Cannot get Itunes to open - tried everything

Everytime I click on Itunes 7.5 to open nothing happen. When I open up the task manager it's right there, I close it, re-open it and again nothing. I got tired with all the un-installing and re-installing so I just reformated my computer. I installed only the drivers for my MB and video, went to the apple site and downloaded a fresh copy of Itunes 7.5, installed it and when I tried to run it - the same exact thing - will not open.
What the **** is going on? I can't access my Ipod for a week now! Is apple trying to fix this - I know the problem can't be on my side becuase I installed it on a reformated computer with the same problem.

Let's try to get an idea of what might be going on with some preliminary questions from b noir's "smack" for iTunes launch failures:
Is there an error message associated with the launch failure?
If so, what does it say and what (if any) error numbers are there?
If there's not an error message, let's check your QuickTime (its well-being is a requirement for a functioning iTunes).
Go to the XP Start menu > All Programs and try running QuickTime.
Does it start?
If not, then the same question as for iTunes - is there an error message?
If so, what does it say and what (if any) error numbers are there?
Do you notice any other peculiar behavior with QuickTime?
<hr />
You've more or less answered this next question but for the sake of clarity ...
If there are no error messages and there is no problem with QuickTime then reboot your computer and open the Windows Task Manager.
Go to the Processes tab of the Task Manager and then try starting iTunes one more time.
Does iTunes.exe appear in the list of processes now?
If iTunes.exe appears, does it remain in the Processes list or discontinue after a brief period of time?

    Hello there, Tricia.
You may have to find the download folder for the browser you are using and launch the installer from there. Another option you may want to try is using another browser to download and install iTunes. The following Knowledge Base article offers up some steps for how to download iTunes using Windows Internet Explorer:

  • Cannot get Itunes to open in windows 7 64 bit

I have installed after a complete reformating of my hard disk, installed and reinstalled itunes several times after a complete unistall of all related programs and tried just about everything that is recommended. What can I do to get itunes to open on my computer
    Rockyrobin

Are you getting any error messages?  Perhaps this post would be more suited for the iTunes forums since it's an issue with the iTunes application itself and not your iPod.

+Hi People, thanks for your help. I had the same problem. After being prompted to update to iTunes Ver. 9.1 I went ahead and let it automatically update and install iTunes and Quicktime. After updating to Ver. 9.1, iTunes would not open or run on my Windows XP system. It would show up in "processes" as a running program but would not show up on my screen.+
+After reading your discussion about how Bonjour would interfere, I tried to uninstall it. It wouldn't uninstall because it is using one of the processes. I tried quite a few things including completely uninstalling all Apple programs and reinstalling iTunes. I manually uninstalled Bonjour. No luck!+
++Here's what you need to do. After reinstalling iTunes, Navigate to the Program Files\ Bonjour+ folder and rename this folder Bounjour.Old. Restart the computer. Bounjour service should not now show up as a service in Administrative Tools\Services. DELETE the Bonjour.old folder. THEN go to Control Panel - Remove Programs and REMOVE Bounjour. It will now uninstall sucessfully.+
+After doing this iTunes started right up, loaded all my old settings, and recognized my iPod just like normal. Hooray and good luck.+

    User-specific troubleshooting
    Remove iTunes Preference files
Some of the files that iTunes uses to store settings and preferences may be unusable and cause issues. iTunes has two folders where preferences are saved. Move one of them to the desktop and test to see if the issue persists. If it does, move it back and remove the second folder. The location for the two preference folders are:
    C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Apple Computer\iTunes
    C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes

    hi ky!
When I open the Task Manager processes Quicktime .exe opens and runs; but itunes.exe just hangs there.
    let's see if this actually
    b works
    as a diagnostic technique.
okay, if itunes.exe is persisting in your Task Manager
    b and
you've got Norton Internet Security 2005, let's try the "Lorraine" technique:
    Lorraine M, "NIS/i-tunes problem rectified" #2, 12:51am Oct 17, 2005 CDT
... but if you're not running Norton (or some different Symantec firewall), let's try this one:

    keep us posted.

  • Cannot get tones to work, tried EVERYTHING

    Hello everyone,
I normally refrain from asking questions on a forum or ''community'', but seeing as I've tried
every possible thing, I consider this to be a last resort. I'll keep it straight to the point, and easy to read.
    General information
    - I want a specific song as a ringtone
    - I have an iPhone 5S, with iOS7.0.6
    - I have iTunes, version 11.1.4.62
    - I have Windows Vista as my operating system
    - The song in question is an .mp3 file
    - Yes, the iPhone has been fully updated
    - Yes, ''Tones'' has been checked on, via preferences >> general >> sources
    - Yes, ''Tones'' now appears at the left sidebar, with the other sources
    - Yes, importsettings have been set to: ''Import with: AAC-coding'' and ''iTunes Plus''
    - Yes, I made sure the song (in song info) has a starting point from 0:01 and an ending point at 0:30.
    - Yes, both ''Starttime'' and ''Endtime'' have been checked on
    - Type of media (in song info) is ''music'', and cannot be set to ''tone''. It's not one of the options
    - Yes, I've right clicked the song. Convert to AAC is not one of the options
    Additional information
    - In the iPhone summary, the current options have been checked on:
    >''Automatically sync iPhone when connected''
    >''Only sync songs and videos that have been checked on''
    >''Manually manage music and videos''
    - ''Convert songs with higher bit to 128 kbps AAC'', this has been checked on -and- off.
It did not do anything, regardless.
I am absolutely outraged by the fact that it is -this- difficult to set a song
as your default ringtone. I've had experiences with different phones, different operating systems.
Each and every one of them had the option, within the operating system itself, to simply set a file as a ringtone.
I thought the cornerstone of Apple's ideology was simplicity. I'm experiencing none of it.
Can anyone explain what is happening here? Or better yet: propose a solution?
I sincerely thank you in advance for your time and effort.
    Kind regards,
    Edi

    Please read the question before

    supposed to appear.
Oddly enough your Post title and whole last half of your post is a rant on why you can't make a tone in iTunes, so this is why that reply was posted.

To address this issue individually answer these questions:
What happens when you select the song, then click File > Create New Version? What is grey and what is black on that list?
Does this same issue happen with all songs, some songs, are a specific number of songs?
Where did the songs come from that have this issue?
If you create a new library and import one or two songs, does the same thing happen there?

  • Cannot get itunes to open

After Itunes is installed on my pc, it will not open. I have follwed every thing I could find so far, uninstalled and deleted all associated files including QT and deleted all local temp files, turned off virus protection and pop up blockers while re-installing, but the program still will not start. Any other suggestions? Please help!

Can you check something for me please?
Restart your PC. after the PC restarts, bring up your Task manager, and go to the "Processes" tab. Click "Image name" to sort the processes alphabetically.
    Now try to launch iTunes.
Does an itunes.exe process appear? If so, does it vanish after a second or so, or does it persist in the Processes tab (even though iTunes itself never shows up)?

  • I just updated ITunes and now it will not open at all. My computer recognizes my IPod, but I cannot get ITunes to open at all.

Cannot get itunes to open after updating.  Have uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times asper itunes instructions.

Okay. That's got the most common (current) possibility ruled out.
There's a lot of stuff that might be on the table still, though.
