Cannot get keynote slides to appear as usable.

I've been using Keynote seemlessly it seems with FCPX when it comes to importing a brief animation file or custom slide from quicktime and haven't had any issues until now.
So, I'm editing this seminar video and trying to insert the powerpoint presentation slides to go along with it but nothing seems to be working. I imported the PPT file into keynote to convert it but when i export it from keynote using the image exporter, with the JPEG option selected, they appear in FCPX as blank files with no media in them.
I thought that was odd so I decided to export using quicktime thinking that would be a good way around the issue but as it turns out it's not recognizing the quicktime files either. So far I've done the Apple Intermediary Codec, Apple Pro res 422, as well as MPEG-4. Then I tried the default templates in Quicktime like for Webmovie-small and so on. None of these seem to work.
I can't really think of anything else. Any other ideas?

I had this same problem and was searching for answers. I also prefer using a circle instead of crosshairs. I hope you've figured it out by now, but, if you haven't, here is the answer (I am using Elements 9, but, it should work for other versions I think):
1. Open up Elements Editor, Click on Edit, Click on Preferences, Click on Display & Cursors.
2. Under Painting Cursors, select Full Size Brush Tip
3. (optional) - if you want crosshairs within your circle, then also select Show Crosshair in Brush Tip.
4. Click ok.
Now use the brush, and it should have a circle to use.
P.S. Sometimes if you have your Caps Lock key on, that removes the circle as well.

Go to the iTunes folder (it is in Music folder) and do this:
1. Back up your music
2. Delete "iTunes Library.itl". Then, open iTunes again and it should work

Cannot view Keynote slides except in slideshow or slide navigator

I'm using Keynote '09 version 5.0.3 (791) on Macbook Pro Intel Core 2 Duo with OS X 10.6.3. Been working fine ... always. Today I installed the latest Apple update and ... bad times. Firstly, many of my settings (screensaver, desktop, etc.) have changed. But the main problem I have found is that Keynote is now unusable ... I can see the slides when in slideshow and I can see them in the slide navigator down the left but I CANNOT SEE THE SLIDE CONTENT IN THE MAIN WINDOW which means that I cannot create or edit slide content. I've checked a whole load of old Keynote files and am convinced it is not a problem with any of the files (they open fine on other computers). The same happens when I try to create a new Keynote presentation ... I can create a new slide and enter content on it (although I cannot see what I am typing) and I can then view the slide in slideshow. I'm thinking that the latest Apple update has broken something. I tried to submit a ticket to Apple ... but was told I need to pay to do this. Can anybody help please?

PROBLEM SOLVED !!!
By the way, I tried creating a new user account and that didn't help. I spent about 9 hours in total searching these forums and the web for a solution. I spoke to all my tech friends for help. I tried everything, including repairing disk permissions, screen resolutions, etc. In the end we figured out that the update must have corrupted - possibly because I downloaded and installed it while within a corporate network. So I downloaded it again (making sure I had the latest combo version from the Apple web site) and then installed it again from home. Now everything is working fine!
So my recommendation to anyone who has the same problem ... backup everything and then back it up again; get the latest combo update from http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1017 and only download and run it when you are not in a corporate environment or going through proxy (just in case that makes a difference).

I have been deveoping a widget for the past 4 days and cannot get the small "i" to appear. I looked over my code a dozen times and everything seems to be in order. This is with an Intel MacBook with 10.4.7 installed.

Otherwise, please post your Widget in order to troubleshoot it.

I want Time Machine to "back up now" as it should from a menu that should appear when the icon is addressed in the dock. I cannot get this menu to appear?

I have been using an external Iomega HD for back-up. It has stopped working automaically ( I have used disc utility to verify and repair the disc). I get a message that disc was unable to back-up. Mac help describes a menu which appears when you click on the Time Machine icon that includes the option to "back up now". This menu does not appear when I click the icon. What can I try next?

Cannot get my message to appear in chat window

Hi everyone!
I'm using iChat 3.1.8 on my dual 1.25GHz MDD G4 with OS 10.4.9 and 2GB RAM. More frequently than not, when I'm trying to chat with someone in my Buddy List, I can't get my typed message to appear in the chat window, no matter how many times I hit 'return' on the keyboard.
I've tried quitting out of iChat and restarting the Mac and also deleting the iChat preferences, but the problem still persists. It's really, really frustrating! What can I do to fix the problem? Is this a bug in version 3.1.8 or what? Please advise.. thank you!!!

Hi Sally,
Click on none of your Buddies and open a text chat window (don't type anything)
Now go to the Edit menu
The Text chat window has to be the front window
Select the Spelling option
Change it something and then change it back to Spelling as you go.
There is also a chance it is Font related
Open the Font Book and check Helvetica is active.
Also check the Outgoing Font choice in iChat > Preferences > Messages is active as well.

I am using 10.6.8 and I cannot get an Imac to appear in workgroup manager, the mac is bound to both AD and OD. I have removed the bindings, rebuilt the mac and also removed it from bot system but still it does not appear in OD in work group manager.

I have a mac which is connected to a network and is bound to both OD and AD with no issues on my server when I try to manage it through Workgroup manager it does not appear.
I have unbound it , removed it from both systems completely and even rebuilt it but it still does not appear in WGM.

If your server is 10.6 and your client is 10.7 you'll have to add it manually to WGM
via mac address. 10.7 clients don"t automatically appear in 10.6 server wgm

You can use these steps to check if images are blocked:
* Open the web page that has the images missing in a browser tab.
* Click the website favicon ([[Site Identity Button]]) on the left end of the location bar.
* Click the "More Information" button to open the "Page Info" window with the Security tab selected (also accessible via "Tools > Page Info").
* Go to the <i>Media</i> tab of the "Tools > Page Info" window.
* Select the first image link and scroll down through the list with the Down arrow key.

I have an iPhone 4 running iOS 7.0.2. I had turned on auto scanning (which I totally advise NOT to do), and now that I have finally turned it off, I cannot tap on my screen for any kind of access. Any advice here?

You may have 'Zoom' turned on by accident. Try double tapping the screen with 3 fingers. If that restores everything, go into settings - general - accessibility and turn off 'zoom'.

Cannot get music videos to appear in Music Video list on 80gig iPod

Hi I'm on a mac here and my 4th iPod and first video, when I take a music video that I know will load onto my new iPod as a movie (the only video I have from the 'iTunes Music Store' is Kraftwerk - Robots and is listed as movie and iTunes will not give me access to the otion button to choose movie or music video it is greyed out) and set it as music video after syncing going to the iPod reveals an empty music video library at root or via the 'all' playlist and if the song had been in my movie folder .. it no longer is.... any mac users out there who can tell me what i must be doing wrong with my music videos?
I believe those who have the music video playlist working are enjoying having your music videos playing on shuffle rather than having to select each one individualy in the movie list. If you read this and can't help but can say one way or the other, please post if you are on a mac and the feature works or does not work for you, it would help me work out if its a problem local to my mac or a general issue needing a fix from Apple... also does your ipod list the music videos by artist or just the track name?
