Cannot get mail password issue?

Error message comes up when i click on mail.
"No password provided for user "me" on server _.
Please go to Mail Account Settings and enter a password"
I use Outlook. There is a password on my account settings page. Any ideas?

sounds like your email account didn't sync / setup correctly on your iphone... i would go into settings, mail and manually setup your email account

When I log into my mail through safari it's fine, and I deleted it from my phone and went to go add it back but now I can't because it keeps telling me my password, which is correct, is incorrect.     I have had issues of "password incorrect" and mail not being sent, after doing the latest IOS 8 update to both my iPhone and iPad.  I tired all the different suggestions I found (deleting and re-adding my AOL account, changing my password, etc) and nothing fixed it until now!  While searching around for a solution, I happened upon a post from someone.  I tried doing this to all three of my AOL email accounts (on both my iPhone and iPad) and now it works great!  Here what that post said to do:
    "1. Set up your AOL account(s) using the AOL option
    2. Go into each AOL account(s) and under the "Outgoing Mail Server" section, press the SMTP entry
    3. Set the "Primary Server" to "Off"
    4. Press "Add Server" and provide the following information in the "Outgoing Mail Server" section
        a. Host Name - type in:  smtp.aol.com
        b. User name - type in your user name WITHOUT the "@aol.com" - that was the problem/change!
        c. Password - type in your password
        d. Use SSL - On
        e. Authentication - Password
        f. Server Port - 587 (mine automatically set it to port 587)
    After you enter in the above info, the Primary Server will still be set to OFF, but the new server you set will be set to ON, just doesn't show up in the Primary Server section.  Be sure to do the above steps for each one of your AOL accounts (if you have multiples ones).
    Apparently, in the main AOL Account Information section you need to use your user name and the "@aol.com", but you need to leave the "@aol.com" out of the SMTP.  However, the Primary Server has that whole section grayed out so you need to ignore that one and create another one."
    Good luck!  Worked for me and now I am as happy as a Lamb!!

    Cannot get mail password incorrect even though I submit correct password?

    I happened to stumble upon the answer. I would imagine a lot of other Gmail users are going to have this problem soon so here is the answer.
    Gmail has just recently changed their security settings and they use what they're calling a "2-step verification" process. Because of this, certain apps like iOS Mail cannot verify passwords because they can't use the same process.
    To fix this, Gmail now provides something called an "app specific password" that will be generated by Gmail and will allow iOS Mail to verify your Gmail account.
    To set this up, go into your Gmail account settings on the Google website and click on privacy. Set up the 2-step verification process and it should be self explanatory from there.

    I have upgraded to 4S and the phone is functioning properly but I keep getting some error messages.  In Mail, I keep getting the prompt - Cannot Get Mail  No password provided for "MobileMe". Please go to Mail Account Settings and enter a password.
    When I click Settings, I have already removed the "MobileMe" account from my phone & am receiving the MobileMe mail through the iCloud account that is set up.  And that iCloud account is functioning properly. 
    So the Mail is attempting to pull mail from an account I deleted off my iPhone & then when I try to follow the prompts to fix the problem & enter a password, it's no longer there.

    I have not once had an issue with this. I have not changed my password or anything. I have the iPhone 4. All of a sudden, the message error pops up that says " Cannot get Mail"  The User name or Password for Suddenlink is incorrect. Please help!!!!!!

    my iphone comes up with an error message that says "cannot get mail. the connection to the server failed", i always press ok. then the iphone says that my email "password incorrect" when I know it is not incorrect. i have typed the right one multiple times but i am not able to get mail for this certain email address. it is a windows live (hotmail) account. I have another gmail account that is working fine so far. i have tried all the trouble shoot tutorials on the apple website, nothing worked yet.... Please help!

    i had to manually put in the correct email. I wanted to register a hotmail account but since it was giving me that response, I researched this issue. Finally, I found out some specifics and gave it a try. The post said to Go to Add email and Click Other. My email is a live account... I needed to type::
    host name: outlook.com
    SMTP (Outgoing mail server): stmp.live.com
    Server port as 995
    When I put all of that in, it worked. Hope that helps!

  • ICloud Mail issues: "Cannot Load Mail" and "Cannot Get Mail"

    I'm currently experiencing issues when trying to access iCloud Mail which is visible in two places:
      - on a iOS device (iPad and iPhone): when opening Mail.app and trying to check my iCloud Inbox:
          "Cannot Get Mail" "The user name or password for 'iCloud' is incorrect."
       - on http://www.icloud.com: when clicking the Mail icon:
         "Cannot Load Mail" "Help Apple improve iCloud by reporting this problem." [Reload] [Report to Apple] [Close Mail]
    Oddly enough synching Contacts and Calendar items works fine on the iOS device (so username and password are obviously correct), and logging onto http://www.icloud.com using these credentials with use of all other application icons (Contacts, Calendar, Find my iPhone) seems to work also.
    I created a "free" me.com account to enable "Find my iPhone" when iOS 4 was released (which doesn't include mail), and already had a Apple ID. Presumably these got merged now, maybe contributing to the issue?
    iCloud is only available to me through the web or my iOS devices, I currently don't have Lion installed.
    Suggestions?

    I am in the exact same boat:
    I was a MobileMe subsciber who migrated to iCloud
    MobileMe ID was [email protected]; Apple ID [email protected]
    All iCloud services work as intended EXCEPT mail
    I can access iCloud Mail by:
    Mail.app in Lion
    When I access my iCloud mail on my iOS devices, I get "The user name or password for 'iCloud' is incorrect."  I know for a fact the password is correct, and all other services work.
    When I access iCloud online, again all services EXCEPT mail work.  Here, I get the "Cannot Load Mail." message
    Has anyone resolved this; or is this an Apple issue?  This is driving me crazy.

    1. To make sure that you're connected to the Internet, open Safari and go to www.apple.com.
    2. Log in to your email provider's website to make sure that the account is active and the password is correct.
    3. Make sure your settings are correct using Mail Settings Lookup.
    4. Restart your iOS device.
    5. Delete the affected email account from your device.

         3. Tap Delete Account.

    It sounds like you might need to contact Yahoo! if you aren't able to setup your email account as a new account after deleting it.

    It sounds like you have modified the password settings for your Gmail account after changing the password. Thats where I would have started too. Next I would restart the device and test it one more time, and then remove and add the account again in Settings:
    Get help with Mail on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
    Restart your iOS device.
    Delete the affected email account from your device.
    Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
    Tap the affected email account.
    Tap Delete Account.
    Add your account again.

    Being able to to send and receive email is definitely an important feature of the iPhone.  Here are some steps that may help:
    If you are unable to send or receive email, try the following steps:
    Restart the iOS device.
    Tap Safari and attempt to load a webpage to ensure that the device has Internet access. If you're unable to load a webpage, try the Wi-Fi assistant.
    Try an alternative Internet connection.
    If your email is provided by your Internet provider, try connecting from the home network.
    If your iOS device has an active cellular data plan, try to disable Wi-Fi:  Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn off Wi-Fi.
    If not, try a different Wi-Fi network.
    Log in to your email provider's website to ensure that the account is active and the password is correct.
    Delete the account from Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars and then add the email account again on the iOS device.
    If you're still unable to send or receive email, contact your email provider and verify the account settings are correct. You will need to gather this information (PDF).

    The article ends with gaining information from your Email Provider.  I understand you are entering your correct username and password into the iPhone settings, but they may have adjusted some of the other settings.
