Cannot get mail server failed

Message keeps saying Cannot get mail, server failed.

i had to manually put in the correct email. I wanted to register a hotmail account but since it was giving me that response, I researched this issue. Finally, I found out some specifics and gave it a try. The post said to Go to Add email and Click Other. My email is a live account... I needed to type::
host name: outlook.com
SMTP (Outgoing mail server): stmp.live.com
Server port as 995
When I put all of that in, it worked. Hope that helps!

Ios7 now installed on my iphone 4S, emails show up but I cannot access them, message says cannot get mail - server failed. Why is this happening?

I have this question too! I updated my Iphone iOS software last night and this morning, I cannot access my mail as it says that I cannot connect to the server. On both my Iphone and Macbook, when I open mail- it says that the server rejected my password for ICloud. I can also log in to ICloud online, so I know that it isn't my password- HOWEVER, when I try to access mail through the cloud online, it tells me that it is unable to obtain my mail. Have you tried deleting the account and re-adding it on the phone?
What version of Exchange server are you running?

It might be worth a shot to reset your router first. Unplug it from power for about 30 seconds and then plug it in again. Or try any other WiFi network and see what happens.

Cannot get mail, server unavailable error message n my Yahoo account only, but not on others

Although I have no problem getting hotmail and other yahoo account messages, my PRIMARY email account has been returning an error message "Cannot get mail, server unavailable". Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

Exchange synchronises all folders but Inbox error Cannot Get Mail Server Error!

Initially I lost the inbox of my IPad running IOS 5 with my iPhone 4GS continuing to sync with my Exchange Server 2007 however changing mail setting on my phone has now stopped that working as well and I now have lost access to remote mail altogether.
I can still send mails from my Ipad and Iphone though if I send to myself they do not appear in the inbox but do appear in the Sent items.
If I delete mails they appear in deleted items
I have upgraded my IPad 3 to IOS 6 which has not changed anything. I have also tried an IPad 2 and that does not like my mailbox either. Tonight I created a new user on the server and sent mail to that mailbox. I set the settings on the IPad and the Inbox and other folders worked with no issues.
This problem started 2 weeks ago and before that I have never had problems with IOS devices syncing mail from my Exchange 2007 server.
My wife has a IPad 2 that links to the same Exchange Server and she has experienced none of these problems.
Any pointers on this would be most appreciated.

OK, we fixed my boss' iPad issue. We are using Exchange 2010. Somehow, there was an issue with the device association in his Exchange account. We had to remove the device association from his Exchange account, delete the account from his iPad, then re-add the account.. He is now syncing again.
You may be able to remove the device association in OWA. Let us know if this works for you.
As to the cause of the issue, it is still unknown.

I guess he/she open Notes in Gmail settings. This archives (one way sync) notes in gmail account under notes label that is invisible if you are using the standard gmail setup on your iPhone. You can see it on desktop browser, Safari or gmail app in iDevice. Am I wrong?

Cannot get maile connection to server failed

followed the instructions for icloud set up in apple support for ipad and iphone even deleted the account and then set the account up with the correct ID and password. I do use a different ID than my apple ID for my icloud account. I use my me.com email address. I can get into the cloud on my pc and I can send and recieve email when I log into my icloud account but this fails to work on my ipad and iphone. Attempts to seen or get email on these devices when on a wifi network end up with the message "cannot get mail connection to server failed"

Cannot Get Mail Connection to Server Failed

Ok, I am not a very good with setting things up but I have the itouch 16GB, I have managed to set up my email and am receiving new ones but I can not connect when I am away from my home, everytime I try to connect I get the following message, *Cannot get mail,The connection to the server "pop3.live.com" failed.* Can anyone help as to what I have done wrong or what I need to do to make this work. You need a good WiFi connection first. You can get a WiFi signal, tell your touch to connect to the network (which it does) and still not be able to do anything - like check e-mail.
I've noticed that a lot of free hotspots here in the States make you go through a web page to "log on" to their networks. Even if it is free, you still have to go through this system.
Next time this happens, open Safari and touch one of your bookmarked pages. Chances are the network log on screen will pop up. Do whatever it asks, and that network will release your log on to begin working.

How long has it been going on? I've had my yahoo mess up and if i wait a bit it resolves itself. Yahoo is doing something with their servers and it messes with your mail if your mail happens to be on one of those servers.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you're seeing an alert message when opening Mail on your iOS devices. Do you have multiple email accounts setup on the devices? Take a look at the article below, it provides suggestions that will resolve most issues that cause an alert like that to appear in when starting the Mail app.

Hmm, that's odd JeanEB. The error message referts to the connection to your email server not to cellular data or connection to wi-fi. Go to Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars> Select your account and type in your password again. If this doesn't resolve it, delete/re-add the email account.
