Cannot get messages to sync between mac and iphone

Just upgraded to the 5s, my iMessages now has my old Apple ID stored (thought the rest of the phone has the current apple ID) and will not let me change it to so it syncs properly with my Mac (using the up to date ID).  Every time I try to get messages to send through the Apple ID, it tries to make me sign into the old ID, but does not give me a chance to change to the current ID.  Any advice on how to do this?
Thank you!

Welcome to the Apple Community.
First check that all your settings are correct, that notes syncing (mail and notes on a computer) is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the notes you are adding are added to your 'iCloud' account and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone'  or other non iCloud account (you can do this by checking in accounts on an iOS device, or the left side panel in mail on a computer), non iCloud notes will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your notes are in the iCloud group, you might try unchecking notes syncing (mail and notes on a computer) in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling notes syncing.

  • How can I get an audiobook's playback position synced between Mac and iPhone?

I have several Audible audiobooks, both on my iMac and on my iPhone. I listen to the audiobook on either the computer or the phone, depending on the circumstances. Both the iMac and the iPhone will independently remember the playback position within the audiobook, but I cannot get them to sync those playback positions to each other. So if I'm on chapter 2 on the iMac, listen for a couple of hours, and end at chapter 4, then the Mac will remember the correct playback position when I return to the book, but if I sync the iPhone to the Mac, and check the audiobook on the phone, it is still at the playback position it was the last time I listened to the book on the phone. Should the playbook position in the audiobook sync when the phone is synced to the computer via iTunes? I've tried both wired and wireless syncs, and that doesn't seem to make a difference on my case. Should this work, and if so, is there a particular setting that I'm missing?

I am tracking the movement of various objects by subtracting the current image from the previous image and displaying the result.  Anything that moves is white and anything that doesn't is black.  I then have vision assistant give me a list of particles and their pixel positions based on certain criteria.  I then use the data from my two cameras pointing at 45 degrees inward in order to triangulate the object's 3-D position in space (this takes a few steps).  Then I use the frame rate of the camera and the scalar distance between an object in multiple frames to determine its scalar and vector velocities.  All of this is done in real time.
I  was originally having issues with the pixel positions but have since wrote a vi that interprets a matrix of the pixel positions which then feeds them into my position/velocity vi.
The vi I attached is built to work with my "bitflow alta frame grabber" so feel free to ask questions if anything is not understood.
My new task has been to develop a way to only track one object at a time, and have that object be the same object in both cameras.

  • ICloud doesn't sync between mac and iPhone...

Hello all. I have an iphone 4 and I macbook pro which I have just upgraded the OS to OSX Mountain lion.
I have never really made use of icloud before, but intend to start using it as I intend to get an ipad soon.
I have gone into icloud on both my mac and iphone and ticked on everything for icloud. However, nothing seems to really sync. My notes don't go between devices. As far as I can tell neither do my photos.
The only large file on my icloud seems to be backups. However, the only thing in this folder seems to be the back up folder...which only seems to contain infinitiy blade data.
Any help as to where I'm going wrong?
    regards,
    Matt

I don't want to trust the iCloud, so I want to sync my PERSONAL Notes on my iPhone (4) just with my iMAC (via iTunes), and not saved in iCloud.
Yes iCloud is great for syncing/saving common data, but I want to choose what I sync and if I choose not to save in icloud than I want to have the possibility to save it elsewhere.
Now with Mountain Lion it is not possible anymore to sync between my iPhone and iMac
More and more companies are going to say/dictate "This and this is good for you!"
Please Apple, take your Customers serious and let themselve choose what good for them is!
    Thanks in advance!!
    P.S.,
if there Apple-Customers who have a solution for syncing Notes between MountainLion and iOS please reply! (Thanks)

  • To Do Items Syncing Between Mac and iPhone

Is there a way to since my To Do Items between my mac and iPhone? If not is there an Application that I can sync my To Do Items? Is there a way to Sync my Notes? Right now I am putting my To Do's in my iCall but it will be good to have a separate section for To Do's not on iCal.
    Thanks,
    Omar

    Hi
I have also posed the same question. I have researched this over the past few weeks and it appears that Apple have decided NOT to Sync Mail Notes with the iPhone or iPod Touch. Sadly, the same is true with the new MobileMe service.
I suggest that people send Apple some feedback and request that they Sync Mail Notes. We need people to send a clear message to Apple.

  • Should iMessages sync between Mac and iPhone

I've looked online and can't find a definite answer to this.
I use iMessage on the Mac and iPhone, and can send and receive from both, without a problem.  However, if I delete an iMessage from one device, it remains on the other. Is this correct, or should deleting it from one automatically delete it from the other, so both devices remain in sync with the same messages in place?
    Thanks
    Phil

I am using iPhone 5 and MacBook Air.

On the iPhone tap Settings > Store. Switch Books off then back on the reset the iPhone.
    playlists do not update instantly

On both the iPad and iPhone, tap Settings > iCloud. Switch Contacts off then back on then reset.
Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home button down at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
On your Mac, open System Preferences > iCloud
Deselect the box next to Contacts then reselect that box then restart your Mac.

  • Photos not syncing between Mac and iPhone since update to Photos on Mac.

Ever since I updated to Photos on my Late 2013 macbook pro retina, photos are not syncing between it and my iPhone 6. Both are updated to the most recent software update. Photo stream is on. Does anyone have this problem or know a solution?

You will have to go the the Photos tab in iTunes when you connect the iPhone.  Then reset the photo sync options.  They were reset with the upgrade to use iCloud by default, but you can change the settings back to sync folders, just like before.

  • Help getting tabs to sync between mac and tablet

I have tabs that refuse to sync consistently, if at all between my Mac with 10.9 and an Android tablet 4.2. I have current versions of the apps.
I have tried creating a new account to verify, I've tried reinstalling both on both machines.
Sometimes, it might finally resolve itself if I leave it overnight, like it's incredibly slow. I try manually syncing, letting it do it's own thing...
I don't get what I am doing wrong.
For reference, When I sign in to google chrome on both devices, it's instant, or damn near, and doesn't stop being that way from the first sync. Very solid in terms of syncing tabs and such.
This FF sync deal I just can't get to work worth a crap and it's disappointing. I'd like to keep using FF as I love the bookmarking capabilities (something google refuse to address), but I do so much research for school and I have grown to rely on this feature a great deal.
I hope someone can tell me what I am doing wrong!

If it works when you leave it overnight, perhaps you need to reduce the intervals between the syncs?
These might be the preferences you need to adjust: https://wiki.mozilla.org/QA/Sync/Client/Sync_Timers

  • IMessage won't sync between Mac and iPhone

Ever since iOS 7 upgrade, I am having issues with iMesage but only with one user specific.  iMessage works on my phone when being used in a iPhone to iPhone usage however my GF has a Mac Pro and a iPad and iMessage works fine with she's using her devices and I am using my Mac Air however when it goes to auto sync to my iPhone it only syncs my messages that I am sending. I receive her messages on my Mac Air however they don't sync or are received on my iPhone.
I have not tried a iPhone to Mac conversatino with another person.
I have tried removing my Apple ID from my phone and re-logging in.  No change.  I have turned off iMesage on my phone and no change.  My Mac Air and iPhone both have the same accounts selected to recieve messages.
Anyone have any ideas? Its a tad bit annoying.

I used to receive messages on my iPhone and iMac.  Now I get them only on one machine or the other and I do not get the complete conversation history on the iMac.

  • Imessage is not syncing between mac and iphone?

My Imessage is not working with my iphone and mac, I can either send from my mac or my iphone they are not working as one like the website says it should, any help would be great.
    Thanks

To solve this problem make sure:
Your Messages App on your Mac is signed in using your Apple ID.
iMessages is enabled on your iPhone.
iMessages on your iPhone is logged in using your Apple ID.
Your Caller ID in iMessages on your iPhone is set to your email address.
The person you are sending messages to also uses iMessages.
Lastly, you may have to begin a new conversation with the person to get them to sync.

  • IMessage not syncing between mac and iphone

I recently upgraded to Mavericks (10.9.3) and iMessages no longer sync between my iPhone and my Mac Pro.  I've checked the Support data base as well as Google and have followed the recommendations to check preferences on all devices and to restart all devices, but that doesn't seem to have solved the problem.  Messages being sent from my iPhone 4S simply don't show up on my Mac.  Can anyone provide assistance/ideas??

Associate your mobile number with your Apple ID, if you haven't already done so.
Sign out of iMessage on the Mac:
Messages ▹ Preferences ▹ Accounts ▹ Sign out
    and on the iPhone:
Settings ▹ Messages ▹ Send & Receive ▹ Apple ID ▹ Sign out
    Then, on the phone, tap
Use Your Apple ID for iMessage
Sign back into iMessage on both devices and test. If there's no change, you may have to wait for a change in network conditions.

  • Syncing between Mac and iPhone doesn't work

I recently upgraded to Mavericks and after that syncing my Mac with my iPhone 5S doesn't work.
I would like to report syncing bookmarks, contacts, calendars and notes not syncing as a bug, because i find the decision to force me into the cloud to sync these so stupid that I could as well have been using Windows.
However, nothing else syncs properly. There seems to be a random function deciding which podcasts, iTunes U content etc. that syncs. If I press the sync button several times I get different results every time.
Does anyone else experience the same thing? Is there a workaround or is it just bad programming from Apples side?

Hi. Is the iPhone still connected to the WiFi when you separate them? The iPhone must be connected to WiFi for FaceTime to work.

  • Getting message alerts on both Mac and iPhone

So I use Messages on my Mac a lot, and I receive a lot of messages, thing is when I receive something and get a notification on my mac if i ignore it for more than a minute it sends a notification to my phone too. so I always have to click on the notifications on my mac just so it knows i've seen it and not to send the alert to my phone. I can't find a single setting to turn this off, so I'd be thankful if someone could help me with this

yep, but I think you get my question... Let's say I am in the Messages app on my mac, I get a message and the computer recognises that I've seen it and my phone stays quiet. but if i'm not in the messages app and having a conversation it gives me the notification on my phone first and when i ignore it for exactly 1 minute it sends the notification to my phone. That's what I want to disable! I can't go to the messages app every time i get a message!

  • Syncing between Mac and iPhone 4

My iPhone 4 will not sync with my desktop Mac even though I get a message when in Itunes that the sync is occurring.  Changes to iCal and Contacts do not merge across the two devices.

Personally, I find setting up Gmail as an Exchange account works better if you have multiple devices. It also has the advantage of syncing your contacts.
