Cannot get my eSATA drive to be recognized on my DVR Moto QIP7216

I bought an eSATA hard drive from Amazon
Fantom GreenDrive 1TB USB 2.0/eSATA Desktop External Hard Drive GD1000EU
My DVR is an eligible model, Motorola QIP 7216
I bought an eSATA drive, but it only came with a USB cable.
So I bought an eSATA to eSATA (M/M) cable, and connected it to the DVR
Went through the process of adding more memory, and restarting the set top box, but it still won't recognize it.
Can someone please help? Am I doing something wrong?

i have a broken desktop which had my itunes account on it.
I am trying to get the information onto a new laptop and itunes programme but cannot. I have only managed to copy over some of my music as i had it on an external drive.
I also cannot get my iphone 5 to be recognized on the new itunes.
    HELP

iTunes as you see it in the application window uses a series of files and folders contained in the iTunes folder.  Some people make the mistake of only backing up their media in which case all you have is a bunch of media files without the iTunes structure.  In that case you have to build a new library yourself.
What exactly do you mean "not recognized"?  The phone does not show up on the computer at all, or it does but it says it will wipe the phone?  The wipe the phone stuff is again because it cannot find the original library to which it was synced.  You need to transfer the entire iTunes folder from the old computer or the backup you made of it.

  • Cannot get my disc drive to eject.  It whirs like it want to eject but nothing happens.  Any suggestions on how I can fix this?

My G3 power PC, I cannot get the disc drive to open so I can put a disc into it.  I sounds like it is stuck.  Is there a way I can fix it without taking it in to a repair store?

OK, what you have is an iMac G4 17-inch USB2.0. Good work.
Unfortunately, that model is among the hardest to service at home. Getting one apart is a job of modest difficulty; reassembling it so the heat dissipation system works properly is more difficult. Many have succumbed to heat-related failures following improper reasesembly.
Did you try my suggestion of booting the computer while depressing the mouse button?
When you start the computer can you hear a short sound from the optical drive?
If you put a light fingernail pressure between the tray and the computer case, does anything move?
If you need it serviced professionally, unfortunately Apple considers that model obsolete and will not work on them. You'd need to find an independent repair shop that really knows G4 iMacs.

  • Cannot get a replacement drive for a mac air under warranty

Local approved repair facility says that they cannot get a replacement hard drive from Apple. This is supposedly not a recalled drive, just one that has failed after 7 months. If Apple cannot supply a replacement any chance that I can trade-in this 13" Mac Air for a new one?

Contact Apple (1-800 MYAPPLE).  Your Mac has a one year warranty so it need not be on the recalled list to repair the failed drive.  If you are near an Apple store, visit them.

  • HT1338 I have just bought a new MacBook Pro, switch it on and followed the Setup Assistant. Now the Mac is asking me for a password to access the computer. Assistant Setup did cover a password to access Mac. Not a good start, as I cannot get into the driv

Just open up the box to my new MacBook Pro. Have gone through Assistant Setup. The Mac is asking for a password. Assistant Setup did not ask for a password to be setup. I cannot get into the computer as its requires a password that I did not set up? Why it is doing this I have no idea. I tried my Apple ID password, no luck. Any other options?

At the risk of asking the obvious, Have you tried not entering anything and then hitting "Return"?
    Hope this helps

  • How do I get a Bootable drive to be recognized?

I reinstalled OS 10.4 from original DVD after 10.4.9 update disaster. All went okay with the Archive and Reinstall. However, when I restart, I get the folder with the question mark and then the system boots from another internal drive with 10.3.4 installed. Disk utility shows the 10.4 drive as bootable. I am able to choose the 10.4 drive using Startup Disk. But it won't boot. I've Repaired Permissions and Repaired Disk. Any ideas?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Take a look at A flashing question mark appears when you start your Mac and see if any of the recommended procedures work for you.
    Good luck.

  • Cannot get an optical drive to work in eMac 700MHz

    Hi all,
I recently acquired a 700MHz G4 eMac and found that its Combo drive wasn't working. I could eject the tray and put a disc in, but it would then spin the disc forever and make a loud whirring noise.
I decided to swap it out for a SuperDrive that I'd just removed from my Power Mac G5. It's a Pioneer DVR-108AA which I flashed to enable Dual Layer support on it, so it's now simply a Pioneer DVR-108.
This SuperDrive works perfectly well in the G5, but when I go through the drama of dismantling the eMac and putting it back together with this drive in it, it's not recognised at all.
When I boot into OS X 10.4.10 I get a message saying I'd inserted a disc that OS X couldn't use; do I want to initialize it, etc.
System Profiler says no disc burner was found. I did once get Disk Utility to recognise it, but it thought it was a hard drive model "PHONEER DVB-108" - the characters were slightly transposed (like Ceefax and Teletext!), so I thought it might have been the IDE/ATA cable. I got an 80-wire 40-pin cable and tried that, but it still didn't get recognised.
Is there anything I can try to get this working? I'm not afraid of opening the eMac and tinkering, but I draw the line before I get to soldering...
    Any help is much appreciated!
    Thanks,
    dp

Yeah, reset the PRAM and set the jumper to the same as the drive that was in there (Cable Select). I also tried it on Master and Slave, too, but it doesn't work.
The original drive is back in there now, and it makes a 'clunk-whirr' noise on bootup, but OS X never recognises it.
It's quite annoying because I have a 6 year old iMac G3 whose CD-R/RW drive is still going strong...

  • I cannot get my hard drive to mount on desktop

Today I had to erase my internal (start-up) hard drive and reinstall Mountain Line (ML) and although the reinstall seems to have occurred correctly - the iMac will now start up and run properly - the icon for the internal hard drive does not appear on the desktop along with the other disk icons.  When I hold the option key down during start-up the Hard Drive icon shows up among the other drives attached to my Mac - but the icon or image of the internal hard drive does not appear on the desktop.  I tried to use Disk Utility to mount the disk, but even though the disk is listed and shown in the left most column of the Disk Utility window - the drive will not mount on the desktop
I seem to remember that the same thing happened when I originally installed Mountain Line on this machine - and after poking around in countless menus I found an option that when selected caused the internal hard drive to mount on the desktop just fine.  But I've not been able to find that option thus far with the newest version of ML.  And a search of the "Help" system was useless.
Can anyone shed some light on the resolution of this problem?
    Thanks

  • HELP: Cannot get 200GB Maxtior Drive to show up on system with 875P Neo board

I just put together a system with a 875P Neo board, Intel 3.2Ghz HT Extreme Edition CPU, 32GB Scsi Drive on an Adaptec SCSI card, and two Maxtor Drives.  The First is a 120GB which set as the primary on IDE1 (DVD Reader & DVD Writer are on IDE2) and the second drive is a Maxtor 200Gb Drive set as the primary on IDE3.  When the system boots up It sees the 200GB on IDE3 as DMA6 and proceeds.  When I look at it in the Bios Setup the two DVD roms appear and the 120GB drive appears, nothing appears in the IDE3 slots.
The system runs Windows XP off the the SCSI drive , which is derive letter C.
I am running the 1.9 bios I downloaded a last week off the MSI web site.
Have I set something wrong in the bios settings?
I do not see the CPU listed as well.
Any sugestions?  I am trying to avoid going out a buying an ATA/133 Ultra DMA IDE card.
    Thanks for the help,
    Dave

Hey Dave, how well does your Extreme Edition processor perform?

  • Cannot get brand new hard drive to work. Disk utility states operation not supported when I try to erase or partition?

Without any success, I cannot get my hard drive to work in disk utilities. I am able to see the disk in the upper left hand column, but when trying to initiliaze the software always reads operation not supported. Any ideas?

You probably have too new a hard disk.  Contact the hard disk manufacturer and ask what jumper setting is needed to drop to 1.5 Gbps SATA speed.
Either that, or return the disk, and go to http://www.macsales.com/
They can be sure to equip you with a proper hard disk.

  • Cannot get xorg to work at all

Granted I have yet to try vesa, but frankly if I cannot get the fglrx driver to work then I am not interested in this distro. Following the wiki instructions has gotten me nowhere and forum searches have turned up 4 year old posts. I have installed Xorg 1.11 from the repository listed on the catalyst page. I have installed the drivers also from the repo listed on the wiki page. I have a Dell XPS 1645 with an AMD HD 5730. fglrx module is running radeon is blacklisted and is not running. nomodeset is on my kernel line. running Xorg -configure says no devices to configure. fglrxinfo says unable to open display (null). If I delete xorg.conf startx says failed to load module ati, vesa, and fbdev, and then says fatal error no screens found. If I run aticonfig --initial it creates xorg.conf, but startx still will not work. The screen will go blank like it is about to load but there is an error fglrx: no matching Device section for instance (BusID PCI :0@2:0:1) found and xinit: connection to server lost. Running Xorg -configure still states no devices to configure. I'm really hoping this is something stupid that I have missed doing, as I do want to use this distro but my time is not infinite, and ubuntu and friends are just so easy. Not like I've never run Arch or Gentoo before either. If my tone is off I'm sorry, it's 2:30 AM here and I'm tired

I also had trouble with my ATI Radeon after the upgrade and solved the problem by a revert.
For this I used (for "extra") the repository http://arm.konnichi.com/2012/03/10/extra/os/i686/
The archlinux wiki explains for "xorg" how to do reverts using such repositories ;-)
I now run upgrades like this (example as of today):
$ sudo pacman -Syuw --ignore ati-dri,libgl,xf86-input-evdev,xf86-video-ati,xf86-video-fbdev,xf86-video-vesa,xorg-server,xorg-server-common,xorg-xinput

I am trying to find the culprit. Besides xorg, I also blocked ati-dri and libgl. But they work fine on my PC.
    Thus, this is ok:
    ati-dri: package upgrade (7.11.2-1 => 8.0.1-2)
    libgl: package upgrade (7.11.2-1 => 8.0.1-2)
    In /etc/pacman.conf I entered:
    # Pacman won't upgrade packages listed in IgnorePkg and members of IgnoreGroup
    IgnorePkg = xorg-server-common
    IgnoreGroup = xorg

  • USB Drive not being recognized through Parallels

I cannot get my USB drives to work on the PC side of Parallels. I used to have no problems with this but now get a message that the "device is being used by another process." Is there a way to determine what "process" this would be or is there another resolution to this? Thanks.

  • Cannot get my ipod gen 2 to be recognized by itunes, and computer shows it as an external drive f... help?

I cannot get the ipod gen 2 to show as something to sync to the songs I have loaded into itunes.  I also only see the ipod as disk f, like it was a travel drive.  Help.  My daughter wants to get a newer Ipod, but if I can not get this one to work, why would I want to bother?  Someone please help.

to a hard factory reset of your device first. if that dont work try updating itunes software.  if that dont work try different cables to see if the one your using is faulty.  or it could simply be that your device is on its last life.  it happens.  but resetting your device to factory settings and restoring it should tke care of things.  FOR NOW!

What did the error message say?
