  • I cannot get my macbook contacts to sync with my ipod

I have an ipod touch 8GB and an iphone4 and a macbook pro with Lion.  I was able to update the phone to ios5 and all is working fine there. I understand I cannot upgrade the ipod touch to ios5 because it is really not a 3rd generation device but I still want to get my contacts from the mac into the ipod touch and have not been able to do that even when the info check boxes are on for updating and replacing contacts and calendars. I can get new contacts from the ipod touch into the mac but I cannot get what is already in the mac into the ipod touch.  I'd rather not do it manually if there is a way to get it to work automatically.  Any help is appreciated.

Thank you for your valuable time helping me address this dilemma a brody.  I talked to Apple support and gave them both serial numbers of my apple products, MacBook Pro 2009 and IPad Air 2013. I was told both snow leopard and lion operating systems would address this issue. I currently have leopard. But following this discussion I am confused as from my understanding leopard is 10.5.8 and snow leopard is just 10.6. When I asked about the difference between snow leopard and lion I was told a $20.00 difference.  I did order the snow leopard software disc but now I am hesitant as I do not want to install new software if it doesn't address this problem. I had just upgraded my iPad air with the newest software update. Am I right in my reasoning?  I am not very computer savvy so forgive if my hesitancy implies ignorance.

have you unpaired your previous phone from your A7 bluetooth?  have you placed the A7 in discovery mode?

  • Cannot get old gen appleTV to sync with iMac any more

I can no longer sync my old appleTV with my macs. I've tried turning off home sharing as someone suggested, but that did nothing.
AppleTV shows up in iTunes but its content does not. This means I can no longer back up content that I've purchased (NOT rented) on my AppleTV because I cannot move it to my Mac.
I guess I can purchase stuff on the Mac in future and stream it, but it sort of negates the convenience of sitting in front of the TV and using AppleTV if I have to go into the other room, buy the stuff, wait for it to download on my Mac and then access it. It also means I have to leave my computer on all the time which I'm not in the habit of doing. (It's not a very green option, is it?)
Also, it doesn't solve the problem of all the TV shows and movies I've purchased recently and now can't back up. (Since I'm on the old AppleTV, I don't have the 99 cent rental option, either.)
Any ideas? Am I missing something? Or is this the way it is now?

I have been experiencing the same problems as discussed above.  At first my 2 Apple TV's were a dream - easy to use and quite convenient.  I could purchase a movie/music on my main floor Apple TV, it would then sync to my main computer and then sync with my basement Apple TV (and vice versa).  As I stated before, the system was gorgeous and worked like it was explained to me prior to my purchase of same.
I always say yes to new software updates.  Then all of a sudden everything stopped syncing and my 2 Apple TV's stop showing up as "device" in Itunes. Calling Apple support was a waste of time - these so-called computer geniuses pretended they did not know what was going on.  Going on the self-help menus was also a dead-end.  I then went to the place where I purchased the Apple TV's and they told me flat out that Apple has simply changed the software to conform with the 2nd generation Apple TV and syncing is no longer possible.
So basically all of us 1st generation Apple TV owners purchased 160 GB of storage for nothing because you can no longer sync. and store.  I say that we get together and fight back because this is not right.  When I purchased my 2 Apple TV's it was on the premise that they would sync and store my purchases and now Apple has unilaterally modified the terms of the contract - I did not agree to this.  Luckily we have court systems that allow class actions and Juries who will punish high-handed and callous corporations who try to screw consumers.  All I want is to be able to use my Apple TV's as I used to - it is that simple - I just want to be able to sync again.
Let me know your thoughts.  Let's not get steamrolled by a billion dollar corporation.

  • I cannot get my google calendar to load on my I phone

I have my google calendar through a google account.
However, there are several people with access to the calendar, and I access it via my own email account, whuch is not a google account.
How can I set this up?  I've tried many options.  Nothing works

A lot of people have been unable to access Yahoo e-mail on their iPhones or iPads. My wife’s iPad was not downloading Yahoo mail, although her iPhone was. Both used IOS 8.2. We tried deleting the account several times and troubleshooting all of the other settings. The problem appears to have been that allowing the IOS to automatically create the account on the iPad resulted in the wrong settings for the incoming server. The following procedure, pieced together from two websites, fixed the problem for us. So far, so good.
    https://portal.smartertools.com/kb/a2659/configure-imap-for-iphone-or-ipad.aspx
    https://help.yahoo.com/kb/mobile-mail/imap-server-settings-sln4075.html
    On the iPhone, tap Settings.
    Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
Tap your Yahoo account, then delete it.
    Tap Add Account.
    Tap Other.
    Tap Add Mail Account.
Complete the Name, Address (email address), Password and Description fields.
    Click Next.
    Ensure IMAP is selected.
Enter the following incoming mail server information:
Incoming Mail (IMAP) Server - Requires SSL
    Server: imap.mail.yahoo.com
    Port: 993
    Requires SSL: Yes
    Hostname is mail.yahoo.com.
Username is your full email address
Password is the same password used to access webmail.
Enter the following outgoing mail server information:
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server - Requires SSL
    Server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
    Port: 465 or 587
    Requires SSL: Yes
    Requires authentication: Yes
Username is your full email address
Password is the same password used to access webmail. It may have been entered for you.
    Tap Next.
The iPhone will establish an SSL connection to your IMAP and SMTP servers.
    That’s all!

  • I have two calendars in outlook and i cannot get one of them to sync with iphone

i have several calendars in my outlook.  the one that used to sync to my iphone no longer does and doesnt show on the phone anymore.

I forgot to say that the duplicate entries return after I have deleted them. Strange to me is why do some contacts show up as many as 14 times. I am suspecting that there could be an issue with iCloud or iTunes. Truly a mystery to me for now.

  • I cannot get my new iPhone to sync with my address book or calendar

Help!  What am I doing wrong? Someone out there give me step-by-step.  My computer is Mac OS X.  I have an iPhone 4.

As I don't know what you have done I don't know what you are doing wrong. Have you read the manual, either from the built in Safari bookmark on your phone or from your computer at http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf ?

    Hello, Malaga1234.
Thank you for the questions.  I have attached a couple articles that will help you troubleshoot the issues that you are experiencing.  The first article, covers the device not being recognized in iTunes.  Try all the steps in that article and test the results after each step. See section five and For Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8 as this will most likely resolve that issue.  Also, be sure to disable any security software as this could keep the device from being shown in iTunes.

  • I cannot get my touch 4 to sync with itunes using w8.1

I am unable to sync my touch or ipad to itunes. I am using windows 8.1.  all software is current as far as up dates goes.  I don't know where to go from here.

If iTunes does not see the devices:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    - I would start with
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
    or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
    - New cable and different USB port
    - Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause

  • Cannot get ipod to work or sync with Itunes.

I have tried to connect my ipod to Itunes several times and it does not work.It just a red circle with an x in it.Can anyone help me?

Does it charge from the power outlet?  If not, try a different cable to see if yours is bad.  If still no luck it could be a bad dock connector and a visit to the Apple store genius bar will probably help.
