Cannot get net-snmp to start!!!

Newbie question...
I have installed net-snmp on a V880 running Solaris 9. The install appeared to complete without issue. However, when I attempt to start snmp, I get the following...
bash-2.05# /etc/init.d/init.snmpdx start
bash-2.05# ./snmpd -f -L
[init_smux] bind failed: Address already in use
Error opening specified endpoint "udp:161"
Server Exiting with code 1
ps -ef confirmes that net-snmp is the only version of snmp running on this machine...
bash-2.05# ps -ef | grep snmp
root 27603 1 0 10:57:29 ? 0:00 /usr/local/sbin/snmpd
root 3953 27727 0 11:01:41 pts/3 0:00 grep snmp
I don't think that there is anything else occupying this port...
bash-2.05# lsof -i udp:161
COMMAND PID USER FD TYPE DEVICE SIZE/OFF NODE NAME
snmpd 27603 root 18u IPv4 0x30a267379c0 0t0 UDP *:161 (Idle)
and snmp seems to be reading in the correct config files...
bash-2.05# /usr/local/sbin/snmpd -Dread_config -H 2>&1 | grep "Reading" | sort -u
read_config: Reading configuration /usr/local/share/snmp/snmpd.conf
read_config: Reading configuration /var/net-snmp/snmpd.conf
I am a beginner, so please be merciful...but I would appreciate any advice as to what I'm doing wrong.
Thanks in advance...
Stephen

Can you tell me , how to do fix this problem
[myserver01:]# /usr/local/sbin/snmpd -f -L

Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility and press the Continue button. After Disk Utility loads select the Macintosh HD entry from the the left side list.  Click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If Disk Utility reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit Disk Utility and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.
Download and install the OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 Combo Update.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
    Alternatively, see:

Choose the version you have installed now:
OS X Yosemite- Reinstall OS X
OS X Mavericks- Reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Reinstall OS X
OS X Lion- Reinstall Mac OS X

I keep getting an error message that says that the hard drive cannot be repaired.  Therefore I cannot get the computer to start up.

It doesn't sound like you are doing anything incorrectly from what I can see. Have you tried restarting the iPad and then see if you can backup?
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

Try the suggestions here to see if they resolve your problem:

If these don't work you may have a hardware problem. Visit an Apple store for an evaluation or contact Apple Support.

  • Cannot get Lightroom trial to start on Windows 8 [was:lightroom]

I cannot get lightroom trial to start. I am using windows 8

I think you're getting the wrong end of the stick.
Nothing to do with Lightroom not supporting your browser.
It's a download issue often resolved by using a different browser.
You could be downloading any software. This case just happens to be Lightroom. But it's not Lightroom's fault. It's the Adobe website.
Anyway, I've got to go. Best of luck.

    As stated in 1.:
    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem.
Obviously, it will not harm your computer provided you follow the instructions. However, if you don't post your results in the thread where you were given those instructions, then the person helping you cannot help you further. As he asks at the end, "please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created."

Hi. I have a MacBook Pro with OS10.6.8 and cannot get internet pages to load on my WiFi network at home. Can anyone suggets how I can fix it, as the MBP appears to be fine, its updated with all the latest versions of software and the WiFi network is also fine....just not with my MBP??

  • I cannot get my Mini to start up?

Also cannot get the Apple Cinema Display to start up.  Yesterday I hooked up the Cinema Display to my MacBook and used the large screen with that.  Then today when I hooked up the Mac Mini and Cinema Display by themselves they will not start up.

Didn't have the mini hooked up correctly.  The power cord was not in the power port on the rear of the Mini.  Then I had to reset the PMU.  Now all is fine.  It never pays to be in a hurry.  But it does pay to search for the correct answer in the Apple Support Communities.  Have a great day!

  • I cannot get Net Nanny to block offensive sites with Firefox 22.

Net Nanny blocked offensive websites with version 21, but I cannot get it to work with 22. I either need to be able to go back to 21, or find out how to fix the problem with 22.

Firefox 22 and up broke Net Nanny ability to filter https. Sites that use https will usually generate a "Connection reset" message. If you turn of "filter secure content" then the site will not be accessible in spite of Net Nanny even with a specific web exception put in place. You will need to rollback to Firefox 21.

    Hi
    1. Looking carefully at the following 3 lines in server statup logs, after 2:20:39 PM GST, server waited like for 16 mts like 2:36:43 and invoked the Force Shutdown. Possible reasons I gave below.
    ####<Feb 14, 2010 2:20:37 PM GST> <Info> <netuix> <ePIMSEDMS2> <AdminServer> <[ACTIVE] ExecuteThread: '3' for queue: 'weblogic.kernel.Default (self-tuning)'> <<WLS Kernel>> <1266142837729> <BEA-423101> <[console] Initializing the NetUIx container>

    2. Since you mentioned this worked fine and nothing else is changed over a year, the possible cause may be like this. Looks like you have some Documentum stuff (or webapp or modules) loaded on this server. I am not much familiar with EMC Documentum stuff, except that we use that as external Content Management repository for Portal Applications. Looking at the full thread dump for thread 0, looks like documentum code is trying to publish something or interact with its documentum server and may be it is not getting the response back. So make sure if any external systems that this WLS interacts are all up and running.

  • WLS 10.0 cannot get Admin Console to start

    Hi,
We have WLS 10.0 with Jrocket on a Windows Server.
We have two domains and they have been working fine for well over a year until this morning. I cannot bring up the Admin Console for the 2 domains. The domains are setup to start up automatically and they get stopped and started every Saturday. This week the restart seems to have failed, The services were showing as started but we could not login into the WLS Admin Console or the web applications that the domains host.
As far as i know nothing should have changed with the server.
Event viewer is not showing any issues.
I tried to start the WLS for the 'da' domain from the cmd line and am now seeing the following in the AdminServer.log (FYI, the domain log is not being created). I have had to remove some lines to make the post :

There is enough memory, and the CPU usaage does not get too high.
I have searched the forums and cant find what could be causing the blocking.
The startup hangs at the following line :
    <Notice> <WebLogicServer> <BEA-000365> <Server state changed to STARTING>
doing a Ctrl-C to stop the startup then produces the dump entries in the adminserver.log file :
There is no error or warning in the adminserver.log file.
What should I be checking to find out what is going on ? is this a known issue ?
    Thanks.

    Hi
    ####<Feb 14, 2010 2:20:39 PM GST> <Info> <netuix> <ePIMSEDMS2> <AdminServer> <[ACTIVE] ExecuteThread: '3' for queue: 'weblogic.kernel.Default (self-tuning)'> <<WLS Kernel>> <1266142839433> <BEA-423120> <WEB-INF/client-classifications.xml file not found at uri [webapp]. Classifications functionality not enabled.>
    ####<Feb 14, 2010 2:36:43 PM GST> <Notice> <WebLogicServer> <ePIMSEDMS2> <AdminServer> <Thread-1> <<WLS Kernel>> <1266143803604> <BEA-000388> <JVM called WLS shutdown hook. The server will force shutdown now>

  • I cannot get my photoshop to start up

I tried to start up my photoshop this afternoon to edit and was shown a dialog box saying that my 30 day free trial was up and I needed to license it. I called Adobe and had to wait nearly 2 hours to get in touch with someone. Then he told me he would have to call me back at 3:30 and he never did. As of now, I have been on hold for an hour(when the wait time said 20 minutes) and I STILL cannot access my photoshop

  • Cannot get Oracle 10g to start on a G5.  Floating point exception

After a very painful 10g (EE) installation process i.e fixing all the following:
    1) Created the missing /opt directory
    2) Installation of XCode 1.2
    3) Fixing the root.sh file
    4) Downloaded the crstl file provided by Ron
    5) Copied /etc/oratab/oratab to /etc/oratab
I tried bringing up the Oracle 10g instance by logging onto Sql*Plus as sysdba and running
startup nomount pfile ='/Users/oracle/admin/db01/scripts/init.ora''. The instance comes up for a few socunds and crashes. This is what i get in the alert.log

I remember that i had the very same issue with the
    Oracle 9i R2 Developers release.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. You mentioned the 9ir2 release. Do you still have any reference to the 9ir2 software in your environment ? With a little luck you have, and in that case it not so hard to find a solution ...

I just upgraded to foxfire 6 from 5. It will not start. I tried completelyo removeing foxfire (including the cookies, favorites, cache, etc). That didn't fix anything. I also went thru your help page and to be hosest, found it worthless.

    I presume you read this?
    http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Networkmanager#KDE4
I just installed this recently and am using nm flawlessly on my desktop.  I just followed the wiki.
After installing the applet (pacman -S kdeplasma-applets-networkmanager) as it said in the wiki I was able to merely right click on it to get a menu to set up everything.  I'm using the standard KDE4 though.
I'm guessing you might have this one installed since you state kdemod?
There is new version of KNetworkManager in [kdemod-core] providing system tray icon and configuration:
    # pacman -S kdemod-networkmanagement-knetworkmanager-kde4
