Cannot get OS X Lion to download from the App store

When trying to download os x lion to my mac book it initially would not download because i had no to updated the software on my computer. Once i did update i tried to redeem my code in the app store like i did previously and it said that the code had already been used even though the new system never downloaded to my computer. I looked under purchases and it was there and i clicked the download button again and nothing happens & i even checked for unfinished downloads and nothing happened again. help please ive been trying all day. thanks

Welcome to Apple Support Communities
The OS X Lion installer takes more than 4 GB of space, so it is normal for most Internet connections to take the download more than an hour.
If you want to see the download progress, open the Mac App Store and go to Purchases.
Before upgrading, make a backup of your files with Time Machine and check that your apps are compatible > http://www.roaringapps.com

I can purchase Apps or purchase songs from iTunes; just cannot download.  I get "An error has occurred" (on Purchases Page)  I get an alert when downloading from the App Store to go the Purchases Page and try downloading.
This is on my MacBook Pro running ML. (v.10.8.2)  I can sign into my account using my wife's MacBook Air and download all day in either iTunes or the App Store.  I can also download with my iPad.
I really am at a loss.  There may be more that I have done but right now I am burnt out and tired of this.  Apple Support has been no help.
I would greatly appreciate any help.
    Tks in advance.

  • HT4993 I cannot download from the app store

Why the fck does it say that?!?!?!?!

  • Why is when I try to download from the App Store, it says "The application cannot be downloaded." I do have an ID account and my software has been updated.

Hello there, I'm new to the Apple world, and I'm still learning my way around.
Why is when I try to download from the App Store, it says "The application cannot be downloaded."
It doesn't ask me for payment or anything. When I click on download, about 10 seconds later, that message pops up and nothing is downloaded onto my laptop. I can download other stuff onto my laptop for e.g. Microsoft Word and other various programs such as Google Chrome from the internet. However, I just cannot download from App Store. Any suggestions on how I can download apps?

There is nothing wrong with my iTunes, is more of the App store that I am concerned about. And I've tried the "Authorise this computer" yes it does download when using iTunes, but no luck with App Store. And, yes I am logged onto iTunes when doing purchases.
I find this really fustrating because the App store works fine on my ipod but once it comes to my macbook, it does not download. A few seconds later after I click on an app to download, the pop up message notifies me that the purchase cannot be downloaded.
    Anyways, thanks for your suggestion.

  • I have my new HD in a USB enclosure connected to my MacBook Pro and I want to put a fresh copy of Mountain Lion on it. But I do not have an install DVD as I got ML as a download from the App Store. What do I do?

I have my new HD in a USB enclosure connected to my MacBook Pro and I want to put a fresh copy of Mountain Lion on it. I'm told that I need to boot from the Installation Disk to start. But I do not have an install DVD as I got ML as a download from the App Store. Can I download ML from the App Store again, but this time directly to my new HD?

Create a data recovery/undelete external boot drive
You can also use Carbon Copy Cloner to clone your present setup to it and boot from it.
    Most commonly used backup methods
However, SOME external enclosures are not bootable, you will soon find out.

    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

  • HT1444 Where in the h--- do downloads from the app store go on a laptop?

So, I purchased an upgrade from apple, available for download from the app store. I entered my redemption code, and the store said my upgrade was downloading. No progress bar, no nothing. And I have no idea where it went on my hard drive. Where do those things go?

    OSX 7 -- Lion.
So, I found the install, and now it's telling me that my install disk is not journaled, which it is. I checked with Get Info, and with Disk Utility. Frustrating.

  • Can't open TurboTax 2013 because it was not downloaded from the App Store

I downloaded TurboTax 2013 directly from Intuit.  When I launch it, I get the error message "This application cannot be opened because it was not downloaded from the App Store."  It was not downloaded from the App Store because the App Store doesn't have the version I need.  Now what?

I think you should use the new version for free turbotax. I have used turbo tax 2014 recently.
From Apple store you will defiitely get this software easily.

  • TS1702 I downloaded from the Apps.store a game named 'Ninja Run'. When I was playing this game, I got out and then received a message,'"Do you want to buy 5 revivals for Rs.170/-?". When I clicked the "Buy"

I downloaded from the Apps.store a game named,"Ninja Run". When I was plkaying the game, I got out and a message appeared, asking me whether I would like to buy 5 revivals for Rs.170/-. When I hit the,"Buy"button, I was asked to confirm my Credit card details. I confirmed it and was asked to enter the Security Code. When I did so,, a message appeared telling me that the Security Code was invalid and the purchase could not be completed. When I continued the game and got out again, the message appeared again asking me whether I wanted to buy. Thinking that my purchase was not completed, I again hit the,"Buy" button. Nothing happened. I continued the game and when I got out, I received the same message and obliged accordingly. This went on for three or more times. By this time, however I got confused and quit the game. All these things happened on 6th September 2013. The next day,I was shocked to see 5 receipts from the Apple Apps.store in the In Box of my email account, each for Rs.170/-
totalling Rs850/. Worse still, when I played the game the next day and got out and asked for a revival, would you believe it, I was again asked whether I would like to buy 5 revivals for Rs.170/-.
Thus,I ended up buying a game for Rs.850/- while the actual price is only Rs.170/-,and not even able to play the full game.
Could anyone please tell me whether I can get a refund of Rs.680/-,the extra amount I  paid for this game.
I will be much thankful to anyone who can guide me and help me claim the refund. Thank everyone.

    Hi,
Install the v10.6.6 combo update available here. It's ok to do this even though you are already running v10.6.6. The combo includes fixes that were not included in the original update.

Restart your Mac and try the MAS again.
You can download apps directly from the MAS once you have it running.
Considering the TM backup took so long, make sure there's enough space on your Mac startup disk.
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. *Make sure you always have a minimum of 15% free disk space.*
