Cannot get PhotoStream to work on the Mac

Any ideas on this?
I'm running Lion latest build, latest iphoto but PhotoStream will not enable. Its on in the iCloud preferences, but for the life of me i cannot get it to work.

Came across the same odity.
Remdey for me was:
1. quit iPhoto
2. open System Preferences and go into the iCloud prefs
3. enable Photo Stream
4. open iPhoto
It didn't seem to work instantly with these steps, I have switched it off once and back on again, but I think iPhoto was open somewhere in the procedure.
No restart was required.

It used to be that when I created a pdf from a word or publisher document, hyperlinks worked fine. Now I cannot get them to work unless the text displayed for the link is the complete address and it all appears on one line. Why?

You can print to the Adobe PDF printer, but that only creates links that Acrobat or Reader recognize as such. That is the reason for needing the entire URL on one line. It is not actually an embedded link, but one created by Acrobat on the fly. With OFFICE 2013 you have two choices: 1. create the PDF with the print to Adobe PDF and then add the links in Acrobat so that they are complete or 2. I think the WORD save as PDF or XPS will create the PDF with links, but not sure. If so, that would be the quickest solution for you, but be aware of potential problems with the MS plugin.
Of course, the third option is to upgrade to XI which can be done with AA 9. You will probably not be eligible for a for an upgrade to whatever the next version will be.

I have a xD-PictureCard that I want to load pictures onto, from my iPhotos. The reader is a FinePix can I get it to work on the Mac. when I try it wont install the software. Is there any way i can load pics onto the SD card.

I have a xD-PictureCard (SD Card) that works in a picture frame. I have used it in the past on a Windows computer, now having an apple I want to change the pics and cannot. When I reload the discs for Mac they won't install. Is there anything I can do to put the pics on the SD card, I don't want to throw away the picture frame it cost a lot of money.

This should be perfectly possible and without loading any software at all.
Get a Card Reader for the XD card, and plug it into the Mac. It will then appear on the desktop. Drg the files to the Card. Make sure you keep the folder structure used on the Card - don't change that.

I signed up for Sync on an old Mac. I cannot get it to work on new Mac. Nothing is transferring. Your online help is no help.

Which version of Firefox were you last using on the old Mac?
You would have had to have been using a Firefox 29 version or higher for that Firefox installation to be compatible with the current version of Sync.

WPS54GU2 printing to parallel printer with Windows 7 64-bit-cannot get it to work for the life of me

I am having the worst difficulties getting the WPS54GU2 to print to a HP Laserjet 4L printer. I know that the general communication is working as I am able to print a test page from the
I have the IP address correct for the print server (in my case it is 192.168.1.103) and is set statically in the print server setup.
I have it working fine on an XP box The port name configured on the XP machine is LK89A0B5_P1.
The software that comes with the WPS print server will not install on Windows 7 so the address/port/queue must
be set up manually.
I have tried the link from Cisco's KB that shows how to configure the print sever:

however this does not work and the print job either gets stuck in the print queue, or it shows busy/error in the print queue.
I have also tried suggestions on this forum that say not to create a TCP/IP port but instead use LPR port.
Can someone please give me the solution that will work. I have heard people say to use L1 for the queue name, or P1, or LP1
or lp1. I cannot spend much more time on this before I give up and look for a different print server that will work with both parallel and USB printers.

sometimes it needs the device- specific drivers to get it to work; especially that you have a 64- bit OS.
the print server is already connected to the network, right? what is its IP address? check if the computer can ping that IP by going to start> search> cmd> ping 192.168.1.78 (change this to the correct IP address). if your computer can ping the print server then you can setup LPR printing to get your printing jobs done. click on the link below for more info.

I Have a diabetes monitor free style insulinx but it does not work on the lion operating system. Has anyone managed to get this to work.
Initially it started to load the application but then stopped and would not work.
Any ideas, I am reliably informed that it use to work on the leopard and snow leopard operating system.
Apple are you able to assist.
I have spoken to insulinx but they state it will have to come from Apple and if and when insulinx find a fix they will let me know, but who knows how long that will be.
any advice would be welcome.

I had the same problem and called Abbott with no luck.
But I found a way, there is a new version 1.2 out there that works but it cannot be installed directly on Lion.
You need access to a Leapard or Snow Leapard computer.
1. Install on Lion (I know it installs but it does not work)
2. Install from your meter on and update the software from there to 1.2
3. Copy the installation folder from the application folder of Leapard to Lion Application folder
4. Launch the app and it will see your meter.

You'll want to have your husband sign up on the older iPad with his own Apple ID. First, on the old iPad, sign out of your Apple ID:
To sign out of your Apple ID
Go to Settings > FaceTime, tap your Apple ID, and select Sign Out.
Then, sign in with the other Apple ID, and that should work. If it doesn't work after having separate Apple IDs on each iPad, check out the following document where, towards the bottom, there is a "Troubleshooting FaceTime calls" section:

Cannot get camera to work for the first time.

I cannot get the camera to work . I have the IPad2 and just tried to use it this week. Have tried turning on &off and nothing is working. The video will not come on either. Any ideas.

Have you tried closing the Camera app completely and seeing if it works when you re-open the app ? From the home screen (i.e. not with Camera 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Camera app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset (if that wasn't what you meant by turning the iPad off and on) : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

I have to set up 30 ipad 2's with restrictions set on them for the students...i created the configuration profile and click install and nothing happens...i have been to the extensive (two article) help tutorial...i have done everything it says to do...i cannot email the config to them because we don't want them using email...so not wanting to set up 30 ipads with an email addy...was wondering if there was another program with better tech support articles and is easy to set up and use...this is kinda useless...

Jaheedi, it sounds like you've tried a lot to make this work....my experience has been that in mlost cases if a profile fails to install it is usually due to a required payload not having been configured. It can happen if a payload category gets opened(General for example) inadvertently and then payloads within that category are not completed.(Identifier for example), then the profile will fail to install. Also, I've only got it to reliably work over a USB connection ( we use encrypted profiles with a "with authentication" removal option).....you might try installing a very basic profile with just the General Payload category expanded ( and required payloads completed) and see if that works..if that works, it probably is one of the other categories is incomplete. If you haven't tried the above, I hope this helps a bit.

I cannot get homesharing to work on the new itunes.

Both computers are authorized, they are on the same connection, I've checked everything. It used to work, but they were updated and now they won't work. Before moving out I transferred half of my library but after I came back to get the rest of it and it won't work. It's making me really upset! I go back to school in a week and I want the rest of my music! What the heck itunes!

I don't know if you need to turn Home Sharing back on or recycle through Off an On for both Machines.
File> Home Sharing > Turn on Home Sharing
Or if it is not running the
File > Home Sharing > Turn on Home Sharing
With my wifes machine I was only seeing part of her library. Stopped and started Home Sharing and it was fine.

Cannot get permissions to work on my Mac

I accidentally erased something in my macbook earlier today trying to free up some space on my harddrive. I think i erased some files in the itunes folder
so now when I sync my Iphone to itunes, it erased all my apps because I dont have permission to have it and when I got to authorize my computer it doesnt allow me to.
I have done all the steps I could find online. I did the disk repair thing and i also went to shared get info and went to sharing & permissions. The only thing I find weird there is I have a folder called unknown read only and i only have me Ready and write and everyone read & write, i keep reading about a "wheel" but i dont have that. I always have tried to add it but i cant.. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!!!!!!
Oh i also uninstalled itunes and installed it again and Nothing.!!!!!!!!!!!

try this:
check if you have read & write permissions for your music folder. in finder, right-click on it and +get info+. unlock the little padlock (you may have to enter your admin password) and change the permission settings. next, click on the little gear-shaped icon and +apply to enclosed items+ like so
you may also give everyone read & write access.
the important part is to *apply to enclosed items* !
