I've been searching all morning and have tried everything in every post I can find on the subject and I just cannot get the skin controls to show in my movie

I cannot get photos to show full screen in slideshow

I'm cannot get photos to show in full screen on slideshow while mirroring to my TV

I don't use netflix yet on mine but the slow startup I might be able to help. I just restarted mine and in maybe 5 seconds is restarted.
If you have a lot of programs running in the background that may be causing the slow start or shutdown. To close those running programs, 4 finger upto get to the running programs and to close them, tap one and hold for a second and flip upwards,, it will go off the top of the screen, closing it. Do this with all that you want closed, there will only be the main screen you can't close that will be left.
I also shut off location services, Bluetooth and under safari there a use data option which for some reason turned on but I could have clicked yes somewhere and those got turned on, but I turned them off since I don't need them on.
Then try a restart.

VM cannot get IP and shows host MAC in event logs

I have a strange issue where the VM on a user's laptop worked fine in the office with a Wireless NIC but when he got home we began having some problems (no network in the VM, only get 169.x.x.x IP in the VM, host network connection drops when we try
to access or configure the networking inside the VM).
Here is what I know so far:
Bridge exists on host (wireless NIC to virtual NIC) and is enabled
Adapter in VM has MAC of 00-15-5D-0A-A5-00, cannot get IP
VM settings for the wireless NIC show the MAC is Dynamic and the one assigned is within the range setup on the Virtual Switch
Adapter on host has MAC of 9C-4E-36-AC-83-68, gets IP of 192.168.0.14
In the VM, you cannot renew or assign an IP, it says the MAC exists on the network and has an address assigned. Network connectivity also drops if you try to renew the IP
In the system event logs on the VM, I see TCPIP event 4199, exact message is - The system detected an address conflict for IP address 192.168.0.14 with the system having hardware address 9C-4E-36-AC-83-68.
There are no errors in the event logs on the host.
Deleting the NIC inside the VM and removing/re-adding it to the VM settings does not resolve it
Deleting and recreating the virtual switch does not resolve it
The option to allow the management OS to also use the wireless NIC is enabled on the virtual switch.
The wired connection also worked in our office during the build and testing but he doesn't not have a cable at home for me to test the wired there.
We have another machine which is configured the same way and is working correctly, both in the office and offsite.
Why is the VM trying to use the host MAC to get an IP, shouldn't it be using the one assigned by Hyper-V? Could this be an issue with his home office network or maybe specifically with his WAP? What other items could cause this?
I have asked my user to go connect to a wireless network in a different location and test it but I haven't heard back from him yet.

1 - Unfortunately I can't test this, the router is supplied by his ISP and is not one that we have any management capabilities on.
2 - Any time I access network information in the VM (even just to run "ipconfig /all" at a command line), the network drops temporarily on the host and I loose access to it.
3 - I've not used this before, I'll check it out.
It seemed really odd to me that the VM showed the host MAC in the event logs when everything else in the VM shows the one assigned by Hyper-V.
Do you know if the "Virtual Networking and Wireless network adapters" entry in Ben Armstrong's Virtualization blog still applies in Windows 8.1? It won't let me post the link to it directly, sorry.
I've seen it referred to recent posts but it's from 2005.

I have an Ipod Video 60 GB (1st Gen from 2006) and I cannot get it to show up in my iTunes version 11.0 that I just upgraded to. It won't show up as a disk under Disk Utility either. I cannot get it to stop saying "Do Not Disconnect" to use it either.

I have had the same issue with my Ipod Nano (bought 2011). It would not show up in Itunes on my macbook unibody (2009). Please help!

Restoring your iPod to factory settings is the best way to try and get it back to working order. You can use the instructions below to restore it:
How to restore iPod
Verify that you have an active Internet connection, because you may need to download new versions of the iTunes and iPod Software.
Download and install the latest version of iTunes if necessary.
Open iTunes. Connect your iPod to your computer using the USB or FireWire cable that came with your iPod.
After a few moments, your iPod will appear in the Source panel in iTunes.
Select your iPod in the Source panel. You will see information about your iPod appear in the Summary tab of the main iTunes window.
Click Restore.
If you are using a Mac, you will be asked to enter an administrator’s name and password.
A progress bar will appear on the computer screen, indicating that stage one of the restore process has begun. When this stage is done, iTunes will present one of two messages with instructions specific to the iPod model you are restoring.
Disconnect iPod and connect it to iPod Power Adapter (typically applies to older iPod models).
Leave iPod connected to computer to complete restore (typically applies newer iPod models).
During stage two of the restore process, the iPod displays an Apple logo as well as a progress bar at the bottom of the display. It is critical that the iPod remain connected to the computer or iPod power adapter during this stage.
Note: The progress bar may be difficult to see, because the backlight on the iPod display may be off.
After stage two of the restore process is complete, the iTunes Setup Assistant window will appear. It will ask you to name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences, as it did when you connected your iPod for the first time.

I cannot get a TV show from Itunes to play on my Ipad. I originally downloaded in HD but have since deleted and re-downloaded SD. I have also downloaded directly to PC and transferred back to IPad without success. It does work on PC

I recently purchased season 7 of entourage from Itunes and downloaded directly to IPad2. When I selected to play the tv shows the screen would go black and become disabled. I have to hit the home page to exit and then search for another movie in my ipad to get access to the library again. I have tried downloading directly to PC and then transferring to IPad without success. I don't think it is the download itself because I can play the tv shows on the pc and my iphone. Am I missing a setting? also, I can watch other tv shows or movies so my video app is not completely fouled up.

Sometimes simply restarting your iTunes, the computer and the iPad is all that it takes to correct an issue like this so try that. Quit iTunes, reboot your computer, and restart the iPad. Then try the sync again.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

Cannot get progress to show in app store download of Mountain Lion

Having to re-download Mountain Lion on my mid 2009 MBP from overseas. The ML app shows "downloading" in dock with progress bar under it (and just a hint of blue for hours now), but in the App Store on the Purchases tab it just shows the Mountain Lion app with a gray "Download" button. I want to see the progress of the download since I'm overseas and it could take a couple days. If I click on the "Download" button it goes clear for a minute but goes back to the gray "Download". I've tried closing and re-opening App Store, restarting the computer and I've also tried doing it all in Safe Mode. No difference. I can't be sure something is actually happening without a progress meter. Any ideas out there?

There may be no apparent "progress bar" in the App Store. It may be a bug associated with this particular download. Unfortunately I am not in a position to determine if this is related to you being overseas or not.
To determine if it is actually downloading use Launchpad. You should see a fairly obvious new icon with an associated progress bar. Make sure you check every Launchpad page by swiping left / right.
The downloaded file will also be in your Applications folder. When it finishes, it looks like this (Mavericks icons are shown; Mountain Lion is similar):
Check your Downloads folder. Before it finishes downloading, it will have a "progress bar" at the bottom. While it is downloading it looks like this:
If it's paused, click the icon to restart it.
Once it completes the icon will appear in Applications and Launchpad, it's just easier to find in Launchpad.

If it really is not downloading read Mac App Store: How to resume interrupted downloads
Open the Mac App Store.
From the Store menu, choose Sign In.
Enter your Apple ID and password.
Click Purchases to get to your Purchases Page.
Click the Resume button next to the app name.
If that doesn't work, "sign out" of the App Store, and sign back in again.
If that doesn't work, try restarting your Mac.
If that doesn't work, write back.

Cannot get iTunes to show contact groups to sync.

I have read several different posts about creating contact groups to tranfer between iTunes8 and my iPhone 3G v2.1.
I have tried all of them and no matter what I do, whether it was Outlook 2007 or the Windows Contacts, I never get the option to select groups.
When I open iTunes, I go to the Info tab. Sync Contacts with Outlook is selected, and the radio button for All Contacts is selected, but the other radio button for Selected groups: is grayed out as well as the box below and I cannot select it.
I assume that this is telling me that iTunes does not see any groups in Outlook 2007 to sync, but I have created several test groups in different manners and this is always the case.
Anyone have ideas? I have several hundred contacts and would love to have about 5 or 6 groups so that I can find them easier, even though the finger slide is pretty easy, I just want better organization and I would imagine that with a phone that is so full featured, that there must be a way to do it.

How did you create your groups? I'd like to do the same, and came across some stuff in Outlook 2007's help file last night that makes me wonder if this is something that needs to be done with Business Contact Manager for Outlook? I have heard that the built-in iPhone contacts app recognizes/works with groups.

Cannot get videos to show up in my Keynote presentation

Ok, I am new to this whole Mac thing. I have watched a few tutorials on how to add youtube videos to Keynote. So I downloaded the video, converted it from a FLV to a MOV using quicktime pro, and then I test them to make sure they play correctly. After that I click the media icon and the videos show up as little square with no picture. Then when I go to insert the video into my presentation, it appears on the slide as a blank box. No outline, nothing! The only way you know that it is there is by clicking the general area where you placed it and you get the outline of a box. Can anyone please tell me what I am doing wrong?

can you play the converted movie in QuickTime on your desktop?
could you have used some weird codec in the conversion inside of QuickTime? choose H.264 or PhotoJpeg.

Cannot get music to show up; tried transfer purchases

Here's my problem, I have songs that I have purchased from iTunes in the past that I have removed from my iPhone. Now I want them on again. I tried adding them to my music library by "add file to library". The songs showed up in the iTunes library but when I would sync it the songs wouldn't show up on the iphone. So I then did transfered purchases, now the songs show up on my music library and in the library under the iPhone icon as well, when I look under music library under the iPhone icon on my computer. Everything appears to say that this song is on my phone. This is where it gets frusterating, It doesn't show up on my phone when I go to unlock it and look at the phone itself.
So I tried redownloading it through the phone. When I did it the download was successful. When I plug my iPhone to my computer and look at iTunes it says I bought it but I still can't find it on the actual phone! It only shows up on iTunes and iTunes says its on my iPhone but its not there.
(btw I tried playing the song on iTunes and it plays fine. Plus I have an iPhone 3G)

Welcome to the Discussions Boards.
There are a couple of possibilities here.
First, make sure both iTunes and the iPhone are up to date.
You might try deauthorizing and reauthorizing your computer:

Try downloading a fresh music file from the iTunes Store on the computer and syncing it to the iPhone.
Download the Free Single of the Week on your computer.
Sync it to the iPhone.
If it syncs successfully, check to see what ID is associated with the songs that don't sync by right-clicking on the song and choosing Get Info.
It is possible that the audio files themselves are the cause of the issue.
If ID matches and the issue persists, it may be the iTunes Library data file is not functionally intact:

I cannot get captcha to show up at all, on any of my browsers (Firefox being the main one, also I have IE, Opera & Chrome, please help?

Everytime I come across a site that requires an captcha code, it's always blank, I cannot enter anything because no codes are visible and the audio option doesn't work either (even though my audio in general works fine) It works in none of my other browsers and I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling firefox as well as clearing my cache and cookies, but nothing, please help? thanks!

If images are missing then check that you aren't blocking images from some domains.
*Check the permissions for the domain in the current tab in "Tools > Page Info > Permissions"
*Check that images are enabled: Tools > Options > Content: [X] Load images automatically
*Check the exceptions in "Tools > Options > Content: Load Images > Exceptions"
*Check the "Tools > Page Info > Media" tab for blocked images (scroll through all the images with the cursor Down key).
If an image in the list is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box "<i>Block Images from...</i>" then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.
Make sure that you do not block third-party images, the permissions.default.images pref should be 1.

I have an iPhone 5 on which I have an iCloud calendar that has a ScoutTrack calendar linked to it. I want to link the ScoutTrack calendar to the iCloud calendar on my HP laptop but cannt do it. All of my other calendar info is present but not the ScoutTrack info. Any suggestions?

You'll have to get the address for the calendar you want and subscribe to it (in Outlook) on the HP.
