Cannot get software update to work!!

i have been having problems getting Software up dat to work. I have reinstalled the OS which is OS10.5 i Am connected to the internet. and have tried everything that i can think of to get it to work but it keeps coming up with this error msg: Software Update can’t connect to the update server. Make sure you’re connected to the Internet, then try again. Software Update can't check for updates because of a network problem. can anyone solve this problem? its making me crazy. On another issue, i have a magic mouse that used to work perfectly, ever since i reinstalled the OS the scrolling and other finger gestures dont work. I searched all over the place for a soft ware download with the proper Magic Mouse drivers and have come up empty handed. anyone know of a link? Hope you geniuses out there can help me resolve this issue. thanks in advance. stogie002

please disreagrd the second part about the magic mouse. I was able to find the software download and it's working perfectly. But I still need help on the application " Software Update" .

Getting Software Update to work?

Hi guys,
We're looking into trying to get Software Update to work on our Xserve.
The network team have put the IP address into their Inty client to allow us direct access to the net.
Problem is that when I start up the service and click update list nothing happens even tho it's downloaded some updates perviously (So confused.com)
Looking back through the logs to see what the **** has gone wrong I found this under each log:

In the Xserve the options I have selected are the following services:
* AFP
* Netboot
* NFS
* Open Directory
* SMB
* Software Update
Can someone please offer some advice on what I need to do to get this service working. As it would be handy to get the Mac's to communicate with the xserve rather than going to the net or sending the updates to the Mac's and not logging on each one at a time

I cannot get my update to work at all . The firefox app icon and arrow pointing to the Applications file appears on my desktop again and again. I keep putting in the folder but it refuses to work. I have Mac OSX 10.6.8

I downloaded the update file and moved in to the Applications folder as asked , it is there as an alias . There is a new icon on my desktop . I cannot move to the dock however . I click on both this icon and the one in apps and it keeps giving me my original box with Firefox icon, arrow and apps folder. I am going round and round and getting no where!

How can I get software update to work on my iMac?

I get message that there are no updates available but I suspect that's incorrect. I'm running 10.4.11, but there must be some updates since this past January that I have not been able to get. What's the issue?

10.4.11 is the final version of the now obsolete Tiger, which is no longer supported by Apple.
There will be no further updates.

Software Update now working

Hello,
Just recently, my Software Update is not working.
I choose Software Update and it goes to the window that says "Checking for new software." The blue bar just sits at about 1/8 done and does nothing from that point. I can even leave it overnight and there is no progress.
I have tried repairing my permissions as well as trashing my preps in both my main and user Preferences folder for softwareupdate with no luck.
I just tried reinstalling 10.5.6 and no luck.
Any ideas what I can do to get Software Update to work?

Apple Software Update Not Working

I cannot get Apple Software Update to work on my Windows XP Pro system. It simply says that new software was found but it did not specify which Apple software needs to be updated. I am using iTunes, QuickTime, and Safari. Any help appreciated!

The latest version numbers (at the time I'm making this post) are:
iTunes 10.6.3.25
QuickTime 7.7.2
Safari 5.1.7

Can't connect to Software Update not working

My Software Update is no longer working (it just suddenly stopped). When I try to launch it, I get
Software Update can't find the update server. Make sure you're connected to the Internet, then try again. Software update can't check for updates because of a network problem.
I'm then given the option to run Network Diagnostics. When I do, I get the following:
Cannot connect to server - Network Diagnostics was able to connect to the Internet, but not to the server "su.local" This could be caused by problems with the server, or an Internet problem between this computer and the server.
I've been manually updating OS updates, but not sure I'm getting all the ones I need.

Hello and welcome to the discussions. The server "su.local" sounds like your home network. My Software updates (10.5.6) come in on ports 80 and tcp port 6. Perhaps you have your computer accessing a local server first before it reaches the net.

Do you mean you cannot get Windows Update to run, you may try the following steps:
1. Check Windows Update service's running status, make sure it is automatic. If not, change and start it. Please check the below mentioned services:
a. Background Intelligent Transfer Service
b. Cryptographic service
c. Windows Update
2. Your antivirus software may be conflicting with Windows Updates. You can test this by temporarily disabling your antivirus:
Disable Anti-virus software:

3. Use the System File Checker tool to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files on Windows Vista or on Windows 7

Mac Book Software Update not working (Software Update does not have any new software for your computer at this time), my current MacBook version is 10.5.8.
As a result I can't update iTunes, version 10.5.2 (This software requiers Mac OS X version 10.6.8 or later)
Now when I connect my iPhone 4, version iOS 6 iTunes can't connect to iPhone (The iPhone "XXXXX's iPhone" cannot be used because it requiers iTunes version 10.6.3 or later.)
so in a nutshell can't use iphone 4, because iTune is not updated and will not update because Mac Book is not up to date and will not update either.
Please help.

Snow Leopard is a paid upgrade. http://support.apple.com/kb/sp575 Call Apple to buy Snow Leopard. Then, make a backup, insert the DVD and upgrade. When it finishes, open  > Software Update

Cannot get windows update to run after hard drive install and recovery

I cannot get windows update to run after a new shdd 1 tb was installed.
I have a pavilion dv7 4083cl. My recovery set did not work so I used the OEM set.
Any help would be appreciated

I cannot get "home sharing" to work on my Apple TV device

I cannot get "home sharing" to work on Apple TV.I
I type in my apple id and password to no avail.
Why isn't the apple tv device taking this info and activating home share?

I am having the same problems with Home Sharing using the Apple TV. The problems seemed to appears to have started within the last week or so. Did updates and all. Went to the Apple TV and it couldn't see either Home Share on either computers that Home Share is turned ON. Reset the routers, reinstalled iTunes on the iMac and MacBookPro. Created a second Wi-Fi Access point using a Airport Express. Put the MacBookPro and TimeCapsule on the same network and still no love to see the Home Share contents.
We have had both Mac's and Apple TV for several years and have never had any problems like this.

I have new iPad latest os, windows vista w latest itunes update.. Cannot get home sharing to work.. Signing in and out, rebooting, reinstalling, has done nothing airplay works but no home sharing...???
I had similar issues a few years back.. Signing in and out helped.. But not this time..
