Cannot get sound through my surround sound tv - only pictures - sound works fine through tv speakers - why is this?

Apple TV is working for pictures and sound via my television speakers but I cannot get sound via my surround sound speakers with HDMI or an Optical Lead.
Anyone care to advise me what I may have done wrong in the connections?

If you have connected your TV by HDMI via your receiver and you get sound from your TV but not your receiver then the problem must lie within your receiver or its settings. Check the manual to ensure you have selected the correct settings for it.

Assuming that you havn't got your volume turned off, have you got notifications muted ? Only notifications (including games) get muted, so the iPod and Videos apps, and headphones, still get sound. Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon; press home again to exit the taskbar. The function that isn't on the side switch is set via the taskbar instead : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4085
If that isn't the case then try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

Cannot get sound working on vectra vl400

Hi all
I got a old vectra vl400 with no hard drive. I install a hard drive and I am running OS windows xp pro. I got the drivers for the chipset but ran in to problems with the sound drivers I cound not find any drivers for XP for the on-board sound. So I disable this in setup and installed a cheap pci sound card but again I cannot get this to work. If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

Well, it's a laptop, so they're build in. But to be sure I tested in Win8 (it's a dualboot) and there it works.

Cannot access internet through itunes after last itunes update. Cannot get to itunes store or itunes help. Everything else works fine.

After last itunes update I cannot get to the internet through itunes. Cannot get to itunes store, itunes help, etc. Also, now when I sync everything syncs properly but I get message at end that tells me that my phone cannot be backed up on the laptop.

Something may be corrupt in your iTunes installation. The backup problem may or may not be related. The first step is reboot your system, disable your antivirus and firewall and try again. The next thing to try is completely removing iTunes and reinstalling: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925.
Also, if you used TinyUmbrella or Recboot as unauthorized apps to help with the update they corrupted your network settings on your computer. You will have to edit your hosts file and remove all references to Apple servers.

Since last update, I cannot get an email account on my iPhone that I previously worked fine. Any suggestions?

Re iPhone 5: Since IOS 8 8.0.2 update, I cannot get email from 1 of the 2 email accounts (which is from the same internet provider). They use the same imap and smtp ports. Is that a problem? Or is it IOS? No problems previously. I can get both emails on iPad and Mac Air.

I reset by pressing power and menu button at same time until I saw the apple. Did not help. Deleted then added account back. Did not help. Next deleted account, reset again, added account back. Still does not work:( any other suggestions?

When the applications are next launched click and hold on the icon in the dock and select 'options>keep in dock'.

It sounds like you have disconnected the digital audio speakers from your MacBook Pro but all you have available in your audio settings. Take a look at this info from the following article named:

If the Internal Speakers option does not appear in the Output tab and your computer is not a Mac Pro, check that Digital Out is present as in the image below:
Confirm again that all external audio devices and cables have been removed.
Check to see if a red light is lit in the line-out port. If so, your Apple computer may need service.
If you do not see a red light, proceed to step 5.
If the issues persist, contact Apple support for further troubleshooting assistance.

Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Check your settings. The iPads have a small switch on the right edge. It can be used as a rotation lock to keep the screen from automatically reorienting itself as you move around, but you need to have the tablet’s settings configured properly. That same switch, right above the volume buttons, can also be set to function instead as a mute button to silence certain types of audio.
If the switch is set to work as a mute button, you can change its purpose to “screen-rotation lock” by tapping the Settings icon on the home screen. On the Settings screen, tap General on the left side, and on the right side of the screen flick down to “Use Side Switch to.” Tap to select Lock Rotation or Mute to set the button’s function. Even if you set the side switch for your preferred use, you can still mute the Mini or lock the screen. Just double-click the Home button, and when the panel of apps appears along the bottom edge of the screen, flick the row from left to right with your finger. Tap the icon on the far left side of the row to either lock the iPad’s screen or mute the iPad’s alerts, notifications and sound effects. Music, podcasts and video are not muted unless you turn the volume all the way down.

How old is your MBP? Some older MBPs don't support audio through HDMI, so you have to run a separate wire.
If your MBP is fairly recent, visit System Preferences > Sound > Output and select the device corresponding to your TV. (In my case, it includes the brand name of the TV in the "Name" column and "HDMI" in the "Type" column.)

Are the Bootcamp drivers installed?
