Cannot get TV to mirror mid-2009 Mac Book Pro screen

I previously had no trouble using my TV as a mirror for my mid-2009 MacBook Pro but suddenly found I could not longer do so. Sadly I cannot remember just how I set it up originally. Advice on the web entails going to Displays in Apple Preferences and then clicking on an Arrangement tab and then on a mirroring box. Unforunately, the tab does not show up on my machine so I am unable to check the box as suggested. I am using OS X 10.7.5. All help to restore mirroring would be much appreciated.

Problem solved. I zapped the PRAM once. Nothing happened. But repeated zapping - about fiur or five times - established the link.It also showed the Arrangement tab in Displays whoch apparently only appears when the link is established.

  • Mid-2009 Mac Book Pro Screen Starting to come off

    Hi.
I bought my MacBook Pro in July of 2009, and yesterday I realized that the screen "cover" was beginning to come loose at the top near the iSight camera. Is there a way for me to re-secure the screen so that things don't get worse?
Right now, there is no problem with viewing the screen itself. I guess that you could say that the black border surrounding the screen itself is beginning to come loose.
Anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions on how I could re-secure this part of the screen?
    Thanks.

    Yes: Don't!
Let Apple do it. This is why you have a warranty.

Yes. You need 2011 or later in order to mirror as it requires the newer processor. The alternative is airparrot, which does it via software.

The 2009's didn't support sound on HDMI. That came in 2010. Are you sure it ever worked?

  • 17-inch, Mid 2009 mac book pro freezes on startup

My MBP occasionally freezes on startup.
it is a 17-inch, Mid 2009 model details as follows
Processor  2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    Memory  4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Graphics  NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT 512 MB
    Software  Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2 (11C74)
The problem first occured before upgrading to Lion, but does seem to be getting progressively worse.
I start the mbp, get the login screen, enter login and password succefully, and get the opening screen appropriate for my login...
BUT am unable to select anything or perform any actions except using the on/off button to turn the mbp off, when its turned on it usually logs me in succesfully and then behaves as normal until the next login or the one after that ...
Anyone have any ideas what might cause this or if there are any known cures?
    Thanks

    Reinstalling Lion
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alterhatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You can also re-download the Lion installer by opening the App Store application. Hold down the OPTION key and click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar. You should now see an active Install button to the right of your Lion purchase entry. There are situations in which this will not work. For example, if you are already booted into the Lion you originally purchased with your Apple ID or if an instance of the Lion installer is located anywhere on your computer.

  • Installing Windows 7 on my bootcamp partition (mid-2009 mac book pro with mountain lion) My computer won't boot from the Windows 7 Install DVD.

    Hello,
I have been trying to install Windows 7 on my macbook pro (mid 2009, MBP53). I have successfully created a bootcamp partition using the assistant. When the computer tries to boot from the windows 7 install dvd, the screen is just black. The dvd spins for a bit, then stops and the computer is just black (no blinking cursor).
Any advice would be very appreciated.
    Thanks.

What kind of an install DVD are you using for Windows?
You can use any DVDs that are hardware specific. Only the full non-hardware soecific DVDs work on the Mac.

  • Cannot get disc out of disc drive - Mac Book Pro - not showing the disc on finder and eject button is not working

I inserted a disc into the disc drive but it did not start up.  It is not showing in Finder.  When I press the eject key nothing happens.  Can someone tell me how to get the disc out of the disc drive?

i have a mid 2007 mac book pro and i cant get mac osx mountain lion
please get back to me and it says on the apple website i would be able to get it

I would make sure it's deffinetely a mid 2007, and that's not just when you purchased it. Also you need at least 2GB of RAM and an intel core 2 duo processor with 8GB of HD space.

  • I have a 2009 mac book pro.  CDs will not load in OSX - however it will load CDs in Win 7 via bootcamp.  Same with any CD or DVD.  Any ideas on what is wrong?

I have a 2009 mac book pro running 10.6.8.  I also use win 7 via boot camp.  I can load CDs and DVDs fine, when booted onto win 7 but cannot get the same dvds or cds loaded when running OSX.  So, I'm having to reboot to win 7, every time I want to import a CD into my itunes library - I load the disc in win 7, then reboot back to osx in order to import the CD into my itunes library (which i have on my OSX side).  When running OSX, everytime I try to load any CD or DVD, the drive shoots the disc right out.  Any ideas?  Thanks in advance.

  • HT201335 Is there an  app that I can use with apple TV to mirror my older Mac Book Pro ?

Is there an  app that I can use with apple TV to mirror my older Mac Book Pro mid 2009? If not is there a software patch that will allow me to mirror ?

In my own opinion it didn't work well enough and I don't use it, I have fairly high standards when it comes to stuff like this. But from what I can gather it seems like it's the best of the rest! many here have said they like it.
There used to be a trial period, but I couldn't say whether that's still available.

  • My 2009 mac book pro is full

My 2009 mac book pro is full and i think it is because of the videos and pictures i have. I also have a 1TB airport wireless router that the "time machine" runs on. is there any way i can copy over older videos and pictures from my computer to the router so i free up memory on my computer? Also, what's the best way to delete videos and pictures from imovie and iphoto - through finder or through the application itself. I thought this would have been easier but it's not.

    Here's freeing up disk space.

  • What OSX should I use on my 2009 MAC Book Pro? Will Yosemite run

Hi I have a Mac Book Pro from 2009 and I was wondering what OSX should I use on my 2009 MAC Book Pro? Will Yosemite run properly on this computer?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Your Mac supports OS X Yosemite. If you need to upgrade your Mac, do it, but if you are happy with the OS X version you are running or you do not like changes (OS X Yosemite has got an interface change), you can keep it always that it is not very old.
In order to upgrade to OS X Yosemite, it is as simple as opening the Mac App Store and downloading OS X Yosemite. When the download finishes, the installer will show up, so follow its steps. Before upgrading, it is important to make a backup of your files with Time Machine -> Mac Basics: Time Machine backs up your Mac - Apple Support You can also check that your applications are compatible with Yosemite in this website -> http://www.roaringapps.com
OS X Yosemite should run properly, but I recommend you to run it with at least 4 GB of RAM (you can check how much RAM you have in the Apple menu -> About this Mac). In case Yosemite runs slowly, the backup you made will let you go back to your old version.
