Cannot get updates

I cannot get updates:
The system recognises I need updates then says:
The update cannot be saved
A network error has occured. Check your internet connection and try again.
I don't think there is anything wrong with my connection, and I always get the same.
any ideas?

Here are some general tips to keep your Mac's hard drive trim and slim as possible
You should never, EVER let a conputer hard drive get completely full, EVER!
With Macs and OS X, you shouldn't let the hard drive get below 15 GBs or less of free data space.
If it does, it's time for some hard drive housecleaning.
Follow some of my tips for cleaning out, deleting and archiving data from your Mac's internal hard drive.
Have you emptied your Mac's Trash icon in the Dock?
If you use iPhoto, iPhoto has its own trash that needs to be emptied, also.
If you store images in other locations other than iPhoto, then you will have to weed through these to determine what to archive and what to delete.
If you use Apple Mail app, Apple Mail also has its own trash area that needs to be emptied, too!
Delete any old or no longer needed emails and/or archive to disc, flash drives or external hard drive, older emails you want to save.
Look through your other Mailboxes and other Mail categories to see If there is other mail you can archive and/or delete.
STAY AWAY FROM DELETING ANY FILES FROM OS X SYSTEM FOLDER!
Look through your Documents folder and delete any type of old useless type files like "Read Me" type files.
Again, archive to disc, flash drives, ext. hard drives or delete any old documents you no longer use or immediately need.
Look in your Applications folder, if you have applications you haven't used in a long time, if the app doesn't have a dedicated uninstaller, then you can simply drag it into the OS X Trash icon. IF the application has an uninstaller app, then use it to completely delete the app from your Mac.
To find other large files, download an app called Omni Disk Sweeper.
Download an app called OnyX for your version of OS X.
When you install and launch it, let it do its initial automatic tests, then go to the cleaning and maintenance tabs and run the maintenance tabs that let OnyX clean out all web browser cache files, web browser histories, system cache files, delete old error log files.
Typically, iTunes and iPhoto libraries are the biggest users of HD space.
move these files/data off of your internal drive to the external hard drive and deleted off of the internal hard drive.
If you have any other large folders of personal data or projects, these should be archived or moved, also, to the optical discs, flash drives or external hard drive and then either archived to disc and/or deleted off your internal hard drive.

Try tapping on the id in Settings > iTunes & App Stores on your devices (Settings > Store if they aren't on iOS 6+) and then log back in and see if that 'refreshes' the account on them.

Cannot get updates via OTA

Got he TB in May. It was a replacement of my original one within 14 days as the bottom panel was popping out in my first phone. The VZW rep at the store when he activated the phone accidentally started a FW upgrade and cancelled it by pulling the battery. I have no issues with the phone except, it doesn't do anything when I check for new updates. I am still on the factory original FW. Never got the June update, the July fix for the rebooting issue of the June update and never got the Sept. Gingerbread update. Now that the fixed GB is rolling out, I have been trying to pull the update by checking the update. I get the small window saying checking for updates and then the window just vanishes in 5 or so seconds. I checked out my friends' TBs and they all roll a OTA message on the top bar and then come back and say there are no updates but my phone never goes in OTA mode so I am not sure if its even checking for updates.
I have spent more than 2 hours on separate days with VZW tech support and they keep telling me that its a HTC issue and HTC is responsible for the roll outs and even though my phone doesn't go in OTA mode, I should be getting the push. I did tell 'em that I didn't get any other pushes so why would I get it now since its not going in OTA mode at all.
I even called HTC. As expected, they're saying that VZW owns the rollout and they're responsible for the devices getting or not getting updates.
VZW tech support has a fix. Swap the handset for another which I know is going to be refurb. I don't want my handset changed.
Any ideas or more information on how to go about getting this fixed?
Should I just flash the unmodified RUU and be done with it? Should I flash an earlier RUU and see if my phone starts working with OTA or what? I would be happy to accept a replacement handset if its brand new as I feel that this is not my fault and the device is not abused or broken. I only use it as a phone and to check email and FB. I have no apps installed and no games installed either.
Any one have any advice for me?
I have tried the factory reset with the first tech. Tried the "check-in" method and no dice. I have tried forcing the phone into 1X mode and still no dice.
Anyone who has more technical insight care to chime in?

Yes. Tried in 4GLTE mode, 3G mode and even 1X mode as some site indicate success only in 1X. No dice for me. Just stopped by a VZW store as well as it was across the street from a Kohls I went to. They say I have to deal with Tech Support and that they cannot do anything for me. Seems they're all too happy to order me someone else's used {word filter avoidance} instead of looking what's wrong on what I already have.

Single client cannot get updated virus defs after client install

I have a single Windows XP workstation that cannot get it's new virus defs after the install of the FEP 2010 client. I have uninstalled and reinstalled with the same error.
Have attempted to stop and restart FEP and Automatic updates with no luck.

This is old post and there have been several changes in FEP, now the successor of FEP is System Center Endpoint Protection (SCEP) and several things been improved. Try reproduce your issue in SCEP and if problem persist, please post it as a new question.

In windows 8 and cs6 I cannot get updates

I have windows 8 and then loaded cs6. I go to get updates in photoshop and it will not connect. Any suggestions?

Bugs on Update Retriever 2.14 - Cannot get update information correctly

After clean install update retriever 2.14 (updateretriever214-2008-5-13.exe) in clear install Thinkpad R51,
In get new update, after select machine type, operating system, language,
and get search for updates for 1st time and successfully download updates.
Then the update retriever cannot detect/search updates any more.
Ex:
I have following Thinkpads in my environment, after clean install update retriever 2.14 and search
7673 for Vista/English, after select the updates and downloaded, when I re-select another type/OS/language,
like: 8919/7743 for Vista/English, the update retriever alway responses as "no new updates were found for the systems your specified."
It has big bug/mistake in update reteriever backend repository database,

and for 8919, there is Nvidia Quadro NVS/FX video controller,

I had similar issues and decided to go back to 2.13, and problems gone. I can now update my systems again!

Boy was I getting worried. Lenovo can someone please fix that little problem. See my post in system update as well for more details on my actual issue.

Can someone tell me how to get the Apple ID for app updates to match new changed Apple ID?
I can get new apps with new ID but not updates....old ID shows up and will not accept password.

No I gave you a link to try to get a new password to work with the old Apple ID.
And are you saying that I will not be able to access any updates for apps that were acquired under the original Apple ID and password?
I am saying that the only way to update apps acquired with the old Apple ID is with the old Apple ID. You cannot update them with a new Apple ID.

Cannot get updates to install

I re-installed my computer to factory, upgraded to Win 8 Pro. Trying to upgrade to Win 8.1, updates are not taking. I have tried 3 x, at the boot get a message that the updates were being reverted. Took forever, tried again, same. Try to
install Win 8.1 from store, told I have to update. I have done this re-install several times with the same computer and disks, never a problem. Tried also in control panel to troubleshoot updates, was told they were fixed, had same problems. Any help
greatly appreciated.

If my understanding is right, you can’t upgrade to Windows 8.1 from Windows 8 even after reinstalling.
Do you mean reinstall the computer to factory?
Could you use Windows 8.1 before?

Cannot get update to download

All attempts to upload latest version of Flash Player failed. Tried all of the support suggestions. Failed. Even removed the Old Version as they suggested. Now I have nothing and still cannot download the update. It always hangs up at Step 2.

Cannot get updates for books in iBooks

On my iPad mini I open the iBooks app (4.2) and there's a red number at the bottom in the Puchased section. I think this means there are updates to some of the books. I click on the number, get a blank screen that at first says loading then nothing but the white screen. Have checked my books on iTunes on my laptop and it indicates the books are updated but I keep getting a number on the iPad. Have tried shutting down the iPad and nothing has made any difference. Is there any way to get the updates of get rid of the number?

Have you tried updating them through iTunes on your computer, or, updating the books in iBooks on your computer (if using Mavericks).

Cannot get update 2.1 to install!!??

I've tried at least 8 times and every time I try to download the update, I get a message saying that my network connection has timed out. I even tried turning off the firewall and the same thing happened! Please-my phone is so slow I'd really like to try the update to see if it helps!

Good, I strongly recommend you do it via iTunes rather than over-the-air. Major iOS version upgrades, like going from iOS 7.x to 8.x, are in my experience more reliable when done via iTunes. It takes longer but the odds are much better that you'll end up with an iPad 2 that works, and with acceptable performance, than if you do the upgrade over-the-air. Minor version updates, like 8.1 to 8.1.1 or 8.1.2 are usually fine OTA, but major version updates seem to work better with the full wipe and install that iTunes performs.

Cannot Get Updates from App Store Error -1012

Out of nowhere I suddenly got this error message "NSURLErrorDomain error -1012" on my iMac and MacBook Air this morning when checking for updates on Mac App store, last mavericks update was 22nd May, everything was fine a few days ago.
Anyone else had this, signing in and out of app store makes no difference or a restart. Help please.

Quit the App Store if it's open.
Now open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy/paste: ~/Library/Cookies
Click Go then move the com.apple.appstore.cookies and com.apple.appstore.plist files from the Cookies folder to the Trash.
Type or copy/paste: ~/Library/Preferences
Click Go then move the com.apple.appstore.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Trash.
Try the App Store.
