Cannot go back & forth between macbook & iPad

cannot switch from using macbook to ipad (& vice versa) without getting an Earthlink message saying "the internet connection is currently in use by another computer ( 172.16.1.16 ). I then have to enter PW and hit 'release connection' to switch the internet connection to the device I want to use. This just began last week when I reset Time Capsule (back to factory settings after trying reboot) because it was not able to complete a back up. Contacted Earthlink says it's the router settings. Any suggestions?

Leave it off over night so before you go to bed shut off the main modem the ISP gives you.. change the TC back to router mode.. then turn it off.. in the morning.. start up the ISP modem.. wait a couple of min.. start up the TC.. if it fails to pick up the address, do a full factory reset.. it has to pick up the IP offered by the ISP.. and then NAT that to your clients.. otherwise get a better router.. TC are just poor in these setups. They need cable or adsl.. and have almost no controls for unusual environments.. then bridge the TC so it can be dumb hard disk.. what it does best.

Don't spend a lot of time trying to change it. It's an iCloud problem that's happened before, and when it happened in August it went back to the correct colors in a few days. Just be careful when you add new items to the calendar to use the right calendar (even if the color is wrong), otherwise you'll have things out of synch when the correct colors come back.

perfect. ok do the following:
settings > mail, contacts, calendars > go into the exchange account. You should have an email in the account field...[email protected] or [email protected], etc.... I am assuming you don't remember the password to this exchange account so once you know the email, you can go to email providers site and click on forgot password and you will go through the steps to get a new password. Once you do this, you will need to go back into your "exchange account " and the field that has the exchange email > touch the > to open settings. Change the password to your new password you got from above. Once you do this, you can add the exchange account to your ipad and all of your contacts will sync to both devices.
Please confirm.

Can you move files back and forth between an iPad and a PC using iTunes?

If I read this article correctly, http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4094 I should be able to connect my iPad to my PC, fire up iTunes and then on the Apps tab in iTunes I should be able to click on an app, Pages for example and then just drag files onto the Pages Documents column from a Windows Explorer window.
This is great. I was hoping to use DropBox but it is such a hassle I don't know why people are so thrilled with DropBox on iPad. If I can just move files back and forth using iTunes that should be fairly easy. I wish there was a way to just upload my files to iCloud from my PC but the iCloud control panel app for Windows only seems to connect Outlook, Photostream and Bookmarks. I want to be able to just carry my iPad and not have to deal with a computer.
I thought that they said that you didn't need to have a computer to have an iPad. I guess if you have a computer and then GET an iPad its a different story, unless you have a Mac of course.
Anyway my question is: can you move files back and forth between a PC and an iPad using just iTunes?

I still need to do some trial and error testing with DropBox and my iPad. But can I link my iPad to my DropBox account so that I can always see the files on DropBox when I open Pages on my iPad? I just want one place to store my documents, and iCloud doesn't seem to be up to the task when it comes to opening a fil;e, editing it and then saving it back to iCloud. I just want a networked storage location that works like a networked drive on my LAN.
I realize that hollywood and the music industry are up in arms about file sharing on the Cloud which is why so many things are made more difficult than they need to be.

After my upgrade to Mountain Lion, I can't sync my notes / reminders between my Macbook Pro, iPhone and iPad. I am not incline to use icloud to sync these information. I do not seems to be able to find a square to tick in my itunes for syncing my iPhone and iPad. Now all my notes & reminders are in a mess. Please help.

Same here. iCloud signon is identical on iPad, iPhone and mac. iCloud is default account, yet I cant see several of my notes on mac. On mac, some of the notes appear under "all notes", but under the specific account for icloud, it just tries updatimg and then nothing happens. It worked much much better under Lion.

TS1368 i updated and syned my ipads yesterday, now I cannot access itunes on either ipad. i tried signing out of my apple id on both, and now I cannot sign back in on either ipad

I have internet connection, and I can access itunes on my computer. in settings - itunes and app store - I signed out of my apple id and tried to sign in again. my Ipad2 says "cannot connect to itunes store" and the ok button. my ipad just sits after I enter my apple id and password and nothing happens.

Since downloading itunes 11.03 I cannot get back movies on my ipad or music and i have no clue how it works anymore after many years of enjoying it, I now have no clue and I'm about as angry as anyone could be. What has happened !!

I copied this from an extremely knowledgable iTunes for Windows user in another discussion. Maybe this will help.
In Windows, you can restore much of the look & feel of iTunes 10.7 with these shortcuts:
ALT to temporarily display the menu bar
CTRL+B to show or hide the menu bar
CTRL+S to show or hide the sidebar
CTRL+/ to show or hide the status bar (won't hide for me on Win XP)
Click the magnifying glass top right and untick Search Entire Library to restore the old search behaviour
Use View > Hide <Media Kind> in the cloud or Edit (iTunes) > Preferences > Store anduntick Show iTunes in the cloud purchases to hide the cloud items. The second method eliminates the cloud status column (and may let iTunes start up more quickly)
If you don't like having different coloured background & text in the Album (Grid) view use Edit(iTunes) > Preferences > General and untick Use custom colours for open albums, movies, etc.
With iTunes 11.0.3 you can enable artwork in the Songs and playlist views from View > Show View Options (CTRL+J) making it more like the old Album List view.
If you are a Mac user, all you have to do is start navigating through the menu items at the top of the screen to find just about everything that is mentioned here.

Can i share my videos and/or music between macbook, iPad, iPhone, and apple tv?

currently the only thing i know how to do is play videos from my macbook iTunes onto my apple tv. id like to be able to watch/listen to this content on my iPad and iPhone also,without using airdrop....id like to share, not transfer, necessarily. id like to it play both purchased and files downloaded from other sources. are there some settings to be able to accomplish this or maybe a 3rd party app i could download? any advice would be appreciated. thank you.

If the music and videos are in your Mac's iTunes library then you should be able to use home sharing to access them in the Videos and Music apps on your iPad and/or iPhone.
If you have the same account enabled in home sharing on your Mac's iTunes (File > Home Sharing menu option) and on your iPad or iPhone (Settings > Music >Home Sharing or Settings > Videos > Home Sharing), they are connected to the same wifi network, and iTunes on your Mac is open, then you should get a Shared option in the Music and Videos apps on the device (top right of the Videos app ; possibly via the More button bottom right of the Music app)

Impossible, there are zero, as in none, zip, nadda viruses for OS X. If you have viruses on it they are for MS Windows and will not affect OS X. I suspect the hard disk has crashed, if you have backup then it's not a big deal to have it changed, just take it into your local Apple Store or AASP for service. If you have not been backing it up you may be in for a painful lesson on why backup is critical.

Switching back&forth between Dialup and Cable Modem (Leopard)

Hey folks...I have a client who is using an iMac with Leopard (20inch titanium model from this year, 2gig coreDuo). She has cable modem, but cable service is very new to her area and thus never very reliable. For this reason, she's always had her Network preferences set up properly for both wireless and dialup. When her cable service drops out, she simply switches to dialup for a little while. The airport icon, top right of screen, can be clicked on to immediate access and choose between either of those configs. This always worked fine with Tiger, I set it up with her myself and it went swimmingly. Now that we've upgraded her to Leopard, her configs are still set up correctly, everything interfaces the same way, etc...however when she switches to the dialup method, it never connects. Nothing about the cable or dialup service has changed, and we only OSd in-place, so as i said configs and all relative information is exaclty the same. What do you think we need to correct or change? I am developing a adobe interactive form (webdynpro ABAP) with 4 sections/blocks to represent each sub form. I have 4 sub forms, say my_sub_form_1..... my_sub_form_2.......... my_sub_form_3........ my_sub_form_4, say, here user is family_head
My requirement is; I need to put a BUTTON_1 (button caption is "GO_TO_my_sub_form_4" its for adding family members) on the my_sub_form_2 (it represents Family_head_details), when user clicks this button, then i the user (cursor) has to go to my_sub_form_4 so that user will enter some data there.
In the same way, I need to put a BUTTON_2 (button caption is "GO_BACK_TO_my_sub_form_2") on the my_sub_form_4(it represents Family_member_details), when user clicks this button, then i the user (cursor) has to go to my_sub_form_2 back.
So, say, there are 4 family members in the family, so, user will click the BUTTON_1..... 4 times and adds 4 people details each time, finally, submits the form.
Pls. let me know in Java Script,
1) How can i take the user/cursor from 2nd section to 4th section on clicking of the button_1?
2) How can i get back to the original section/sub form (section_2)?
3) Do i need to create the INSTANCES each time for the section_4 (family_member_section)?
4) How can i manage the adding each time data of a family member, here its 4 members?
5) Say, after adding the 1st member, pls. let me kmow where the 1st member data will be stored? then 2nd member? like so....

I recently bought a new MacBookPro because I needed a more powerful machine to handle my audio mixes in Logic 9.
My previous MacBookPro (from 2006) is still a good machine...I'd like to keep using it for Photos, I-tunes, etc., but there are some functions that I'd like to share between machines.
Is there a way to synch the 2 machines? I'm using external hard drives for my i-Tunes files & video files, can these by synched between both machines?
What is the best way to work with both machines, doing some applications on one and others on the other machine, but sharing the i-Tunes library?
If there are any links on the Apple website that address these issues, I'd appreciate anyone sharing them with me.

This is a complex question.
You can use MobileMe to sync data, bookmarks, etc. Depending upon the amount of stuff you're syncing, and the amount of space you're willing to purchase on MobileMe, you can do a lot.
The problem with moving the iTunes external drive between computers is that if one Mac makes changes to the library, the other Mac needs to redo the library to recognize those changes. This could be time consuming.
I think you should keep your iTunes with your main computer, but set it up for home sharing (iTunes Preferences>Sharing>Share my Library on my local network). Then your older Mac can play music.
I think this will do what you want.

The first screen shot is the left (main) screen after I moved CS6 to the right screen (second screen shot). As you can see the CS6 panels are in front of MS Word. If I click in the Word document they go behind Word. If I switch over to on the right screen the panels reappear but in front of Word again. So I either have to switch back and forth between the two screens if I want to work in CS6 or manually movee the panels over to the Right Screen. It is rather awkward to have to do that. Make sense?
