Cannot hear me unless I have earphones in.

No one can hear me unless I have my earphones in.  Anyone else have this issue? Any help would be appreciated.

From everything i have seen and read its most likely a hardware problem. Take it to an apple genius bar at apple store.

  • TS1630 i cant hear music unless i have earphones in.  when i unplug them i cant hear from iphone 4 speakers

it seems as if my iphone is detecting earphones when they are not plugged in.  I could only hear music with earphones due to this problem.

You probably have debris in the earphone jack blocking the sensor.  Try blowing hard on it, and quickly inserting/removing your earphone multiple times to dislodge it.

  • I have unlock iPhone&my mic broken,Siri nor when people call can hear me unless I have earphones or during the call they have to be speaker . I bought it on Craigslist , so would apple fix it or does anyone know a place I can take it in ?

It also don't have the app for FaceTime ? Why is that

Basic troubleshooting steps clearly outlined in the User Guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new device.
If you have been through ALL of the troubleshooting steps and you're still having problems, then you'll need to bring your phone to Apple for investigation.

  • Cannot hear music without speakers or earphones.

I received a replacement Ipod Touch 2nd generation, and i cannot hear music unless i use earphones or speakers. What can i do to get it to work?

Are you sure that it is 2nd generation? (it would have an external volume control, and the tapered edges on the body).  The 1st generation has no external volume control button, no speaker, and squared-off edges.
If it really is 2nd generation and you can't hear the external speaker, of course make sure that the volume is turned up.  If you still can't hear anything, then Reset the iPod (press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons until you see the Apple logo, then release).  If that doesn't work, then Restore the iPod using iTunes.

  • Callers cannot hear me, unless I use speaker feature, what might problem be?

Callers cannot hear me, unless I use the speaker feature. Mute is not turned on, so what might be the problem.
I had been using the phone normally and on the next call, the caller could not hear me reply.
Eventually I tried using the speaker function and then callers can hear me - but not using the normal functions.
Any suggestions as to what button I might have pushed inadvertently. The mute feature is not turned on.

    New iPhone 4
    Have already done full resets

    Hello Lorilynn63,
It sounds like you have already restored the device as new and the issue persists. If thats the case, then I would say that you have ruled out software as a possible culprit, and would reset the device with this process:
    Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
From: iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting

If the issue persists then I would take a look at the Service Answer Center - iPhone found here http://support.apple.com/kb/index?page=servicefaq&geo=United_States&product=ipho ne.
    Take care,
    Sterling

  • I cannot hear callers unless using speakerphone. the phone is not on mute, the problem has started for no apparent reason and rebooting has not resolved the problem. Any ideas?

My iphone 4 (Model MD128B/A) running iOS 7.1.2 has developed a problem when receiving calls, for no apparent reason. The caller can hear me, but unless I switch to speakerphone, I cannot hear them. The mute button still functions normally. I have rebooted the phone but this has not resolved the issue. Any ideas about how to resolve this problem? Thanks.

    Hello manleyjohn,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you are unable to hear callers though the receiver on your iPhone 4 unless you change the sound to the speaker. In this situation, I would recommend reading over the attached article and verifying that the troubleshooting steps have been completed. If the issue continues, it may be necessary to follow the link towards the bottom of the article and contact Apple Support.

  • Cannot Hear Ring Unless Headset In Ear?

    iPhone 4S & Jawbone Era
Cannot hear the phone ring unless headset in my ear. Missing important calls and texts. I can't keep headset on all day, and I can't pair it quickly enough when calls come in. This is silly I will have to only use headset for outgoing calls if isn't resolved or find other brand. :-(

this is a user forum so we can't really do anything
apart from that somebody may know a good work around but if you want to
get in touch with apple to let them know your opinion

  • TS4185 I am having microphone trouble on face time.  Others cannot hear me.  I have checked system preferences and everything looks ok. Mic symbol has a line through it but nothing happens when I try to click on it.  Internal mic is selected.

I am having microphone trouble on my Mac Book Pro during face time.  Others cannot hear me.  Microphone symbol has a line through it but will not allow me to change from muted to unmuted.  "Mute" under Video tab is greyed out and internal microphone is selected.  System Preferences show that internal microphone is working.  I have tried to restart computer, no difference.  Does anyone have a suggestion?

When you have kernel panics, the pertinent information is in the panic report.
These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
    In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ System Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of reports. A panic report has a name that begins with "Kernel" and ends in ".panic". Select the most recent one. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a panic, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.

  • My iphone 3 speaker will not play, it is not in airplane mode,. I have rebooted it. I cannot make a call or recieve one because I cannot hear anyone unless they are on speaker, it says my ipod is stuck in headphones mode for the volume,..it isnt the headp

Please help me, and tell me if this is a hardware issue and I am required to take my phone in to the store to get a new one?

Oh wow, I forgot how narrow minded people can be. No its not the jailbreak causing it. The problem existed well before the jailbreak, and there are many other people with unjailbroken phones with the exact same audio problem. But. i removed the jailbreak,  just for.you. guess what... It's.still doing it. Now would someone be willing to help me out?  And  don't bother to.suggest restoring it . Been there done that, didn't do anything except waste my time.

  • "Phone" does not work, and I cannot send texts unless I have 3G on

    iPhone 3GS, iOS 4
Anyone know why this is? I currently have a five bars of reception, can send/receive texts, and make calls. If I turn 3G OFF, I get 0 bars of reception. I cannot make calls, and if I try to send a text, it says message failed. The only way to fix this is to turn on 3G, and then reboot. If I just turn 3G back on (without rebooting).. the situation remains the same
Any idea how to fix this? Network = 02 UK
    thanks

  • IPhone 4S: In phone conversations, other person cannot hear me unless I'm on speaker

Anytime I call someone I have to switch to speaker so that the person can hear me.  The odd thing is that Siri works fine - when I put Siri up to my ear or when I enable it just by holding the home button.  Recording voicemail greeting works, too.  And, by the way, it worked the first day I had it.  The second day it stopped working.  I'm trying to think what I did between first and second day but other than connecting to computer, there was nothing of note.
    Thanks,
    Karim

After an hour on hold, I got through to a tech that told me it's a hardware problem and I'd have to take my iPhone to the Apple Store to be replaced or send it in and be without it for a week. The nearest Apple Store is 3 hours away, and I can't really be without a phone so I asked him if there was any sort of advance replacement.
Turns out it costs $29, which is probably how much gas I'd have spent to drive to have it tooked at. Long story short... I have a replacement coming in in the next couple days.

  • All my sounds on my 3GS stopped working unless I have earphones plugged in, help!

Will I have to replace the speakers and if so can i do it myself because its only a couple buck and having someone else do it is seriously price for a phone that will be handed down to a pre-teen. thanks

Try inserting and removing the the earphones several times in a row. The mechanism indicating the earphones are inserted may be stuck in place and not retracted.
The iPhone includes a single speaker.

  • I cannot turn the volume up high enough on my iPhone 5 to hear.  Also, when speaking to someone else, they cannot hear me unless I reposition the phone to speak directly into it.

I was speaking to someone on another iPhone in a quiet office and we could not hear each other.  Is this being caused by the new ANR technology?  Is all the advertisement on TV intended to get in front of this problem?  It seems that Apple has focused on all of this gee wiz stuff, and they forgot what phones are supposed to do.  If I don't get a fix, I'm going back to android.

    Hi Friend,
Be sure you did not turn no Restrictions before (Settings>>General>>Restrictions)
Not to be a jerk, but did you make sure there is nothing covering the phone speaker? If you leave the protective cover over the phone speaker you won't be able to hear much at all.
If the problem persists, rebooth your device (press and hold home and sleep button simultaneally Unitol turn off and appears the Apple Logo.
    Hope it helps
