can anyone help? i have not dropped it or anything. took out battery and sim card, software is upgraded. still no dice

Clear the receiver
The iPhone receiver won't work properly if it's blocked or dirty. Here's where the receiver is:
Follow these steps, testing after each:
- Make sure nothing is blocking the receiver, such as a case or film.
If you have a new iPhone, remove the plastic film on the front and back of the device.
- Check the receiver opening to see if it's blocked or dirty. If necessary, clean the receiver opening with a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush.
- While you're on a call, turn on speakerphone. If you still can't hear, then your network or reception could be the issue. Try calling again later or from a different location.
Restart and update
1. Restart your iPhone and test again.
2. If there's still no sound or poor sound quality, update to the latest version of iOS.

You're not using a supported carrier. What did you think Apple was going to tell you?
As fizzDripper suggests, contact the SIM card provider. How to make an unsupported SIM work on your phone is not Apple's problem.

I cannot hear telephone calls unless speaker is on

I just replaced the glass on my iphone as it had smashed but as soon as I got the phone back I was not able to hear telephone calls (incoming or outgoing) unless I put the speaker on....and the volume is still pretty low even though the volume settings are high. May be a coincidence but Ive never had that problem before.

I am having the exact same problem starting today. I took your advice about inserting the headphone jack and the thing about the speakers, no luck. I reset all the settings, turned it off/on, still doesn't work. If I plug the accessory jack into it, I can hear through my car's speakers, but I can't hear anything from the phone unless it's turned on speakerphone. Frustrating!
Any other advice from anyone?

just had my iphone yesterday and when making or receiving calls, unable to hear any voices unless put it on speaker.
it this a norm of the phone? had tried on all avenues on the phone to rectify, but unable to find any solution.

Device, driver loaded properly. Can hear through device 'phone input. Cannot hear through Logic Pro.

I successfully loaded the driver to my brand-new Steinberg UR22 interface. The device shows up in Preferences > Audio as the input and output. I can hear a signal through headphones plugged into the headphone jack on the Steinberg.
I cannot hear anything in Logic Pro, however. I've created a track, but cannot get my guitar to generate any movement on the LED fader on the lower left, or change rigs using the guitar amps/effects library on the right.
What am I doing wrong?

You've created an Audio Track, correct?
Have you set the audio track to the correct input?
The UR22's second (#2) input should be used with the Hi-Z switch enabled.
Input gain at 1/2 also make sure the Master Output is up.
You have a monitoring knob labeled Input/DAW
If you wish to monitor both set the know to the halfway point, balance from that point.
By Master Output I was referring to the Output level on the UR22

People cannot hear me properly, problem with speaker?

I think there is a problem with my phone when I talk to people, they say I sound like I am far away I have to shout, or cup my hand to the bottom of the phone in order for someone to hear me.
I have done, i have restarted my phone, removed the battery, checked the settings. Still people cannot hear me. It has only been seven months, I never had a problem with my old BB Bold.

First, make sure your mic isn't full of pocket lint. It's right below the "k" in BlackBerry on the front of the device.
Then go to the Help app. At the bottom go to Testing. You can do different diagnostic tests in there and one of them is the mic. Does the test pass for the mic?

Not hearing music/sound in the speaker with the Adobe tutorial pack, hotel tycoon, angry birds and some others.
Is the an on-off in general controls I am not seeing?

Aha! So by "hardware error" do you think they are saying it's the way the iPad is built, as opposed to a fix-able software or firmware issue?
Here is the weird thing. Last night (after I had pretty much gotten over it), I popped on the tutorial and the speaker worked! Same with Angry Birds Rio, but not Angry Birds HD. Oh, well. By that late at night I had to go back to ear buds anyway, so as not to wake anybody up.
Might have been the reset I performed yesterday. I was not really in full diagnostic mode when trying to fix the issue, so I kind of muddied the results. Sounds like it is something Apple is aware of at any rate, if phone support knows about it.

TS1630 can't hear through receiver but can hear clearly on speaker phone

just bought the iphone 5 two weeks ago and all of a sudden i cannot hear through the receiver or hear the ring, but I can hear perfectly on speaker. I took it to Apple and it seemed they fixed it but now it has done again. Very frustrating because when i need to make calls i have to put it on speaker phone. Any suggetions is greatly appreciated. I have an appt. with apple again on saturday but i think i need a replacement.

Cannot hear the phone ring unless headset in my ear. Missing important calls and texts. I can't keep headset on all day, and I can't pair it quickly enough when calls come in. This is silly I will have to only use headset for outgoing calls if isn't resolved or find other brand. :-(

when i make calls to people i cannot hear them on my upper speaker. i usally have to put it on speaker phone or connect my headphones. does anyone know what ribbon cable connects the speaker? any other suggestions anyone may have? i deffinitley made sure its not in headphone mode. i would be very grateful for an anwser
