Cannot Hear When Placing A Call

For the past two hours whenever I place a call I cannot hear anything unless I am on speaker. I tryed to restore the phone but it did not help. Is there anything else I can do?

Odds are you recently had headphones in it. When you took them out, it failed to pick up on that fact....so all sounds are being sent to the jack (where there are no headphones). Plug in and out your headphones a few times. When out, try to play music. If you hear it, then it fixed itself. If it didn't, repeat.

  • Cannot hear when placing or receiving a call.

When I place or receive a call I do not hear anything. When I put it on Speaker mode it works fine. Can anyone help me figure out what is wrong please?

Try resetting your iphone by pressing and holding both your home and power button for about 10 to 15 secs till the apple logo appears :)

  • Called party cannot hear when iPhone 4 in speaker mode.  cleaned earbud socket but think have sw problem. How do I reload os.

Called party cannot hear when iphone 4 in speaker mode.  Have cleaned earbud contact but think this is sw problem and would like to reload os 5.1.1.  Not sure how to do this as all attempts result in "software is up to date" message.

ATA bus error means that data corruption occurred during transmission over ATA bus (SATA or PATA). This type of errors can be indicated by
ICRC or ABRT error as described in the section called “ATA/ATAPI device error (non-NCQ / non-CHECK CONDITION)”.
Controller-specific error completion with error information indicating transmission error.
On some controllers, command timeout. In this case, there may be a mechanism to determine that the timeout is due to transmission error.
Unknown/random errors, timeouts and all sorts of weirdities.
As described above, transmission errors can cause wide variety of symptoms ranging from device ICRC error to random device lockup, and, for many cases, there is no way to tell if an error condition is due to transmission error or not; therefore, it's necessary to employ some kind of heuristic when dealing with errors and timeouts. For example, encountering repetitive ABRT errors for known supported command is likely to indicate ATA bus error.
Once it's determined that ATA bus errors have possibly occurred, lowering ATA bus transmission speed is one of actions which may alleviate the problem.
I'd also add; make sure you have good backups when ATA errors are frequent

  • 3GS noise when placing a call (only GSM, not 3G)

    Hi,
when placing a call I get a strange noise and the person in the other end cannot hear me ok.
This is only when having a GSM coonection.
When using 3G it works ok, but 3G coverage is not everywhere...
    3Gs iOS 4.1
    regards, Tom

Sounds weird that it happened all of a sudden.
Maybe apple send hidden updates through the 3g network.
I have a brand new iphone 4s not even 2 days old and it has this issue.
I have to take to apple store tomorrow for them to replace.

  • I have a problem with my I phone usually have cannot hear clearly the person calling me,what should i do about it?

I have a problem with my I phone usually have cannot hear clearly the person calling me,what should i do about it?

Hi - it depends on how old your iPhone is. Is it fairly new or if its less than 28 days old you can bring it back to the store if bought through one of the common networks. I had an earpiece problem when I bought mine after just 10 days or so, I couldn't hear anyone through the earpiece and exchanged in store for Free.

cannot hear voices en phone call can only use headset

try to switch to loudspeaker mode. If both loudspeaker and normal mode doesn't work, then ur speaker would be damaged. Visit your nearest apple service center.

  • Speaker, cannot hear when making or recieving calls

I am furious! this is my 2nd replacement due to speaker phone problems even after restoring the phone to original settings. My orginal phone was replaced due to the sleep button not working, I got a replacement and from my first call there was a loud screeching noise, this happened on every call I made or recieved THEN I took the phone back to apple and it worked whilst in the shop, anyway to cut a long story short it happened again I then got it replaced today, I checked the phone in store making sure there were no issues with making calls, everything worked fine. I made my first call on way back to car and the sound completely goes, I cant hear anything but the other person can hear me fine. I went back the shop to be told to restore...have done that...still cannot hear??

I had this issue the second day I had my iPhone 6. I could hear them clearly but all they heard was dead air. I can't confirm it but I believe it had something to do with my Bluetooth not releasing even though it was turned off. The only way I was able to restore functionality was to restore the iPhone through iTunes. Once I did that there weren't any further problems and it's now been almost 4 weeks.

  • All I hear when I make calls is little bits of static (most of the time)

So this started happening about a month ago when I moved to NJ (though I upgraded from iOS 5.1.1 to 7 at the same time - so I don't know if that's connected to this issue).  I place a call and the timer starts going, but I can't hear anything except a little bit of intermittent static every now and then.  Maybe the static is when the person says hello - I don't know.  It's indiscernible as speech and is very soft.
Placing calls works sometimes, but I just tried about 4 or 5 times this morning to place calls to 2 different numbers (including Sprint's '*2' service number) and I let each call go for at least 20 seconds before giving up.  I never even hear the ring.  I've gotten so used to it not working, I stopped waiting for a minute before giving up.  Sometimes calling out works... and I suspect that there may be a pattern to it.  My current theory is that placing calls starts to work each morning AFTER I've received a call.  Receiving calls has always worked - never couldn't hear anyone when they've called me.
I have tried turning the phone off and back on - no luck.  I reprogrammed the phone via the help of a Sprint representative - no luck.  After reprogramming the phone, they had me call an 888 number, and that worked - I could hear it ring, but when I tried calling the guy I'd been trying to reach this morning on his land line - no luck.  It then worked when I tried calling my parents' landline (which is the number I'm calling when I usually experience this problem).  Then I received a call back from my parents about my hang-up, and then I tried the same guy again, and this time it worked.
What the heck is going on?  Is it my phone?  Is it the towers?  Is it Sprint?  What's causing all these calls where I can't hear anything?  I have not asked if the people I've called could hear me when the problem is occurring.
    Thanks,
    Rob

    I fixed it.
    Thanks

  • Receiver cannot hear me in a call

Since I have updated to iOS 6.0.1 on the iPhone 4 the receiver cannot hear me when I make a call. I bought the phone second hand 4 months ago and has worked fine until now. What is happening? Is this a problem with the software. I have soft reset, hard reset and restored the phone with the problem remaining. I am not able to call support for obvious reasons and I cannot go to an apple store as I am away with work. Anything anyone can suggests?

Try to toggle "mute" button. It may help.

  • IPhone 4 upgrade to iOS 7.1, cannot hear voice during phone call

I recently updated to 7.1 and suddenly I cannot hear voice during the phone call. I can still hear voice using earphone. Has anyone experiencing the same thing? Need help. Thanks.

I have the same problem with my iphone4 32g.
After my phone was updated to ios7, people cannot hear my voice in a telephone conversation (regardless of who makes the call); however, they can hear my voice perfectly in a facetime or skype session.
I managed to record my voice using the iphone so the problem may not have to do with the phone's hardware (mic or debris in the earphone jack). I highly suspect it is due to ios7, but I cannot rollback to ios6 to prove my hypothesis.
I have performed factory reset but the problem still persists. So now I have a an iphone that can't be used to make a phone call, and this is frustrating.
I used to have high regards for the apple brand. Not anymore.
