Cannot hide virtual keyboard

Since yesterday I haven't been able to hide the virtual keyboard by quickly sliding the finger down across the virtual keyboard.  I can only hide it by pressing on the BB key and then choosing Hide Keyboard.
I am worried that something wrong could be happening to the phone and would like to know if there is some way to fix this before returning it to the store.
Thank you.

i was using 3.6 FF....now i am using 4.0beta 9.....i cannot find virtual keyboard logo on right side of bar....i am not able to find the virtual keyboard anywhere....is it in add-ons?????

The box asking about removing personal data is an option that would be selected during the uninstall process, it wouldn't appear during startup.

  • Ipad connecting with vmware view client v5.1. "any way to disable or hide radial virtual keyboard mouse interface as using blue tooth external keyboard"

Issue - ipad connecting with vmware view client v5.1. "any way to disable or hide the vmware view's radial virtual keyboard mouse interface" either in vmware view client settings, hidden cmds, or ipad system settings.
My client is using an external blue tooth ipad metal cover type keyboard and does not wish to have the radial keyboard / mouse visable or floating on desktop when connecting to vm with iPad using vmware view client v5.1.
i was unable to locate any settings or related toggle key/function combo keystrokes under iPad settings under vmware view client, to affect viewability of the radial keyboard/mouse. And can you kill it from service/process on vm instead of ipad? then dont allow service to restart at startup? What is the name of services that enable the radial virtual keyboard mouse - function to work?
Thanks for any and all feedback-

I'm having a very similar issue. Sometimes, when I boot and type in startx (I'm not even a GNOME user--I use dwm and no graphical login manager), I just get a black screen. No mouse cursor, so I think X doesn't even load. It only started with the xserver 1.6 update and the update to that hasn't changed anything. What I've been doing is just rebooting until it loads normally (takes one to three times). Is anyone else having this problem?

  • I cannot get the virtual keyboard to automatically work with Windows 8.1 Desktop

I have read a lot of the same complaints, but no one seems to have a good solution for getting the Windows virtual keyboard to auto respond to Mozilla.

What is your Firefox? What is the virtual keyboard you are trying to use?
Does the keyboard work with the other programs and Windows?
    Have you had other problems?

  • Virtual keyboard in wrong place

My keyboard keeps popping up in the top middle of the screen no matter which orientation I use, I have rebooted several times this does not help, close out all my apps and does not help, all apps experience this problem so lastly I just did a full restore and the sync from backup and it STILL does it, this must be a setting but I cannot find it. I have uploaded a picture to show the issue. Thank you so much for your help guys.

If you press and hold the hide keyboard button in the bottom right of the virtual keyboard you will get a pop up that says Dock or Split, press the dock option and the virtual keyboard will return to the bottom of the screen.

  • Virtual keyboard sticky in iOS8

After several years of using a Zagg bluetooth keyboard with my iPads (1 and now 3) very happily, IOS8 seems to have distubed things. In particular, the virtual keyboard comes up and cannot be dismissed with the key in the bottom right-hand corner; I have to activate the Zagg keyboard and provide an input after which the virtual keyboard disappears. This wouldn't be a problem except that the VK pops up any time the BT keyboard times out into idle, which is a very few minutes. I'm not sure what is different, but it is annoying to a pain (in a presentation, for example, I do not want the VK popping up just because I haven't input recentely enough to keep the BT keyboard from idling.) Any way of making the VK less sensitive, as it has through the previous 7 iOS systems?  Or at least of being able to make it disappear by operating it, instead of having to activite the BT keyboard to get it to disappear?

I ran into the same problem after moving up to iOS8 two days ago. This problem resurfaces whenever I swicthed off my Zagg keyboard. Please go to General, Keyboard then remove all other keyboard but the English one. Next go to Language to remove any other language but English. Afterwards you will see the message of Setting Language. After all things will go back to usual. Suffice to say, if you switch off your Zagg then soft keyboard pops up, you are now able to HIDE the soft keyboard. Hope this helps!
P.S. If you really need to add other language in addition to English, you can do so after resetting the Language on you iPad.

  • Controlling Virtual Keyboard icon visibility

    Hi everyone,
I'm writting an application for Windows Mobile 5.0, in Java. I'm using the CrEmE VM v4.12, which supports most SWING components. The VM also supplied a small set of methods to hide and display the keyboard. However, I cannot find any information on how to hide the virtual keyboard icon. It stays on top of my application.
Is there any known way to disable the icon in Java?
    Thanks!
    Dave

I am encountering this problem right now. So far, the only thing that works for me (and it sounds like you too) is to use
    AWT.keyboardHide();
    over and over again.
The problem with this approach, is that any time another editable field gains focus, you need to call this method again. My entire application now has focus listeners on all of the editable fields, and whenever they gain focus, I call that method which hides the icon.
I am developing a Swing application for the TDS Ranger, which has a hardware keyboard. There are also two other possibilities for disabling the keyboard entirely, but I have not successfully been able to get them to work yet:
    ZeNoKeyboard
    http://www.pdagold.com/software/detail.asp?s=155
    and
If you have a QWERTY keyboard based Windows Mobile pocket pc and the onboard virtual keyboard annoys you, heres how you can disable it permanently
Download a registry editor for the Pocket PC and navigate to:
HKEY_Current_User\ControlPanel\Sip\AllowChange and set the value to number 0 and soft reset the device
Anyone else attempt to tackle this problem?

  • How do I implement a virtual keyboard?  I will compensate for assistance.

I have created a simple Adobe Air Windowed Application.  The application uses the mx:HTML controls to load a web page inside my application.  I have tried other means to load the web page but due to formatting issue, all other methods fail to load the page correctly.  Any solution will need to use the mx HTML controls.
I have added a virtual keyboard to my project.  However, when I enter a text field and then select a key on the virtual keyboard, I lose focus on the text field.
I understand the concept of event listeners and using a variable to store the text field id and using a focus event to gain the id of the text field.  However, I am not a programmer by no means and this is way above my head.  I am looking for someone to spend 30 or 60 minutes adding the needed code to my project so I can use the virtual keyboard.  I would be willing to send someone a gift card to their favorite restaurant as compensation.
I have included the 4 files that make up my project (File names are in read text).
Your help will be greatly appreciated.
    Best regards,
    Joe

    Best regards,
    Joe

  • Yoga 2 11. Virtual keyboard in Tablet mode

    Hi.
Yoga 2 11 and Windows 8.1 is entirley new to me, so please excuse my lack of knowledge.
When PC is asleep in tablet mode, I cannot get the virtual keyboard in order to log in. When I try to type, it pops up for a second or so (varies in time), but then shrinks back down.
Has anyone see this and is there any way I can sort it out without refreshing Windows? The amount of work to do in reloading programmes and apps is just too painful. If anyone can help I'd be very grateful.
    Thanks
    Rob

    Hi Alaa
    Many thanks.
No actually - I haven't set a restore point, or even thought of doing that. It was Lenovo support that suggested a Windows refresh but when I saw that I would have to re-load apps etc., I backed out. I've done too much for that.
Are you suggesting that if I set a restore point, then I would keep everything already installed?
I now notice that under some circumstances the virtual keyboard pops up. For example it came up when I experimented by trying to answer this in tablet mode. It didn't do it the first time but when I was folding back, it suddenly and randomly came up. Also I was able to search on Maps with a virtual keyboard. But no way will it let me log on.To begin with, (first time I try in a session), it seems to wait until it detects my hand over it,  and then disappears into its shell!
    Thanks
    Rob

  • How do I hide the keyboard while typing an email?

On the iPad you can hide the keyboard anytime while typing.  I cannot see a way to hide the keyboard when typing a mail message. I saw a post saying you close, save, go to your saved messaes and open the message again - too time consuming.  There is a fix on the jailbroken site, but I dont want to jailbreak the phone.  There must be a way to hide the keyboard in a mail messge.  In a text message you can.  Any help would be appreciated.

    Edit
I CAN, but not fully for a preview, as the text box goes up completely after 80 odd characters on the iPhone.
So, now i cannot see a previous message for reference.
Apple needs to incorporate a  'hide keyboard' button

Are you using the virtual keyboard to input your password and you cannot see/find the characters you need on that keyboard?
Or are you trying to use a bluetooth keyboard and pressing the printed key does not produce the right character?

  • Virtual keyboard's context-menu: can users add items to it?

iPad's virtual keyboard has a context-menu: when you hold a finger down on the -a- key of the English keyboard, for example, a context-menu appears showing various accented/combining forms of the character -a- from which you can choose. Is there a way for users to add items to this context-menu? Could one add [ð] [u00F0, 'Latin eth'] to the [d] key's context-menu and [þ] [u00FE, 'Latin thorn'] to the [t] key's context-menu?

Unless there is a keyboard language that already supports those characters, then no. You cannot add additional options to the built-in keyboard. There are apps that extend the keyboard, one in particular is the Wolfram Alpha app. While I don't know if it supports the characters you are looking for, it does have an extensive variable based keyboard for input in addition to the system keyboard.

  • Built-in virtual keyboard

At times, when I reply to the article in discussion forum, the built-in virtual keyboard did not pop up as usual. Can I manually call for it? Otherwise, I cannot type my reply at all.

Firstly, there is no reply box.
Then why do you want/need the keyboard?
If there is no place to type, you will not get the keyboard to appear.
Actually, when I tap the Quote button, it will go to reply mode with the original article above my reply to be typed in
So there is a Reply box.

  • Feature Request: user-defined virtual keyboard popup for text fields

It would be convenient to be able to define (either declaratively in XML or programmatically) custom virtual keyboards (codepoints + font-name)  that could be popped up from the context-menu on any text field.
The string of characters produced on the virtual keyboard should be inserted into the associated text field at the .selectionBeginIndex location, or replace any selected text, if applicable.
Adobe could also supply  predefined keyboards, but the important thing is that the programmer have the ability to define custom layouts and choose which codepoints the virtual keyboard contains, and that it be launchablefrom a custom contextmenuitem or that it be very simple and easy to tell Adobe which layout should be launched shoulda default contextmenuitem be dedicated to this purpose.
Slick if it could support programmer-controlled transparency, so what lies beneath it could be revealed if the programmer desired.

User-controlled transparency (with a slider) would also be a nice feature, though the programmer should be able to hide/show the slider widget.
