Cannot highlight multiple pages

In the pages view, I would like to be able to highlight multiple pages in a document to move them around together, delete, etc.  I used to be able to do this, by clicking on a page, holding control and then clicking the other pages.  This no longer works; I also tried using shift just in case my memory is wrong.  Any thoughts on how to fix this?

I am working on Acrobat 9.  Regular updates for Microsoft are run on our server and I ran an Adobe flashplayer update yesterday.

    > a PDF/X-1a setting has fixed the problem
I still have the problem with more simple kinds of PDF: 150 dpi, no PDFX. I can not print multiple pages.
Furthermore I can not use the option
"print screen view" (in german language), both affects the
Reader 8 AND the Acrobat 8: it always only prints the first page of the document without any scaling.
Finally I can not use the printer
"Adobe PDF": it results in an endless spool action to that printer.
Yesterday Acrobat 8 was deinstalled with the
    deinstaller. The
new installation failed first because of a missing CD. The "AdobeExtendScriptToolkit2.0.1All.dmg" could fix the installation problem.
After successfull re-installation neither before nor after the update to Acrobat 8.1.0 the printing errors mentioned above were solved.
    What can we try next?

Weird hint: None of our three older G4 (10.4.10, CS3+4, Acrobat 8.1.0) has this printing or any other Acrobat problem. - So, is it even hardware related??

I would like to highlight multiple words in my Pages document so as to make changes to them all at once instead of each separately.  My mac came with this new pages so I cannot just go back to Pages '09.
    Thanks.

    Why not?
Didn't you migrate from your old Mac to the new? In which case Pages '08/'09 should be in your Applications/iWork folder.
Don't you have the original installers for Pages '09?

  • I am trying to highlight text on multiple pages, but Adobe will not autoscroll via cursor.

I am trying to highlight text on multiple pages, but when I select the text and bring the cursor to the bottom of the screen Adobe does not advance the document. How do I make it so I can highlight from page to page without having to release the mouse button?
Also, how do I get adobe to realize that there is a header and footer on each page, but the actual text in the file is in two columes. Is there a way to make this clear and embade it in the document so other programs recognize this too?

Regarding your first question, change the view to Single Page Continuous.

  • Cannot save beans in a session OR use the same beans in multiple pages

Hi all I use these code to my jsp file to create a session and store a bean.
Unfortunately, the session cannot store the beans so that I can use them in the next page. What did I omit? Regardless the session scope, can I use request scope beans and with jsp:forward use them in multiple page? (I have tried it but it doesn't work).

Does anyone have any suggestions for this problem?
I cannot drag my cursor, which means I cannot highlight things, I cannot scroll down/up without using the little arrows on the page.
    Thanks, Roy

After looking at other people's posts, I think it's official: there is a bug. Itunes support said I should not have lost the drag/drop tool and I haven't on the laptop that is running itunes 10.4 and operating system 10.6.8. I chatted with someboby who lost both his drag/drop and side scroll and what we have in common is a wacom tablet for a mouse. My laptop is a wireless mouse. I reinstalled whatever updated driver that wacom has out there, shut the system down for night, hoping for magic, but alas none to be had. So if I want to change song order, I network the laptop and desktop, share the screen on the laptop, drag and drop to my heart's content and curse Apple for making me work this hard to find the tool that was once at my fingertips. Apple also let me know that if I want to share songs in household that the hundreds on songs that were purchased for .99 need to be repurchased for another .30. Maybe Apple is holding my drag/drop tool captive til I pay up the money or Maybe the next update will fix the problem, I for one give up for now.

  • Sending Multiple Page Faxes

I am VERY annoyed with my IMAC G5. This was supposed to be the more User Friendly machine and I am finding it INFINITELY more difficult to use than the PC....
FAXING happens to be one of the MOST IMPORTANT functions for business use of Computers. With a PC there is a SEPARATE FAX program and all you have to do is put your Hard Copy on a Scanner or Printer/Scanner, Send it to the Fax Modem, insert your Cover Page and Phone Numer it's being Sent to...
And that's IT. Takes NO TIME at all to do.
The Mac on the other hand does NOT have a separate Fax Program and this requires you to Fax from your Printer/Scanner to another Application such as Preview. While I can send a Single Hard Copy Fax in that way, I do not seem to be able to Fax Multiple Pages. My Printer does indeed allow me to Scan the Multiple Pages which it specifically refers to as Pages (of the same Doc) BUT while Preview does receive the Scans (as JPEGS) and inserts them all in the Drawer next to whichever Page is Highlighted, so far I have not found a way to get Preview to recognize them as Pages of the SAME Fax, thus requiring that I Send numerous Faxes (that's numerous Phone Calls)
This is ABSURD. The Third Worlder on Apple Support just informed me that he can't find any Info on Sending Multiple Page Faxes via the MAC...
I CAN'T BELIEVE that could be so because if it is, MAC is being run by a bunch of IDIOTS if they don't know how important this function is.
PLEASE, if there's anyone out there who has the answer, Let Me Know, I'm about to throw this here so called 'state of the Art' IMAC G5 into the TRASH and bring back my trusty high powered Dell Desktop.
    Westbroadway, NYC

Thanks for the efforts to be of help.
I'm using a simply Lexmark 1100 All In One Printer/Scanner and that machine
DOES indeed allow one to Scan 'additional' Pages to FAX. The problem as I
understand it is that Mac does NOT provide a FAX 'Program' as such but simply FAX capability via the built in Modem.
What this means is that you cannot Send the Scan to FAX specifically but must instead Send to another Mac Application, namely Preview, that appllication not having the capability of dealing with Multiple Page Faxes obviously.
You can also Fax from the Mac Apple Works Word Processor but that works for Documents created (or I presume 'copied' or 'pasted') in such Document form.
There may be a 'method' there whereby after scanning the pages you could then get them into Apple Works docs BUT this is a lot of fuss and bother just to do what should be and IS the EASIEST thing to do in Windows PCs that do
    have actual FAX programs.
My guess is that there must be a Program that can be added to one's IMac to enable such Multi Page FAXING, either an Apple or Third Party Fax program. If anyone has more info on that it's appreciated. This is complicated by the fact that the use of FAX seems to have become somewhat outmoded by EMail BUT there are a lot of Businesses still using FAX and so you there's a need to continue to have that communication process available.
I now have ANOTHER question to add to this which I'll also post as a separate topic altogether even though it is tangential:
I have converted to a One Line does All set up from Manhattan Cable that provides in addition to the TV service, High Speed Road Runner Net, AND a
Digital Phone which rate is supposedly much better than the competitors.
The Road Runner is INCREDIBLE, BLAZING Speed, how bout a 56MB File in less than 2 minutes. In addition, this set up has allowed me to eliminate a Second Phone Line dedicated to the Computer and FAX, which saves me bucks.
The PROBLEM is that my Answering Machine is defeated when I have the Mac set to Receive Faxes. For sure I can deal with this by informing Clients that they can only Fax the Specs for jobs and the like when I'm at my Desk and can activate the Receive BUT I would prefer to have it the old way where they could FAX me AT ANY TIME whether I was at my desk or not and it would go through and otherwise if it was Voice, the Answering Machine would pick up.
I'm told by the company that they do not have a cure for this problem as yet because both the Answering Machine and Fax are on the same Line and the
Mac accords priority to the Fax when in Receive Fax mode. SO what I have to do is leave the Receive Fax OFF when I leave my office so the Answering Machine can take the messages.
Two 'possible' solutions have been suggeste, One is that I might be able to get an Answering Machine that has some sophisticated 'switching' system that could determine where the call should go. A Second idea is that I might be able to get a 'Switching Device' that can be introduced in the Line.
But again, it seems to me that at this late date for the Technology, there must be some 'intelligence' available to install in the Mac itself that could instantly determine if the incoming call is Fax or Voice and send it appropriately on its way...
GOT to be some relatively simple Program or Technology to deal with this I would assume...
    SR
(The latter is not an insurmountable problem needless to say, I CAN simply ask my clients to call ahead and make sure I'm here before they Fax me. But it would be much nicer if it could be hooked up the other way... )

  • Dealing with multiple pages in Pages

While constructing a document, writing at the bottom of the page will continue the text onto a new page. However, if viewing these multiple pages in the sidebar, you'll notice they are grouped together (highlighted by a yellow box) and they cannot be rearranged. Pages does something silly and rearranges these pages as a group rather than single pages - For instance, if I wanted to move page 2 above page 1 you would normally drag page 2 above page 1, but they are grouped so it is impossible to do so.
Anyone know of a workaround for this?

    Hi Tyler,
You are working in a document that began life as a Word Processing Template, or as a Word import.
The yellow box identifies a Section. Only Sections can be rearranged by dragging. The Page Thumbnail icons are only there to give you a sense of the size of the Section and to allow you to jump to a page by clicking on the icon.
It would normally not make any sense to rearrange pages as it would mess up the text flow. Therefore you Select the content of a Page, Copy it, place your text insertion cursor where the want the copied content to go and Paste.

  • Scanning Multiple Pages using HP ENVY 4500

Hi, I have a macbook pro running OSX 10.9.4, and cannot see how I can scan multiple pages.  I have tried using Image Capture and the Scan function under system preferences.  I place the first page on the glass and change format to pdf and check the box that says 'combine into single document'. It usually 'automatically' scans the page at this point, and if I click Overview Scan, it scans again.  If I try to click on "Scan' it says it is done scanning the selected area.  I have no idea what to do after this, or where to find the document (its not showing up in the selected 'Scan To' location.
