Cannot host (via Port Forwarding)

Just got my BT Infinity installed couple of hours ago, and the first thing I did was download some large file games also I wanted to host Terraria (Game) and I know how to port forward because I could before host with my older router given by my previous provider.
When I host my game, no one can join and even I my self cannot connect to my own game!
Am I port forwarding wrong? I added the game "Terraria" with ports 7777-7777 and then assigned to my computer, or is this all normal because I'm using a new line and I can't host yet?
Please reply, because one of the reason I bought Infinity was so I can host large amount of players and less lag.

Is there no sticker on the router that gives make/model info? If not, we really can't help you. Even if you did know what the make/model was, you'd probably need to contact the manufacturer or ISP for support.

  • Remote TC access via port forwarding

    I have been trying to setup my network for remote TC access via port forwarding. Here's my setup:
    Verizon FiOS router (main router, dhcp & nat) -> connected to TC set in bridge mode with a static IP
    I can remotely access the TC using Back to my Mac with no problems, and of course locally on the home network via Wifi.
    Since the TC has to connect in bridge mode, port forwarding is done on the FiOS router.
    If I set a port forwarding rule in the FiOS router TCP,UDP (any) to port 548, it works. However I want to use a specific connection port
    so others can't connect unless they know the forwarded port. BTW, I have remote disk sharing set with Use Device Password.
    So here's what works:
    FiOS Router (TCP any -> 548, UDP any ->548)
    What doesn't work:
    FiOS router (TCP 8990 -> 548, UDP 8990 -> 548).
    Is there any additional setting required for specific port forwarding to work?

    You're my hero!
    I also have my TC in Bridge Mode to my Verizon FIOS Router.  I used to be able to access my TC remotely, but since I upgraded my router (MI424WR GigE), I had forgotten some port forwarding rules I must have established in my old router.  Once I re-created these two port forwarding rules (just like yours), I can remote access my TC (with TC password) again.
    In addition, I have a static host name aliased to my dynamic IP address through dyndns.org (I have the free version, which I don't think is available anymore, but there are other free providers out there) for easier remote access.
    Regarding, Secure Share Disks: with TC password vs a disk password. Is one more secure than the other?
    Thanks!

  • WRT54GC Cannot save new port forwarding configs

    I have a WRT54GC, and I use port forwarding, and have several ranges configured already.  But now I find that I cannot add or change any of the existing configurations.  Whenever I modify anything, and click Save Settings, the browser window just hangs there forever.  Reloading, or opening a new browser window shows that no changes were saved.  If I open the forwarding page and click Save Settings without changing anything, then it works OK.  But that, of course, is useless.
    BT

    Hi… I hope you are not making any changes on a wireless PC. Delete an entire row from that page and try saving that. See what happens. I could not guess why are you doing so much of port forwarding? You can trigger the port whenever you access any service from outside. Forwarding is to be used only for hosting a service (such as FTP server) or for specific devices (such as Xbox or VoIP devices). If you are not able to save the settings when you delete the row in that screen, just go ahead and reset the router for 1 min by pressing the reset button and reconfigure it.

  • Arrrgghhhhh Cannot port forward.......

    Hi All
    I am running a Solwise SAR-600E ADSL Router and try as I might I cannot get a port forward working.
    I have been to the Port Forward website read loads of stuff found the port fort forward settings for another Solwise router which is as good as identical to what I have.
    I have spent since last Monday trying to get this router to do this.
    Can any more expierenced Ethernet router user offer any advice please.
    I have my Mac setup in static IP address mode.
    If more info required please ask
    I think there maybe other setting on the router that need adjusting ohter tham the port forward setting to get this going, but hey what do I know I'm a noob with these things.

    Hi Ya
    Always the way is'nt it, post for help then solve your own problem.
    It turned out that I had the remains of a firewall program that I used to run still sitting in the background checking unwanted traffic.
    I pinged towards the router and got blocked.
    Removed offending files and all now OK..

  • Problems with Port Forwarding for RDP in WebVPN

    Hi,
    I'm hoping somebody can help me solve this problem that's been bugging for weeks. We recently implemented a double-layer firewall architecture. Before that, our users can access RDP via port forwarding on WebVPN or the Cisco VPN client without any problems.
    After we implemented the double-layer firewall architecture, users who are going through the WebVPN and port forwarding for RDP began to experience frequent disconnections, slowness or freezing connections. The users who are using the client are fine.
    I checked the logs and I'm getting repetitive TCP-O for the port forwarding connections for RDP. Additional information: the FW we installed as a 2nd layer is Netscreen. I've already set the policy on it to Any-Any for the meantime to help in troubleshooting but to no avail.
    I hope somebody can help me in sorting this out as I'm kind of confused on the difference between the port-forwarding for RDP via the WebVPN and the normal RDP via the client.

    Hi,
    I didnt see anything marked with red in the above? (Atleast when I was reading)
    I have not really had to deal with Routers at all since we all access control and NAT with firewalls.
    But to me it seems you have allowed the traffic to the actual IP address of the internal server rather than the public IP NAT IP address which in this case seems to be configured to use your FastEthernet4 interfaces public IP address.
    There also seems to be a Static NAT configured for the same internal host so I am wondering why the Static PAT (Port Forward) is used?

  • Scan port forwarding problem

    I have a two nodes 11g r2 rac and I am unable to connect via port forwarding to the scan connection. I can connect to the vip addresses but not to the scan. I get an ORA-12170: TNS:Connect timeout occurred
    Should I forward the scan ports to both nodes? Which host should I use? Any clues?
    Thank you.

    Then no, use VIP directly.
    Its possible ofcourse to "hack" it a little, but I think its useless, because you can connect using VIP instead:
    * Use SSH to forward each VIP port to your local computer, but each VIP to different local interface... for example node1-vip:1521 forward to 127.0.0.1:1521, node2-vip:1521 to 127.0.0.2:1521 and so on
    * Add all VIP hostnames to your hosts file... so node1-vip.yourdomain will resolve to 127.0.0.1, node2-vip will resolve to 127.0.0.2 and so on
    Now when you connect to SCAN, your local computer will know how to resolve and connect each VIP the SCAN redirects it to.

  • How connect to oracle RAC via the RSG using port forwarding

    Hi all,
    I got a problem trying to connect to oracle RAC via the RSG using port forwarding .
    on command line i sue to connect :
    sqlplus 'username/password@(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS_LIST=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=firstRACnode)(PORT=1521))(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=secondRACnode)(PORT=1521)))(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVICE_NAME=MSDP)))'
    but when using port forwarding i forward the port 1521 to a local port and make ssh to the DB node ( as normal with other nodes but not RAC) but it never work with me for this situation
    can any one give me a help ifthere is any changes should be done on the server side , or if any one faced such a problem and found a solution
    Thanks,

    Step 1
    Create a ssh tunnel from local machine to remote db server. Forward any local port (should not be a well known port or a port in the private/dynamic port range) to connect to the database server's listener port. If the ssh tunnel is into the db server itself, the connection (port forwarding) can be on localhost (as the Listener should be listening on it). Alternatively use a public IP of that db server.
    Example (using OpenSSH on Ubuntu 9.4):
    Local server port 1527 tunneled to port 1521 on database server 192.168.0.100 using o/s account johnd (we connect to port 1521 on db server via 127.0.0.1):
    ssh -X -f -N -o ServerAliveInterval=3 -L 1527:127.0.0.1:1521 [email protected]
    Step 2
    Run sqlplus and connect to the local fowarded port on localhost, using the applicable connection settings (e.g SID/Service Name, etc).
    sqlplus scott/tiger@"(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=127.0.0.1)(PORT=1527)) (CONNECT_DATA=(SID=orcl) (SERVER=dedicated)))"Note that the Listener must not hand our connection off - as the case would be when using RAC for example and connecting via a Service Name and not a SID. We need the Listener that accepts our connection to immediately hand us over to the database instance (via either a dedicated server or a shared server dispatcher process).

  • Cannot Port Forward RV042 in "Router" Mode

    I use an RV042 exclusively as our VPN host to our main network for branch office connectivity. The RV042 is configured in Router Mode and does not provide Internet / NAT access to the LAN. I would like to add an additional role to this unit by having it Port Forward web requests to an internal Web Server. It appears that the router cannot do Port Forwarding while configured in Router mode; can you confirm this to be true? Is there a work around or an alternate configuration that would allow me to port forward web requests from the Internet to my Internal Web Server and still keep the RV042 in Router only mode?
    Thanks

    Mike,
    The port forwarding feature only works in the context of NAT. This is true for all small business routers.

  • Can not port forward on WRT54GS v6 "You cannot use the router IP"

    Hello, I'm trying to open a port number, but when I try to use my router's IP, the following message appears
     "You cannot use the router IP, network, or broadband address"
    [IMG]http://i45.tinypic.com/107qond.jpg[/IMG]
    My ADSL was working as a NAT behind a NAT connection, so I had to change my Local IP Address to 192.168.2.1.
    Router: WRT54GS v6 firmware 1.52.8 (latest)  -  Bellsouth router: Westell 6100
    Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7600]
    Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:
       Connection-specific DNS Suffix  . : launchmodem.com
       Link-local IPv6 Address . . . . . : fe80::40a9:a76e:61b3:6435%11
       IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.2.100
       Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
       Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.2.1
    So, please help me, how can I open ports on my router? =[
    PS: I tried to use 192.168.2.100, and even though it lets me use it, it still seems not to open that port... my IP is dynamic.

    Generally: NAT behind NAT is a bad idea. There is usually no need for double NAT. Either configure the ADSL router as bridge and use the WRT for your internet connection or set up the WRT as simple access point behind the ADSL router.
    It's also unclear to me what is working or not. First I thought you can't set up forwarding at all because you get that error message. Then, in your PS you write you tried to use 192.168.2.100 and that seemed to be possible. The IP address to forward to must be the IP address of the computer to which you want to forward. Thus 192.168.2.100 is exactly the IP address you have to set up. Does this work or not?
    Also remember: with double NAT you must set up two forwardings: first on the ADSL router then on the WRT. Port forwarding is necessary to allow incoming traffic through NAT. All incoming traffic arrives on the ADSL router. Thus setting up port forwarding on the WRT only won't do a thing.
    It's also not recommend to use dynamic IPs for forwarding destinations. Dynamic IP addresses may change over time and that requires you to adjust forwardings accordingly. It's better to reserve fixed IP addresses (if your WRT supports this) or set a static IP address on the computer outside the DHCP address pool.

  • How to Port forward your router via browser

    I Am having trouble port forwarding 19132 and I tried using airport extreme to port forward but everyTime I connect using my external ip it just fails.
    i Have port forwarded the port, and I did it correctly, hence I watched a few videos before and after. so I need to know how to port forward 19132 via browser.
    i Learned how to open the the config of the router via browser, or so I thought. I need to allow google access to my network, but I don't know how.
    please help.

    This is for Apple routers which do not use browser setup.. you must use the airport utility for any setup.
    There is particular advice by the section GURU.. Tesserax on how to port forward in apple routers.
    Finding the tips is now an exercise though.

     Hi guys, would anyone be able to tell me what the above messages in my HH3's log mean?  My connection has been fine but I would like to know why this is happening every few seconds.
    At first I thought it was because of a certain program I was using but it happens even when this program isn't running so I just don't know!!  Any help is appreciated.
    EDIT:  So I'm guessing it's something to do with having UPnP turned on.  The reason I'm asking is because I've seen other people's logs and they aren't filled with this message.

    Thanks, TommyBobbins.
    I will turn off UPnP and see what happens.
    I checked the logs again my computer has a lease of 192.168.1.64 - this IP address is also showing the same error in the logs. I suspect the other IP address, ending in 65 is my Dad's computer. He uses Windows and I use Mac.
    I'll keep you posted.
    EDIT:  Just turned off UPnP and that was OK.  I checked a program called uTorrent and it says the incoming TCP port (54488) is working.....I find this strange as I have portforwarding turned off... :s
    Any ideas?

    As you can see it happens on different ports and UDP and TCP ports....
    Hasn't happened in the 20mins or so I've had UPnP turned off.  Still, I am curious as to what causes this.

  • [WRT310N] Single Port Forwarding - Cannot save settings

    Alright, I updated the firmware on my WRT310N (actually after contacting support asking if No-IP.com was added to the DDNS settings, and I was told that the new update would include it, which it didn't) to v1.0.07-LS-HND and now I cannot save any settings in the Single Port Forwarding settings.  I've tested with both Firefox 3.0.7 and IE7.
    Everytime I select "Save Settings," I get:
    Error: F.from0 is undefined Source File: http://192.168.0.1/SingleForward.asp Line: 137
    This is really annoying.  Luckily everything I have set I don't need to change...I just want to add.
     This is the function code:
    function chk_port_range(F)
        var i;
        var from, to, pro, ip;
        for(i=0; i<15; i++) {
            if ( eval( "F.enable"+i+".checked" ) == true ) {
                from = eval( "F.from"+i+".value" );
                to = eval( "F.to"+i+".value" );
                pro = eval( "F.pro"+i+".value" );
                ip = eval( "F.ip"+i+".value" );
                if ( chk_range_helper(from, to, pro, ip) == false ) {
                    alert ( errmsg.err74 );
                    eval( "F.enable"+i ).checked = false;
                    return false;
        return true;

    I have exactly the same problem
    Does Linksys/Cisco have plans on fixing this issue?
    cabozone, thank you for the workaround, but its true that the slots are not enough, crap !

  • Re: port forwarding bt hub 3 via homeplugs

    Hi I have set up portforwarding on my router and says open on my Xbox one but when I do online check it's says closed wich is giveing me lag on games like (fifa 14) I have tryed everything but there is 1 more thing I think may be causeing it I use homeplugs and they are connected through 1 main source I was wondering do you have to portforward the homeplugs and always use ip adress

    To this date, I've never seen a game which requires ports to be open.
    Let me explain briefly how port forwarding works:
    After defining a port-forwarding rule, this tells your router which device to send incoming packets on those port(s)
    You would only need to set up a rule if an external service needed to connect to an application via that port when there was no ongoing connection
    Games do not require ports to be forwarded because they open connections to the multiplayer servers/voice servers and all communication between the game and the external server is via that connection
    If a service required port forwarding, it would not 'lag' without it, it would simply not work. The data could not be passed to the service if it was a requirement.
    If you are indeed experiencing lag due to a poor internet connection to your Xbox, follow these steps:
    Restart your Home Hub and check if the connection improves
    Ensure your Homeplugs are not connected to extensions, they are connected to wall sockets
    Ensure the cable going between your Hub and the Homeplug is connected to the 'GBit' port on the Hub (should improve bandwidth)
    Remove any port forwarding rules you have made in an attempt to fix this issue
    If possible, try using a wireless connection or try wiring the Xbox directly to the router
    If the connection issues occur across multiple devices, please provide details.
    Thanks!
