Did you make this template via File > Save as Template?
I think the problem you describe tends to happen when multiple books are created via File > Duplicate

  • Why do pdf's imported into ibooks open in adobe reader?

I imported a PDF file into iBooks, expecting it to behave as the other books in there.
However, when I go to open the book, it is opened in adobe acrobat instead - why is that? I don't see anything in the preferences?
If importing a PDF into iBooks doesn't add the iBooks experience for bookmarks, highlights, etc., what is the purpose? Is it just for organization? That would seem rather less than interesting.
    Thanks,
    Robert

    Hello,
Do all PDFs open in Firefox now? If so then it seems your Default Programs have been changed in Windows.
If you have a PDF file saved on your computer handy:
    # Right click on the PDF and Properties
    # Under the General tab, beside "Opens with" is probably Firefox, click the button "Change"
    # Select Adobe Reader and press "OK"
Alternatively if you cannot find a PDF file saved on your computer:
    # Go to Start > Control Panel > Default Programs
    # Click Associate a file type or protocol with a program
    # Scroll until you find the filetype ".pdf"
    # Click the "Change program..." button
    # Select Adobe Reader followed by "OK"
Hopefully that fixes it for you.

  • Cannot import into iTunes?

I cannot import music into my iTunes as when i try it says i don't have access but i have checked my media folder and i have the permissions to import?

Don't try to import into the actual media folder. Drag songs into the Music window in the iTunes application, that way they get imported and indexed. Note that the file must be in one of the formats listed here:

  • When importing iPad photos into Aperture, I cannot import into an existing album, only create a new project.

I dont want to create a new project for every group of photos being brought over from my iPad. My iPhone worked perfectly. I was able to choose which project/album I could import into, why would the iPad, running the same iOS, be any different?

    Hi Dave,
Welcome to the user-support Aperture discussion forum.
You would probably benefit from reading Kirby's introduction: [http://discussions.apple.com/messageview.jspa?messageID=13124533&stqc=true]
Is there any way to simply import photos into those albums without having to create all of those annoying projects?
That's a loaded question. It's not "yes or no" according to exactly how you asked it.
You do not have to create a new project for each import, but every picture lives in exactly 1 project. You can then point to any photo from any number of albums. You cannot put a photo directly into an album because an album does not contain photos, it only contains "pointers" to photos.
So, you, as the user, have the ability to put your imports into an existing project. Why are you creating a new project every time?

  • Cannot import into iMovie from iDVD

I have started to save my movies from my Sony Camera onto DVD using iDVD OneStep. But now I have discovered that I cannot use these DVD's to import the into iMovie.
    Am I doing something wrong?
    Thanks

probably you misunderstand the concept and workflow of the diff. iLife apps:
iDVD is the Disk Maker of iLife. no editor, no Movie Maker (allthough you're allowed to do basic things as slideshows etc...)
for editing, you have to import from camera via iMovie..
when editing is done, you share to iDVD, which finally produces the disks.. end of the road.
    have you seen the tutorials?

.avi is an MS Windows video file format but it doesn't specify the codec used inside the file. When you open it in Quicktime and look in the Movie Inspector, what is the video format?
I suspect it's MPEG. If so MPEG streamclip should be able to convert it to an iMovie compatible format. It's a FREE download here: http://www.squared5.com/
If it happens to be an MPEG2 video then you'd also need the Apple Quicktime MPEG component which is available from Apple here: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/mpeg2/ for $19.95
Even if the video is not MPEG, MPEG streamclip may be able to convert it.

  • Cannot import into iPad keynote

Greetings everyone; I have MS Office 2008 and iWork '09 on my MacBook Pro with the latest iTunes and Mac OS X 10.6.4. For some reason, files will not copy from my iTunes keynote file list onto my iPad. I have seven PowerPoint presentations to load on my iPad, but they just won't go over. I tried saving them as .key files in Keynote on my MBP and importing them to iPad Keynote, but that also doesn't work. I was able to copy over .ppt files and open them in iPad Keynote before, but now nothing works, not even importing .key files. If anyone has any suggestions on how to fix this, please let me know.

    I have the same problem,
    and couldn't find a solution

  • Do MathType equations in Word import effectively into iBooks Author?

I am looking for the best way to build MathType equations in Word to successfully import into iBooks Author.

That seems like an extra step. Since iBooks Author (iBA) already has a "MathType Equation" command on its Insert menu, why not do it directly from iBA?
If, however, you want to do it as you describe (or perhaps you have an existing Word document and you want to use its equations in iBA -- that makes sense), you'll need to build the equations in Word, then select the one you want (i.e., click on it once), copy it, then use the Insert > MathType Equation command in iBA. When MathType opens, paste the equation into the window. Close MathType and the equation will insert into iBA.
Incidentally, WRT TX Aggie SE's suggestion to use the MS Word Equation Editor, I think you'll find that'll produce less than satisfactory results in iBA, no matter if you use the "old" equation editor, or the "new" one that was introduced in Word 2011.

  • Lightroom photos edited in PS CS3 & saved on desktop, cannot be imported into iPhoto or resized in M

    Hi,
After editing photos from Lightroom in Photoshop CS3, I saved them on the desktop (Mac, Leopard 10.2.5). With these saved photos I find I cannot:
    Import into iPhoto or
Resize in Mail (large, medium or small) - they stay the same size.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks
    Caroline

It is too big for mail. -From CS3 -File> Save for web & devices and use this copy for mail.
Better from LR -Menu-Photo>Edit in Adobe CS3. Do the works. Menu File Save-save picture to original folder if dialog opens Click red dot and edited pict appears on LR next to original one-The edited picture should be export... This opens a dialog -a copy will be send to a folder Name it and give it a location ( To Mail ) (Desk)-From File Settings chose Jpg and sRGB ,size W640 H640 and 72 pixels-check copyright water mark if you have one- Minimized Embedded Metadata-From Post-Processing pick Mail Alias and EXPORT.
If you don't have a mail alias go to the folder where it was exported and drag the picture right into the Mail Icon on the dock or any open mail-now u can use the sizing from mail.

  • Cannot import specific MOV file into iMovie. HELP please!

I have been using iMovie for many years and am not a novice.
For some reason, I have a specific MOV file that I cannot import into iMovie 10.0.5.  When I try to import the file, I get an error message:
"No Importable Files: None of the selected files or folders can be imported"
The file is NOT corrupt and plays perfectly in QuickTime. Interestingly, when I try to import the movie in iMovie, it shows 0.0 sec duration, even though it load/plays perfectly in iMovie with a duration of 54:45.  See file A1 below:
I even tried converting the file to M4V in Quicktime, but iMovie would still not import the new M4V file.
Any suggestions?  This is an important Movie, I cannot re-record it, and I need to edit it in iMovie.
    Thanks in advance!

I copied it below.  I would appreciate any suggestions!

  • Cannot import or see iphoto slide exported movie in imovie

I made a movie from slides in iphoto. I then decided that a caption might be nice, and went to imovie to add it. iMovie '08 is not able to read the file. It is a .mov, and other movies it reads are .mov, so I cannot fathom why it cannot be read. If I use import, the title is not highlighted - as if it is not a recognized format. QT reads the movie just fine of course. iDVD sees the file just fine too.

I concur, I also exported a slideshow from iphoto and cannot import into iMovie08. Looking at the info for the .mov file its an MPEG-4 file which is supposed to be supported so this is not good. ... unless there is some trick (which we shouldnt have to do of course).

  • Cannot import .MOV files with Premiere Elements 12: generic error. Using Windows 8.1 (64b)

This question was already on the forum for older version of Premiere and Windows. I'm making my videos (.MOV format) with the digital camera Casio EX-ZR400.
I have no any problems with Photoshop Elements 12 for pictures produced by this camera.

    Dngineer
What is the source of your .mov file..(brand/model/settings of the camera that recorded the video)......what is the video and audio compression and frame rate?
Are you working with the 12.1 Update of 12? If not, please do so using an opened project's Help Menu/Update. Both QuickTime and Premiere Elements need to be run from a User Account with Administrative Privileges. Are you doing that?
    Narrowing things down
Are all files with the .mov file extensions the only video files that you cannot import into the program? Any exceptions?
When you open Premiere Elements 12/12.1 to the Expert workspace and go to Publish+Share/Computer/QuickTime, does that choice have its presets?
Let us start here and decide what next based on your reply.
    Thank you.

  • Cannot import .mp4 files in iMovie HD

I have a file which was ripped from a DVD using HandBrake, that was converted to .mp4, which I cannot import into iMovie HD 6. It starts to import it...takes about 30 minutes to import a 20 minute video, and then at the last minute says "Error Importing".
Does anyone have any ideas on what to do?
    Thanks,
    Ryan

.mov is just a container, some say "wrapper"… should be a "dv" file… or a mov with a dv inside, to be precise…
avi is a NoGo, that is a PC container, you never know what's inside (iM is no all-purpose editor, it is meant for miniDV)
    ahhh! <bulb over head>
is your iM project located on ext. drive?
then you've reached the "famous" 19min barrier of wrong formatted drives!
launch Disk Utility from your Utility Folder
    select ext. drive
look under format… my guess: FAT32… right?
    should be "MacOsExtended/hfs(+)"…
ext. drives have to be formatted that way for video projects.... formatting erases all content on drive, make sure, you've backupped all content…
