Cannot import jpg files from any devices & files

Everytime I want to use Premiere Elements 11 with importing from hard DD from my computer or camera using usb connection, I get this error message: File Dimensions(Width/heights) too large whereas they work fine with Windows Movie Maker.  Therefore, I've never used this software ever since purchased.  Frustrating.

Without exact system info and info about your files (or for that matter your camera) nobody can help you.

  • IPhoto crashes when I import jpg files

I use iPhoto 6.0.5, which is the latest. I have 1908 photos on an ext drive. I never had any problem importing photos, but now I cannot import jpg files. It would start by saying importing, but it just crashes. No warning. What to do? I already tried using Photoshop Elements to resave and import.

  • When I import .jpg files they sparodically turn to black.  Any suggestions?

I am using Premier Pro CS3.  When I import .jpg files, they suddenly turn to black.  Any suggestions?

I also think that JPEGs themselves can be sometimes problematic in CS3. You may also want to try converting them to PSD or BMP.
As I remember from discussions on the old forum...
Depending on how the JPG was created (which software and/or which camera) there is sometimes "extra" information inside the file header that confuses Premiere since it is not part of the basic file specification
Solution was to open in Photoshop (or, rarely, a non-Adobe program) and save to a new name or, as Dan says, to a different format

  • PrE 11 will not import .jpg files from organizer

    Hi,
I just upgraded from PS & PrE 8 to the lastest version 11. I'm running on a Windows 7 pc.  My catalog was successfully converted and new pictures were added.  I now want to create a dvd with both pictures and videos.  I tried various ways to import .jpg files in PrE but some (most) of my files will not import.  I get error messages about the files not being supported (missing codex) or the files being too large.
After reading on the forums and on Adobe help site.  It seems opening and resaving the files in the organizer fix this.  I try and it worked.  As I have many files to import (200+), I wonder if there is a way to do some sort of a batch process for all file.
Secondly, also I read PrE can automatically resize the image file to the project size.  How can this be acheive ?
    Thanks for your help

Please see my answer to this question. It's essentially the same answer I'd give you.

You can not create a playable DVD or incorporate video and photos in the same project with full resolution photos on it. Video resolution/TV resolution is only 720x480 (standard resolution) or 1920x1080 (high rez).
Premiere Elements has a governor that limits the size of a photo you can add to a video project (which is probably what you're running into). In fact, you'll get much better results if you use LOWER resolution photos in your video project -- 1000x750 pixels for DVDs and standard resolution video and 2000x1500 for BluRays and high-def video.

  • Cannot find jpg files in LR.

I cannot find jpg files in LR when convert them from raw in PS. Jpgs are in the appropriate folder when I use Explorer but I do not see any files when I try to import new files in LR. The jpgs used to show up automatically but I don't see any of my files when I browse using Import Photos and Video in LR.

I don't have an answer as to why Preview doesn't want to cooperate, but if you only need to view the jpeg's and do nothing else to them, you can use two FREE applications that come already pre-installed on your Mac... Those are iPhoto and Safari. Just drag and drop over the application icon.
You can also find several FREE photo viewers in the APP STORE.

  • Cannot open jpg files in Preview? Error message "may be damaged or use a file format that preview does not recognize".

For some reason I cannot open jpg files from a co-worker who previosuly sent files without any problems.  I just bought a MacBook Air with OS X Lion & Preview won't open the files.  She sent the same files to another co-worker who opened without any issues?  Help!  Anyone have any suggestions after having the same or similar problem?

  • I write both JPG and DNG files in the camera.   Camera is a Leica Monochrom.   Photo, unlike iPhoto, seems to ignore DNG files and only imports JPG files.   What am I missing here?

I write both JPG and DNG files in the camera.   Camera is a Leica Monochrom.   Photo, unlike iPhoto, seems to ignore DNG files and only imports JPG files when both are present on the SD card.  JPGs are used for quick proofing on an iPad.    DNG RAW files are edited on a Mac Pro (2013).    Other than deleting the JPGs before importing images from the SD card,  is there any way to force Photo to select and import only the DNG images?

    Thanks Larry,
I did see the J stacked in the lower left of the thumbnails but couldn't figure out how to get to whatever is below it.   How do you select R?
I use an iPad to do quick proofs of my images.   A JPG is good enough for a proof ( dust on the lens,  composition, blown out image, etc. ).   The iPad is JPG friendly and can load the images quickly.    Serious editing takes place on my Mac Pro with the DNG files.   I use the same workflow with the the Leica M 240.   iPhoto has been a quick and easy importer to the Mac capturing all of the metadata in the EXIF sidecar file ( location, date, time,  camera settings, lens type).  A quick scan in iPhoto for the "keepers" let's me export those worth editing to Lightroom/Bridge/Photoshop.  I typically shoot 50 images from three locations in a normal day.  If I'm lucky I'll get 1 worth real work to add to the portfolio.

  • I cannot print .jpg files created in PS or Painter 11 on my Canon Pixma MP500 Printer?

Using SnowLeopaard on my iMac, I cannot print .jpg files created in PS or Corel Painter 11 on my Canon Pixma MP 500. No file is sent to the print que. My iMac prints well with Word, TextEdit, etc. AppleCare says the problem is with the printer even though there was no problem printing with previous Apple OSX.

Do You use the latest version of the Printer Driver?
And as You specifically mention jpg, I wonder: Are You able to print other file formats?
If all else fails You could try saving pdfs and printing from Acrobat.

  • Cannot import Illustrator files - crash to desktop

    Hello:
I've been experimenting with the Catalyst beta at work, but it seems I cannot import Illustrator files (yet phototshop files are fine). What happens is the following:
    1) Click "From Adobe Illustrator AI File..." link on the start screen.
    2) Choose an AI file in the file selector (I used the one found at http://www.insideria.com/2009/06/flash-catalyst-beta-1-top-bran.html)
    3) Catalyst begins the process and shows a progress bar, but then immediately crashes to desktop without warning.
I've tried several other AI files, but the results are the same. Is anyone else having this problem?
System specs (if it matters) are:
    Windows XP SP2
    Professional x64 Edition
    Intel core 2 Duo
    2.33GHz, 3.93 GB of RAM

Ok, this is going to sound strange, but here's what happened:
    1) I went to the Catalyst directory to retrieve the log file you mentioned. It seems I had generated about nineteen or so of these logs. I've gone ahead and attached them to this post.
    2) I deleted all of these logs out of my Catalyst directory.
    3) I went back and performed the above steps, and it worked! I even tried another AI file, and it imported successfully.
The only thing that has changed since yesterday is the fact that I deleted these logs. I'm baffled...

  • Cannot import Tiff files

a few days after importing my folders the import dialogue window has changed and I cannot import TIFF files anymore, only jpg and raw!! what can I do???
    Thanks Axel

I am guessing then, done as an Export to TIFF with the Export Dialogue, not Export to PSCS, then. Are they named the same as the Raw file except fot the Extension? If so, change the name by adding something like -edit.TIF and they will be imported. LR maybe seeing them as sidecars to the RAW and like JPEGs generated as a pair with a RAW by a camera, LR ignores it.
There are a number of very long threads on this issue. Most are titled impart 'RAW - JPEG'.

  • Cannot import .mov files generated by Toast

    Hi All,
I have a strange issue : I had old HI8 tapes that I got transferred on DVDs (VOB files). I then converted these files in HD DV with Toast 10, which generated AIC (Apple Intermediate Codec) files encapsulated in mov that I can perfectly read with Quicktime X (I run SL 10.6.2). The issue is I just cannot import these files in IMovie 09 (the corresponding files are "greyed" in the finder...)
Does anyone has a clue on why this happens?
    Thanks!

I have kind similar issue ,I try to convert .mts from canon in toast 9 to .mov but for iMovie 09 it's not good...there is slight difference in some parameters of AIC what iMovie use on it's own when you do import directly from camcorder /this codes is that Litte Endian/ and output of tast9 is /AIC ,ACC/...so all my files on hard drive are not importable for now ,looks like the compatibility of .mov container is terrible...it's frustrating I tried also voltaic converter and few more but they output is useless...it's rough & cranky...so I'm looking for solution as well....

  • Cannot open .jpg files; says read-only and no access

I cannot open .jpg files I've been working on, even though I saved them as .jpg.  The prompt kept asking me to save the files over & over.  I did for a while then said NO to close the files.  Now it says access is denied.  Went to properties and tried to uncheck box for read-only, but it says I don't have access to do that.  How can I get my files back...these were very special photos.  Please help!

No...just PSE7.  Unfortunately, when I tried to cut & paste the photos from
my camera disk to my hard drive, the problem photo completely disappeared.
When I go into recent history, the shortcuts are there, but none of them
work.  They say the file has been moved or changed so...I don't even know
where they are for now.  Do I need to call a repairman?

  • Problems Importing .jpg Files

    Hi,
When I import .jpg files as a slideshow they have an overall blue cast.  Frequently I get a warning message the "...this type of file cannot be transcoded..."
The files can be opened correctly in Photoshop CS5, iPhoto or Preview.
    System: MacPro (Intel)
    OSX 10.8.2
    Memory 12GB
    Encore CS3.0.1

    Hi,
I have the same camera, and exactly the same problem. Could you solve this issue ?
About images of Pentax cameras looking dark in Aperture, many people mention "if Highlight Correction is enabled, the image is shot at -1 EV exposure compensation, and then everything but the highlights is pushed up in the camera when it makes the JPEG version" -- and thus the solution seems to be to disable this highlight correction. But to me it seems that there is no highlight correction in the k100d super...
Aperture 3 actually clips the histogram (dark pixels turn completely black) with respect to the same PEF file read with the Pentax Photo Lab app or the Gimp. The "Raw Fine Tuning" adjustements do not solve this.

  • HT204370 Why are movies excluded from iCloud?  They are the most expensive purchase from iTunes and just as valuable and important to be able to access anywhere from any device?

They are the most expensive purchase from iTunes and just as valuable and important to be able to access anywhere from any device?  I find it so frustrating that first I had to purchase iWorks for my Mac, then I had to purchase it all over again for my IOS device so I could use iCloud, then I purchase thousands of dollars of movies and am not able to store them in the cloud, yet we have only purchased the rights to the songs no differently than we have the movies.  Why would they exclude movies from icloud?

They are not part of icloud in all countries, becuase the movie industry in those copuntries does not allow Apple to offer this.

  • I cannot import .mov files to Premiere Pro or Adobe Media Encoder.

I cannot import .mov files to Premiere Pro or Adobe Media Encoder.
How do I around this problem?

We need to know a lot more if we're going to help you.
What happens when you try? Do you get an error message? If so, exactly what does it say?
What version of Premiere Pro? Have you installed the recent updates? What operating system?
Does this happen for all .mov files or just some? Has this ever worked before? What version of QuickTime do you have installed?
Here's a page written for After Effects, but the information is relevant to Premiere Pro and AME, too:
