Cannot import my TIFF files

I have lots of problems with IPhoto 6.0.1.
I cannot import my TIFF files.
Any suggestions?

Hello,
I've been doing a lot of experimenting with this problem. You can read about what I have found to work, and what has not worked in the following discussion threads.
I did find one fix (sort of) that I mentioned here:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=365867&tstart=0
If you want to read about the experimenting and trials I have performed, you can read here:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=356679&tstart=0
and here:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=340530&tstart=0
Do your problems sound like the ones I described in the first link above?
If not, which problems are you having?
What OS version are you trying to work with? Panther? Tiger? which specific revision of the OS?
Just trying to see how consistent the problems are.
Anyway, I hope the thoughts expressed in my other postings (in the links above) are helpful.

so I updated to lightroom 3.6-now i cannot import any .nef files? is that what you call progress?

    Hi,
I'm not sure why you think Lightroom 3 will support the D610 as it was only announced on October 8, 2013. Support for the D610 was released in the Lightroom 5.3 RC, see Lightroom 5.3 RC now available on Adobe Labs
If you wish to use you D610 files in Lightroom 3.6 you will need to download the Adobe DNG Converter, convert your NEF to DNG and then import into Lightroom 3.6. The DNG Converter can be downloaded from http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=106&platform=Windows
Or, better option is to upgrade to the current version of Lightroom

I cannot import a Quicktime file (.mov) which I generated from a slide show out of iPhoto8 in iMovie8 (filename is grey); what did I wrong?

iMovie 08 will only import files that contain codecs that it can edit. It will generally import audio and video codecs that iPhoto generates. However, if your iPhoto slideshow contains a manual advance track, iMovie cannot edit this and therefore will not import. In iPhoto, check to see if you can do a timed advance rather than a manual advance. Then it should import.

  • Fireworks CC Will not allow me to open/import any TIFF files

Any time I try to open or import a TIFF file I get an error - "Could not open/import the file. An internal error occured.  I have tried to unistall and reinstall 2 times now and the exact same thing.  I am first opening the file in LR5 then moving to PS CC for fine tuning then if I wanna add text or what not I try to move into fireworks but to no avail.  Any suggestions on what I can do to correct this issue?  Thanks in advance.

If you click on the "down" arrow in the Google search box and then move your cursor to the desired term in search history while still left-clicking on your mouse, and then hold the cursor over the desired search term for a couple of seconds, it works.
Clearly a bug that I hope they will fix.

I am trying to import a 2010 pptx or a ppt ile into Captivate.5.
The error message reads "cannot import the selected file. Refer to the documentation to ensure that you have installed the correct version of Microsoft Office." I am running 2010. What should I do to fix this?

Could you once try to save the PPTX as a PPT-file and see if it will be imported then?

I cannot import my AVCHD files by using log and transfer. I can see all the files, but when I add the file to import que it doesnt work, the status is a red and says that its no data. I have tried with different cards and different cardreaders, but it is still the same. Why?!

Please give us more specific information -
What make/model camcorder are you using?
Are you absolutely certain this is AVCHD video?  Tell us more about the video settings you used in the camcorder (eg, frame size, frame rate, quality level)
Why are you attempting Log & Transfer from a card reader instead of from your camcorder?  Have you tried doing Log & Transfer from your camcorder?
Are the SD cards straight from the camcorder, unaltered, or are you just using the cards as storage?
Are you using FCE 4.0 or FCE 4.0.1?

What is the CODEC in your MOV file(s)? MOV is but a "wrapper," like AVI. This ARTICLE will give you some background. It could be that you just need the proper CODEC, or it could be that it is a Mac-only CODEC, and then you will need for the producer to Export in another CODEC, that is PC-compatible.
This ARTICLE will give you some background on CODEC's, in general.

  • Cannot view TIF, TIFF files,

Just installed Itunes w/quicktime. Now I cannot open any of my TIF or TIFF files that were able to be viewed with Microsoft Picture viewer. Seems to default to Quicktime, but screen is blank. Any ideas?

    Ta again Kirk!
Yeah, after I posted this I remembered about the possibility of Windows file associations, and thought I should have checked on that too. Hadn't got back to do anything about it though.
(On the other hand, I'm pretty sure I've gotten the QuickTime PictureViewer and the QuickTime Player to display tiffs in the past during the course of some testing ... so given that this chap's getting a blank QT screen (of some description) when trying to open the files, I'm wondering if something else might be afoot too.)
I've only got the XP Pro box on hand for a few hours, so I'll have to wait a short while before doublechecking how file association works on a Vista box. Then I'll pop back with instructions. (Or if someone else with a Vista box can drop by with instructions on changing a file association, that would be lovely.)

  • Cannot import .mov video files into Premiere Pro CS4

    Hi Everyone,
I have Premiere Pro CS4 and cannot import .mov files into my project.  When I try Premiere freezes up and has to be closed.  I'm running Windows 7 and have a Gateway DX4300-11 with a Quad-Core AMD processor with 8 Gigs of ram although the Adobe CS4 programs only seem to recognize 4 Gigs at startup.  How do I get Premiere to import .mov files?

  • Cannot import specific MOV file into iMovie. HELP please!

I have been using iMovie for many years and am not a novice.
For some reason, I have a specific MOV file that I cannot import into iMovie 10.0.5.  When I try to import the file, I get an error message:
"No Importable Files: None of the selected files or folders can be imported"
The file is NOT corrupt and plays perfectly in QuickTime. Interestingly, when I try to import the movie in iMovie, it shows 0.0 sec duration, even though it load/plays perfectly in iMovie with a duration of 54:45.  See file A1 below:
I even tried converting the file to M4V in Quicktime, but iMovie would still not import the new M4V file.
Any suggestions?  This is an important Movie, I cannot re-record it, and I need to edit it in iMovie.
    Thanks in advance!

I copied it below.  I would appreciate any suggestions!

  • Cannot import Casio AV1 file to iMovie 08

I cannot import my Casio video clips to iMovie 08 These have AV1 file extension. Is there a download that will enable conversion to a format that works with iMovie 08?
I have downloaded iMovie HD 06. That will accept my AV1 files. But despite clicking on the play icon within the box to the right of the main play icon it will still not play in the full screen mode. I am hoping that if I can get my clips into 08 it will enable full screen playback.

I cannot import my Casio video clips to iMovie 08 These have AV1 file extension.
AVI is a file container. Many Casio digital cameras store their video clips as M-JPEG video (which is compatible with iMovie '08) and DVI ADPCM audio (which is not). You have two basic options:
    1) Extract the audio, convert it, and replace the original audio with the converted audio. This preserves the original video but can be a complicated task for some.
    2) You can simply convert both audio and video content using any compatible converter. This approach is simple and easy but may introduce artifacts to the video.
Is there a download that will enable conversion to a format that works with iMovie 08?
Since the DVI ADPCM audio is "conversion" compatible with QT, as you noted, any QT application that will "accept" it and has conversion capabilities (i.e., like iMovie '06, QT Pro, etc.) can convert it. Other applications (like MPEG Streamclip) which access the QT "structure" or have their own built in codecs (like FFmpegX or Visual Hub) can also easily convert such files.
I am hoping that if I can get my clips into 08 it will enable full screen playback.
As to "Full Screen" playback -- I rarely use it and can't help you there. I use editor programs for editing and media players for viewing.

  • Cannot import an MP4 file?

Hi, I am trying to import an MP4 file into FCP. The file has been ripped from a dvd using handbrake. I have written copyright authorisation from the client (who owns the dvd), to do this as they want to to take 3 chapters from their dvd and encode it for web use.
Two of the chapters came in without issue, but the 3rd one will not import.
FCP error message says. File error, 1 file recognized, 0 access denied, 1 unknown.
Any ideas whats wrong. I have tried it several times using handbrake to no avail.

Thanks chaps you have all been very helpful with your advice. I must admit the only reason i chose to use handbrake was that is was the route recommended by an apple trainer! so I took it as red that handbrake was the tool. Following on from your advice, can I identify a chapter from within the vob list, only I have to find 3, 1 minute clips in a 4hr dual disk of 43 chapters. I only know that what I want is in chapters 23, 29 and 30. Can i somehow point streamclip to the specific file or is this not possible?
Lastly I know that the footage format is down as 1024 x 576 strict. In streamclip I cannot see this aspect ratio. Is it best to bring in in as DV Pal anamorphic or set a custom size of 1024 x 576?
    Thanks again.
    Thanks
    again

  • Cannot import any video files.

I installed CS3 Master Collection, I tried importing a video file into Encore and Premiere Pro and it worked fine. That was 2 days ago, now when I try to import the same video file into either program the 'Import as asset' window pops up as normal but just sits there and does nothing. Then the program comes up with (not responding) and I have to shut it down. I have not changed or installed anything new on my machine.
    Machine Spec:
    Vista Ultimate 64 (fully updated).

    4 gig OCZ DDR2 PC8400.
    Gigabyte P35C-DS3R.
    Nvidia BFG 8800GTS.
Creative X-Fi Extreme Music sound card.
I have since uninstalled CS3 and reinstalled it and I am still experiencing the same problem. I can import any other type of file (images, audio etc) I am only having this problem with video files.
    Any suggestions?

Keep in mind that Vista is good enough to boot your computer, loads a bealtyful GUI, wallpaper loads and mounts the desktop icons. After that the computer works fine. The clock is ticking on the side bar, pictures changes on the middle of this bar, some another gadgets loads and so on . After short period of time, the screen saver starts. Wow vista works great! This is all that vista is capable of. Our problems with vista begins when we click in something. Believe me, i have 26 years of experience with computers. Downgrade to XP64. Your CS3 will work without problems. I have a computer with quad core, 16Gbytes of 667RAM, quadro board, and even in this monster Vista do not works with a long sort of problems. After the downgrade, my problems dissapear. CS3 works very well.
