Cannot import photos to iphoto or aperture directly from android

When I connect my android phone to my macbook pro, I can see the volume and browse just fine using finder. However, when I try to import from iphoto or aperture, no images are displayed. I can see my android device listed, just no items listed to import.
I can copy images to a folder on my hard drive, then import them. But that is a pain. Please help!
I have an HTC G2 with android 2.3, and Lion installed on my macbook pro.

  • Cannot import photos into iPhoto - Unreadable format????

When I try to import photos from my Original iPhone to iPhoto (software 3.1.3) I receive an error message that says :
    Unreadable format:
The following files could not be imported. (The file is an unrecognized format.)
    IMG_0279.JPG
And lists all file names. I have imported pics from the phone many times in the past with no issues.
Please help! I really want to import these pics.

Thank you for your advice. I tried image capture and it will not import either. I know that I can email myself the photos and that is fine. My concern is that not one photo will import. I just took a new one to test. So I guess there is an issue with my phone or camera.

  • TS1501 Image Capture does not launch when I connect my iPhone to my iMac and open iPhoto. No "Prefernces" is offered under Image Capture.  I cannot import photos to iPhoto.

Can't import photos from iPhone to iPhoto.  Image Capture does not launch when iPhone is connected to my iMac and iPhoto is open.  There is no "Preferences" option offered to click when in Image Capture.

This helped me. It is advice I found from a user named Carlosmara. First make sure iPhoto is closed and your iPhone is not connected. Then, as Carlosmara stated in his post,
"Go to your Library/preferences and delete the file com.apple.iPhoto.plist
IPhoto should recognized the iPhone again."
The file in question is under your user folder.
I then restarted my mac and plugged in the iPhone so that it would sync. After the sync, when I opened iPhoto, my iPhone was recognized and I could download the photos perfectly.
Hopefully this will help you as it helped me

  • Cannot import photos to iPhoto

    Hi, everyone!
I am experiencing iPhoto unexpectedly quitting for a long time. Each time I plug in my iPhone 5s and it will read my photos. It can read all my photos from the process bar. However, it will go to furher processing before I can do any uploading work. After waiting for a long time (about 10 min), it will suddenly quits. And the problem has lated for half month. I tried other iPhone with my pro, it doesn't show the same problem and I also tried to connect my 5s with other mac it also works fine. Only connecting my 5s with my mac pro, the problem appears.
I have successfully uploaded photos from 5s to this pro, from half month before, it suddenly fails every time. Feels really sad:(
My iphone has a lot of photos (about 30,000). Does it will affect the processing? I see someone saying to clear the caches. But I did not see any caches I can clear. I also tried to restart my iPhone and my mac pro. Nothing helpsTT Is there anyone experiencing the same problem?
    Do u have the solutions?
Really appreciated if you can help! Because I found rather troublesome to use the image capture. Because it cannot separate the photos by date automatically>< I want to import my photos to MBP and to release some storage in my iphone!

  • Cannot import photos into iPhoto

I can't get my .jpg files to import into iTunes. Everytime I try to import one it says "The following files could not be imported (they may be an unrecognized file type or the files may not contain Valid data).

    Hi Lori,
I am having the same (i think) problem as el pinguino. With many of the photos I have on CD's I am getting this error for most of the photos... iphoto will usually import a few of the photos. I tried dragging onto the desk top first, but an error came up saying "you cannot copy 'name of file i'm trying to copy' to the destination because its name is the same as the name of an item on the destination, except for the case of some characters." Do you have any thoughts on how I might deal with this? Or does anyone else?

  • Cannot import photos to iphoto because it says there was an error downloading an image.

I cannot access my photos through image capture either. I'm trying to import from my iphone 5 with the latest update to a macbook running on 10.6.8.

if neither iPhoto nor Image Capture can import from your iPhone, the problem may be with the iPhone. Is the iPhone properly charged? Are you using the original cable?
    Restart or reset the iPhone:
See this page:  restart your device  http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
    reset your device
Try to transfer one of the photos by Wi-Fi - put it into a Dropbox or use the Photo Stream. Then you can try, if iPhoto can open the transfered photo, and you can check, if the photos are problematic -wrong color profile or something.

  • Trouble importing photos to iPhoto 6.0.4 from Canon PowerShot S410

I have never really used iPhoto before, and decided to try it. I hooked up my camera properly, using the USB cable that came with it, and iPhoto said, "Ready to import 110 items." I gave the 'roll' a name and some comments, and hit 'import.' After a bit of a wait, I got an error saying, 'Unreadable Files: 110 The following files could not be imported (they may be an unrecognized file type or the files may not contain valid data)' and a window listing all of the photos currently on my camera.
I checked the camera model on the 'compatible models' list [ http://www.apple.com/macosx/upgrade/cameras.html ], and it's there. The only support article I could find was for iPhoto 2 [ http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93275 ], and clearly didn't apply to my problem, because the files are definitely photos and there are over 28 GB available on my hard drive.
I can go back to using the other apps I've been using, but would like to try iPhoto, because it works so well with other apps on my new computer, such as iWork, etc. Any suggestions?

    Nena_nieve:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Try using Image Capture, located in your Applications folder, to manually upload the photos to a folder on the Desktop. Then see if the files will import form there. If not then there's some format issue possibly.
Do you have any video clips in the camera that you took? Or any voice annotations that you made for the photos? They could have triggered the failure to import but shouldn't have.
See how the manual upload goes and report back. You do not need any driver for the camera. It's build into OS X.

I've just upgraded to Iphoto v9.4.1 and cannot import photos from my hard drive. no matter what method I use, either click and drag or through the File menu. All I get is a message 'Preparing to import' - file size is less than 300 kb

Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

Yes, I did solved the problem. It was not with iPhoto but with the iTunes. Once I delete my phone profile all worked. I did not write the steps down but if you do it please post it here.

i was backing up my iPhone and importing photos onto iPhoto at the same time , then suddenly it says no more space available (i had 48GB before i do this and now i have 18GB) i can't find the back up or the photo anywhere , how can i delete them ? i dont need the pictures or the back ups , i want to delete them but they are not there

Empty the Trash if you haven't already done so. If you use iPhoto, empty its internal Trash first:
    iPhoto ▹ Empty Trash
Do the same in other applications, such as Aperture, that have an internal Trash feature. Then reboot. That will temporarily free up some space.
According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of available space on the startup volume (as shown in the Finder Info window) for normal operation. You also need enough space left over to allow for growth of the data. There is little or no performance advantage to having more available space than the minimum Apple recommends. Available storage space that you'll never use is wasted space.
When Time Machine backs up a portable Mac, some of the free space will be used to make local snapshots, which are backup copies of recently deleted files. The space occupied by local snapshots is reported as available by the Finder, and should be considered as such. In the Storage display of System Information, local snapshots are shown asBackups. The snapshots are automatically deleted when they expire or when free space falls below a certain level. You ordinarily don't need to, and should not, delete local snapshots yourself. If you followed bad advice to disable local snapshots by running a shell command, you may have ended up with a lot of data in the Other category. Reboot and it should go away.
See this support article for some simple ways to free up storage space.
You can more effectively use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper (ODS) to explore the volume and find out what's taking up the space. You can also delete files with it, but don't do that unless you're sure that you know what you're deleting and that all data is safely backed up. That means you have multiple backups, not just one.
Deleting files inside an iPhoto or Aperture library will corrupt the library. Any changes to a photo library must be made from within the application that created it. The same goes for Mail files.
Proceed further only if the problem isn't solved by the above steps.
ODS can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you have to run it as root.
    Back up all data now.
If you have more than one user account, make sure you're logged in as an administrator. The administrator account is the one that was created automatically when you first set up the computer.
Install ODS in the Applications folder as usual. Quit it if it's running.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    sudo /Applications/OmniDiskSweeper.app/Contents/MacOS/OmniDiskSweeper
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The application window will open, eventually showing all files in all folders, sorted by size with the largest at the top. It may take a few minutes for ODS to finish scanning.
I don't recommend that you make a habit of doing this. Don't delete anything while running ODS as root. If something needs to be deleted, make sure you know what it is and how it got there, and then delete it by other, safer, means. When in doubt, leave it alone or ask for guidance.
When you're done with ODS, quit it and also quit Terminal.

  • Alternative way to import photos to iPhoto?

    hello,
is there a way to import photos into iPhoto without opening iPhoto? i tried dragging a photo to my iPhoto folder, but afterwards that photo didn't appear in iPhoto.
Overall, it takes a long time to open the iPhoto app. and i wanted to know of a another way i can organize my photos w/o using the iPhoto app. i'm begining to think that the Windows way of keeping photos is more convenient.

    Jason,
The one thing you can't do is put things in the iPhoto library folder from the Finder. It is very important that you read this
Don't Tamper with the iPhoto Library Folder
As you have already experienced, iPhoto won't know that you put it there.
I think that you can drag a photo to the icon on the dock, but that in turn will open iPhoto.
Mail app will let you save attached images directly into iPhoto if that is where your images are coming from.
I know you want to do it without opening iPhoto, but there really is no other way. You can drag it to the open iPhoto window. Or you can use the "Add to library" menu command as long as the photo originates from anywhere
    b but
    the iPhoto library folder.
You have to understand that iPhoto is a data based system. Everything has to be done through the iPhoto app and it takes care of all the filing. Its different from the windoze way, but once you let go of the old way you will find this more convenient and easier than managing a file tree.
How long does it take to open iPhoto?
