Cannot import swf files of flash player 8 into director
Since I upgraded to Flash 8 the swf files generated canot be
seen in Macromedia Director unless I am saving them as Flash 7. I
have updated both Flash and Director and the problem is persistent,
please help.
ANY SUGGESTIONS PLEASE
I suggest there's no need to shout.
Try linking the Director cast member to the external swf file instead of fully importing it. You also should have the 10.1.1 update in place - this is particularly important.

Saving a swf-file for flash player older than 10.3 in Flash CC
Hi,
I am working with Flash CC and need to save my swf-files for Flash Player older than 10.3.
Is there any chance to do so?
Besides working with CS6 again ;-)
Thanks for every help!In the meantime I found a very good answer myself.

Link .swf files to Flash Player
Hello,
I have recently noticed that my .swf files are not opening with flash player. I installed flash and it does not open .swf by default.
I also tried to open these files with the .dll file that runs the Flash Player but it does not work.
Is there someone that could help me to open by default .swf files with Flash Player?
Thank you,

Actions not working to imported swf files in Flash Catalyst
Hi,
I have a problem with manipulating my imported swf files (created in Flash professional) in Flash Catalyst CS5. Whenever I add any of the swf control actions to a swf file in the timeline such as 'stop', the animation ignores it and keeps replaying. I tried to add action sequence when a certain button is pressed, and also tried to create 'On application Start' and added 'stop' so that the animation stops immediately when the application opens. No matter what I do, the animation refuses to perform the actions and simply replays. The animation is a simple shape tween between 2 states with no action script attached to it. I published the animation as an swf and exported it to Flash Catalyst. Is there any suggestions whatsoever on why this is happening? Is it something to do with setting up my flash file prior to import? The only way I figured out to stop the animation from playing is adding action script to the flash file in Flash Professional however this is not what I want because I would like the animation to be controlled by components in my flash Catalyst document.
ThanksYou can make you swf a custom component with 2 states.
The first state will be empty and rename it "OFF" the second state will have your swf file and name it ON.
Then go back to your artboard/project, add your 2 buttons ON & OFF.
For the ON button add interaction "play transition to custom component ON"
For the OFF button add interaction "play transition to custom component OFF"
Here is an example swf_control -
Quite a few people said that they cannot see my movie clip
swf file on their browser even I asked them to go to Flash player
download center and install the latest flash player.
I made this file with Flash 8.
I have read a little bit something about the stand alone
player which call projector.
Can anybody tell me why people cannot see my file even they
installed the flash player 9 and also how can I study about stand
alone something which I have no idea at all?
My website is www. theartoftaichi.co.uk. The swf file is the
black and white ball in the center of the first page .Thank you very much for your message.
But 50% of viewer can open it but others cannot see it even
they downloaded the Flash player 9.
I wonder if I am asking them to download the wrong Flash
player. -
Opening an .swf file with flash player

You should be able to use very similar code - buy instead of
pointing to the
swf directly, it's likely you need to point, instead, to the
html file that
is usually published with the swf.
Without seeing the exact code you are talking about with
DemoShield, I'm
reluctant to offer you any alternative. Simply put, a
standard link pointing
to the correct html file should work. You can get clever and
use JavaScript
if you have specific needs, but the standard HTML link should
be fine for
your needs.
Oh - maybe you should look at Captivate's Manu builder, as
perhaps this will
offer what you are looking for.

Problem loading swf file in flash player 9.0.47.0
Hi all!
I have a really strange problem and couldn't find any information over the internet.
The problem only occurs in flash player 9.0.47.0. It works in all the others players, newer and older..
I try to load a swf file to my web application and get the following error: "This content requires Adobe Flash Player 10.2. Would you like to install it now?"
the log file shows:

Downloading .swf files-standalone Flash player
I have the most recent Adobe Reader X, and I have no problem playing .swf files on a browser. However, I am trying to download a .swf file onto my computer and play it with Adobe Reader X.
The people on the site that has the .swf file say that I need a standalone Flash player. What I need is a link to this standalone Flash player so I can open the .swf file without the use of my browser.
A little more info: When I try to open the .swf file, it says:
"Adobe Reader could not open 'FileName.swf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded)."
I have tried to do this on Chrome and Firefox using Windows 7 and tried it on a Mac with Safari and Camino; I get the same result each time.
Many thanks for any info, and especially the standalone Flash player, that you can give me. If I should move this thread to the Flash Player section, just let me know. The standalone Flash Player (Projector) can be downloaded from http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html
Note that the download is the player, not an installer, so you'll need to make the file association manually. -
I have a SWF File that I got from another computer so when I open it in Adobe Flash CS5 I get the output error:
Error opening URL 'file:///media/flash/360/image.jpg'
Clearly it is trying to open the image from that location that no longer exists on this computer.
How am I able to change this path in the SWF file to a new path so that it will load these images?? I tried replicating this path on my macbook but was unable as "Users" was automatically added after file like so: file:///Users...Thanks for your reply.
The issue not related to AS 2, application running on flash player 10.3 in all browsers but updated flash player 11.1 getting problem.
"AS 2 code .SWF file run on Flash Player 11.1.102.55". this is true/false ?
please guide me about this issue.
sorry about my english. -
HREF to open Captivate swf file with Flash Player
Hello all,
I am new to the Captivate world as well as the new window
options within html code.
Currently I am using Captivate to re-create and update a
DemoShield CBT and woudl like to call the .swf file the same way
the DemoShiled file is called within the HTML. The DemoSheild file
is called using a javascript function within a href tag.
Is it possible to do the same with Captivate files? Create a
link that will open a new browser window with the .swf being played
by flash player? (similar to simply double clicking the file within
the folder).> I am new to the Captivate world as well as the new

Cannot import .mov files (from JVC HM100) into After Effects CS6
Hi,
I am trying to import .mov files into After Effects CS6. Unfortunately, when I try to import the .mov files, AE tells me "After Effects error: 210_0001_01.mov cannot be imported -- this '.mov' file is damaged or unsupported." The file works in Premiere CS6. I have the latest Quicktime, and even with Quicktime 7 Pro installed, I got that same result. I would appreciate any advice on this problem.
Thank you.RobertHorn2012 wrote:
I'm going to set up a new sequence with just the clip I'm using after effects on. I'm going to import that sequence into AE.
Your footage is currently a long-gop codec, which may be giving Mocha fits. So instead of Dynamic Link, you may want to simply export the clip in question from Premiere using a lossless codec. Remember to leave handles on the footage.
To get back to Premiere you would then render in a lossless codec. It's not very handy, but it will get the job done.
Give it a try and see what happens. -
Differences between the 2 ways to play local swf files in flash player
There are 2 ways to allow the flash player to play local swf files:
Add the directory/file of the swf to the Global Flash Player Trust directory. http://help.adobe.com/en_US/ActionScript/3.0_ProgrammingAS3/WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d118a9 b90204-7c95.html
Add the directory/file of the swf to the Trusted Location Settings in the Local Settings Manager.http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashPlayer/LSM/WS6aa5ec234ff3f285139dc56112e3786b68c-7ff0.htm l#WS6aa5ec234ff3f285139dc56112e3786b68c-7fea
Adobe doesn't mentioned in the document what's the differences between these 2 methods, and they look has the same effect. But when I'm doing it on OS X, Safari 6.1, the first method doesn't work (It was working when I was using Safari 6.0). And then I tried method 2, it works…
So I'd like to ask what are the differences between these 2 methods to play local swf files? For playing local SWF files, Download the Macintosh Flash Player 11.9 Projector
It's a standalone app. Just copy it to your Applications folder. Launch it, and drag the SWF to the Dock icon. It'll play. -

Trouble Import Flash MX into Director MX
Hi I am newbie.
I had made a flash mx movie named main.swf. In this flash, i
put a movieclip that loads a video named video.flv from a folder
named Video.
If i run my swf (with flash player), it works. I mean, the
video is loaded.
But the problem is, when i import that main.swf to director
MX (I choose Link as external file), and I run the director, the
video is not loaded. The main.swf file is appear, but the movie
clip which load the video,
didnt appear.
Did i miss something? i put the dir file, eg tes.dir, and its
projector (tes.exe) in one folder with main.swf. So in that folder,
there are tes.dir, tes.exe, main.swf and a folder Video which
contains video.flv.
didnt appear
Please help me...> I am running MX 2004 and am experiencing the same
problems with my swf files when loading them into director. Maybe I
am just missing a step.
It's difficult to know, since you didn't answer any of my
other questions.
Have either/both of you installed the 10.1.1 update that
provides Flash
8 support? <

Can I import a swf file (created in FC) into Flash?
Can I import a swf file (created in FC) into Flash?
...also, do you need Flash Player 10 to play these files?Just did some testing here, and Flash Professional definitely does not like Catalyst projects. Importing to the stage failed silently (gotta love that), while Import to Library appeared to work - I got a MovieClip in my library. However, the clip is empty. I'd guess it is as Chris said, having to do with the fundamental differences in the Flex framework from the way Flash Pro works.
As this did spark my curiosity, I decided to give loading the Catalyst-created project into a Flash Pro project at runtime using ActionScript. I was able to at least get the Catalyst content to appear through this method, but the effects (in this case, a simply button with a Rotate3D effect applied) was a mess.
So the simple answer is "no".
