Cannot import video and audio

cannot import video with audio
can import audio but with no video

Are you using FCP for the first time?
Have you ever had files that imported correctly?
What format are the files you're importing and where did they come from?
What are your system specs?

  • Import video and audio from a dvd into FCP

Is there an easier way to import video and audio into Final Cut Pro - I am playing it on a DVD player and making a digital tape of it. Then logging and capturing it into FCP.

Hello and welcome to the forum!
Yes, there are a few ways that are faster. Have a look at this thread http://discussions.apple.com/click.jspa?searchID=-1&messageID=3465691
You could use software, such as "streamclip", or import by plugging your camera into your capture device and hooking your capture device into your computer and capturing by non-controllable device settings.
    Good Luck

  • How to I import video AND audio from DVD ?

I have been sent a DVD on a holiday from a friend. I want to edit this. When I try to import it into iMovie I can import the VTS0104.VOB file, but this gives me just the images and NO sound. How can I get the sound too?

There is another way of importing DVD footage into iMovie 08 directly, without using any third party software, but you have to trick iMovie into thinking that it is not a DVD. I had hours of home video footage from my old 8 mm camcorder which i recorded on DVD's, and from here succesfully imported into iMovie. Both video and sound.
    Try this:
    1. Insert your DVD and quit DVD Player, when it pops up.
    2. Open Disk Utility (Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility). Select the DVD inserted, and click on "New Image" (on the toolbar). Save the disk image to a convenient location (eg. desktop).
    3. Mount the disk image -> Double click on the file, or select open with "DiskImageMounter")
    4. Open iMovie 08., .... and "Camera detected, scanning content ... " message will appear. Happy editing!
I believe Apple does not advertise this iMovie feature, because of potential copyright issues, ... but importing from home made DVD's has nothing to do with it. I wish Apple will come to realize that, and make our life much easier. Certainly, there is a way to tell the difference between DRM protected and home made DVD's.
    Cheers!

  • Imported Video and Audio not sync

Hi. Im new to a mac, and have imported all my old files over, having a problem with some video...
I imported several videos into iMovie. The first group, some vacation movies, are fine. The next group, which was more movies and much longer, has had problems. About the first half of the video is fine, but the 2nd half will not work properly. originally it would play the audio but no video, just black. now, after remove some other videos from the same area, it will show the picture in the little box on the bottom, or on the top if I put it up into the project, and plays the correct audio, but the video will both up top and in the little box for that section of movie is from one of the earlier clips that was working on its own.
any ideas how to fix this?

So I just solved the issue, partially...I was able to use iPhoto to import the movies that were having the problem, so I can view them again. I still cant load them all up in iMovie, it has the same problem.

  • General questions about imported video and audio clips

Hey guys. I'm a new Apple convert so forgive me if I ask extremely stupid questions.
    1. If I import a video file that has audio in it, am I able to separate the audio from the video? I want to edit in pictures over some of the video but keep the audio playing over it. Is this possible in FCE?
    2. I've started a project on FCE and I can't hear the audio from an mp3 file I downloaded. I know I have to convert it to an AIFF file (which I thought I did, at 16bits), but I still can't hear it. Is there something I'm missing?
    Thanks for the help guys!

Thanks for the reply. As to my first question, I assume then when I import a video clip with audio on it, FCE will automatically split the two?
As to my second question, thanks for the link, but I already tried it and still no audio. Is there something I need to fix in the playback? I'm still not clear on what the RT tab does. Maybe it's something with that?

  • Import video and audio sync

  • Cannot preview videos and audio files

I have Adobe Bridge cs3 2.1.1.9 and Version Cue cs3 3.1 installed and I am unable to preview my video files. Also, I am having trouble with playback of .wav files as well. I have tested the .wav files with a media info software and it told me that I do not need any additional codecs for its playback, but still I cannot play them on any of my players.
I still think the .wav problem might be codec related or some other issue after the same fashion, but I believe the "movie files can't preview on bridge" is some sort of stupid setting I just can't seem to find (specially because all of them play on their default players).
Any thoughts would be most helpful.
    Tnx in advance.

In the past I have seen posts where Quicktime and Bridge had conflicts. Update Quicktime to latest version and see if that solves problem.

  • My Video and Audio are not syncing up after importing

I am trying to edit a few Ipad Clips in premier pro.  My video and audio are not syncing.  They are .mov lower resolution from the ipad.  The original audio is fine - but after I put in a sequence the audio is off a few seconds (ahead).  I did not add any affects or change anything.  Please advise?
Thanks for any help in advance.
    Allison

Premiere does not work well with variable frame rate video which, I expect, the ipad produces, You might have to convert the footage before you import it into Premiere. Do a forum search for variable frame rate, there are a lot of posts.

  • Import video, unsyncs video and audio

I imported video into after effec4ts. The video in a media player runs at 1min 8 seconds... in after effects it runs 1 min 11 seconds... the audio plays for the 1 min and 8 seconds, but the video is slowed down slightly and drags on for the other 3 seconds, causing the video and audio to be out of sync...  What can i do to fix this? im running cs5.5

If the file is correctly interpreted then try dragging your video onto the Create New Compositon icon at the bottom of the project panel, to create a composition with the exact same settings as your clip:

  • Video and audio goes out of sync when imported into Premiere

I have some videos ripped from some DVD that an acquaintance made, with an open source program called HandBrake, with the default "high profile" settings. When I play it both in VLC and in Quicktime, it plays just fine, but when I import it either in Premiere or in After effects, the video and audio goes out of sync (the video ran faster than the audio and when the video stops, the missing audio is trimmed).
Video info according to Premiere (in Spanish but you may get the meaning).

"HandBrake, these days, is almost entirely about H.264 video, aka MPEG-4 Part 10.  HandBrake is migrating to quality-based encoding."
Hmmm.  I use HC Encoder to make my DVDs because it's the only free encoder I've found with the much more professional Constant Q encoding option.  But HC Encoder doesn't do HD sources for Blu-ray, so I've been wondering if I'd be stuck with the lame-*** consumer CBR and VBR options most encoders provide (including Adobe - hint, hint) when I eventually start working in HD.  This is a very interesting program, Handbrake.  I will have to check it out.

  • I am trying to import video and the audio doesn't upload with the video. Help.

I am trying to import video and the audio doesn't upload with the video. Help.
I upgraded to iMovie 11 because the previous version wouldn't read the type of video I was importing (VOB).  The video imports but not the audio, what do I do?

What are you capturing from?  You may not hear the auido as it's captured but it will be there.  After it's captured can you see the audio waveforms? Do the audio meters move when you play the clip?  If so then go to "View" then "Audio Playback"  and set it to 'Built-in Output" if you're monitoring audio through the computer.

  • Video and audio tracks not synchronized after importing

When I try to watch a video in quicktime or itunes video and audio tracks not synchronized. If I wach on another player they are synced. Anyone help?

    John:
Thanks for your reply.  Excuse my referring to you as "Kevin".  I'm new to the Adobe Community.  I have also referenced another article which is seemingly a bit easier to fix for such a non-technical woman like myself.  I'm going to try both solutions.  Whichever works I'll be sure to reply to the thread with my findings.  I found this article which provides the following solution:  http://blog.flickharrison.com/2012/04/problem-solving-in-adobe-premiere-audio-glitches-and -sync/

  • Video and audio formats for iPad

Hey, guys.. I've tried searching this up in the forum but didn't have any luck with that..
I can't seem to upload my movies and songs into iPad... I tried converting my movie into .mov and .mp4. They can both be imported into my iTunes library but when I drag it to the iPad tab it says it cannot be copied because it cannot be played on the iPad. And some of my albums just can't be imported.
May I know the preferred format for my movies and my songs? And what could be the problem with my importing..
    Thanks heaps.

Here are the spec for video and audio for the iPad:
H.264 video up to 720p, 30 frames per second, Main Profile level 3.1 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps per channel, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; Motion JPEG (M-JPEG) up to 35 Mbps, 1280 by 720 pixels, 30 frames per second, audio in ulaw, PCM stereo audio in .avi file format

  • How to link video and audio channels of multiple clips

Importing iMovie08 sequence via XML ends up with unlinked video and audio channel (only one of the stereo channels; see other post).
It is possible to link each clips audio and video track individualy.
Is there a way to do it in batch mode for all the clips in de timeline??

    1. After selecting the in points on main audio and one of two video tracks, the "merge clips" is greyed. Yes,in case you're wondering, the audio is on the HD.
Your use of language is confusing me I'm afraid. You opened the AIFF file and set an IN then opened a QuickTime movie and set and IN and then with them both selected in the Browser (and the Browser the active window) that you cannot select Modify->Merge Clips... ?
I wasn't wondering anything about your audio, but now I'm wondering "What does 'the audio is on the HD' mean?"
    2. The other issue is that the starting point is silent, so the only I know how to find the actual beginning is by counting frames back from the first sound. Is that what I have to do? Is would seem to me that there must be a "marker" that's not and "in" or "out" that will allow me to merge the tracks. No?
If you set an IN point in two clips you can merge them using the Merge Clips... command with the in points option. The IN points you choose can be anywhere and for anything. They can be where the clapper hits and sounds, they can be where a drum stick hits a cymbal, they can be where someone is clapping, they can be where a body falls from a building onto the sidewalk... Anything that helps you sync the sound with picture.
