Cannot Import Video made with iMovie for iPhone/iPod Touch

I edited a video on my iPod touch using Apple's iMovie. The resulting .MOV file that iMovie creates will not import into iPhoto '11. While iMovie recognises the file just fine, iPhoto believes it is an unsupported file type. It's a .MOV for goodness sakes created with Apple's own hardware and program! Very strange. Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience.

Hey there. In answer to your question, all other clips that appear in my camera roll are easily seen by iPhoto. It is only those movies that I have created with iMovie for iPhone that iPhoto does not recognize. It's really strange, considering the fact that it's just a .MOV file. As a result, I've had to download a program called 'DiskAid' that allows me to transfer the .MOV file directly to my computer from the iPod Touch.
In answer to your question regarding whether or not iMovie for iPhone was worth downloading, I would have to say yes (assuming of course the import-to-iPhoto problem gets fixed). It's not a perfect program. My biggest complaint is that you have to import clips ONE at a time. There's no 'import all' option. This is really time consuming as you have to cycle through all the videos on your iPod or iPhone and manually tap each one and repeat. My dad likes to take a lot of 1-minute videos that then have to get spliced together and that can be really tedious with how this iMovie is currently set up. However, if you regularly think to add your clips to an existing project as you go along, things should be fine. It could do with a few more features and faster rendering times, but on the whole, it's a decent program. I have a feeling, though, that it was designed more for the YouTube generation who want to upload a five-minute video instead of people like my father and I who like to edit an hour or so and then eventually burn to a DVD. iMovie for the Mac still CERTAINLY has it's place.

  • Hyperlinks with Keynote for iPhone/iPod Touch

    Hello, everyone. I bought Keynote hoping to use it to make classroom presentations with my iPod Touch, Apple's VGA adapter cord, and a projector. Although Keynote presentations show up through the projector through the VGA cord, it is not possible in Keynote's full-screen mode to activate any of the presentation's hyperlinks. On the iPod Touch alone (w/o VGA cord), a double-tap on a hyperlink opens it up in Safari. But this is of little use because A) without VGA adapter, no public presentation at all, and B) Safari on iOS is not (yet) compatible with the VGA adapter anyway.
    Does anyone know of a way around this problem? Or how to lobby Apple to modify Keynote to allow for easy hyperlink triggers within a presentation, and to modify Safari to be compatible with the VGA adapter (or allowing the user to set an adapter-friendly browser as the default one for hyperlinks in Keynote)?
    Thanks.

  • This version of iMovie cannot import Trailers created in iMovie for iOS.

    I have the latest verison of iMovie on both my Mac and iPad 3g. I used a trailer on the iPad iMovie and exported it to iTunes. On my Mac I went to iTunes and pulled the file down and clicked to open it. After iMovie can up it dispalyed "This version of iMovie cannot import Trailers created in iMovie for iOS."
    How can this be?

    I'm having the same problem.  I've check the instructions for exporting a Movie trailer that can be found in iMovie for iOS 6 and have followed them to a tee, numerous times.  Each time i export a trailer i've created using the iPad, i can easily save it to my MacBookPro.  But iMove on my laptop refuses to import a movie with the suffix ".iMoveTrailer", which is what you get in iMove for iOS6 when you export and use iTunes in Mac OS to save the file.  How strange?  There must be someting wrong going on here.  Anyoner have any thoughts?  I'm just trying to save an iMove trailer from the iPad and would like to burn it to a DVD to give to friends.  Hmmmm.....

  • Slowing down or expanding a video clip in iMovie for iPhone 4

    Is there a way to expand a short video clip in iMovie for iPhone 4? I can expand a still image, but not a video clip. I would like to take a video clip that lasts 2 seconds and expand it to 15 seconds or longer. The video clip could be slowed down.
    I can do this with still images, so I would think I would be able to do this with video clips. For example, when I insert a still image it defaults to 2 seconds with the ken burns effect. I can then expand or shorten the still image to last as long as I want (from 2 seconds to 10 seconds, for example). However, when I insert a short video clip I am not given that option. When I grab the crop button and try to expand the video clip it stops at the end of the clip.
    Any suggestions?

    Thanks Joe, hopefully Apple adds this feature to iMovie soon.

  • Best database format for iPhone / iPod Touch Application?

    Hello Adobe Community, I hope you can help me again with this one:
    I plan to develop an iPhone / iPod Touch application that reads from an offline database (basically a big list of text data). Which format should / could I use? XML? Any other? And how would the XML be embedded / included in the App?
    Thank you very much in advance!
    Best regards,
    Chico

    Hi Alex, thanks for replying - I was hoping you would!
    Are you sure about that? It has been said that it is not possible, here: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/533885?tstart=0
    Also, would you have a specific link to some example / tutorial / documentation where it works with Flash?
    Finally, are you being specific about the upcoming cs5, or would it work on (current) cs4?
    Thanks a ton!

  • Cannot import video edited on imovie app

    Please help, im a pc user trying to import a video I have edited using imovie, i have exported it to my camera roll but it will not import when I use picasa or any other way you can import using a mass storage device on a pc, Ive tried everything, dragging and dropping from my computer. Any ideas??? by the way this is happening with two different iphones I own. cannot import any video edited with imovie

    I believe the only way you can share a movie edited with iMovie on your phone is:
    * Email
    * MMS (multimedia message)
    * YouTube
    * MobileMe Gallery
    If on a Mac, you can export your finished movies to the Camera Roll and then bring them into iMovie on your Mac.

  • A video made with Motion for your viewing

    I haven't seen many people post videos that they've made in this forum, so I hope it's not too self-promotional to do so. I regularly check the iWeb forums, and over there people regularly post samples of their work, which I think is good, cause I can get some ideas from this.
    Well, I made this video entirely using Motion, so I thought people here might be interested. If you're a Motion user, it's pretty obvious what the effects are: ie. particle emitter, orbit around object, zooms, replicator, etc ...
    The video is called "The Future is China". Made for an online video contest with a "future" theme. The video is a spoof, so please don't take it too seriously (the US-China relations issue can be a fairly hot issue, I know). Anyway, here it is:
    http://one.revver.com/watch/133243
    I'd say I'm still in the latter stages of being a novice at this sort of thing, so I will be receptive to tips if you have any.

  • Please support wifi sync with itunes for iphone and touch

    Why not syncing using Wifi for iphone, touch and Macs to keep libraries and devices in sync?
    Bye Marco

    This really isn't the best place to give Apple feedback. It is suggested you go through the appropriate channels, and in this case that would be via the iTunes Feedback Page.

  • Exporting video made with imovie to anyplace

    I know this must be simple, but after literally 5-6 hours trouble shooting, I must cry "Uncle" and see if anyone can help.
    I created several simple videos in imovie. I've only been able to export 20 seconds of the first one. Somehow I managed to move 5 frames from the whole video to the top window. Those are the only frames I've been able to export. By now, I've probably made 10 videos trying to get what I want. I now have one that I'd really like to share. No matter what I highlight or how I share, I always get 20 seconds of that first video. What am I doing wrong? I know it must be something simple.
    I don't know how to tell you which OS I've got, but I just got my Mac in October, if that helps.
    I'd so appreciate someone helping me.

    No matter what I highlight or how I share, I always get 20 seconds of that first video. What am I doing wrong?
    Only projects (content in the "upper" window) can be shared/exported. If you've "made 10 videos" in the "lower" window, then they are nor "projects" and cannot be shared/exported.

  • IPhone/iPod Touch browser support

    Probably not the right place to post but...
    I get a pop up in Safari on an iPod Touch saying I have an unsupported browser. IE 7, Firefox, etc are supported. The project is using ADF components.
    Web pages do work in Google's Chrome.
    Where do I adjust for/add the target browser in JDev/WebLogic ?

    Hi,
    The support for iPhone/iPod Touch Safari is in ADF Mobile, which as Shay pointed out requires the use of the Trinidad library. A view project intended for ADF Mobile cannot contain any reference to ADF Faces components. The general steps for creating an ADF Mobile application is as follows:
    1. Define your model project as usual, or simply re-use the same model project or application as your ADF Faces app.
    2. Create a new project - select a generic project. When prompted for project technology, select just "Mobile". This would bring over the necessary libraries for ADF Mobile, but nothing else.
    3. Create page flows and views as you would for any JSF application. You can use any Trinidad component available in the component palette.
    The tutorial for creating a simple mobile app is at: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/11/cuecards/adf_set_51/ccset51_ALL.html
    The short demo for creating a mobile app is at: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/viewlets/viewlet.html
    Developer Guide for ADF Mobile also contains useful information, which is in the documentation area of ADF/JDeveloper.
    Lastly, there is a sample application that contains a number of optimizations for smartphone browsers, including specific optimizations for iPhone. You can download the sample file at: http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/wireless/adfm_new.zip. This sample app is designed to work with Fusion Order Demo. You can try to follow the tutorial above, and then use this project as a sample to enhance you app.

  • When will Siri be available for the iPod Touch and the iPad?

    When will Siri be available for the iPod Touch and the iPad? Really wish Siri would be expanded to other high end Apple devises like the iPod Touch 4th generation and the new iPad instead of it just being iPhone 4S exclusive. That's such a cool feature!

    Well.. Me and one of my good friends both have iPod Touch 4th gen 32gb's and my friend read on the Technobuffalo website that IOS 5.1 was suppose to come with Siri for the iPod touch and probably the iPad and I updated my iPod 4th gen to IOS 5.1 and it still doesn't have Siri !
