After I pressed "shift+control+space", handwritten and select the desired Chinese character, it cannot be shown in the input location.

  • Display and Input Chinese conflict? +other qs.

I have a Swing Application - and I want to have part of the GUI in Chinese. (List boxes etc.) In order to do this, I use Bitstream Cyberbit font and it works fine.
In order to Input data in Chinese in a TextField, I use NJstar to do the data entry. This works fine on its own as well.
    - Now, when I have an application to do BOTH the above, it does'nt work (I cannot input Chinese AND display chinese)
Do I need to use a font or something that comes with NJstar for DISPLAY as well?
Is there an underlying conflict between NJStar and BitStream Cyberbit on when working together - i.e. one cannot use bitstream cyberbit for display and NJstar's font for data entry?
    - Data entered by entered by NJStar in chinese can be read by Java as Unicode? For example
//if textfield1 contains chinese characters (as entered by njstar)
    String chineseString = jtextfield1.getText();
do I need to do any change in encoding??
    - Sometimes NJstar enters rubbish (incorrect encoding) in my Swing window? Anyone had the same problem?
    Please advise. TIA,
    Carlos

    Hi Carlos,
I'm yet to meet the Bitstream Cyberbit font, but one question sticks in my head. Is it a Unicode-based font?
AFAIK, NJStar enters all its data in a Unicode format, so it's possible that while Swing knows how to handle NJStar's input, the Bitstream font doesn't know how to display it.
As for the rest, the only other thing I can suggest is that every now and then CJK characters like to be converted over to UTF-16 in Java as opposed to UTF-8. I'm still not entirely sure why. :)
From memory, you can change the encoding of the data you're entering with NJStar, so that might be worth a shot.
    Hope that helps!

  • Kanji (or Chinese characters) handwriting recognition with tablet (not trackpad)

    Hello,
I have a Wacom tablet and I would really like to use it to input Kanji by drawing them. I know there is an option to draw kanji with the trackpad and that works perfectly fine, but I don't find it very comfortable and since I have a tablet I would really like to use it for that purpose! And I can't find any way to use that trackpad option with my tablet!
I also know there are internet tools (and even a google app) that enable to draw them and get them recognized... But you need to copy-paste everything that you write, it is just so unpractical! I would just like to use my tablet in the same way that the trackpad drawing option works!
I know it is possible to use tablets to draw kanjis on windows computer, everyone says it around the internet... But I just cannot believe there isn't a possibility to do that with Macs too! Is it really the case? Is there not an extra "IME" or app to download that could enable this option?
    Thanks in advance!

Not sure it supports Wacom tablet, though

  • Chinese Character Handwriting

I'm not sure if this is the right place, but maybe if a mod sees this they can pass it on to Apple Developers.
Has anyone noticed stroke order for some Chinese characters in handwriting input is incorrect?  I'm not sure if incorrect is the right word, but I first noticed the problem on the iPod touch and then my Macbook Pro (running Mountain Lion) as well.
For example when writing the character 性 for the radical 忄it should be the far left stroke first, then far right, and then the middle stroke, but whenever I wrote the radical this way, the first character that came up was 牜.  I tried rewriting 忄several times, and more often than not the first choice was 牜.  Sometimes 忄 appeared as one of the last choices, but having it not appear at all was common.  I could only get 忄 after slowly and delibrately  However when I wrote 忄 incorrectly (meaning far left stroke first, middle stroke next, and far right stroke last) it almost always came up as the first choice.  Unless you write 性, delibrately and slowly the handwriting system seems to get confused or overwhelmed and almost always spits out 牲 as the first choice.
I guess as a suggestion, the Chinese Character Handwriting for Mountain Lion and iOS is good, but could definitely still use some work.  As a comparison I have a Motorola Droid with which you can input handwritten Chinese characters.  And the Droid has consistently recognized every character that I intended to write (regardless of writing speed and accuracy/clarity of said handwritten character).

It would be a good idea to repost your message here for Apple to see it:

  • Problem inputting Chinese characters in oracle forms

    Hi,
We have a Chinese character: UCS2=7A4F (UTF8=E7A98F) If we try to input it to a control in a Forms application using chanjie (key sequence h-d-b-s-p) input method, it becomes "?", but if we input it using same method in word or notepad, it shows correctly and can then be copy-and-paste to oracle forms.
Is there some sort of implicit conversion of Chinese character input done by Oracle Forms controls such that it is unable to decode this character properly? Or is there some sort of setup that can be done to bypass this problem?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, hopefully as soon as possible.
    Thank you very much.

  • Cannot diplay chinese properly.

My application need to display chinese , eng and korea etc.
The situation is it cannot display chinese character properly.
    I have a set of properties file(s) - message.properties, message_zh_TW.properties....etc
So, I just want to make sure how can I created the properties file(s)?
If I run it on windows 2000, do I need to change the locale setting/default language in order to generate the message_zh_TW.properties?
Does the properties files are in UTF-8 format?

I have worked with Chinese Java Swing GUI and JSP web based application. For GUI, I have used unicode resourcekey properties file. But, For JSP web appilcation, I am using actuall chinese characters in resourcekey file.
If you are going to use actual chinese characters, You have to install language support (locales) to your windows 2000 o/s. That will make easy to type chinese charcters in normal notepad.

  • Cannot insert Chinese character into nvarchar2 field

I have tested in two environments:
    1. Database Character Set: ZHS16CGB231280
    National Character Set: AL16UTF8
If the field type of datatable is varchar2 or nvarchar2, the provider can read and write Chinese correctly.
    2. Database Character Set:WE8MSWIN1252
    National Character Set: AL16UTF8
The provider can not read and write Chinese correctly even the field type of datatable is nvarchar2
I find that for the second one, both MS .NET Managed Provider for Oracle and Oracle Managed Data Provider cannot read and write NCHAR or NVARCHAR2 fields. The data inserted into these fields become question marks.
Even if I changed the NLS_LANG registry to SIMPLIFIED CHINESE_CHINA.ZHS16CGB231280, the result is the same.
For the second situation, only after I change the Database Character Set to ZHS16CGB231280 with ALTER DATABASE CHARACTER SET statement, can I insert Chinese correctly.
Does any know why I cannot insert Chinese characters into Unicode fields when the Database Character Set is WE8MSWIN1252? Thanks.
    Regards,
    Jason

    Hi Jason,
First of all, I am not familiar with MS .NET Managed Provider for Oracle or Oracle Managed Data Provider.
How did you insert these Simplified Chinese characters into the NVARCHAR2 column ? Are they hardcoded as string literals as part of the SQL INSERT statement ? If so, this could be because, all SQL statements are converted into the database character set before they are parsed by the SQL engine; hence these Chinese characters would be lost if your db character set was WE8MSWIN1252 but not when it was ZHS16CGB231280.
Two workarounds, both involved the removal of hardcoding chinese characters.
    1. Rewrite your string literal using the SQL function UNISTR().
    2. Use bind variables instead of text literals in the SQL.
    Thanks
    Nat
