Cannot install 10.4 server administration software on 10.5

When I try to install server admin software on my new MacBook running 10.5.2, I get the following message: "You cannot install Server Administration Software on this volume. You are not allowed to install the software on this disk for an unknown reason." I have partioned my drive into a boot camp volume with Windows XP installed and a third volume for "extras" that won't be backed up when this computer is used as a mobile machine for an account on 10.4.x Server home directory. In the installer, all three volumes show up with a red exclamation mark over them. Thanks for any advice.

You are supposed to be able to use the 10.5 Admin tools with Tiger Server. Tiger Server must be at 10.4.11
You can download the 10.5 tools from here:
http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/serveradmintools105.html
Here is the Admin Tools compatibility article from Apple:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301590
Hope this helps.

  • Server Administration Software installation failure

When I try to install the Server Administration Software on my MacBook, I get the following error message when I select the "Macintosh HD" as the installation target.
+"You cannot install Server Administration Software on this volume. You are not allowed to install the software on this disk for an unknown reason."+
Since I have a couple of Xserves and Xraids to manage, this is of interest to me.
    * ServerAdminTools10.4.11.dmg
    * Mac OS X 10.5.2
    * Macintosh HD - 193.34GB available
I attempted the installation with two different accounts that are flagged as Admin on this laptop. Clues on how to proceed would be very much appreciated.

    Hi
This could be a problem with the installer disk? In the meantime you can copy from your existing servers (presumably with the same versions of the Server Administration Software) the Server folder in /Applications.
    They should work.
    Hope this helps, Tony

  • Cannot install Crystal Reports Server 2008 and Client Tools on same machine

I am having trouble setting up Crystal Reports Server 2008 with Client Tools on a new Windows 2003 SP 2 machine. The Server 2008 package installs OK (built-in MySQL server, built-in Tomcat 5.5 server). Reports run okay. But my customer wants to run reports that use Salesforce as a data source, so I tried to install Crystal Reports Server 2008 Client Tools (needed  for Salesforce support, apparently). I receive this error:
'Business Objects product detected: cannot continue with install'. Installation of Client Tools immediately terminates.
Oddly enough, when I uninstalled Server 2008, the Client Tools installed successfully. Then I tried installing Server 2008, and I got the same error message as with Server 2008. What the heck?
Any ideas on how I can get Server 2008 and Server 2008 Client Tools to live in harmony on the same machine? We were able to do this with a (otherwise overloaded) Win2K3 server before.
Thank you in advance for any help.

Typically the client tools are installed with enterprise by default. If not then you would want to use add/remove in control panel and select them. The installer thinks you are trying to install enterprise on top of itself and thus the error.
    Regards,
    Tim

  • Cannot Install Mac OS Server X

Hi, I am trying to install MAC OS Server Tiger on an IMAC intel core Duo but I am getting a message saying the MAC OS Server cannot be installed on this version of MAC. Is there a work around to this or I would have to by a Mac Mini instead?
    Thanks!

Sounds like you may have a PPC server install disc. You cannot install PPC Server onto an Intel chipped machine.
    Somewhat of a side note.
We had to reinstall on of our machines, so I booted a PPC G4 into Target disk mode, inserted the OS X PPC disk into my Mac Pro (Intel) and got the same message...even when I wanted to install it on the target machine, not the Mac Pro.

  • Cannot install crystal report server - please help

    hello users,
i cannot install the server application. i put the dvd in the drive and choose german install and directly cames an error.
"Fehler bei der Übernahme der Transformationspakete. Stellen Sie sicher, dass die Transformationspfade gültig sind."
    in english nearly:
"error by assumption of transformationpacket. make sure, that the transformationpath are validly"
sorry for my english but i am a long-established german

    Hello Marcus,
I believe this is an 'error applying transforms' type of error.
Running the MSI installer from command line should typically resolves the problem.
From the cmd line, at the root of the CD drive, type:
    msiexec.exe /i win32\businessobjects.msi TRANSFORMS=:1031
Please note that the 1031 indicates German. 1033 indicates English.
There is more information in the following SAP Note:
1202481 - Error Applying Transforms - Verify that the specified transform paths are valid.
    Thanks.

  • After Server Administration Software for 10.6.8 install on my mac- Now I can't use Disk Utility ?

I installed ServerAdministrationSoftware for 10.6.8 on my mac- NOW I can't use Disk Utility - get Dyld Error Message:   Library not loaded: /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/PlatformHardwareManagement.framework/Versions /A/PlatformHardwareManagement? Also, the only reason I installed this was for the Workgroup Monitor which kicks out the same error.
    Any help would be appreciated!

FireFox can't open lots of files it isn't suposed to. DMG is opened by the Mac osx as a virtual volume file you just drag the FireFox icon to where you want it installed. Check your desktop for a FireFox volume... like a drive. Double click the DMG file if it is not there. This is how Mac works it has nothing to do with FireFox, many apps install this way!

  • Cannot Install ADWS on server 2003 Standard SP2

running server 2003 SP2 - Extended my schema to 2008 no problems. Installed latest RSAT on a windows 7 domain client, cannot connect due to no ADWS service running on my DC.
I attempted to install the ADWS service and received an error at the point where my netlogon was too low a version.
After researching I found the hotfix for just this issue (KB969428) and installed the hot fix.
ADWS (KB968934) fails again - this time it succeeds all prerequisite checks (passing netlogon) up to prerequisite check for System.DirectoryServices.AccountManagement
After looking in to this, it appears to be looking for a .net component that is newer than 3.5 SP1 - Should I install Beta 4 of .net to resolve this? If so, what are the ramifications of having to uninstall and reinstall .net when v4 final is released? if not, how else can I resolve this issue?
Below is my KB968934.log - I left the first section in to show where it failed at netlogon, scroll down and you will see netlogon pass the prerequisite check and where my next failure occurs. Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

  • Cannot install or manage Server 2012 R2 RDS server locally but works remotely

I am working with a Server 2012 R2 standard machine and attempting to get Remote Desktop Services installed and configured on it. Using the Add Roles and Features wizard while logged on locally to the server in question resulted in the error
“Unable to connect to the server by using Windows PowerShell remoting.” However, if I use a different Server 2012 R2 machine to run the Add Roles and Features wizard remotely targeted
at the original server then I can successfully get RDS installed.
Also, after the installation has completed I cannot manage RDS locally on the server but can successfully manage it remotely from another Server 2012 R2 box. When attempting to use Server Manager locally and choose the Remote Desktop Services menu the error
message "A Remote Desktop Services deployment does not exist in the server pool."
The server appears to be functioning correctly and can be managed remotely just not locally. I can reproduce the behavior on other Server 2012 boxes in the environment.
What would cause local install and management to fail but remote management work?

    Hi,
Have you added the RDS server under server manager ADD server? Does it show the server in server list?
Check whether there is any wrong IP address\hostname entry occurs under DNS record which looks\points the DNS entry successfully.
    Add Servers to Server Manager

    Hope it helps!

  • Issues Installing MacOS X Server administrative tools

I'm trying to install Admin tools verson 10.4 on my MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard 10.6.4.
When I try to install the .mpkg file, it tells me that I don't have permission to install Admin tools on my mac... I have never had this problem in the past installing software, why is this one telling me this now?
    Thanks,
    Charles

    Chuck:
As Tony said, screen sharing is your best bet. Server admin tools, for whatever reason, work best, or at all, only if they are installed on a client running the same client version of the OS as the server. you can run 10.5 tools to admin a 10.4 server, but personally, I wouldn't. If you are running 10.5 or later on a client Mac, you can use screen sharing to connect to other Macs. If you're not familiar, on the server, enable remote management. On a client running 10.5 or later, open a window (for instance, your HD). On the left side of the window that opens you should see a short list of computers on your network. Click on see all if your server is not listed. Then select the server you want to manage, and click the screen sharing button. Enter a username and password on the server, and you're connected. You can then run the admin tools as if you were sitting at the server.

  • Cannot Install or Update the iTunes software- Nothing is working

I purchased a ipod Touch and plugged it into my Dell laptop. It knows it's attached but the software that I need refuses to update or recognize the new ipod. When I tried to follow the steps laid out in a prev. post it did nothing to solve the problem. I tried to change and repair the software, got nothing. I try to uninstall the software and this is what I get:
"iTunes could not be installed because Visual Basic Script (VBScript) is not installed or has been disabled. Make sure VBS is installed, turned off script blocking in anti virus and personal firewall software. Re registrar VBScript and then install itunes."
How do I do this and what other options do I have to get the latest software for my iPod Touch?

I found a way to answer my own question lol. If anyone is having the same problem, and judging from the other threads you are, here is what I did.
I have a Dell Inspiron E1505 computer but I think it's ok if you have 32 bit computer.
This is the steps I took:
Open a command prompt. Then type following commands :
    cd C:\Windows\System32.
    regsvr32 vbscript.dll
    I found this information here:
    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;ylt=AlzRlxvf3WnjIRnyeKFNakAjzKIX;ylv=3?qid=20070427015137AA93YaP
To go to the command prompt click the windows icon, accessories, and then click "command prompt." Then type the information quoted above. I found this by using Yahoo Answers and searching for the "vbscript" ipod error message.
As the post on Yahoo Answers states even if an error message comes up it will still work. I followed that post and my problem went away.
Hope this helps someone out there.

  • Cannot install Sun Application Server with JSC 2

    Hello :)
I have been installed JSC 2 update 1 for first time, 2 month ago, but I got a problem so I have to reinstall the JSC 2. I did uninstall and then delete the JSC 2 directory and directory under my Document and Setting/user1/Creator21/
But when I reinstall the JSC 2, I couldnt get Sun App Server to be installed. I tried it 3 times already but I got the same problem, still couldnt install JSC 2.
(Installation was success ,... not error message during installation). I thought it has problem with the registry, so please tell me how to fix this problem.
    Thank You !

Sorry, the reply is not related to your query,
but you could try the latest netbeans 5.5 and use the visual web pack plugin..

  • Cannot Install Windows 2008 Server on IdeaCentre K330

    Hi,
when i trying to install the  Windows 2008 R2 i see blue screen when it reboots. Does anybody have the same experience?
    How to fix it?
    Thanks!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I resolved it: issue was with media, with DVD, which caused BSOD. New DVD resolved the issue.
However: I've got a pretty serious issue with integrated network card, WinServer 2008R2 was not able to identify it and whatever driver i've got (from Intel or Lenovo, this is Intel 82579V chipset), it didn't work.
After researching i finally found the solution and hope it will help for somebody else. What i did:
    - I launched autorun.exe from drivers DVD from Lenovo and identified what next executable it run (to install LAN drivers). It was 11002049.exe. It basically extracts LAN drivers, when i run it from console it showed that it couldn't expand files on DVD
    - then I copied whole dvd to the hard drive and run this executable: it extracted files on the same folder
    - then i navigated to ~/your DVD/PRO1000/Winx64NDIS62
    - then i opened the file: e1c62x64.INF and updated it like i guy from other forum said:
    The dirty details: e1c62x64.INF is the file [Intel] [Intel.NTamd64.6.1] <--- remove the second .1 here so it looks like this ; DisplayName Section DeviceID ; ----------- ------- -------- %E1502NC.DeviceDesc% = E1502.6.1.1, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1502 %E1502NC.DeviceDesc% = E1502.6.1.1, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1502&SUBSYS_00011179 %E1503NC.DeviceDesc% = E1503.6.1.1, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1503 %E1503NC.DeviceDesc% = E1503.6.1.1, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1503&SUBSYS_00011179 and then the above sections will be visible to the 2k8 inf parser.
    - After that i navigated to the Hardware/Devices and Printers/selected the troubled unidentified LAN device and selected "Update Driver", navigated to the path where i updated the mentioned inf file and driver was installed SUCCESSFULLY!

  • Cannot install Oracle workflow server 2.6.3 for window

    Hi all,
I have Oracle server on my PC, and create a database instance (with the Data warehouse option).
I download the Oracle workflow server 2.6.3 from Oracle download page (inside the term Workflow Server of Database). I do modify the init.ora file with the corresponding parameters: aq_tm_processes = 2 and job_queue_processes = 10 as in the Installation Notes before running the Oracle Universal Installer.
However, I always receive the error (after the analyzing dependencies step: "This is not a 10g Oracle_Home"). It is so weird because the directory specified is the ORACLE SERVER.
Please Help Me To Figure Out this problem as soon as possible.
    Thanks so much,
    Tien
