i use umac i7 (ati radeon HD 4850) and os 10.6.4
i have photoshop CS5 installed with ACR 6.1. they work well.
when i attempt to install the ACR 6.2 rc i get message "update not applicable".
any suggestions (no sig response on camera raw forum.

What version of QuickTime for Windows is installed?
I believe QT 5 or greater is needed although the download specs call for QT 4.1.2 or greater.
Another possibility is QT may need to be reinstalled.

I believe this is an 'error applying transforms' type of error.
Running the MSI installer from command line should typically resolves the problem.
From the cmd line, at the root of the CD drive, type:
msiexec.exe /i win32\businessobjects.msi TRANSFORMS=:1031
Please note that the 1031 indicates German. 1033 indicates English.

Cannot install ACR 8.4 on photoshop CC mac version - Error Code: U44M2P7

hello,
when i try to update photoshop CC's ACR 8.3 to 8.4 externally using installer titled "adobe-camera-raw_8-4_cc.dmg" i get an error message (please see below)
error log file says:
Photoshop Camera Raw 8.4(CC)
Installation failed. Error Code: U44M2P7
i cannot update to ACR 8.4 through creative cloud panel and this is why i am trying to update externally using a DMG file. i need nokia lumia 1020 lens correction support as a pro photographer and this is why i want to update to 8.4

No matter what I try to do I cannot get Safari to install extensions. I have tried some of the answers others have been given for a similar problem but non of them seem to work. If anyone can tell me a way I can uninstall Safari and reinstall it again or repair it I would be incredibly grateful for your help.

Try deleting the Safari .plist
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following:
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist
Click Go then move the com.apple.Safari.plist file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari. Try adding an extension.
The only way to reinstall Safari on a Mac running v10.8 Mountain Lion is to reinstall OS X using OS X Recovery

Cannot install other OS (windows XP ) help much appreciated

Hello to everybody
here is my problem
recently windows vista home basic have crashed
so I decided to replace them with windows XP
so I put the windows XP CD boot from there and start the installation procedure
through this I have also deleted any partition I found and formatted the disk
and then install windows XP but
installation never completes because when files are copied and makes the first restart
laptop keeps wanting to boot from windows vista !! Although I have formatted the disk and normally nothing should be there !!!
I have read something about hidden partitions etc does anyone have some idea ?

Cannot install or update Apps. Help!

Using my iPad Air (latest iOS 8.0.2 (12A405) installed.
I am completely unable to update the three apps it says "UPDATE" (meaning, these apps have an update for it.
Also, unable to install any new apps -- whether brand new, free, or previously installed-then-deleted-but-still-accesible-in-cloud.
I tried a Network reset, but that isn't it.
Anyone!??! Ideas?

I just rang and they helped me with this issue.
Make sure you know your wifi password. The following fix didn't require a restore or for me to lose any other data.
Go to Settings, General, Reset, Reset all settings. Reset, Reset, (It might ask for the devices password).
Once the reset is done, open the apple store and search for the apps that aren't working and download them directly from the app store.
I really hope that it helps everyone. I'd be keen to know if it helps.

Cannot delete itunes .msi not found and cannot install new one! please help

Please help me awhile ago i tried deleting then reinstalling th new version of itunes / quick time and after going through most of the installation process this comes up:

Then i tried uninstalling it (somehow it says its installed in add or remove programs) and the same message came up.
After ages of trying to figure it out and deleting heaps of things, when trying to install now it says:

WHen you get trouble with msi files you usually need the Microsoft Installer cleanup utility.
Here is a method for removal of iTunes and related programs with clean up and reinstall.
Download a fresh copy of iTunes and the stand alone version of Quicktime (the one without iTunes)

Download and install Microsoft Installer cleanup utility, there are instructions on the page as well as the download. Note that what you download is the installer not the program – you have to run it to install the program. The installer doesn't give any message to confirm the installation.

Now use the following method to remove iTunes and its components:

*If you hit a problem with one of the uninstalls don't worry*, carry on with the deleting of files and folders as directed in the method.
When you get to deleting Quicktime files in the system32 folder as advised in the method, you can delete any file or folder with Quicktime in the name.

Run the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility. (Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up)
Remove any references you find to the programs you removed - strictly speaking you only need to worry about those programs where the uninstall failed.
If you don’t see an entry for one of the programs that did not uninstall, look out for blank entries or numeric entries that look like version numbers e.g. 7.x for Quicktime or 1.x for Bonjour.
restart your PC
Install the stand alone Quicktime and check that it works.
If it does, install iTunes.

10.2 ok but cannot install 10.3 computer freezes HELP

i cant seem to find the answer i am looking for.
i have a Lombard (333mhz) g3 powerbook. i have maxed out the RAM, and removed the 4gig hard drive and replaced with a 60 gig Hitachi. (after a lot of reading and checking that the drive would work).
this is the order of events:
1. installed OSX 10.3 successfully on my ORIGINAL 4 gig drive.
2. decided to get a bigger hard drive when i saw how much space was used.
3. put in the bigger drive and attempted to load 10.3. almost through the install and it "crashed", the computer froze, the screen graphics went into lines and i had to start over.
4. ditto a bunch of times.
5. went to my friends house to use his CD version, assuming that mine had got corrupted. same thing happened
6. we attempted to partition the HD and see if that would work (erasing correctly, making sure it was in mac-extended etc). no joy.
7. we borrowed his girlfriends indentical powerbooks DVD drive (mine is CD only) and using a 10.2 installer were able to easily install 10.2
8. attempted to then upgrade to 10.3.
9. no joy. we get 90% though the install and the screen suddenly looks like its on acid, crazy colours as if the screen was smashed, then lines and the powerbook is frozen.
so here i am with 10.2 installed, wondering why i can't get 10.3 to load?
all indications are that i didnt really need the partition, and that i dont need a firmware update..and if 10.2 is fine, can it really be the hard drive or the RAM??? i had erased and repaired as instructed.
as a rookie i am totally lost at this point.
any help appreciated.

The Lombard seems to have the most problems with OSX due to memory and CPU issues. This has been an ongoing problem from Day 1 with OSX Beta.
Since you are running the max RAM of 512MB, I would remove the top 256MB module, then attempt your install. You do •NOT• have the defective microprocessor card that will not permit any memory in the top slot with any version of OSX since you can run 10.2.x with 512MB of RAM. But 10.3.x offers another potential problem with memory; some CPUs can only run a maximum of 384MB, otherwise the display will become psychedelic as you have experienced.
If removing the top 256MB allows a successful install, run it for awhile to make sure everything performs normally, then reinstall the top 256MB. If you experience screen-meltdowns, I would try a 128MB stick in the top slot.
There are no firmware updates for the Lombard nor do you have to partition the HD.
Addendum: Another symptom of the 10.3.x/too much RAM on the Lombard is an inability to run Repair Disk Permissions.

Cannot install ACR 4.5

I have just purchased and installed CS3. After installing I checked for updates and there were quite a few of them. I downloaded and installed them, all but Adobe Camera Raw 4.5 update. I can download this file, but it will not install, no matter how I try to do it, either from the CS3 program or from the Adobe site. I am running XP Pro.
I am really interested in getting this installed as I want to work with RAW photos.

Thank you. I have "unzipped" the file, but I didn't take note of where I was supposed to put it. I have found where I think it is supposed to go, but not sure. The CS3 folder is in the Adobe folder, but there are other folders within the CS3 folder, as well as other files, do I put this file (Camera Raw.8bi) in as a file, or does it go into one of the folders?

Cannot install my Audigy 2 ZS HELP

Here's my system: LAN Party UT nF3 Gb (nForce 3 250 Gb chipset); 28 MB Geforce 6800, Athlon 64 3000+, 024 MB RAM, Win XP Home w SP 2. All hardware has the latest drivers, Windows has the latest updates. I had some time ago stopped using the onboard sound, disabled it in BIOS, and installed an SB Li've 5. I had. It worked just fine. My wife lovingly bought me an Audigy 2 ZS for Christmas. I uninstalled the Creative software for the Li've!, which automatically uninstalled the hardware profile. There were no entries at the time in the device manager. I stuck the Audigy 2 ZS in the next to last PCI slot. During installation the CD would autoplay, then a black screen that just seemed to be missing the window that opens detailing what's being installed, etc. The task bar was still visible. I would then get a message: Exception occured: error. Then I would have to CTRL ALT DEL to get the task manager to shut the program down. A reboot was never necessary. I tried switching the card to every available PCI slot, the same thing occured. Then, I put the Li've back in, which now wouldn't install either. The error message was as follows: "error occcured while launching the setup 0x08004080" The Li've had worked just fine before. Any suggestions to get the Audigy working would be great. I don't think it's a bad card since now the Li've is doing the same thing after working before.
Now I'm back to using onboard sound. Yikes.

I should add my DVD/CDRW dri've is acting strangely after uninstalling the sound card. It will not run autoplay, and will not run programs requiring access from the disc. This occured very recently, but makes sense. You can hear it trying to access the disc, but no activity.

ok, i'm starting to get agitated with this.
i cannot install windows XP, 2003, OR Longhorn on my machine.
right now, i have the following setup:
msi 865pe neo2 motherboard
intel p4 3.2ghz w/HT (factory HS/Fan currently)
1 dimm of PC3200 crucial DDR400
30GB maxtor HD plugged into primary IDE
pioneer dvd/cd drive as sencondary IDE
alps 3.5" floppy drive
antec true blue 480wt PSU
i do the following:
format with maxtor cd
boot from OS cd
start setup, reboot, continue
the farthest i can get is 'registering components/completing installation' i either get a blue screen stop error which isnt the same everytime, or it just locks up and doesnt do anything.
ran the memtest checker and get errors on test #4
i had a DIMM of kingston that gave the same errors, so i RMA'd it and got another. same errors, so i RMA'd again and got a Crucial stick. same errors.
so i RMA'd the motherboard since i figured it had to be that. and it improved from the problems i had earlier. (the problems i had before were worse before.)

yea, i dont plan to run the 250. im gonna wait for the new 480.
thanks for the info about ram timings as well. i havnt gotten any solid answers about what to set it to.
even with new mobo and ram, i'm getting errors in memtest86 #4 test as i always have. i've tried different slots with same problems.
i only have one module because i dont want to waste anymore money on a non-working system. once i get it up and running i'll add another 512.
