Cannot install Adobe Acrobat or Reader on Leopard OS!

Has anyone ever had this problem? I used monolingual software to remove non-english language files & non-Intel architectures for installed applications. I have had problems with Acrobat 9 ever since. It requires me to enter my system administrator password and once I do, it says that it has not been downloaded properly to my computer. That goes for both Acrobat8-9 and Adobe reader. What can I do?

Yes, and you always will. All Adobe updaters will fail if you have removed any program components such as language localization modules. The only solution is to remove the modified application and reinstall the original application. Do not remove any components from the applications using Monolingual or any similar software. Your Adobe updaters will then work properly.

    Hi,
This link has the minimum system requirements for Acrobat 10 Pro : Acrobat X Pro Tech Specs
On Windows XP, the minimum requirement is SP3 for 32 bit. I would recommend that you update to SP3 by running Windows Update and then reinstall the application.

  • Portege R600-11B - Cannot install Adobe Acrobat 9 - ActiveX issue

I have recently purchased a Portege R600-11B and have been trying to install Adobe Acrobat 9 on it by downloading from the Adobe site.
I have spent several unsuccessful hours talking to Adobe to try and resolve this issue.
They have concluded that my laptop is not compatible with the software.
This is not the case as this laptop exceed the systems specification required in all aspects.
The problem appears to be that it will not run ActiveX even after all firewalls and virus software in disabled - I don't really know what to do - does anyone have any suggestions please?

    >They have concluded that my laptop is not compatible with the software.
    Thats simply nonsense
The Adobe Acrobat Reader is a small application and can be installed on nearly all computers and systems So thats definitely not a reason why you are not able to install this software.
If this issue is related to the ActiveX then you could change this in your internet browser settings.
For example using the IE7 you could change this here:
Tools->Internet Options->Zones->{zone}->ActiveX controls and plug-ins->Allow previously unused ActiveX controls to run without prompt
You could also try to clean the OS and the registry because the issue could be related to the faulty registry entries.
For this I would recommend using the CCleaner free tool.
Last but not least its always advisable to check the support homepage of the software manufacturers. Here you can find some docs about installation issues with the Adobe Acrobat Reader.

    Check it out!

  • Cannot install Adobe Acrobat 8.1.1

I have Adobe Acrobat 8.1.1 installed on the Mac side but, tried to install on windows XP side several times and it fails to work. Yes, I D/L the Windows version.
While installing I get Error 1406 & I click ignore & then it says “Setup Completed Successfully” But I cannot open pdf documents.
    Anyone else have this problem?

    Solved it!
After too many attempts to count with the same result (Windows cannot access the specified device, file or path. You may not have the appropriate permissions.)  I tried shutting down ZoneAlarm Security Suite. It worked!  Now I have Adobe Acrobat 8.1.2 installed. They came out with an update while I was trying to install (& I did try to install the 8.1.2 with ZA active & got the same errors --so it WAS ZA causing the problem).
    Hope this helps others.

  • Cannot Install Adobe Acrobat Pro via Adobe Download Assistant - Please Help

    Hi Guys,
Please can you help I am trying to download the adobe acrobat pro trial via the adobe download assistant but cannot get the download to complete successfully.
Everytime I try and  download the file it freezes when almost totally downloaded (less than a minute remaining) and eventually returns an error saying:
Error extracting teh product installer (Error 101). Check for available disk space on your system and try downloading the product again. I am trying to install to the desktop on a drive with 600GB free!!
Please help, I have downloaded the ADA through google chrome on a machine with windows 7 (64bit)
    Thanks
    Mike

    Try this:
Direct Download Links for Adobe Software
Though if the extraction fails, you may face that same issue again. Store the fiel in a different location and do a littel housekeeping. You could well simply be running out of temp space or have a permissions problem on your temp folder...

  • Cannot install Adobe Acrobat Standard XI with License Code

I had a trial version of Adobe Acrobat Pro XI installed until I received my Standard License Code.  I uninstalled the trial, and am trying to install the standard XI version.  However, when running AcrobatStd_11_Web_WWMUI.exe file to install standard, the Installation still says Pro, and it will not accept my Standard License.  Is there a registry entry blocking Standard, or what do I have to do to get Adobe Acrobat XI Standard installed?

    Hi wcoffey.truehomes
It seems when you extracted the setup for the Acrobat standard XI , normally the setup gets extracted on desktop by default and that might have got mixed with previous extration of setup of Acrobat XI pro . You can try to extract the setup again which you might have downloaded recently in different location and meanwhile to try to check if you have already Copy of Acrobat installed on the Computer . Try uninstall and restart the computer. After restart try install again.

  • Cannot install Adobe Acrobat X Pro on Windows Vista ultimate

    Here are additional Details:
    Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T5450 @1,66GHz 1,67 GHz
    Memory(RAM): 2046 MB
    System type: 32-bit Operating System
    Is anything possible?
Which version of Adobe Acrobat would you recommend?

    Hi Zurab,
It sounds like you might not have SP2 installed for WIndows Vista.  http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobatpro/tech-specs.html
Acrobat 9 did not require any Vista Service packs to be installed.

  • Cannot Install Adobe Acrobat XI Purchase. Message "A more functional version already exists" and then exits program.

The only other Adobe program I have on my computer is Adobe Reader XI. I had a trial version of Adobe Pro XI but I have since deleted it from my computer and am still getting the error message. It will not let me complete installation.
    Did I just waste $300?

    Hi jsr_legalassistant,
Please use the Acrobat Cleaner tool ( Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs ) and remove Acrobat completely from the machine.
    Reinstall and check.

  • I cannot install Adobe Acrobat pro on my mac running Yosemite.  Why?

I was able to install Acrobat Reader, but when I tried to upgrade to Acrobat Pro on my mac, the Acrobat intaller just hangs there indefinitely.  I am running Yosemite.  What is the deal?

    Hi kctfsu,
We would require the install logs to analyse the failue cause.
If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Select
    /var/log ▹ install.log
from the hierarchical list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar. Then select the messages from the last installation or update attempt, starting from the time when you initiated it. If you're not sure when that was, start over and note the time. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting.

The following error message appears when I try to create a PDF in Publisher:

This is the forum for Adobe Reader (not Acrobat). If you have Reader, you won't have that driver. If you have Acrobat, you'll want to ask in that forum: http://forums.adobe.com/community/acrobat

  • I cannot install adobe reader. I get so far and get the message "Error 1324. The oath All folders or the volume is invalid. Please enter it again" can you help?

i cannot install adobe reader. I get so far and get the message "Error 1324. All folders or the volume is invalid. Please enter it again" can you help?

We need to know if any registry settings are causing this error.  Please follow these instructions:
from Windows Start | Search: type regedit and hit Enter; you will see a window like this
now click on the little arrow ▹ left from HKEY_CURRENT_USER
Next click the arrow ▹ beside Software, then Microsoft, then Windows, then CurrentVersion, then Explorer, then click on User Shell Folders
all entries on the right side should start with %USERPROFILE%
If you have anything different, this may be the cause for the install failure.
Now you need to repeat the same thing for another key:
    ▹ HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE ▹ Software ▹ Microsoft ▹ Windows ▹ CurrentVersion ▹ Explorer ▹ User Shell Folders
Here all entries should start with %PUBLIC% or %ProgramData%.  If you have anything different, this may also be the cause for the install failure.
