Cannot Install Adobe Flashplayer 9.0.16 Using SMS 2003

We are using SMS 2003 in an enterprise environment.
We have been unable to install Flash Player V9.0.16 using
SMS.
We had the same problem with Flash Player V8.0.24, and
finally gave up.
All other SMS packages we create install without difficulty,
including applications such as Adobe Reader 7x, MS Office 2003,
etc.
The error generated by SMS is:
The program for advertisement "MNG20107" failed ("MNG00099" -
"Adobe Flashplayer 9.0.16").
A failure exit code of 1 was returned.
User context: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM
Possible cause: Systems Management Server (SMS) determines
status for each program it executes. If SMS cannot find or
correlate any installation status Management Information Format
(MIF) files for the program, it uses the program's exit code to
determine status. An exit code of 1 is considered a failure.
Solution: For more information on the exit code, refer to the
documentation for the program you are distributing.
Attempts to search on the internet for an understanding of
this error have been unsuccessful.
Basically, we are looking for input from other SMS Admins who
have had problems installing Flash Player 9 with SMS, whether they
fixed it or not.
Hopefully, someone can provide some insight as to the nature
of the failure. I don't think its really SMS, as it generally
pushes other packages just fine. Only Flash seems to refuse to play
nice.
I am not interested in using Group Policy to push this
package, please start a seperate thread to have that discussion.
Thanks

I had the same question about what accounts were used in SMS
with advanced security. I was having a problem loading some
bluetooth drivers. Here's the reponce I got from an SMS list.
Do you have access to SMS R2? You can now use the custom
update tool for Adobe Flash.
You are correct about the Software Installation Account, it
is only for the legacy clients.
What kind of installer is the Bluetooth software using?
InstallShield?
If it is InstallShield (MSI based), I have had many problems
with InstallShield packages (MSI based) running under the SYSTEM
account, but it runs fine under my user account (which has Admin
rights). If this is the case take a look at this link:
http://community.macrovision.com/showthread.php?t=117720&page=3&pp=6
The information I'm refering to in the link is the following:
"Your probably referring to one of the many threads that
MichaelU and I had on this subject.
BTW I'd never read the document above. I've always followed a
simple approach with each release of InstallShield.
1) Install InstallScript MSI and use DCOMCNFG to determine
the AppID of the offending DCOM server.
2) Edit the ISSCRIPT.MSI to remove the RunAs registry value
of the AppID.
3) Edit the ISSCRIPT.MSI and add an entry to the
RemoveRegistry table in case the value has been previously seeded
out in the wild by a different install using the same version of
InstallShield.
4) Add the new MSI to my build environment"
Thanks,

  • Cannot install Adobe Flashplayer update

I cannot play any videos off the internet on my iMac. It tells me I need to install Adobe Flash player update
I do and it appears to update successfully and then I still get the same message
    Help

If you can't install or update Flash, follow these instructions.
If you have installed the latest version of Flash, please take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. After each step, relaunch Safari and test. For a "missing plug-in" error, start with Step 8. Back up all data before making any changes.
    Step 1
You might have to log out or restart the computer before a Flash update takes effect.
    Step 2
From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data...
and confirm. Close the window. Then select
               ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Delete All. Close the preference pane.
    Step 3
If you're only having trouble with YouTube videos, log in to YouTube and load this page. You may see a link with the text "Leave the HTML5 Trial." If so, click that link.
    Step 4
    a. If you get a warning of a "blocked" or "outdated" plug-in, then select the Security tab in the Safari preferences window. In the list of plugins on the left, there should be one—and only one—entry for "Adobe Flash Player," showing the same version number that you installed. Select that entry. On the right there will be a list of websites for which you have specifically allowed Flash, if any. It's normal for the list to be empty. Below that is a menu labeled
              When visiting other websites
From that menu, select either Allow or Ask.
    b. If you still get the alerts, then go back to the Flash Player preference pane and select the Advanced tab. Click Check Now. Quit and relaunch the browser.
    c. If the alerts still persist, triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle/Contents/Resources
Right-click or control-click the highlighted text and select
              Services ▹ Open
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open. Inside it, there should be a file named "XProtect.meta.plist". If that file is missing and you know why it's missing, restore it from a backup or copy it from another Mac running the same version of OS X. Otherwise, reinstall OS X.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    Step 5
In the Safari preferences window, select the Advanced tab and uncheck the box marked
              Stop plug-ins to save power
    Step 6
Open this folder as in Step 4:
    /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Delete the following item, or anything with a similar name, if present:
              Flash Player (failing).plugin
You may be prompted for your login password.
    Step 7
Re-download and reinstall Flash. Download it from the domain "get.adobe.com". Don't click a link from any other website, including this one, because you can't trust links. They may be an attempt to trick you into installing malware masquerading as Flash. Type the address into the browser window. Never download a Flash update from anywhere else.
    Step 8
If you get a "missing plug-in" error, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
from the Safari menu bar and check the box marked
              Allow (or Enable) plug-ins
    Then click the button marked
              Manage Website Settings...
if present and make sure that the website is not blocked for Flash.
    Step 9
    Select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
from the Safari menu bar. If any extensions are installed, disable them.

  • Cannot install Adobe FlashPlayer on my 2014 iMac

I have a 2014 iMac with OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 operating system. I have tried everything including calling Apple, even the supervisor doesn't know why it's not installing on my computer. I even did screen sharing with them, still no answer. I click install now on get.adobe.com/flashplayer and it downloads to my computer. I open up the download and click the icon to install flash player on my computer. Every time it gets to about 75% it stops and says Error: General installation error. Any idea how I can fix this?

You can try using the full offline Reader installer from

Exactly where are you getting your Flash from? It is quite free from the maker, no password needed.

However, if you fell for a trap and were lured into a fake site to rob you of your Apple ID credentials, I suggest you change your passwords immediately.

  • Installing Adobe Flashplayer problem

    Hi
I am trying to install Adobe Flashplayer for use with IE11
I click on the Install button and the Initialization graphic starts. Then after a few seconds I get a message saying "If you are having problems click here".
But the actual download stops or stalls.
Could it be the Norton Firewall stopping it. If so I have search Norton for a way to allow the download and cannot see what might be effecting it.
    I use Windows 7
    IE v11
    Norton 360 Premier.

Two bugs, one affecting Apple's Mac platform and another attacking Microsoft's Windows, exploit certain Flash player vulnerabilities to install malware onto users' systems, reports ArsTechnica. While users of other operating systems like Linux have yet to report attacks, Adobe's advisory notes the exploit affects all platforms.
Designated as CVE-2013-0634, the first vulnerability targets the Safari and Firefox Web browsers running on OS X, and is also being used as a trojan to deploy Microsoft Word documents containing malware. For Mac users, the flaw affects Adobe Flash Player version 11.5.502.146 or earlier.
On March 1 Apple again blocked Flash Player for Lion and Mountain Lion:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5660
The Adobe Flash patch can be found on Adobe’s website, and users can visit this page to check if their software is the most curent version.
You should uninstall any previous version first, and repair permissions after installing the new version.
If you still get a ‘plug-ins blocked’ message:

  • TS3938 I have a power pc processor g5 and cannot load adobe flashplayer.  Anyone know how?

I have a power PC processor g5 and cannot load adobe flashplayer.  Does anyone know how?

You can check here:  http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/  to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS. Note that version 10,1,102,64 is the last version available to PPC Mac users*. The latest version,10.3.183.23 or later, is for Intel Macs only running Tiger or Leopard, as Adobe no longer support the PPC platform. Version 11.4.402.265 or later is for Snow Leopard onwards.
    * Unhelpfully, if you want the last version for PPC (G4 or G5) Macs, you need to go here:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14266.html  and scroll down to 'Archived Versions/Older Archives'. Flash Player 10.1.102.64 is the one you download. More information here:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/838/cpsid_83808.html
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/909/cpsid_90906.html
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.
(If you are running a PPC Mac with Flash Player 10.1.102.64 and are having problems with watching videos on FaceBook or other sites, try the following solution which fools the site into thinking that you are running the version 11.5.502.55:)
Download this http://scriptogr.am/nordkril/post/adobe-flash-11.5-for-powerpc to your desktop, unzip it, and replace the current Flash Player plug-in which is in your main/Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder, (not the user Library). Save the old one just in case this one doesn't work.
