Cannot install backup to supervised iPads

Created a backup from one iPad and installed on Apple Configurator. The backup contains all my apps in folders for our elementary school. Then deployed the backup to 25 iPads. Left for the day. Returned to school and hooked up the rest of my iPads but cannot get the backup to take. They are no longer 'fresh' out of the box. I have tried erasing. Unchecking my profile that does contain 'do not install apps'. Can Apple Configurator become corrupted and if so how do you repair? Has anyone run into this mess and what solution did you find that I must be doing wrong. Many thanks.

I haven't seen this... but most of the time when Apple Configurator is misbehaving a reboot fixes it. After that, here's what I would try if I was in your shoes:
Create a new backup from the Supervised "master." Manually erase the iPads that haven't been restored yet (Settings - General - Reset - Erase All Content and Settings). Try restoring the new backup.
If that didn't work I would close out of Configurator, remove all Configurator preference and cache files (burried in various folders within ~/Library). Relaunch Configurator and try again.
If that didn't work I would do the above step again but reinstall Configurator before trying again. Before reinstalling I would also run a permissions repair using Disk Utility. I would also check permissions on files/folders in my home directory.
Again, I haven't come across this particular problem but these are the troubleshooting steps I would try if I was experiencing this. I hope this helps. If you find another solution please post it!

    We are aware of the installation issues people are experiencing when trying to upgrade to Revel iOS version 2.3.2 and have been working closely with Apple to resolve the issue as soon as possible. I have the same issue on my iphone and ipad. We apologize for the inconvenience this issue may have caused you. We have resubmitted an update to the app store and are currently waiting for app approval from Apple.

  • Cannot install new apps to iPad

    Hi,
    My iTunes doesn't install new apps and few installed apps doesn't show on iPad. "Automatic Install new apps" and "Install" options are grayed out. There is no page 3 on my iPad but my iTunes shows. Please see the attached image and please help!

    Both my macbook and windows laptop were authorized to the iPad and it was working fine. But now I get same problem on both the computers. Below are the steps i've already tried:
    1. Did all updates.
    2. De-authorized all computers and authorized only macbook.
    2. Reset iPad through itunes (summary page).
    3. Reset using iPad option. General ->Settings -> Reset -> Reset all settings and Reset home screen layout.
    4. Reset by holding power & home button.
    Even after doing all these reset the issue is same as mentioned above. Any idea?

  • I have downloaded the iOS5.1 but cannot install it in my iPad  after I click install now it verifies it and comes up withth an error message. with

    I have downloaded the update in my iPad but I cannot download it . After verifying  it comes up with  an  error
    message.

    Problem:
    At 99% the windows 7 download is decompressed into an ISO file. The SecureDownloadManager will crash if the
    image downloaded is corrupt.
    Solution:
    Delete the .sdc and .log files in your download location folder.
    reopen the .sdx file and complete your download uninterrupted. It should complete and unpack the iso correctly.

  • Error:cannot install gmail on original iPad  after deleting account and trying to re-install

    After entering valid name & password, I get an error that cannot connect to imap.gmail & that ID and/or password have been entered incorrectly.
    I have verified everything in the gmail account, and cannot find why this is happening.

    Its likely to be two factor authentication.
    I had this same issue and spent a long time trying to work out why. It occurred after I got a got a new iPhone. I went as far as resetting all my passwords, deleting my gmail accounts from the iPhone mail app etc. It turns out my issue (and hopefully yours) was that I had two-factor authentication turned on for gmail security. You have to put in a 16 digit unique password into the iPhone mail app rather than your normal sign in password. Generate this by going into your gmail --> settings --> accounts and import --> other google account settings --> security --> (check that 2 factor authentication is enabled) --> click settings next to 2 step verification --> app specific passwords ---> manage app specific passwords --> then use the drop down menus to select app (customise name - iPhone) and device. It will give you a 16 digit password and instructions on where to put it. If you are setting up the account fresh then put the app specific 16 digit password in INSTEAD of your normal gmail password.
    I hope that helps you with your problem!

  • Cannot install new apps on ipad 1

    There seems to be a programmed obsolescence going on here. The ipad is no longer good enough for new apps or even for the updating of old apps. Some apps like Linkedin just simply won't work with ipad anymore. Why do Apple think we will get another ipad after making this one non functional? Surely, the most logical thing would be try another kind o tablet and see if it lasts longer than an ipad. No, to programmed obsolence. We want durable machines please.

    When you figure out how to avoid planned obsolescence, you let us know.  Every single electronic product on the market gets upgraded.  Buy a didgital camera and within months it's outdated.  Buy a flat screen TV and within months it's outdated.  How many cell phones from 4 years ago can keep up with one from today?  Even your car has a one year cycle.
    Your iPad is now 4 generations old.  It simply can not handle iOS7.  So you really shouldn't be surprised by this.
    But, there is an option you can try to see if some of the apps have backward compatibility:
    On your computer open iTunes.  Download the apps you want to use on your iPad
    On your iPad, open the App Store
    Tap the purchased tab
    The apps you downloaded to iTunes should be there with a cloud next to them
    Tap the cloud and if there is a backward compatible option for your device, you'll tap that option
    If there isn't one, the App developer (not Apple as most Apple apps do have backward compatiblity via this method) chose not to offer one.

  • I am getting this error message after upgrading to iOS5: "iTunes cannot sync apps to the iPad "ray's iPad" because the apps installed on the iPad could not be determined."

    I am getting this error message after upgrading to iOS5: "iTunes cannot sync apps to the iPad "ray's iPad" because the apps installed on the iPad could not be determined."
    I wiped it out and restored from backup but I am still getting the same message.

    I uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes and that fixed it. Here are the specific instructions that I was given.
    ~~~
    Try the following steps:
    1. Go to Microsoft website to fix install and Unistall problems. Click "Run now" from Fix it to remove all iTunes & related installer files:
    http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall
    Be aware that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall over.
    2. You should remove all instances of iTunes and the rest of the components listed below:
    it may be necessary to remove all traces of iTunes, QuickTime, and related software components from your computer before reinstalling iTunes.
    Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order:
    iTunes
    QuickTime
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
    Follow the instructions from Apple article listed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 to remove all components
    3. Reboot your computer. Next, download iTunes from here:http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and install from scratch
  • HOW COME I CANNOT INSTALL AN APP ON MY IPAD
    how come I
    cannot install an app on my ipad
    Some apps require an iOS of 5.1.1 or higher.
    If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.0.1. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.
    If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
    Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).
    iPad (4th gen) Wi-Fi + Cellular (MM), iOS 7
    Adjusting the date or time didn't do anything for me either. I'm guessing my two options are to either do the full restore from scratch and not apply any backup ... Or possibly wait for an iOS update that might resolve this issue.
    I'm not that much of an avid twitter user that I need it implemented natively in all my devices - so for now I'll probably value all my game save data, internal settings in apps e.t.c. over that functionality (or over the amount of work it would be to get me back to where I am now after a full wipe). I'll see what happens after the next iOS delta update. I'll reevaluate the full wipe after that if the issue hasn't been resolved
    Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
  • I cannot install Lion to a backup drive for my new Mac Mini
    I just bought the new Mac Mini with an i7 processor last week. I wanted to format a backup drive for it. When I tried to use the Lion Recovery partition on the new Mac Mini, I keep getting an error message that says it's incompatoble with the current model.
    I also tried to use the Lion thumbdrive I purchased from Apple to see if that can be used, but it also give me the incompatible message.
    Is there a special version of Lion that's only for the new Mac Mini's?
    Any help is appreciated!
    Mac mini (Mid 2011), MacBook Air (Mid 2011): Use Lion Recovery instead of OS X Lion USB Thumb Drive
    Last Modified: September 01, 2011
    Article: HT4905
    Summary
    Learn about using Lion Recovery or the built-in OS X Lion recovery partition rather than OS X Lion USB Thumb Drive with computers released after OS X Lion.
    Products Affected
    MacBook Air (13-inch, Mid 2011), MacBook Air (11-inch, Mid 2011), MacBook Air (Mid 2011), Mac mini (Mid 2011)
    Use Lion Recovery to restore Mac computers released after OS X Lion. If you attempt to use the OS X Lion USB Thumb Drive, a message will appear stating that you cannot install this version of OS X on your computer. This is correct behavior to make sure you install only the correct and most up-to-date version of Mac OS X on your computer.
    Note: You can also use the Lion Recovery Disk Assistant on your Mac to create a bootable image to make sure you recover the correct version of OS X Lion. To use the Lion Recovery Disk Assistant, you need to have your own USB drive.
    Additional Information
    If you have a network connection, you should receive the appropriate version of Mac OS X when using the built-in Recovery HD partition on Macs running Lion.
    I have installed ios7 on my iPad 4. After installation it asked me a pass code which I have never set. After multiple attempts it is disabled. I don't have backup on my iCloud or iTunes. Is there anyone who can help to enable it or to reverse iPad to ios6. I asked Apple store & tech said to format it but I will lose all the data..!
    Thanks for that. Much more constructive than the last comment. It's only the restriction code I can't recall, not the access passcode. So I can currently access the device, just not age restricted content. Does that's make a difference? I also wondered if anyone knew how many attempts you get to try to get it right. Now tried 21 times and so far nothing bad has happened but I am concerned I'll eventually be completely locked out of the device. That doesn't seem in the spirit of things though. Surely it's foreseeable that a child could repeatedly try to guess the code so I can't see that it would be right to lock the device down completely in that circumstance, particularly if the access code is being typed in correctly every time.
    Thanks
