Cannot install boot camp 3.1 on my leopard macbook pro !!

the upgrade patch cannot be installed by the windows installer service because the program to be upgraded maybe missing or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program. verify that the program to be upgraded exist on your computer and that you have the correct upgrade patch. this is the error that i get when i try to install the boot camp update!

Hey guys...
I've got the solution of this problem...
The Windows part of the Bootcamp installer furnished by Apple *****!!!!
When you insert the DVD install of Snow Leopard, the AUTORUN launch the CD/DVD Sharing for Macbook Air ONLY, but not the BOOTCAMP INSTALLER...!!!!!!
I didn't see that at the first try, because we are using Macs, and we don't have habit to read AAAALLLL the stuffs we got on the screen, but, we should do!
That why, when you try to install the Bootcamp 3.1 updater, it doesn't work...
This updater ***** too!!! There's no warning message: The installer launch, then stop without no advertisement, and we don't know what to do and what's happening....
So, to resolve the problem, launch MANUALLY the BOOTCAMP 3.0 Installer from the Snow Leopard DVD installer:
Go to Windows Menu and select "Computer", then click on the DVD icon in the left side bar to browse it, open the folder "Bootcamp" on the DVD's root, and run the SETUP program...
It would take several minutes, and you will get many bullet messages from windows, informing you that many drivers are being installed...
When it's done, restart...
After reboot, launch the Bootcamp 3.1 updater.. IT WILL FINALLY RUN!!!!
Restart....
That's it....
To Apple staff:
Why did you do an installer "a la Microsoft"???

  • Cannot install Boot Camp 3.2 upgrade for Windows 7 64 bit

I recently installed Windows 7 64 bit on my macbook. I also installed Boot Camp 3.0.1 after Windows 7 installation, however, WiFi did not work. Therefore, I needed to upgrade to the latest Boot Camp 3.2. However, when I tried to install Boot Camp 3.2 upgrade for Windows 7 74 bit, I got an error message saying that I needed Boot Camp 3.1 installed first. I CANNOT find Boot Camp 3.1 upgrade for Windows 7 64 bit on Apple website at all. Can someone please help me on this? Is there a way to get the complete Boot Camp 3.2 package that can simply be installed on version 3.0.1??

here is the link to bootcamp 3.1 for windows 7 64 bit http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1336 .. and no there is no package that can be applied to the windows side to go from 3.0.1 to 3.2

  • HT5639 if i use boot camp to establish windows on my Macbook pro can i then install a windows program and run it without another software ie parallels?

Can I use a windows program such as QuickBooks on my macbook pro 15inch with only using boot camp or do i need to have another program?

Boot Camp is everything you need to run a Windows application.
Boot Camp allows you to install Windows in a second volume, so you can start up there and run all your Windows apps without needing any Mac OS X app. It's true that OS X apps like Parallels or VMware Fusion allow you to use your Boot Camp partition in Mac OS X, but it looks like you don't want that

  • I CANNOT USE BOOT CAMP ASSISTANT 4.1 ON MAC BOOK PRO 15 INCH

i installed windows xp using boot camp Boot Camp Assistant 4.0.1 version, which was on system along with macbook pro 15", quad core processor,
windows were also installed with the partitions, but after windows were installed, drivers were missing and wen i went back through options to open boot camp on mac os it boot camp was nt working,  i deleted the partion where i installed windows xp, and then too boot camp options to make partion is nt showing, kindly guide to repair BOOT CAMP ASSISTANT, and also how can i upgrage my Os frm lion 10.7.3 to mountain loin.

Reinstall OSX using the online recovery.
Then use Boot Camp Assistant. One of the Boot Camp Assistant menu items is download the Windows Support Software (drivers). Make sure you follow the Boot Camp instructions.
Or, Reinstall OSX using the online recovery.
Then install a virtual machine like Parallels, Fusion, or VirtualBox. Then install Windows in the virtual machine.
You can use either Boot Camp or a virtual machine to install Windows. Neither method requires any driver cds.

  • Native resolution problem on Boot Camp running Windows 8.1 on Macbook PRO 15 (2011)

    Hello
Couple days ago I purchased a DELL U2414h display, and I came across some problems while trying to use it with Windows 8.1 on Boot Camp.
Everything works like a charm on MAC OS X and I get 1680x1050 resolution on my 2011 15 inch Macbook PRO, and 1920x1080 on the external DELL display.
The problem starts when I run Windows 8.1... I get my native resolution on the Macbook, but the maximum usable resolution on the external display is 1776x1000. There's an option to choose 1920x1080, but when I do that, the screen looks blurry. Is there any way to overcome this problem?
I'm using HDMI Adapter, and I installed all the drivers which were downloaded while installing the Boot Camp
    Cheers
    Patryk

No I haven't, but could it be the case? The same display with the same adapter works fine while running the MAC OS X.
But yeah, the adapter converts the mini display port to HDMI (as far as I know)
    Thanks for the reply

  • Cannot install Boot Camp on my imac 27

Hello, I´m using Bootcamp to install Windoes on my Imac, afteri downloaded the Windows Support Software i couldn´t copy it/ burn it. When i tried to burn on a disk nothing happend after i pressed the ¨burn¨ button.
    I need some help here!
    Thanks!
P.S: English is not my main language.

Don't bother downloading the windows support software. You don't need it.
    If using Windows 7 http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3173
If you're using Win 7 Copy the file form the support document on to a USB stick formatted to FAT32
If you're using Vista/XP ignore the support article
Open Bootcamp utility and create partition and follow instructions
Reboot when it asks you to with the Windows installer disk in.
Follow instructions with the windows installation.
When windows is set up, insert your iMac install disk (grey one)
and it'll auto run and install the drivers you need.

  • Windows corrupts itself, errors installing Boot Camp 2.0 & 2.1

Mac OS 10.5 is working just fine, however upon partitioning and installing Windows XP Pro w/ SP2, I have nothing but problems! Windows update will not work, cannot install Boot Camp 2.1 without errors (says files are corrupted, even though I have re-downloaded the file a dozen or so times). After a short while of rebooting and attempts to install updates, Windows corrupts itself; IE will not open, Windows explorer crashes regularly, and no installation files will open without errors. Safari for windows barely works. I have attempted formatting and reinstalling the system 4 times now, both FAT and NTFS, using different Mac OS X disks for boot camp software, but I get errors every time. It seems I cannot install anything without errors. Also, windows seems to degenerate, each time I boot up the computer windows gets progressively worse, more errors, more problems.
I have checked and all of my EFI and SMC software is up to date.
Everything is working just fine on my Macbook (different computer), which used the same procedure.
    Macbook Pro Core 2 Duo 2.33ghz, 3gig RAM, 160HD, X1600, DL-DVDR
Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.4 Windows XP Pro w/ SP2

Solution found: Bad memory module (stick of RAM). After removing the bad stick, windows runs normally, updates are smooth.
Used "Remember" application to confirm memory is bad.

Will contact Applecare regarding bad memory.

  • Trouble installing Boot Camp 2.1 - BCUpdateVista32.msp

I have had severe difficulty trying to install the Boot Camp update 2.1 onto my MacBook Pro 15. I'm running Windows Vista Home Basic 32.
When I run Apple Software Update, it downloads the file but when it runs it quickly displays the following message:
    Boot Camp Installer Completed
The installer encountered errors before Boot Camp could be configured
To retry these operations at a later time, please run the installer again.
Click finish to exit the installer.
An apple support page, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1845, advises running Command Prompt using administrator rights and typing the following:
    msiexec /update <path to the .msp file>\BCUpdateVista32.msp
When I do this the response is "access denied."
I've also tried turning off User Account Controls in Vista and using .exe as the file extension (because that is how it downloaded). No luck.
    Any Ideas???

Boot Camp is mix of services and control panels. There is no Assistant in Windows.
There is Apple OSSwitcher; Boot Camp control panel. And whether there was an update to all components to 2.1 - the only thing that matters: is there something not working?
If it isn't broke, don't fix it.
A number of people installed the UPDATE to SP3 w/o and before BC 2.1.
Some people have had trouble, only AFTER installed BC 2.1 (was fine before).

  • Cannot install iTunes 10.7 on snow leopard MacBook Pro.

I have received my new iPhone 5 two weeks ago but I am unable to use it since I cannot install iTunes 10.7. I have a MacBook Pro with Mac OS 10.6 (snow leopard) and 2GB RAM. I have been trying to install it and every time I get an error message saying that the disk could not be verified. I tried skipping verification and again it would allow me installing. Furthermore, I am trying to do my recommended software updates (including one about security) and my mac never succeeds. I am just wondering if that could be the problem.
Any advice would be much appreciated!
    Thank you!

Try updating using a .dmg installer downloaded from the Apple website:

  • Cannot boot from XP CD when installing Boot Camp

I've tried several times to install XP with SP2 on my Mac Pro. I was successful installing Boot Camp with OS X 10.4. I did a clean install of OX 10.5.
My Mac will not boot from the XP CD once I'm told to re-boot while installing Boot Camp. I've tried holding the "C" key to force it to boot. It still will not boot. I can only get back into Max OS X by holding the "Option" key during boot up.
I have verified my XP disk and all looks good.
Has anyone else seen this and is there are work around?
    Thanks!

    Hi
It seems the drive cannot boot up from the CD recovery and switch to the LAN boot.
The PXE-E61 error message appears because the LAN cable was not connected and the notebook is not able to find a network boot source
I think you should check the recovery CD and maybe you will need a new one

  • Windows 7 install cannot see Boot Camp disk

I am trying to install Windows 7 x64 on my Mid 2010 MacBook Pro 13" using Boot Camp.
The Boot Camp assistant successfully creates the partition and reboots into the Windows 7 installer. I get through the language selection, click "install now" then I am presented with an error dialogue that says "Windows could not retrieve information about the disks on this computer."
Anyone have any ideas? I have tried reformatting w/ Boot Camp assistant a few times, each time it's the same error.

Turns out it was a bad image of Win 7!
Got it working... then realized how much I disliked running Windows on my Mac and removed the partition.

  • Unable to install Boot Camp 3.1 on Win 7 on iMac Intel (suggestions?)

I got the OEM version of Windows 7, professional and 64 bits, and installed it via Boot Camp Assistant. Got it running (no keyboard recognition), and tried to install Boot Camp for Win 7 via the Apple site:
"Unable to install 3.1, needs 3.0".
No problem, insert OSX disk (10.6.3), click, aaand:
"Boot Camp 64bit is not supported on this model"
Uh?,... I thought that my machine was supported (it's running Win7 64bits!),... any suggestions?. Am I doing something wrong?. Any help will be appreciated.

Unfortunately I cannot answer your question but I'm hoping someone can help us. I went a step further than you. I have an iMac 8.1 Intel Core 2Duo 2.8 GHZ Processor (early 2008). I spoke with Apple Customer Support and made it clear that I had Windows 32 bit and 64 bit software and wanted to install on my iMac and MBP. The agent told me to order Snow Leopard for the iMac. I found out tonight I cannot use 64 bit on this particular iMac even though Customer Support had the serial number and data when we ordered the Snow Leopard disc.
So, I partitioned the HD equally between Mac and Windows. Boot Camp installed Windows 7 with no problem and then encountered the same thing you did. Install Boot Camp 3.0 before 3.1. When I put the brand new Mac OS X Snow Leopard from Apple in the iMac it said 'not supported'. I tried to install but it won't.
Funnything is Win 7 seems to be running. I am having problems with the numeric keyboard on the UBS keyboard. I haven't really tried to do too much.
My question to append to yours is how do I go about uninstalling Windows 7 and installing Windows 7 32 bit?
I'm sick about this but at least I believe I can install the 64 bit on my current MBP. I wanted it on both my computers.
