Cannot install Canon MX700 Printer Drivers

I have tried to install from the CDROM that came with the printer, it failed with both the "Easy" and the "Custom" installs, with the error message:
MP Drivers could not be installed. Click [Start Over] to reexecute the installation process. That also fails, and I decided to break out of the infinite loop of starting over again and again by posting this message.
I also tried the suggestions as to how to correct installation problems, such as trying to install with an administrator account, and having no other apps running. These did not work; this is good because this isn't Windows after all.
Furthermore, I downloaded the drivers from the Canon USA site
http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=SupportDeta ilTabAct&fcategoryid=238&modelid=15651&kbpage=yes#DownloadDetailAct
but no joy with 6.9.3 nor with the CUPS 10.1.2 either. Both report failure with: The following install step failed: run preflight script for Canon IJ Printer Driver. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance. I wondered if I was alone with this problem with OS X 10.5.6?

I think you will find this is not an issue with 10.5.6, but rather something about your Mac setup that is stopping the installer from working correctly.
Try the following procedure for repairing faulty installations of the Canon drivers.
1. Open System Preferences > Print & Fax. Highlight the Canon printer in the Printer list and click the minus ( - ) button.
2. Hold Control key and click in the empty Printers list. Click on Reset Printing System.
3. Close Print & Fax
4. Go to Library > Printers > Canon and delete the contents of the BJPrinter folder.
5. Go to Library > Receipts and delete the Canon driver package file, if one exists. The file name will show Canon MX700 xxx.pkg
6. Go to Library > Preferences and delete the Canon folder.
7. Empty the Trash
8. Unplug the Canon USB cable and restart the Mac
9. Install the version 6.9.3 Canon driver that you downloaded. You don't need the CUPS v10.1.2 driver or any version on the included CDROM.
10. Once the driver installation is complete, go to Applications > Utilities and open Disk Utility. Run the Repair Disk Permissions option.
11. Reconnect the Canon USB cable. Then open Print & Fax and see if the Canon printer is listed. If it is, try a test print.
12. If the printer is not listed, click the plus ( + ) button.
13. Select the Default view and select the Canon printer connected via the USB port. The Print Using menu should automatically change to Canon IJ Printer.
14. Click Add to add the printer.

  • Need to install Canon Network Printer drivers on server...?

I am about to add a Canon PIXMA iP5200R network printer to my intranet via its Ethernet connection. I have configured and tested printing sucessfully from my PowerBook G4 directly to the printer via my intranet after installing the necessary drivers and software from Canon.
Now I will like to use Mac OS X Server running on my Xserve G5 to manage the printer, and I do have some questions pertaining to this:
First question: since I don't think Canon supplies any PPD file for most of its printers, do I need to install the iP5200R drivers and Canon IJ Network Utility on the Xserve?
Second question: is there a Command Line Interface for Printer Setup Utility, or their relevant commands in CUPS, or do I need to use ARD to get the GUI of Printer Setup Utility on my Xserve?
Third question: after using the GUI or CLI of Printer Setup Utility to setup the printer on the server side, will this appear in WGM when I bring up the window to add a new Print Queue in Print service?
Fourth question: according to the Apple Print Service Documentation, if I share the Print Queue via IPP (I will only be turning this protocol on) and I have installed the Canon drivers and software on all the Mac (client) computers on the intranet, then I can use specific features of the Canon printer (such as direct CD/DVD Labeling), assuming if the Mac computers select this Print Queue via their Printer Setup Utility?
Fifth question: this Canon iP5200R printer has the ability to allow only certain computers to send print jobs to the printer via a table of either MAC ID or IP addresses, so if I enable this feature on the printer and limit to print jobs coming from the server only, I should be able to prevent user from bypassing the server to print, assuming I am also locking down the selection of printers in Print Setup using WGM?
    Thank you for reading.

  • Installing Canon MP600 printer

Cannot install Canon MP600 printer. I've cleared out all the old Canon software, then downloaded all latest drivers form Canon, but when I try to add the printer I get message
"An error occurred while trying to add the selected printer.
    successful-ok-conflicting-attributes"
Any ideas how to resolve this?

My mp600 installed perfect. If you have the cd that came with it, I just installed the included drivers and all went fine. Try trashing all the canon software again. Search with spotlight to see if any other canon programs are in folders elsewhere and trash them too. Then try reinstalling again. Even without installing the drivers, your mac should recognize and make usable the mp600 (it just has less print settings than the actual canon driver).

  • Please HELP me install my Canon ip4300 printer drivers

    Hi,
I just bought a Canon ip 4300 printer and I can’t get my computer
    (ibook G4 14 in 1.0GHz) to install/recognize the driver.
I tried the installation CD, and downloading the latest driver from Canon.
    But no luck.
When I go to the Printer Set Up Utility and try to add the printer, the computer can find the printer over the usb cable. But when I select it, it can't auto find the driver. It just gives me a selection of outdated Canon gimp print drivers.
I called Canon and they walked me through installing the drivers in the root user account... but that didn't do anything either. They said I would have to call Apple -- that it was likely something to do with permissions???
Since I don't have any Apple support left, I came here.
Please, if anyone has any ideas, I would love to hear them.
    Thanks.

  • Problem Printing to a Canon MX700 Printer

I have a new Macbook Air (love it) and I want to print to my Canon MX700 printer. I have the driver properly installed on the MBA and I can print a test page to the Canon MX700 from the MBA. However, when I send an actual file to the printer, it never goes beyond the status of "spooling" in the print cue. What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks much...
    v/r,
    - Collabman

Thank you for the feedback. I should have mentioned my Canon MX700 is installed/connected to a Window XP desktop. The printer is being shared across my network and can be seen/printed to from a Windows laptop on my network so from the windows side, it is good to go.
I deleted the MX700 printer and re-added it by selecting "add printer or scanner." However, the printer only shows via the "windows" view (4th icon), where I can navigate/access it accross my network. I can add it, select the driver and install it just fine.
Still no joy printing an actual job to it though...
    Thanks much...

  • Windows 7 64 bit OS will not install any HP print drivers

My HP Pavilion p7-1297cb pc which is running windows 7 home premium 64 bit OS will not install any HP print drivers. All my windows updates are current, HP print and scan doctor did not fix it, I also tried MS fix it manager and did not work.  When I try to use my HP Officejet Pro 8500A Plus installation CD or HP's download center, software almost installs, but says print drivers will not install.  Also, I tried using USB connection and windows tries to install software, but does not work.  Same for HP print driver support.   I tried installing 3 different HP printers I had and all had the same issue. Any ideas on why my system will not allow any print drivers to install?

    Hi rrfhp,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I understand none of the HP drivers will fully install.
I will be happy to help you.
Are you signed in as the Administrator of the computer?
I would turn off all start up programs to make sure there isn't something blocking the printer.
Click on start, in the search box type in run, enter, then type in msconfig, click OK.
    Click the Services tab.
Click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box.
Click Disable All, and then click OK.
Then click on the start up tab at the top.
    Click on disable all.
    Reboot the computer.
Temporarily turn off any Antivirus software.
Then run the installation again by right clicking on the setup and selecting run as Admininstrator.
Don't connect the USB cable until prompted.
    Try printing now.
Then go back into msconfig and enable the All Microsoft Services and enable all on the start up tab.
Turn the Antivirus software back on again.
Please let me know the results if you are still having issues.
Are you getting any error messages?

  • How do I install dell v305 print drivers on my new macbook pro?

how do I install dell v305 print drivers on my new macbook pro?

Dell's drivers are only for Windows. If you can find out who makes the printer and what model it is, then you may be able to find OS X drivers for it. Or you can see how well it works using the Generic driver.

  • Cannot install Canon printer drivers after upgrade to Mountain Lion

Have got a MG3150 printer from Canon. which is in the supported list. I tried to add the new printer and get the message "can't install the software for the Canon MG3100 series becuase it is not currently available from the Software Update Server.
It says this,  in spite of giving me a message that they are available  when I attach the printer via USB. This does kick off an attempt to  to seek printer updates.
So both methods of updating the printer drivers fails.
I tried trashing the Cannon software and the PPD file for the MG3150 followed by a downloaded reinstall, but no luck.
    Any ideas, please?

  • Cannot install Canon Printer MG3100 Driver

Hi guys! This is my first time using a MacBook Air and I got it in January this year. Initially, I managed to somehow get my wireless printer to be connected to my Mac (but I cannot remember the method I did). I was able to use it normally till February. After about 3 weeks of not printing anything, my Mac can no longer detect my printer. It's really frustrating! I downloaded the correct driver from the Canon website but it always fails to install! It always shows this:
And I've tried downloading external drivers like Apple Canon Printer Drivers (http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/27696/apple-canon-printer-drivers) and Apple Canon Printer Driver 3.0 for Mac OS (http://www.techspot.com/drivers/driver/file/information/16430/) but none of it seems to be working!
Please help, I don't know what else I can do!
    Thank you!

If you didn't manually trash the Canon driver files then they are most likely still present so the action of trying to run the driver installer again is unnecessary. To check if the driver is still present, open Finder and select Go > Go to Folder. Then copy the following text and paste that into the Go to Folder field and then press the Go button.
    /Library/Printers/PPDs/Contents/Resources
Now look for a file labelled "CanonIJMG3100series.ppd.gz". If you see it then you still have the Canon driver installed and don't need to run the driver installation again.
You mention the Mac no longer detecting the Canon. This is a result of the Bonjour discovery service failing on your Mac - there are others in the same situation. To get past this issue you can create a direct printer to the MG. To do this you will have to determine what IPv4 address the MG is using. As there is no display on this model you may have to connect to your wireless router to check what IPv4 address has been assigned to the MG. Once you have the IPv4 address then you can select to add a printer, but change from the Default view to the IP view. Then enter the IPv4 address of the MG, set the Protocol to Line Printer Daemon, enter LP for the Queue and change the Name to MG3100. Then select the MG3100 series in the Use menu and click Add to complete the creation of this printer. Now you should be able to print again.

  • Cannot install Canon printer

I'm running 10.8.3 on both a Pro and an Air. For some reason the Air would no longer print to my Canon MF8050Cn via Bonjour. I located and installed an updated Canon UFR II driver v2.43 hoping that an updated driver might help. According to the Canon Europe site it is compatible with OS X 10.8.x.
Neither the Air nor the Pro will permit installation of this printer: message "The software for this printer is currently unavailable. Please contact the printer's manufacturer for the lastest software."
The Pro is still able to print using the current printer instance; I just cannot install another. On the air I no longer have a printer instance installed and therefore cannot print at all.
Should I ask Canon for a newer driver, or am I overlooking something?
    Thanks, Peter

  • Cannot install Canon LBP 6000 printer to Mac OS X 10.9.4

Cannot install a new Canon LBP6000 printer to Macbook Pro OS X 10.9.4. The installation window says that my operations systems are not compatible, though the Canon LBP6000 specifies compatibility with OS X 10.4 and higher.
Any suggestions on how to complete the printer installation?
    Canon imageCLASS printer LBP6000, OS X 10.9.4

    In my case it reports:
    Installation Successful
    The software was successfully installed.
To use the printer driver, add the printer you are using.
You must be an administrator to install apps, and change settings. The new user you create when you first set up your Mac is an administrator.
Your Mac can have multiple administrators. You can create new ones, and you can convert standard users to administrators.

  • How to install Canon MG3170 printer to Macbook Air (mid 2012), both USB & wifi

I have been trying to install the Canon MG3170 to my Macbook Air (mid 2012 version) using OS X Version 10.8.4. I followed the paper manual that came with the box & used the CD provided. In the midst of the installation, "AN ERROR OCCURRED WHILE TRYING TO ADD THE SELECTED PRINTER: UNABLE TO FIND THE APPROPRIATE SOFTWARE ON YOUR SYSTEM AFTER RUNNING SOFTWARE UPDATE."
    Problems:
    1) Cannot connect on Network because there is no WPS button on my Airport Extreme and Airport Express.
    2) Cannot print, both via USB or wifi network.
When I bought the printer, I specifically selected this because it has Airprint and wireless printing and was one of the few printers in the Apple Online store. However, I have been having a lot of issues getting the printer installed to be used on  my Macbook Air.
    Please help!!

    Thank you John Galt!
After running SOFTWARE UPDATE, I restarted the Macbook. (DO NOT CONNECT THE PRINTER TO THE MACBOOK YET!)
Then I connected the Canon Printer MG3170 to my MacBook Air via the USB cable.
Next, I switched on the printer.
    I am able to print and scan (via USB cable) from;
SYSTEM PREFERENCES - PRINT & SCAN - select CANON MG3100 series.
To install applications for printing & scanning, go to http://support-asia.canon-asia.com/contents/ASIA/EN/8201148300.html
However, this solved part of the question above, i.e., printing via USB cable (which is not the whole purpose of using the Airprint Printer) but at least it is a start.
*NOTE: UNINSTALL any prior Canon softwares and drivers specifically installed for this printer first before attempting the steps above as it may interfere with the installation process.

  • Need help installing Canon network printer on Mountain Lion

I am trying to install a Canon MF4270 network printer with my Macbook Air running Mountain Lion.
I added the printer using its IP, and selected the MF4200 driver from the list that came installed with the OS.  The printer worked, but it would not allow me to print double-sided (the option was greyed out). Some research showed that other people with similar problems simply updated the printer driver.
I checked the driver version and it said 2.0. I went to the Canon website and downloaded the newest version of the driver, which said 2.43.
I re-added the printer with the new driver. Same problem.
So I deleted the driver and the list of associated files, given to me by Canon tech support (I verified then that the MF4200 driver was no longer on the list), then installed the new driver (restarting my computer at every step).  I re-added the printer.
Now, it doesn't work at all. When I try to print, I get the following message: "Canon UFR II Printer Driver / Cannot communicate with the printer, or the printer is not supported. If the printer is supported, check the printer connection and add it again, then start Printer Utility to get the printer information."
I tried adding the printer using the Generic PostScript Printer driver, and when I print, it says that it is printing and I get no errors, but nothing prints.
Now, I can't print at all, and no one at Canon or Apple has been able to solve the problem.
    Please help.

First, delete the print queue in the Print & Scan preference pane, if you haven't already done so.
    Back up all data.
Triple-click the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/Caches/Canon/CUPSCAPT/CCPD/ccpd.conf
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu. A Finder window should open with a file selected. Move the selected file to the Trash. You may be prompted for your login password.
    Recreate the print queue.

  • Canon MP620 Printer drivers outdated with installation of OS X Snow Leopard

I have a 2009 iMac running OS X 10.6.4. I uploaded 10.6.4 in Feb, and I didn't realize at the time that I could print but not scan with my Canon mp620 (Printer/scanner.) When I used the Canon app "Solution Menu" to scan, I got an error message saying that there were no drivers for my printer/scanner. Following advice I found on the topic, I guessed that the original driver software was the problem, having come with the printer before OS 10.6. I followed PAHU's instructions:
    1. Open System Preferences > Print & Fax
    2. Move your mouse over the Printers list
    3. Hold down the Control button and click the mouse (or right click if supported).
    4. Click "Reset printing system ..."
    5. Restart your Mac
This didn't solve the problem. Now I could neither print nor scan.
Then I went to Canon's online site (following DNC70's solution), but since I was working after hours, I couldn't very well contact customer support. Instead, I downloaded every MP620 driver listed on Canon's site that said compatible with OS 10.6. I now have about eight downloads. With that, I now find that I can scan and not print. I'm not sure what I've done.
Any advice? How do I straighten this out?
    -Michael

    Thanks Donald, that was it!
I knew it'd be something easy.. Now the thing I'd like to know is, how do I get rid of software that is useless to me? I'd really like not to have excess software installed, but I'm not confident that I can just go in and start trashing anything that looks like junk. (If you do that on a Windows computer, you set in motion a diabolical chain reaction that brings about the apocalypse.) I'm a pretty new Mac user. Is there an app that'll do this task?
    Thanks again!
    -Michael
