Cannot Install CS4 IM GOING CRAZY!

Hey everyone,
My problem is as follows: I cannot install any program in the CS4 Design Suite on my computer. This is not an upgrade, this is a fresh install.I know the packages are good because I installed them on my laptop with the same installers and it worked flawlessly.
I've encountered a few different issues, most of which I was able to resolve with a few minutes on google, but now I'm stuck on the same issue.
When I attempt to install, it goes through all of the steps, and once the progress bar reaches 100% it tells me the installation has failed.
The error message I receive is (this is what I get in Dreamweaver, however its essentially the same for all programs):
Adobe Dreamweaver CS4
Error:
Error 1603. Error 1335.The cabinet file 'AdobeDreamweaver10-mul1.cab' required for this installation is corrupt and cannot be used. This could indicate a network error, an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package.
Adobe Bridge CS4
Error:
Error 1603. Error 1335.The cabinet file 'AdobeBridge3All1.cab' required for this installation is corrupt and cannot be used. This could indicate a network error, an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package.
Adobe Device Central CS4
Error:
Error 1603. Error 1335.The cabinet file 'AdobeDeviceCentral2-mul1.cab' required for this installation is corrupt and cannot be used. This could indicate a network error, an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package.
Adobe ExtendScript Toolkit CS4
Error:
Error 1603. Error 1335.The cabinet file 'AdobeExtendScriptToolkit3.0.0All1.cab' required for this installation is corrupt and cannot be used. This could indicate a network error, an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package.
Adobe Extension Manager CS4
Error:
Error 1603. Error 1335.The cabinet file 'AdobeExtensionManager2All1.cab' required for this installation is corrupt and cannot be used. This could indicate a network error, an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package.
I've tried clearing out my temp folder, uninstalling, then using both the Windows Install Clean Up Utility, and the CS4 Clean Up Script. I also installed a newer version of Windows Installer. I see this is a fairly common problem, but no solution I have found in various forums, sites, etc has worked for me. I've done essentially everything I can think of short of reformatting, which I'm not totally opposed to except for the fact I lost my Vista disk a few months ago.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I had a very similar issue on a fresh installation of Windows 7, which I've detailed here. What worked for me:
Downloaded a fresh copy of the install package (mine was from Nov 2008) and unpacked it to the default location on the desktop
Deactivated and removed the registration number from one of the suite products that was installed (which deactivates the entire suite)
Uninstalled the entire CS4 suite
Rebooted
Ran the new install package from the default location (as Administrator)
Chose the default installation options
Did not enter the registration number during install
Did not touch the computer until it was done

Sigh, the cleaner does not work because I have already removed all of my Adobe software prior using Windows Utility Cleaner. I don't have any.
Try to understand that the Creative Suite Cleaner package is supposed to clean up after a previous installation, which you have said you have had.  If it's not working, perhaps it's stalling on the same problem - e.g., permissions or something - that you have created on your system and which is blocking the installation of the CS4 package afresh.
Specific error messages, including screen grabs, will be helpful.  Just coming on here with vague "it does not work" statements isn't going to get you any specific help.
What's up with your Vista setup?  Have you had to reinstall or recover the OS?  Did you change accounts?  The information in your first post above implies a permissions problem accessing the registry.

P.S., I don't know what you mean by "Windows Utility Cleaner", but it is almost universally true that general purpose registry "cleaner" utilities screw up more things than they fix.  Avoid using them!

  • Can't install 7.5, going crazy.

This is very frustrating, I've been at it for a couple of days.
Clicked to automatically upgrade Itunes. Downloaded and seemed to install fine. When I clicked on Itunes, I get an hourglass for about 2 seconds, then it dissapears. Nothing happens. Quicktime opens fine.
I uninstalled, erased files, used windows clean up utitility, reinstalled, nothing changed.
    I did everything here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93698
    No luck.
I found this post, and did everything, and still nothing:
Got it to work after spending almost the entire weekend messing about with install combinations: this is what work for me when my ipod Touch was not recognised due to "required software" not being installed...
    1) uninstall everything (i mean any iTunes or Quicktimes) fully including checking with the windows install cleanup utility
    2)restart your computer
    3) Unpackage the iTunes 7.5 bundle in a folder onto the desktop, using WinRar
    4) Install other components before the iTunes itself...
i ran QuickTime.msi, and then AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi, then AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (i don't think the order matters and im not going to
try other combinations as it's working for me!)
    5) then run iTunes.msi
    6) and after finishing, it started and recognised my iPod touch
hope this actually helps someone, as i've been reading these sites for hours.
    good luck

I'm not sure what to do. At this point I'm just going in circles. I'd like to get access to my music and use my ipod again.
In short, recurring symptoms: Click on itunes, get hourglass, nothing happens.
Oh and I tried installing an older version of Itunes I had.
    Any help/suggestions? I'm going crazy.
    Thanks for any help.

I've been fighting the same battle the past 2 days, but when I followed these numbered directions above I thought it would work. Wrong, it still said "A later version of iTunes is already installed. Installation of this version cannot continue".
One of the things I noted on the iTunes support page is that VBscript must be installed, and I thought I had it since I have the file: (C:\windows\system32\vbscript.dll).
Anyway, I downloaded VBscript 5.7 from the Microsoft web site, ran the installation, rebooted, and tried reinstalling just the iTunes.msi as described in step 5 since I'd already installed the other components. The install worked this time. I was flabbergasted! Trust me on this, I must have spent 10-12 hours trying everything to uninstall old components, clean up files & directories, and remove all possible registry entries manually, and I could not get past the error message saying I already had a newer version. Only after installing VBscript was I able to get iTunes installed and running!
It is extraordinarily frustrating to have to spend so much time and effort to run a simple software install that should have taken 10 minutes. The developers who thought it was a good idea requiring VBscript be installed on the host machine ought to flogged!

  • Cannot Install CS4.  Please Help!!

I downloaded a 10 segment CS4 package from my university software site.  My download window shows all parts were downloaded sucessfully but I cannot install.  Bear with me, I'm still in computer "tech" learning and lingo.  They are all .dmg extenstions.  When I try to open, say, part 1, there is a warning saying "no mountable file systems".  Try to open part 2, and warning says "missing parts 1,3, 9" though they are present.  I ran Adobe Support Advisor and it said that I needed to update a certain font, but wouldn't tell me which one.  I ran the download through Firefox, if that matters.  I looked through their support forums and found no help.  Can someone please help??  I've spent hours trying to install this.  I'm about ready to give up and scrap it, but I really need some of the Suite, especiallly Illustrator.

  • Cannot Install CS4 suite

I have checked these forums as well as googled the problem. Nothing helps.
I have Vista Ultimate 32 bit. Trying to install CS4. It gives me 1603 error. I followed all the guidelines.
Cleaned anything with the name adobe out of the system (even plash player and reader). Even clean script found nothing to remove
    cleaned temp folders.
    have 30g free space.
Running the install as vista administrator
    Restarted 100+ times.
    NOTHING HELPS.
This is by far the worst installation package made by adobe. CS3 was soooo much more easier and never had a slightiest problem on Vista or XP.
    PLease help. anyone

Well after several tries I may have finaly got some of it.
Followed adobe instuctions and some other points found on the web.
    Running as an Administrator,
First uninstalled the previous attempt of cs4 web premium.
Downloaded and ran Windows Cleanup tool.
Ran Adobe's Cleanup utility for cs4.
    Ran Disk cleanup,
    emptied my Recycle Bin.
Turned off UAC and Mcafee's firewall and antivirus after restarting my system.
All programs appear to have installed with the exception of Adobe Air which came up with an error during installation. Not sure how this will effect my programs, but I was able to open Photoshop and Dreamweaver. I will have to test them out and see if they work. But at least I was able to get this far.

  • Cannot install CS4 Design Premium

I am having some trouble installing Adobe CS4 Design Premium. Every time I try to install, it says "Setup Error: Setup has encountered and error and cannot continue. Contact Adobe Customer Support for Assistance." I have tried this from the CD and after moving the files onto the hard drive. I tried calling Adobe Customer support and they told me to run a cleanup utility 'WinCS3Clean' and 'Windows installer Clean up Uninstall' after uninstalling Adobe CS3 Design Premium from the computer. After that, I tried running the setup again, from the CD and HDD, and I still get the same error. After this, I tried installing the latest Windows Installer (v 4.5) and it said it was not for my system. I am running Windows Vista Ultimate 32bit. Any ideas?

    Solved!
Okay I figured out what my problem was.
Adobe CS4 (or CS3 for that matter) would not install when I am syncing files to a server. This particuar offline files server is not accessable and is being replaced, but this comptuer was pointing it's My Pictures file to a location which was inaccessable. The solution was to dig into the registry and change the path of the My Pictures folder. Specifically speaking it was this...
    Run Regedit and go to...
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \  User Shell Folders
Change the My Pictures value to %USERPROFILE%\My Docuements\My Pictures

If you're reinstalling an upgrade version of CS4, you don't need to re-install any earlier versions first - even if no Adobe software has previously been installed.
The CS4 installer will look for earlier verisons installed on your hard drive. When it does not find them, it will ask for the serial number of an earlier qualifying version. Enter the CS3 serial and the CS4 installer will continue.
You can download a fresh copy of the CS4 Trial version and activate that with your CS4 serial number

  • Cannot install CS4 Web Premium

I am having problem in installation CS4 Web Premium in my Windows Vista x64 Ultimate. I will get Internet Explorer SCript Error:

  • Can't install CS4 on Mac's root drive?

I have a Mac Pro and recently bought CS4 Production Premium.  In the list of known issues, it says "On Mac, you cannot install to the root drive. (#BG044824)"
Does that mean I cannot install CS4 on my Mac hard drive (the HD that has OSX and all the other applications)?  I have to have a 2nd Mac HD to install it on?
What exactly is a "root drive"?  I attempted to look up a definition via Google, but nothing definitive came up.
    Thanks for the help!

It meant the boot drive. If you have only one drive that is fine. It cannot be installed on a secondard drive (non-boot drive).

  • Installing CS4 on new MacBook Air

I seem to have run into a problem that no one at my nearest Apple location can figure out so hopefully someone here may have an answer. I recently purchased a MacBook Air. Previously, I had a MacBook from 2006 that had all of Creative Suite 4 downloaded onto it. I uninstalled everything on my old laptop and tried to install it on the Air. However, the programs will not install. It says I am missing certain components and therefore, cannot install. The content on the discs even seems to be different.. I remember just seeing all the applications and was able to just drag and drop before ontop the desktop to install them. This time, I have to dig through 15 folders to find the application and even then, not all of them appear.
If anyone has any suggestions at all, it would be greatly appreciated!
    - Luke

Jeff, I did not. I honestly wasn't even aware of Migration Assistant. However, my old MacBook has basically been cleared of all my previous applications and files since I was intending on selling it now since I have my new one. The disk drive in my old Macbook also does not work anymore either. The disc will literally just spin and then stop. Because of that, I cannot install CS4 back onto it either. Is there another way for it to still work?

    Hi Zmajev,
If you are having syncing issues after an update to iTunes 11.2.2.5, you may want to try updating to the most recent version (iTunes 11.3, which was just released yesterday) and see if the issues still persist. You may find the following article helpful:

A bit of repetition, mainly for the benefit of anyone else with the same issue. In your case the "for older video cards" version might be worth a try.
When cleaning folders you need to check both the Program Files and Program Files (x86) folders, which you may well have done but didn't mention in the detail above.
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The section Install missing components has advice on breaking down the iTunes installer into the individual .msi files which might prove useful if Apple Mobile Device Support won't install normally.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for performance issues or compatibility with third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
