Cannot Install CS6 Web & Design Trial...Not enough disk space?!

I have tried downloading through installer and direct downloads and I get the same message when trying to extract the files. I have 264 gig free on my HD is this not enough?!

I have tried freeing up space, cleaned and defragged HD, one thing I am not understanding is the memory I see when I start the task manager.

  • Clean Install G4 Dual 1 GHz-Not enough Disk Space Error? -SLOW USB copies

    HELP puhleeeeze!
This seems to be an issue on various sites with no one being able to figure out what is the cause and a solution. One person stated his problem went away with a fullwipe and clean-reinstall of everything. But this is what I did already.
What is the reason for the "Not Enough Disk Space" error message when both my hard drives have gigs of space available. If I had hair I'd be pulling it out by now!   When trying to copy a file to my 2 internal hard drives that have a lot of space available, but only by the USB port?!!
I have a Power Mac G4 Mirrored Door (MDD) Dual 1 GHz with a clean install of 10.5.8 from the Original Mac OS X Leopard DVD. Both internal hard drives are 60GB and 100GB. The hard drives were wiped clean with Disc Utilities and reformatted to Mac OS Extended (Journaled). The Power Mac only has the OS and a few music apps installed. Easily over 30 GB of space left on the the main G4 interal hard drive and about 75 GB on the other internal hard drive.
The error seems to only happen when I connect a USB flash drive to the USB port. I tried to copy a 50MB update to the desktop-"Not Enough Disk Space" error message happened.
I know that the G4 MDD Power Macs only have USB 1.0. Is this a USB 2.0 issue? Another issue is that it has very slow USB speed (dramtically slower than normal USB 1.0 copying of files. And this is only when it is successful. Is it a USB format issue? I know I couldn't get an external USB 2.0 drive to mount on the Power Mac at all. Disc Utilities could see it but it still would not mount. I have a friend who has an older G4 single processor Mac that doesn't experience these issues with its USB 1.0 ports.
    Now here's the kicker:
If I put in a CD disc in the DVD/RW drive, it copies with no problems to either hard drive. If I connect to the Power Mac  via the ethernet network, files can copy with no problems. But any USB connection -  I get a the "Not Enough Disk Space" error message. I know this is an old mac... but it's never been problematic until this latest wipe and update to Leopard 10.5.8.
Is there a solution to this? Any and all help, feedback, comments, thoughts are greatly appreciated in advance!!!

    Hello everyone,
Ok, I did the ultimate task. I erased the hard drives, AGAIN. Just to start fresh from scratch. Hard drives were erased. Did a new install of Mac OS 10.5. And all was well. I could copy with no problems. I gave the computer to my friend and all was good for a couple of days and then the issue came back again. He couldn't copy anything to his internal hard drives and we received the "Not enough disk space" error message! I was baffled. A complete hard drive erase 2 times, 2 fresh Mac OS 10.5 installs and it works for a few days and then coping to HD we got the same **** problem again! THEN - I remembered that the PRAM battery was dead on this G4 Mirrored-Door Dual 1GHz PowerMac. I had recommended that he get a new battery, because this computer would always have the incorrect date and time after every restart. So with recalling this, I had him reset the PRAM by holding down the CMD+OPT+P+R keys after a restart (start-up Chime). I had him hold the keys for at least 3 start-up-chimes. Soon as the G4 Power Mac started up everything was fine again. He was able to copy files to his hard drives again with the "Not enough disk space" error message.
So everyone! Try zapping your PRAM (resetting the PRAM) and see if this solves your problem. I told my friend to get a new PRAM battery to replace the old one that is completely dead. I have not heard back from him.  I will ask him again if the problem has come back.
If that fails: My only other solution would be to consider that it is possible that Mac OS 10.5 has a conflict or issue with the G4 Processors and maybe it is safer to install Mac OS 10.3 or 10.4. Because this problem only has occured after installing Mac OS 10.5, the highest version of the Mac OS the Dual 1GHz Mirrored-Door G4 can be installed.
    Cheers,
    B

  • "iPhone cannot be synced because there is not enough free space

I recently purchased a new computer and I used home sharing to get all of my media onto my new computer.
Every time I try to sync I get the message "The iPhone "(Insert iPhone name here)" cannot be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all of the items in the iTunes library (additional [amount of space needed] required)"
I have a 32GB iPhone and I have it set to sync my entire music library (9.3GB), selected movies (not all my movies)(9.6GB), and I also have it set to sync my apps (2.5GB).  there is 3GB of photos and 1.32GB of other, I know there is enough room on my iPhone to house all of the content I have selected to be synced but for some reason I keep getting the same message which tells me I need an addition 15.30GB.
Also I have tried to re-sync my iPhone with the old computer I used to sync it to and now I'm getting the same message I get on my new computer on the old one.  My old computer was windows as well.
I have the latest iTunes and iOS for my iPhone.  I don't know what is wrong or how to fix it.  I have tried to refer to the web and have had no results so far.  Help would be greatly appreciated.

In case anyone is interested, I found a solution.
My interpretation of the problem is that somehow the iPhone lost track of free space and this process will clear that while not losing any data or settings on the iPhone.
This will also solve the problem where iTunes has lost the app/folder layout on the iPhone.
Please note I am not a technician and make no claim that this will work for anyone else, but it did for me. The steps below are as I remember them and may not be exactly the same for everyone.
    1) Backup the iPhone - I used iTunes to backup although this may also work with iCloud but I've not tried
    2) Reset the iPhone - from settings on the iPhone (settings/general/reset (etc))
    3) Carefully follow all the steps and choose to restore when you get to that step
    4) Keep you eye on iTunes as you will have to respond there when it askes which backup set to use for the restore - it is likely that the most recent will be the one you want.
    Good luck.

  • The iPad cannot be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all of the items in the iTunes library (additional 2.53 GB required).

I purchased some children's books from iTunes on my Mac computer and then tried to sync to my iPad and received the note that " The iPad cannot be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all of the items in the iTunes library (additional 2.53 GB required)."
I do not know what steps to take to be able to free up space so I can sync these e-books to my iPad.  I do not know how to find the iTunes library on the iPad to identify what I would need to delete.
    Thanks for your guidance.

How much space is your Other using? You may be able to reduce.
How Do I Get Rid Of The “Other” Data Stored On My iPad Or iPhone?
    http://tinyurl.com/85w6xwn
With an iOS device, the “Other” space in iTunes is used to store things like documents, settings, caches, and a few other important items. If you sync lots of documents to apps like GoodReader, DropCopy, or anything else that reads external files, your storage use can skyrocket. With iOS 5, you can see exactly which applications are taking up the most space. Just head to Settings > General > Usage, and tap the button labeled Show All Apps. The storage section will show you the app and how much storage space it is taking up. Tap on the app name to get a description of the additional storage space being used by the app’s documents and data. You can remove the storage-hogging application and all of its data directly from this screen, or manually remove the data by opening the app. Some applications, especially those designed by Apple, will allow you to remove stored data by swiping from left to right on the item to reveal a Delete button.

  • Application cannot start because it cannot create needed files. Not enough disk space

    Hi,
I have adobe director 11.5 and Macromedia MX 2004 versions installed in my machine. The projector created from the MX 2004 version used to work properly even after the 11.5 upgrade. I recently got the error  "Application cannot start because it cannot create needed files. Not enough disk space", whenever I run the projector. Has anyone come across this issue before?
    Thanks,
    Nandhini

Where is the projector located?  Do you have read/write permissions in that folder?  This is a problem I have seen if I am running a projector on a network share where the projector will not be allowed to save files (temp files etc) in that folder.  Even if you don;t think it needs to save these files, it will come up with this error.  Try copying the file to your local machine and see if it works better.  If you are already running it on your local machine, and in a "safe" location within your user folder, then this is not the answer you are looking for and something else is going wrong.

  • IPod cannot be updated because there is not enough free space

iPod cannot be updated because there is not enough free space to hold all of the songs in the iTunes music library. But my iPod does not show any songs. This all strated when I plugged the iPod in to the computer to charge it. I lost my songs on the iPod and cannot update it my play list. My iPod shows up in my iTunes, and show that there is songs there. But why does my iPod not show the songs, it is blank. I have run the gambit today, reset reinstall, updates, the works .... Can anyone please help? I just got this thing and it was working great until this. This has been the most frustrating day I have ever had.

Auto update playlist and music. I tried waht you sugested earlier, and it gave me a diferent message. I have it working, I moved one of the folders out of the iPosd_Control and I am able to see the list in iTunes. One of the songs in the folder could have been corrupted. I thank you for your help. I still do not understand the multi folders. This is a good one for anyone else who gets that message.

  • IPod touch cannot be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all of the items in the iTunes Library

Hi, I have just transferred my whole iTunes library from my old computer to my new one and am trying to sync my iPod to the new one. However I get an error message saying "iPod touch cannot be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all of the items in the iTunes Library (additional 5.38GB required). I currently have 8.5GB free on my iPod so I don't understand why it cannot sync.

Hey Georgiarose94, If what's going on, is what I think it is, when you sync the information it's over written, it can take 2 to 3 times more space the get the info on your iPod, once it's there the info only occupies the space it needs. Kind if of like moving, when you first step in the room with boxes of stuff there's no room. But after you get everything put away all is well. If you haven't already, connect your iPod to your computer, from your iPod Summary page, go down to Options and check reduce bit rate to (select 128 kbps). (Wording maybe a little different). Will greatly reduce memory space needed on your iPod, and you really do not hear the difference in sound quality. Other option, go to music and select manual so you can pick which music you place on the iPod. You need to reduce by 5.38GB of information to finish your download. Hope this helps. Cheers.

  • Question I have a dilemma . I added a lot of songs in my iTunes now when I synced my ipod this message appear "Elma's ipod cannot be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all the items in the iTunes library (additiona

I addesd a lot of songs in my itunes, now when I synced my ipod this message appear "elma's ipod cannot be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all the items in the itunes library (additional 382m is required). Then I uncheck a lot of song and synced my ipod again same message appeared. Do I need to buy a new ipod with more memories? Somebody told me to check apply after I unchecked some of the songs but I cannot find the word APPLY. please help I'm not a very technical person.

The Sync button becomes the Apply button, if you change the iPod's settings in iTunes.  If you are only unchecking songs in the iTunes music library, you click on the Sync button.
When you select the iPod in iTunes, you see the iPod's Summary screen on the main part of the iTunes window.  There is a checkbox there for Sync only checked songs.  Did you check that checkbox?  If you want iTunes to ignore the songs you unchecked when syncing your iPod, that setting needs to be enabled.  If you change that setting, you'll see the the Sync botton has changed to Apply.  Click Apply.
That method of unchecking songs works, but it may become annoying over time, as you need to uncheck more and more songs.  If you want advice on some other more convenient ways to make it work, you can post back.

  • "The iPod ... cannot be synced because there is not enough free space.."

    Error Message:
"The iPod... cannot be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all of the items in the iTunes library (additional 21.62 GB required)."
I moved my iTunes library FROM a Win 7 32bit HD to a new Win 7 32bit HD.
On the old HD  iTunes  uses 145GB of HD space.
On the new HD iTunes uses  145GB of HD space.
On both instances of iTunes I have selected "Convert higher bit rate songs to 128 kbps AAC"
My iTouch is a 3rd gen. 64GB unit.
In the past I would only take 75% of the available space. Now I am short 22GB.
         What am I missing?
    TIA,

    Appears to be fixed.
Moved all music recorded at 128bit or less to different location.
Moved video files to different location.
Synced sections of iTunes collection individually: Only Music, then Podcasts, etc.
Seems to be working fine.  Apps also came over without changes.
????  Only thing missing is my PLAYLISTS.
????    Someone know where they reside on my old HD list and why they did not come over?

  • The iPod cannot be updated because there is not enough free space to hold..

My nano has been working fine until recently, when the following error has come up each time I plug it in:
The iPod cannot be updated because there is not enough free space to hold all of the songs in the iTunes music library, would you like iTunes to choose a selection of songs to copy to this iPod.
This would make sense except that I have my iPod set on Manual Upload of my songs, so iTunes shouldn't even be trying to move all the songs on my iTunes library on to my iPod. I reinstalled iTunes but still no change. The Automatic Upload of my Podcast feature doesn't work as before, and I don't have that many podcasts, and about 250 mb of free space. Anyone know why Manual Upload isn't working right?

The reason why all this is probably happening is because you either have no memory on ur ipod or u have so many songs that in ur itunes that ur ipod cant hold all such as if u have a 1050 songs say and ur ipod only holds 1000 or less then that message would be coming up but dont worry about its just telling u and saying it wants u to get a bigger ipod : )

  • The ipod "ipod" cannot be updated because there is not enough free space...

I am unable to update my ipod nano and get the message "The ipod "ipod" cannot be updated because there is not enough free space to hold all of the songs in the selected playlists." Huh? I have the 4GB nano and currently have 3.55GB used and 181MB free. There are 982 songs (3.8GB) in my "ipod selection." I have no idea why the nano will not update - I recently downloaded the latest update for ipod/itunes on 3/1/06. Can anyone help with this? I have no other playlists checked to update in preferences and cannot figure this out. Very frustrating.
