Cannot Install "Error writing to file:..."

Hello,
I have been using iTunes and Quicktime for quite sometime now. i recently attempted to upgrade to the latest version and received this error:
Error writing to file: C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QTSystem\QuickTimeVR.Resources\sa.lproj\QuickTimeVRLocalized.qt r. Verify that you have access to that directory.
I have tried uninstalling iTunes and Quicktime as well as conducted several virus and spyware tests with no luck.
This is quite frustrating as I cannot install nor use iTunes so I have no way of syncing my iPod.

That sort of message citing that sort of program file (in this case it looks like it might be a file in your Spanish language resources) is usually caused by that file being damaged in some way.
The damage is often caused by disk damage near the file. So let's try running a chkdsk over the C drive:

Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, does an itunes install go through properly afterwards?

    Hello,
    I'm trying to install LabView and I keep stumbling on this error: "Error writing to file: C:\Windows\system32\cvrite\bin\English\cviengerror.ver"
    I've tried reinstalling the application a few times while running the installer as an admin but to no avail. I've checked that the directory is created and I was able to add new files to it and delete them so I don't think this is a permition problem. I'm thinking the PC needs a third party software updated but I have no clue which one it is. Does anybody have an idea on how to proceed?

    I am Collin de Wit, an Application Engineer at National Instruments. If I undertsand correctly you are trying to install LabVIEW 2014 (64 bit) and during that installation you are receiving this error?
    There are at this moment three things we can verify:
    - Is there any anti virus software turned one which might block this feature during installation?
    - Are you running the installer as Admin or are you logged in as an Admin? (This is a difference for windows)
    - Is this a clean install, or are there older versions or other versions of LabVIEW installed on this computer?

  • 7.0 won't install, error writing to file

    Received the following 7.0 install error on Toshiba laptop with Win XP Tablet Ed.
    Error writing to file C:\ProgramFiles\iTunes\iTunes.Resources\fr.lproj\iPodHelp.chm
    Verify that you have access to that directory.
    Hangs same place each install attempt and can't bypass or ignore, only cancel.
    Any ideas welcome

    for what it is worth, i believe that that means it is hanging up on resources relating to the french language version of the ipodhelp documentation in your itunes help menu.
    try navigating to
    C:\ProgramFiles\iTunes\iTunes.Resources\fr.lproj\iPodHelp.chm
    ... and deleting that file.
    does the install go through properly after doing that?

    I've been using iTunes on this particular windows xp pro box since iTunes became available and have never had a problem until I allowed the upgrade.
    I am getting the following error dialog during the "copying files" portion of the install:
    "Error writing to file: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\etc\zoneinfo\Africa\Abidan. Verify that you have access to that directory."
    I have spent quite a bit of time trying to figure this one out. I've scanned for viruses, I've run CHKDSK, I've killed all non essential processes, etc. but continue to get this error message each time I attempt an install.
    I've read through the other posts that were similar but wondered if anyone else has seen this particular problem and been able to overcome the error. I know I could do a clean install, but have so much time invested in this current OS build that I'd rather spend some time trying to solve this. Any help out there would be greatly appreciated.

    I can't see the file (with hidden files turned on) unless I boot from another partition. Then I can see it, delete it, or whatever I want to do, but once I go back in and do a reinstall, I get the same problem. I've even tried to use Process Manager to try to figure it out, but so far nothing...
    It really felt like a disk problem but chkdsk reports nothing and I've had no other problems except this.

    If you uninstall your Firefox, and then try the install again, does the iTunes install go through? (If it does, reinstall your Firefox.)

    I have Adobe 7 Pro that needs to be installed on a Win7 machine that is not supported by Adobe.  They provide a CS2 version with a new serial number for replacement of my product since my product cannot be activated anymore.
    When I try to install it, I get the following error after the install process has started.
    Error 1310.Error writing to file: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\Active X\AcroPDF.DEU.  Verify that you have access to that directory.
    I am the admin for my machine and I also tried installing their version as the admin as well.
    Any help on getting thru this?

    Acrobat 7 is not supported on windows 7.
    But you might want to refer to the troubleshooting steps mentioned in the KB Doc : http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/error-1310-error-writing-file.html
    Error 1310 is usually related to insufficient permissions on the folder. Please try enabling the hidden Admin account on Windows 7 and try installing the software and check.

  • Help please! error writing to file cannot download itunes...cant fix!

    i really dont know what to do... i just got my computer a couple of months and something must have happened when i downloaded it the first time. i few times after using is i was having problems it said something about a corrupt file. So logically i thought to uninstall and then reinstal. but since then i have been dealing with this problem for a couple of weeks.
    installation will go well for a while (a couple of minutes) then i will this error.
    Error writing to file: C:\programfiles\commonfiles\apple\mobiledevicesupport\bin\AOSutils.dll
    then its says please verify that you have access to that directory.
    i have tried so many things and really dont know what to do. this cannot be manually deleted either.
    any advice would be appreciated!

    Let's first try running a chkdsk over your C drive. There's Windows 7 instructions in the following document. Select both "automatically fix file system errors" and "scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors" or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you choose to go about things). You should be prompted to schedule the scan to run on restart. That sort of scan of the C drive should take a long time ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan:

    When I updated to iTunes 10 yesterday, it updated fine, but when I went to run it today, it had to configure. It was almost completed when I got the error "Error writing to file: C\Program Files\iTunes\iTunes.Resources\ru.lproj\IPod touch License.rtf". I tried to access the file, but it says the file cannot be found.
    I uninstalled iTunes, and went to re-install it, but at about the same time I get the exact same error.

    Did you guys finally find solution to the problem?
    I have been trying to install Oracle 9.2.0.1 on redhat 8.0 box, for ages now. I get the following error first during install
    Error in writing to file libclntsh.so.9.0
    Then it is a series of errors, similar.
    In the end there is the dreaded linking error... for the ins_rdbms.mk sdo_on
    i just cant handle it.
    What the hell is wrong?
    I have done everything right as far as i know... any solutions?

  • Error1304. Error writing to file while trying to install Reader 8.1.2

    I get the following messages when trying to install Adobe Reader 8.1.2 for website.
    Error1304.Error writing to file c:\Program files\Adobe\Reader 8.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe. Verify that you have access to that directory.
    Then it give me options to RETRY or CANCEL. When I retry it says the same thing.
    I have unistalled previous reader, restarting system then tried once again to install and still get the same error message.
    What do I need to do? It is unfortunate that many people are having issue of one kind or another downloading and installing the reader.
    Please help for I need this for working purposes.

    Check whether the folder c:\Program files\Adobe\Reader 8.0\Reader
    exists. Does it exist?
    If so, look whether the file acrord32.exe exists in that folder. Does
    it exist? If so, try and delete it. Can you?
    If it doesn't exist. Try and create a file by that name. Can you?
    In each case, if you get an error message, what is it?

    I am getting the following error when I try to Install the demo of 3.4.1:   Error 1304. Error writing to file   C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Cameraraw\CameraPRofiles\Camera\Nikon d40X\Nikon D40X Camera D2X Mode 2.dcp.  Verify that you have access to that directory.
    I though I changed access but it will not access when I hit  Retry.  Any suggestions?  Thanks  Alan.

    Beat:  I ran as Administrator and tried downloading a second program  Same thing.  Then I check I I saw the file was Hidden so I inchecke
    d that.  Same thing.  Then I checked the Nikon D40X folder and tried to explore it.  I got a message that the files were corrupted
    .  So apparently LR3 couldn't get in there.  SO I tried to delete that file.  No good.
    So now what?  What created that file in the first place?  Maybe I have to re-install that program.  Ignoring it as an option doesn't work.  It just ends the installatiopn of LR3.
    Any suggestions?
