Cannot install fcp because of lack of rights

Although I am the only user on my MacBookPro I cannot enter and store the serial upon installation of FCP. I am repetedly told that I do not have sufficient user rights for this. So FCP is installed, asks for a serial upon start and quits because of the problem described above.
What do I have to do? There is no other user on this Mac.
I transferred all data from my PowerBook G4 to the new one. Might this cause the trouble?
Thanks for help

Thanks for your support Terence.
I found the solution in the mean time. May be it´s interesting for somebody else as well, so I post it here:
Assuming you are admin, go to Macintosh HD / Library / Application Support / ProApps / directory and remove the "FCP System ID" or "Final Cut Studio System ID" file.
Best regards.

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Cannot install FCP X on Mac Pro (2,1).  Graphics card issue.

I have a Mac Pro 2,1 (2 x 3 Ghz Quad Xeon, 16 GB RAM, and ATI Radeon X1900 XT (512 MB)) AND I cannot install FCP X.  It says graphics card not supported. What do I need to run FCP X?  If I need a better GPU, what card is recommended for this machine?  It's hard to believe I can run the software on my Macbook Air but not my Mac Pro supercomputer...

Radeon HD 5770 (as inserted into the current MacPros) will do it. Make sure it's the unit bought from Apple, not a big box store.
Plenty of discussions about it, here's one:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2544029?start=0&tstart=0
Your "super computer" is more of a super computer than mine, but it did start life in 2007. Things have moved on... your MacPro isn't obsolete, by any means... in fact your original graphics card is probably just about to give up anyway! Mine did last year (I had an older card in a MP 1.1) and am glad I changed it.

  • Cannot install applications because the certificate for .... is not valid

    Hello,
We have an in house enterprise app that can no longer update.  We have taken the steps outlined here.  These steps include installing a SSL certificate on the server from a trusted CA (GeoTrust) that shows as valid in Safari on OSX.  Also the http to https redirect has been setup and verified in Safari and FireFox.  Addtionally, the plist file's XML has been manually updated to point HTTPS.  New installs work on iOS 7.1 without an issue.
However, the program has automatic updates that fail with the message "Cannot install applications because the certificate for .... is not valid".
The update process works like this:
A Plist file exists on the server that contains the version number of the build on the server.   The app will download the file and parse it into a NSDictionary then the verison into an NSString.  If the version doesn't match the current version then the user is prompted to install updates.
When the user says yes to the prompt a UIApplication is sent the Open URL message with a hard coded download URL that looks like this:
    imts-services//?action=download-manifest&url=http://www.example.com/app/Release.plist
On iOS 7.1 the user will receive the message "Cannot install applications because the certificate for example is not valid".   This error occurs even thought the certificate is valid.  It almost looks like the URL isn't respecing the redirect from the server.
Has anyone else seen this?  Is there a work around for it?  Or do I have to redeploy the app (with an HTTPS in the hard coded URL)?

kkoishi, cskimble, OS 7.1 update forced all software installation services to use the HTTPS protocol instead of HTTP. Here is Apache config that adds certificate support and code for changing links in existing *.plist files automatically: http://cases.azoft.com/how-to-fix-certificate-is-not-valid-error-on-ios-7/

  • Firefox tries to install update then says cannot install update because you have to close another Firefox window, repeats every minute. Doesn't stop.

Update cannot install, says I must close any other Firefox window. (%LOCALAPPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Mozilla Firefox\updates)
    Do a clean reinstall:
    * Download a fresh Firefox copy from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html and save the file to the desktop.
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
    * Don't remove personal data when uninstalling.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere (not in the Firefox program folder) and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

  • Cannot install hamachi because of previous version

I am on Windows 7 x64 and I am attempting to install the newest hamachi, but I cannot because hamachi says it found a previous version which I attempted to uninstall but it refuses telling me it cannot find hamachi-update.exe located in windows appdata and whatnot. So I removed all registry entries and files on my computer dealing with the search terms hamachi and logmein, but I still cannot install the newest hamachi because it gives me this error
LogMeIn Hamachi version [PREVIOUSVERSION] has been detected on your computer. Would you like to proceed with an update?
if i click no the installation closes if I click yes i get another error
The older version of LogMeIn Hamachi cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group.
Then the installation fails. There are no hamachi services in msconfig or task manager, and it is not still being detected as a network adapter so I assume it is no longer on my system. Now I need to find what files might be left over on my system that still cause the installer to find an old version of hamachi can anyone help me?

  • Cannot install program because newer version already exists?

    Hello,
I'm trying to install fontographer but it says it cannot install on this disk because a newer version of the program is already installed.
I find this quite strange because I've completely removed every single file of the other version, but still it says it's installed.
Anyone knows how I can solve thi problem?
Many thanks to anyone who is willing to help me.
    Greetz,
    Finn.

Use the developers method to completely uninstall the newer version of the program.
Sometimes a program will leave it's preference files because you might be uninstalling and reinstalling the same version to fix a software issue. The older version see's the newer version preference files and gives the errors.
Use the free Easy Find and find the programs file(s) and/or just remove them from your ~/Library/Preferences folder by Finder > Go to Folder > /Library/Preferences
There may be files in other locations as well. Perhaps it's best to ask the developer where all the files are for completel removal.

A .exe file is a windows executable file and will not run on a Mac unless you have virtual PC installed.

  • I cannot install Firefox because a previous version is installed. I try to uninstall it and it asks to restart computer. When I restart, same problem. I'm stumped for what to do at this point.

Alright, in detail, I haven't used Firefox for a while because my old version stopped working. Not sure what happened to it or why but, long story short, I ended up going back to IE(ugh) and never looked back.
Sometime later, an update was installed to it and somewhere in the restart process it apparently lost track of what it was doing and is now stuck there.
I recently tried to download Firefox anew, it prompts me to restart the computer BEFORE trying to do any kind of install work and if I choose to restart, it does nothing but restart my PC and fail to do what it's supposed to. If I decline to restart, it closes the installer completely.
In short, Firefox is still apparently on my computer without actually being usable. It's in my installed programs list but I can't uninstall it without the restarting thing which, again, doesn't ever accomplish anything and I need to know HOW to remove it totally while also bypassing that restart junk.

Thanks for the help! How the **** are we supposed to know that we have to swipe the **** mini pages up instead of clicking the **** wiggling button???
I mean ***? Are we mind readers? EVERY time I leave a page I now have to sign in again and again. Apple is just BEGGING people to go get a nice Samsung mini laptop for LESS $.
    I don't get it.
Since you, and others who were nice enuf to answer (thanks so much!! For doing Apples CS work for them for free BTW)
    Maybe someone can answer this:
I take a lot of pix for eBay, sometimes 3-400 at a time. When I delete photos it's usually 1,000 at a time, and I assure you I'm not exaggerating. Up until now I was able to take the END pic and swipe the whole row and check 7 pix quickly. With the new ios7 I am unable to do it anymore (yet ANOTHER reason I don't want this 'improved' OS).
Does ANYONE know of a way to choose many pix at once to move or delete or whatever? Remember the old windows system where you could choose one pic, click it then hit SHIFT and click a lower one and it would highlight them all, in between, for a quick delete.
How can I highlight pix other than one at a time? There MUST be a way! And since I'm lacking a **** crystal ball I'm stuck. Help? And THANKS guys, really!
