Cannot Install HP C4680 Printer to New iMac with OSX v10.6.2

I've followed the HP install directions to a tee (for Macs, connect USB before inserting install CD). I've also tried workarounds online ((a) connect USB after install but before set up and (b) turn off computer and printer and reboot and (c) attempt to install from System Preferences). I've also uninstalled and then downloaded installer and new drivers from the HP website and attempted to do (a), (b) and (c) with the downloaded installer and new drivers.
Nothing works. The install goes fine, but when I reach set up, my printer is not listed. When I check the box that says "my printer is not listed" (or something very similar to that), I get a message saying that if my printer is not listed, then I have the wrong installer and need to get the correct installer. However, no matter how many times I uninstall and reinstall the "correct" download from the HP website, I am stuck in "Groundhog Day."
I've been trying to install this printer for three days now. Any solutions would be very appreciated.

Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Have you run Software Update? If not, you should and install the updates suggested. Note whether there is an HP printer driver update amongst the suggested updates. If there is, go ahead and let SU do the update for you. You should have your printer connected and switched on throughout this process.
After this go to System preferences/Print & Fax and see whether your printer is listed. If it is there might be 2 mentions - one for FAX the other for print.
Let's know what all this shows.

  • I am using a new imac with osx lion 10.7.5 and have bought a copy of Apple iLife 11 on dvd a so that I can install iWeb and idvd, when I click on install iLife I get a message saying "iLife.kpg was signed with an invalid certificate

I am using a new imac with osx lion 10.7.5 and have just bought Apple iLife 11 on dvd so that I can install iWeb and iDVD, as macs no longer ship with these apps. When I click on install iLife I get a message saying "iLife.kpg was signed with an invalid certificate.
Next problem is that when moving through the installer and get to custom install, as I only want to install iDVD and iWeb, I am presented with the option to install iDVD, Sounds & Jingles and iWeb, but not sure what is going on with the other 3 options iLife Support etc, they seem to be greyed out but still look like they may install over the top of the newer versions already on my imac. Is it ok for me to just go ahead and hit install? Or do I have a problem?

Yep, just install iDVD (plus sounds and jingles) and iWeb if you want it (but note that iWeb apparently won't work if you upgrade to Mountain Lion).
Then use Software Update to get any late iDVD updates.

  • Wacom Intuos Tablet and Pen not working on new iMac with OSX 10.9.4

Hi there, I've been using an A3 Wacom Intuos tablet and pen for many years now on a 2006 iMac for my illustration work, but I cannot get them to appear or work on my new iMac with OSX 10.9.4.  I think they are the original Wacom Intuos tablet and pen.  Does anyone know if they are just out of date now and aren't supported on the new OSX 10.9.4?  Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I need to work and it's frustrating!
    Many thanks,
    Steve

I have done as you suggested; I uninstalled PSE 11 and set my wife's account up as admin and reinstalled from there. Still have the same problem with my wife's account, but when I went to mine it is working correctly. Any ideas on why that would be? I'm sure it should work on both accounts. I have 2 accounts on my Mac Mini running OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard and it works on both.
Thanks for your help; at least it's working on my account so that's a great improvement.

    no.
    follow advice given here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2281
basicly: think twice before setting any checkboxes and hitting any 'install' button
I would try the installer disks of your G5.. probably contains iMHD6 ..

  • My Mac Mail constantly asks for our passwords before opening our accounts.  New iMac with OSX Maverick

My Mac Mail constantly asks for our passwords before opening our accounts.  New iMac with OS x Maverick.  We get messages such as " Mail can't connect.  Appears to be offline due to network problems." or "The connection to the server (null) in port ) timed out."  I have confirmed server connections OK with Cox Communication and our Cox Webmail accounts.

    Hi Bob13524,
Man, that definitely sounds frustrating! And it sounds like this issue is occurring with several accounts, so let’s see if we can troubleshoot this. The following resource provides some great information for troubleshooting Mail issues, including information on using the Connection Doctor:

  • Cannot install Photoshop CS4 onto a new iMac

I have just bought a new iMac and want to put my Photoshop CS4 on it. It has previously been on my 5 year old MacBook Pro. I have downloaded the .dmg file from the adobe website but as soon as I open it up and click on the setup icon a pop up opens saying "Cannot Install Please click the Quit button". This all happens before I am given the option to put in a product key. I have just done the same process with Lightroom 2 and it worked fine. Any ideas?

Yes, it seems you are downloading the wrong thing.
Try downloading from here : http://prodesigntools.com/download-adobe-cs4-and-cs3-free-trials-here.html

  • Transferring files from OS9 to new iMac with OSX

    Hi,
I'm one of the (very) slow ones to upgrade. Just got my new iMac G5, and want to move my data and files over from my iMac G3 400 hrz graphite. I've got an ethernet network set up, but looking thru various instructions, I'm told that OS 10.4 won't allow transfers using Appletalk and I think it's telling me I need to go thru tcp/ip. I"m not finding any info that tells me how to do this. Anyone have the know-how, or can point me to find it?
    Thanks, I hope---
    marshgoose

I do have the original Graphite, then.
Thanks for all the responses! I did do the transfer with a Firewire, and all is well (after freezing the G5 screen into a gray-chroma vertical line pattern--must have moved a corrupted file into it. Necessitated a nice little talk with India tech and several passes with Disk Doctor on the G3, but I think it's sorted out now. Just the usual New Computer Cakewalk.
    Appreciate the help!

  • Cannot install Snow Leopard on Late 2006 iMac with 10.5.8

I tried already two times to update my iMac (currently on OS X Leopard 10.5.8) to Snow Leopard. The update process runs for about 20 minutes. The iMac restarts, and then there's a message that Snow Leopard cannot be installed. One shall contact the software's manufacturer. I checked in the Installer log file and it says something like it could not u(n)mount a volume.
There are 2 external hard drives connected to the iMac via FireWire (one for TimeMachine). Do I have to disconnect them before installing? There's also a TV tuner (DVB-S) from Terratec connected via USB and EyeTV (a version compatible to Snow Leopard) is installed. I already thought that it is maybe the EyeTV software (that came with the Terratec tuner) that prevents the installer from proceeding ...
As stated, I gave it two tries:
The first time I booted the iMac from an external hard drive with 10.5.8 installed on it, ran disk utility to check, repair permissions and verify the iMac's internal disk (--> everything was fine) and then inserted the Snow Leopard DVD and launched the installer.
The second time I booted the iMac from its internal hard disk (with 10.5.8) (=the disk on which I wanted to install Snow Leopard), inserted the DVD and launched the installer.
    No success in both cases.
    Any suggestions, help ??
    Thanks a lot in advance!
    Rainer

I think it will work if you restart from the Snow Leopard installation disc. Insert disc. Restart with the C key held down to force startup from the optical drive. You have already done a +Repair Disk+, which is a smart move before doing any system installation. So when Installer comes up, just proceed with the installation targeting your internal drive.

  • I have a new imac with osx 10.6.8 and can't get letter box to open in the mail window with 3 columns.  I have downloaded the latest version and it also didn't open in 10.6.7.  Any ideas?

Letterbox downloads and installs and is enabled, but does not produce the 3 columns in the mail window.  I had the same problem with 10.6.7 and now 10.6.8.  The download is the latest version (0.24b9) and the forums indicated that it works with both osx versions.  I have tried deleting the letterbox plug-in and then reinstalling, but still no luck with the 3 column mail page.  Any ideas would be most welcome.  Thanks

i just fixed this on my machine running 10.6.8. the typical workaround is to add appropriate UUIDs, which get updated with each new os build, and break plugins (see here). Follow those instructions, but instead of adding the UUIDs they suggest for 10.6.7, add these (I found them on my machine running 10.6.8, and they work):
    064442B6-53C0-4A97-B71B-2F111AE4195B
    588FF7D1-4310-4175-9980-145B7E975C02
for fixing on os x version 10.6.7, this may help (though letterbox 0.24b9 should work already).
i emailed the author (aaron harnly, harnly.net) about this, but haven't heard back (a few days). to be sure, i am quite grateful, as i think we all are, for his excellent plugin, and this workaround is quite simple for dealing with updates.

  • Can't load firefox on my new iMac with lion

when i go to your download pack and click download, nothing happens. I also use safari which works. i have always used firefox as an alternate. can't seem to get it loaded on my new iMac.

    No.
CS2 was written for old Macs with PowerPC processors running OS X 10.2.8 to 10.3.8.
You cannot install or run CS2 on new Macs with Intel processors running current versions of OS X.
