Cannot install iMovie HD 6

I've searched Discussions and could not find anyone with a similar problem that was resolved so I'm starting this post.
I've tried downloading iMovie HD 6 (v 6.0.4) and I get the error message "iMovie HD cannot be installed on this system. Please install iLife '08 before installing iMovie HD 06."
iLife '08 came pre-installed on my iMac. I've used iMovie 7 from iLife '08 and want to try iMovie HD 6, which a lot of people say has more functionality. Any ideas on how I can get the install to work?
I'm running Mac OS X 10.5.5. Space is not an issue, I have approximately 400 gb free on my hard drive.

I found the Receipts folder.
Here is what I found related to iLife'08.
iDVD_702.pkg
iLifeMediaBrowser.pkg
iMovie_711.pkg
iMovie_712.pkg
iMovie_714.pkg
iPhoto_711.pkg
iPhoto_712.pkg
iPhoto_713.pkg
iPhoto_714.pkg
iWeb_203.pkg
iWeb_204.pkg
One other thing - I'm not sure it matters but would registration play a role? Since iLife was preinstalled I did not register each product - just the iMac when I got it. Since nothing else was working with this download I tried to register iLife'08 but it wants a Marketing Product Number which is on the box. Since mine was preinstalled there is no box. I also checked under the System Profiler but no such number was listed.

  • Cannot install iMovie HD update 6.0.1 on my iMac G5

    Hi all -
I'm running on 10.4.5, and have iMovie HD 5.0.2 installed.
When I try to install iMovie HD 6.0.1, I get the alert "cannot install on this volume. An eligible iMovie HD application was not found in the location Applications/iMovie HD.app"
Did I miss the 6.0.1 boat by only having 5.0.2?
Do I need to purchase 6.0?
    Thanks.
    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

    sirstewart,
Assuming you have an iMac with the built-in iSight, you're sort of right that you need iMovie HD 6.
Here are some workaround tips (admittedly not very satisfactory):
    http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20051217210335199
iMovie HD 5 does work with the stand alone version of the iSight camera.
    My advice: Buy iLife '06!

  • Cannot install iMovie apps

I cannot install the Apps iMovie, anyone who can help!

    Hello babowa,
    thanks for your message.
My DVD with "Applications Install DVD" I have from the beginning (my mac is from 2010, but bought at the beginning of 2011). There is no information about iLife, but DVD version is:
    > AHT version 3A192
    > Disc version 2.0
    > 2Z691-6770-A
This installation package was created in November 2010.
I think I shouldn't update my OS to 10.6.8 before installation of these apps.
    More information:
    I have 2 dvd's (1st with OS 10.6.4 and 2nd with apps).
    Hope to hear you again.
    Regards,

  • Cannot install imovie on iphone 4

    Hi,
My daughter has an phone 4 (no SIM card), and am trying to install imovie.
The phone has IOS 7.1.2, which itunes says is up to date.
All information I can find says imovie should run on iphone 4, but I keep getting the error message:
'Imovie was not installed because it requires a newer version of the iphone software.'
Does anyone know if I can run this app?
Thanks for your time and help.
    Ben

Hi.  I found away to avoid the whole App Store issue.  Here is the video on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BAzZtaV2sk4
If you go to http://passsource.com/ from Safari on your phone.  Create an account.  Then start creating passes.  They will show up in your Passbook app next time you open it.  I tested it out with a Target gift card - worked great.
(NOTE:  I had changed the time to a year ahead and forgot to change it back before I tested this but I wouldn't think it would matter.)

  • Installing iMovie 7.0.1

I am trying to install iMovie 7.1.0. I have iMovieHD 6.0.3. When I try the install from iLife '08, I get the message: "You cannot install iMovie Update 7.1 on this volume. An eligible iMovie application was not found in the location / Applications."
The requirements for the install are iMovieHD 7.0.1. I cannot find any download sites for iMovieHD 7.0.1. Is there a work around for installing the latest iMovie (iMovie 7.1.0)?
I have OS 10.4.10 on a G4 DP 1.25 GHz with 2 GB RAM. Thanks very much.
    Eric

I have iLife '08. I bought it specifically to solve the iMovie upgrade issue I had. But the installer will not install iMove 7.1.0. When I try the install from iLife '08, I get the message: "You cannot install iMovie Update 7.1 on this volume. An eligible iMovie application was not found in the location / Applications."
The requirements for the install are iMovieHD 7.0.1. I have iMovie 6.0.3. I tried re-installing iMovie 6.0.3 from my iLife '06 disk and trying again to install iMovie 7.1.0 but I get the same message. I think I need iMovieHD 7.0.1. I cannot find any download sites for iMovieHD 7.0.1. Thanks for your help,

  • Can't install imovie

I had it installed them when an update came up said I needed more space so opened up 1gb and uninstalled iMovie and now can't install at all - how large is the app??? I purchased it so would like to have it on

If iMovie 08 is not installed, you cannot install iMovie HD6 from the free download.
I don't think that this is correct. My iMac has the PowerPC chip, and therefore IMovie 08 could not be installed. Installation of the rest of the iLife 08 suite was completed without a problem. Once that was done, I learned (I forgot how) that I could get a free download of iMovie HD 6. The only difficulty that I encountered was what I described in my previous post, which was not finding the new program in the dock.

  • Can't install iMovie HD 6 even though i have iLife '08

i have iLife '08, yet i cannot install iMovie HD 6 (i downloaded it from the support site). What could be wrong?

  • Cant install iMovie 10 after Mavericks urgrade

    Hi guys
I have a 2011 MBP which came pre installed with iMovie, i have upgraded to every iteration of OS X and have always been able to use iMovie afterwards. But now i have upgraded to Mavericks, i cannot install iMovie to my computer. When i go into my purchases it says 'Accept', I click it and it asks for my ID etc but it still wont download and still says accept.
The thing i think is the problem is I reset my computer to factory settings a few days before i upgraded to Mavericks
    help please

I have the same problem. iMovie was find on the Developer Preview but upgrading via App Store from ML results in this "Accept" thing for iMovie. Hopefully someone posts something soon.

  • I cannot install updates for iMovie, or iPhoto.

I cannot install updates for iMovie, or iPhoto. It keeps telling me "You have updates for available for other accounts. To update this application sign into the account you used to purchase it."  The thing is, I am logged into the only Apple ID account that I have.
What do I need to do to fix this?
I have a MacBook Pro, with a Retina Display.

No I did not.  These apps came with the MacBook Pro I recently purchased.  I merely logged into the AppStore and checked for updates.  Updates for iMovie and iPhoto both showed up and I clicked on update all and I got the message "You have updates for available for other accounts. To update this application sign into the account you used to purchase it."

  • How do I install iMovie '06 on my iMac?

I have the original iLife '06 and am having a problem installing iMovie '06 on my iMac 3.06, 2GB, running Mac OSX 10.5.8. I thought I had installed it, but when I booted it, this message popped up. "You cannot open the application “iMovie HD” because it is not supported on this architecture". I tried to install it again, using the "custom" install, but the name is gray and it cannot be selected. Could someone state the step by step installation instructions. I must be missing something.
    Thanks, Rick

I tried the easy way as suggested by Silly rabbit and installed iMovie '06, but it altered iDVD, and now iDVD will not launch. The way I did it was: 1. booted the iLife '06 installation disk; 2. Moved iMovie '09 and iMovie '08 to the desktop; 3. Selected iMovie '06 from the "Custom" install option; 4. and clicked "Install". While iMovie '06 installing, I saw the iDVD icon flash a few times. After installation, I moved iMovie '09 and '08 back into the application folder and all three iMovie programs booted up, but iDVD did not. Help!

  • Installing iMovie HD from OS X 10.4.8 Install Disk to an OS X 10.5.8 Comput

My son really prefers the old iMovie HD to the iMovie (9?) that came with his computer.
I'm trying to install iMovie HD from my install disk which is version OS X 10.4.8 to his computer which is OS X 10.5.8
After I insert the install disk and choose "Install Bundled Software Only", it tells me that I cannot install this software on his computer.
Can I install an old iMovie from an old install disk to a newer computer? Please help! Thanks!

    Hi
Don't know about iMovie HD (vers. 5) but iMovie HD6 from iLife 6 should work
and I like it so much more than iM 5.
There is a bit of huzzle when trying to do this.
    • iLife'08 or 09 - HAS TO BE de-installed first
    • then install iLife 6
    • then re-install iLife'09
iMovie HD 6 and iDVD (vers. 7.0.4) called 08 or 09 - WORKS Greatly together.
    Yours Bengt W

  • I need to re-install imovie

I deleted iMovie because it was frozen, while generating thumbnails, but I can't re-install iMovie.

You cannot lose your current projects or events by reinstalling.
Still, a good rule of thumb is, "If it is important, back it up."

  • New imac--Cannot find imovie

I bought a new imac over a month ago and i cannot find imovie. I have iDVD, itunes, iphoto but not imovie. did a search on finder and all and i cannot find it. Where could it be?

That's strange. I thought all new iMacs had iMovie pre-installed and in the Applications folder as part of the iLife package. Mine did.
Maybe for some reason it wasn't installed for you and you have to do from the installation disk. Failing that get back to where you bought it from and complain I guess.
    Hope you find it.

  • Re-installing iMovie 08, how?

Please help: my iMovie, installed via Leopard dvd, does not work properly and shows a music&sounds menu bar basically different from the one showed in the training movies published by Apple. Well no one seems to be able to help me about this bug so I decided to re-install iMovie from the dvd sent to me by Apple after having bought my new iMac, but i cannot find it on the dvd. The dvd is called upgrade wen i put it in my driver. How can I solve this problem please? THNX

Recently I installed iMovie 06 on my new iMac, because I didn't like the new iMovie 08. Basically because one cannot make chapters. iMovie 06 help isn't working and iDVD doesn't work too; iDVD was installed together with iMovie 06, there was no option.
In short, I am in the same boat; I want to have iMovie 08 and iDVD 08 reinstalled. Better not so good programs than buggy or not working programs.
My new iMac came with Tiger and an upgrade DVD with Leopard. I installed Leopard and everything worked fine, until I mixed up with the iLife programs. The upgrade DVD will only install and upgrade the system with all the tools and bells. However, I already made an update to 10.5.1, so I can only made a complete reinstall ... back to 10.5.0.
Another option is to buy iLife 08 and install the (not so good) software from the DVD/CD. Probably, I will wait and look for a friend who has iLife 08 and borrow it. I don't like this behavior, I can say the 99% of my software are legally purchased copies, anyway, I do have paid for the stuff, every dime.

  • Cannot install apps (IPhoto etc) after full OS reinstallation

    Hi All,
After full MacOS reinstallation (10.6.4) I cannot install apps (IPhoto, IMovie, etc) from DVD - "Unknown error" ("Pls contact soft producer") just after admin password during instalation process.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance,
    Mark

    Hello Carolyn,
I've found finally your hint very usefull.
Actuallu the full explanation is available here :
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3866345?start=0&tstart=0
But what you've said is a part of it.
So - all pending updates must be made (several restart and update check) - after that there is no more porblem with apps instalation.
    Thank you very much!
    Mark
