Cannot Install iOS 8 even if correct IPSW used

Hi,
I cannot install the iOS8 IPSW file that I have downloaded. I had this phone as part of the developer license but that developer license has already expired and I have not renewed it. For this reason, I was not able to download the GM Seed version. I wanted to upgrade to the released version of the iOS. How can I do this?

Basically you make sure you iTunes is up to date. Then you plug your iPad in, open iTunes, click on the name of your device. THen I'd do a backup. Then download and install the update (you'll see a update button in iTunes)

An iOS update to version 7.1.1 was just released. The update servers might be too busy at the time you tried to update. ID suggest waiting until later in the day and then try again.

First make sure you are using the most up to date version of iTunes and have all the latest Windows updates/patches installed on your PC. From there, try again and if still no luck, make sure you are plugging your iPod into a high powered USB 2.0 port.
Otherwise try these steps:
1. Run “c:\WINDOWS\system32\devmgmt.msc” (i.e. *Device Manager*), and leave it open for now for later use
2. Start up iTunes
3. Next, connect your iPod.
4. Go to your iPod Settings and select the “Enable disk use” option from under theSummary tab.
5. A dialog box will pop up reminding you that you’ll need to manually eject. Go ahead and hit OK
6. Hit Apply to save changes to the iPod
7. Quickly switch to the Device Manager window and right-click on any item within the window and select “Scan for hardware changes”
8. Finally, switch back to iTunes, and try re-syncing your iPod to see if it helped.
It might not also hurt to trash your iPod's Photo cache if it has one (i.e. you sync photos to the iPod). See this article for information on where to find this folder on your Windows XP machine.

Cannot install iOS 5 despite re-installing iTunes, phone hangs at certain point

Hi there,
I cannot seem to install iOS 5 on my iPhone 4. It always hangs at a certain point in the progress bar, about a quarter of the way. I have tried unplugging it and plugging it in again, clicking "Restore and Update", but it still hangs at the same point. And yes, my iTunes is version 10.5, I have re-installed it twice now and the problem still prevails.
Can anyone help me?

Couple of possabilities,
1 - As Andea says, use the MacMini but start a new backup from your 3Gs iPhone, so that you can restore if the upgrade to IOS 5 goes pear shaped. A backup doesn't hold your Apps, Music or Movies, just the settings and App data etc.
2 - Copy your entire iTunes folder from the G3 to the Mini, then when you want to sync the iPhone all the music etc. can be kept in sync as before.
Not sure if you sync your address book, iCal and e-mail from iTunes or via the Cloud, if the former you'd need to put a copy of these also on the Mini

Cannot Install Adobe Flashplayer 9.0.16 Using SMS 2003

We are using SMS 2003 in an enterprise environment.
We have been unable to install Flash Player V9.0.16 using
SMS.
We had the same problem with Flash Player V8.0.24, and
finally gave up.
All other SMS packages we create install without difficulty,
including applications such as Adobe Reader 7x, MS Office 2003,
etc.
The error generated by SMS is:
The program for advertisement "MNG20107" failed ("MNG00099" -
"Adobe Flashplayer 9.0.16").
A failure exit code of 1 was returned.
User context: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM
Possible cause: Systems Management Server (SMS) determines
status for each program it executes. If SMS cannot find or
correlate any installation status Management Information Format
(MIF) files for the program, it uses the program's exit code to
determine status. An exit code of 1 is considered a failure.
Solution: For more information on the exit code, refer to the
documentation for the program you are distributing.
Attempts to search on the internet for an understanding of
this error have been unsuccessful.
Basically, we are looking for input from other SMS Admins who
have had problems installing Flash Player 9 with SMS, whether they
fixed it or not.
Hopefully, someone can provide some insight as to the nature
of the failure. I don't think its really SMS, as it generally
pushes other packages just fine. Only Flash seems to refuse to play
nice.
I am not interested in using Group Policy to push this
package, please start a seperate thread to have that discussion.

I had the same question about what accounts were used in SMS
with advanced security. I was having a problem loading some
bluetooth drivers. Here's the reponce I got from an SMS list.
Do you have access to SMS R2? You can now use the custom
update tool for Adobe Flash.
You are correct about the Software Installation Account, it
is only for the legacy clients.
What kind of installer is the Bluetooth software using?
InstallShield?
If it is InstallShield (MSI based), I have had many problems
with InstallShield packages (MSI based) running under the SYSTEM
account, but it runs fine under my user account (which has Admin

Cannot install ICloud Control Panel to Laptop using Windows 8

I cannot install the ICloud Control Panel on our Laptop.
Tried several times to install but get an error code at the
very end of the install. Not sure why.
Installed perfectly on another PC.

I have the same issue on my new laptop running Windows 8.1. When trying to install iCloud Control Panel 3.1 it stops at 'Updating component registration' and displays the alert 'the process cannot access the file because another process has locked a portion of the file'. Can anyone help?

Cannot install Flash player 11 on Mac using 10.6.8

I have IOS 10.6.8. I had Flash player 10 installed but when trying to install FP 11 it asked me to uninstall the previous version. I did it. I have downloaded FP 11 but it does nothing!
I cannot what you tube videos nor any other that plays using Flash Player.
Can someone help me to figure it out what do I need to do?

IPad air cannot install ios 8.0.2

My 16GB iPad tells me iOS 8.0.2 is available @ 1.3 GB.
But - "This update cannot be installed because it requires
7.0 GB of storage. You can make more storage available
by deleting items in Usage Settings."
In Usage Settings, 8.3 GB is used and 4.4 GB is available.
I imagine that much of the operating system is going to be
overwritten with updated files. Is there no way to update
this computer? I have minimal stuff installed beside the
basic OS programs - Keynote, Pages, Numbers, iPhoto,
Movie, GarageBand.
If I uninstall these programs will they be replaced when the
new iOS version is installed? Must one have a higher capacity
iPad to be able to install the updated OS? Is there a
workaround?

I downloaded the update ios 6 & tried to install it after the download, but during the installation it got interupted.
Since then although I have downloaded it again & tried yet again to install it. It gets so far into it & then stops due to an error.
can someone tell me how to get this installed please?

Yesterday I saw a download for IOS 8.0.2 on my IPad 2, I did click to download it and it did download but when I want to install it I receive an error message saying "verification failure as you no longer connected to the Internet" ?? I am connected to the internet!!! so now I am stuck with a sluggish Ipad, I cant install the update I tried everything, reset network, reset all, I did switch off the Ipad several times nothing work!!! still getting that bloody error message!! please help!!

You need to reset ipad Go to settings & reset after reset you will need to enter your Router wireless key After ipad restored go to software download and try again. I know this works because I have done this on 2 iPads No problems now working fine. Bsydd uk

It gets to almost end of the installation and then i get download error on both of them. I tried with iTunes to update it and when it gets to backup there it fails . It says : "Backup Failed. Re-connect iPhone and try again." or something like that. Any help please? I'm running iOS 5.1.1 on both , 16GB version on both of them and iPad is Wifi. Also running Windows 7 32bit. Help!

Cannot install Yosemite as hard drive is used for Time Machine Backup, How Do I Change This?

I have a 2010 MacBook Pro and when I attempted to install Yosemite the MacBook Pro Drive is greyed out and a message appears that read,"drive is used for Time Machine Backup." How do I change this to install Yosemite?

Well, if you don't want to use that drive for Time Machine anymore, then you should format it using Disk Utility. Then you can install Yosemite on it.
You should, of course, have another full backup somewhere. I really can't state this strongly enough: You should have a full and complete and up to date backup of all your data before you upgrade to OS X Yosemite.
