Cannot install itune10 although quicktime is already installed

I have been trying to install itune 10 for days but it could not be installed and there was no message shown why. Only Quicktime could be installed.
I have done all the advices in trobleshoot column including uninstall the old itune (8)and quicktime before reinstall itune 10 again but could not solve the problem.

Since you mention Add/Remove Programs I assume that you are on Windows.
What was the version that you had previously installed?
Can you try to run the updater from C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Updater5 (or Updater6) and see if it downloads and installs an update to your "already installed" Reader?
Or can you try to manually download an MSP update that is newer than your previous Reader installation, e.g. http://ardownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/9.x/9.3.4/misc/AdbeRdrUpd934_all_incr.msp

  • A newer version of Quicktime is already installed.

I installed my new Nokia software for my phone on my laptop which messed up so I did a system restore.
Since then Itunes and Quicktime stopped working.
After following a lot of stuff other people had tried I'm now at the stage where if I download the combined itunes/quicktime installer it tells me a newer version of Quicktime is already installed and if I download the stand alone Quicktime installer it tells me that the configuration data for this product is corrupt and to contact support personnel.
    Please help!

go to microsoft free downloads and install the "installer cleaner"
    use that to uninstall Quicktime.
close it and then open "my computer" "local drive' "windows" "system32" and delte any folder or file in there with Quicktime
close and then go to my computer/local drive/program files and delete any Quicktime. Close
Go to web and download the 7.3 version - it worked for me (after 6 hours, registry cleaners, etc ..and finally help from Apple)
i was getting your error message and also the buffer overrun and even fatal error and systm32/ddl
    good luck!

  • I cannot watch support-videos although I have already installed QuickTime

I have got Windows 7 and I want to learn about ITunes because I have just ordered an IPot and next week I will get the new IPot. I find it a goot idea to watch the videos about the first steps with ITunes. Startin the video I was told to install QuickTime first. Now I have already installed QuickTime but each time I click the symbol for the video I am toled to install QuickTime first. What's wrong?

Is that video embedded in a web page? If so, are you using IE to view the page?
If so, it sounds like you haven't got the QuickTime Active X control installed yet for your IE.
Go to the following page in IE 9. (It has embedded quicktime movies, and should provoke IE to ask you about the Active X control.)
    http://www.apple.com/ipad/
Down the bottom of the screen you should see a box saying that something wants to run or be installed. (It's been a while since I've seen the box in IE 9 on my system so I can't recall the precise wording.) Click the option that let's the thing run or be installed. Does the video play now?

  • Nothing was changed, now i cannot print any forms ;says adobe already installed?? novice level

I cannot get my forms to print now, says Adobe is already installed, I did nothing different, been using the computer for a year no issues, any ideas?

    What is your operating system?

Can you post a screenshot of that message?

  • OS 10.5.8 PMG5 Why wont iTunes run? says it needs quicktime, when quicktime is already installed

Installed OS 10.5.8 in power mac G5. When I tried to open iTunes (iTunes 10.5.1), iTunes stalls with message that it needs quicktime 7.5. Latest quicktime has been installed from Apple site (version 7.4 for OS 10.5.8). Is quicktime 7.5 available for OS 10.5.8?

QuickTime 7.7 is the latest and is available here:

  • Silly me... CS4 install problem thinks it is already installed.

    Hi All,
I am a bit silly, I dragged the CS4 demo to trash then read the instructions that said not to do that! But now I cannot install the full suite as it thinks that InDesign (CS4) is already installed, but it definitely is not.
I tried running the install for other apps which was ok and then ran uninstaller like you are supposed to but no luck, still wont install.
Is there another way to run the full uninstaller?
BTW it is only the ID that wont install, the other apps are ok...

There is a CS4 clean Script that should help:

ok edit two I think that I have Arch install but I am not sure of which way to use
Dual booting with other linux distros
This is done exactly the same way that Arch linux is loaded. Here we assume that the other distro is on partition [s/h]da3.
    title Other Linux
    root (hd0,2)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz (add other options here as required)
initrd /boot/initrd.img (if the other kernel uses/needs one)
[edit] Dual booting with other linux distro (Chainloading)
To avoid maintenance nightmare, you might want to chainload the GRUB in the MBR to another bootloader you might have installed in the bootrecord of a partition [(hd0,2) in our example] instead of the MBR. This way the auto-magic stuff of some distro will manage the menu.lst on (hd0,2) (if it is grub) for its own distro and you will boot with all the option needed (like the correct last kernel) without the need to copy/paste some part of that menu.lst into yours.
In our example [1], GRUB is in the MBR and some other bootloader (BL) (be it grub or lilo) is in the Boot Record of (hd0,2).
    |   |           |           |    %   (hd0,2)     |
    | M |           |           | B  %               |
    | B |  (hd0,0)  |  (hd0,1)  | L  %  Other        |
    | R |           |           |    %  Distro       |
    |   |           |           |    %               |
      |                            ^
      |     chainloading           |
Then, you simply use in your menu.lst:
    title Other Linux distro
    root (hd0,2)
    chainloader +1

  • Installing iTunes even tho its already installed

SO before I was having trouble with USB ports. I finally got it to recognize my iPod but now it tells me that I need to install iTunes.....well its already installed....right? I mean I have iTunes with a good number of songs and the music store. Any advie?

It's not that. No one else on the computer is logged on. Plus I've restarted my computer about 5 times. I'm downloading. 6.0.4 to see if that makes a difference.

  • How do you RE-INSTALL Leopard 10.5 over already installed LEOPARD upgraded?

I have an iMac computer that originally had Tiger installed. I did all the updates to Tiger and was ready for Leopard. I used "Super Duper" and cloned my hardrive before I installed the new Leopard (10.5 dvd) using th UPGRADE option. After installing Leopard (UPGRADE) and upgrading to 10.5.2 I felt I might get better results with either a "CLEAN INSTALL" or an "INSTALL & ARCHIVE." So, I put the LEOPARD 10.5 DVD back in my Mac, thinking the INSTALLER CHOICES of UPGRADE, ARCHIVE & INSTALL or CLEAN INSTALL would show up again and I could just ERASE this version of Leopard and do the CLEAN INSTALL or ARCHIVE & INSTALL and start over! Well when i put the DVD in the BIG X with the install and restart but not the INSTALL CHOICES? i tried 'OPTION" key hod down and "C" key hold down. what do I do? Thanks in advance for your support and help

If you installed the Time Machine & Airport update, the install disk probably doesn't recognize the HD.
really?? I would find that very strange. Archive and install should definitely be possible anyway. At the screen where one sees the choice of a disk to install to, there should be an "Options" button. Clicking on it should bring up a screen with a choice of upgrade and install (I believe that's the default), archive and install, and erase and install. Choosing archive and install should allow one to proceed.

  • Why I cannot open the application that I already installed on my mac. It's appears for a moment on the dock, but suddenly disappear again. I installed PES 2012, and my mac is pro with OS 10.6.8. Anyone could solve this problem please?

I installed PES 2012 on my mac. It succeed, but when I click it in order to open it, the apps appear just for a moment on the dock then suddenly disappear. I'm using Mac Pro OS 10.6.8.

Usually that means it's not compatible, likely a 10.5 program and Rosetta can't run it or it's not there, you need to check with Konami, they have a community forum/support there to answer your questions
Check the operating system and machine requirements with them, perhaps there is a update or a patch you need to install to get it to work.

If that isn't a help, all checks out, then come back here as it's likely a OS X issue after that.

  • IP camera wants quicktime but already installed

I have several Watchnet IP cameras which require QT - which i installed - but every camera keeps asking for QT to be installed. This is happening on two different computers, and I have been able to log into these same cameras in the past.

  • Why does the iMovie update keep reappearing in App Store Updates although I have already installed it?

I installed the iMovie update version 10.0.8 when it became available 4/24/2015 yet it continues to appear as a new update ready for downloading and installation. How can I get rid of this, or is it even necessary to do so? In my dock, it shows that I have a new update that needs attention. I've never encountered this before.

    1. Search "This Mac" in the Finder for outdated copies of the app(s) that keep being updated. Delete any you find. Make sure the search scope is "This Mac" or you may miss some.
    2. If the search results seem to be inaccurate, rebuild the Spotlight index. If you try to search now, there will be an indication that indexing is in progress.
    3. If the above steps don't resolve the problem, back up all data, then quit each app in question and uninstall it by following the instructions on this page. Alternatively, you can drag it from the Applications folder to the Trash, and empty. The data files you created will be preserved. Verify in Spotlight that there are now no copies of the app on your system. Download it from your Purchases history in the App Store.

I have uninstalled, deleted and cleaned up all files as suggested by Apple and even gone to the trouble of manually editing the registry to delete all Itunes, Ipod and QuickTime references to see if that will sort it, to no available.
The bit I don;t undersdtand is how can a aletr version than the current one exist unless there are version numbering or date issues.
Anyway I have had to regress to version 7.1.1.5

  • Clean 8.1 Install on SVF15A16CGS (Control Centre: Already Installed?)

Hi,I'm changing from Windows 8.1 'home' to Pro. To do this I need to install Windows in such a way where I can only 'Keep personal files' or 'Keep nothing.' I absolutely cannot install 8 then upgrade it. This of course wipes all the software from the PC including Control Centre. After Windows 8.1 installs, I try to install Vaio Control Centre via the product support page, and I receive an error stating, in poor english, a newly version has already been installed on your computer. installation is stopped. The machine does not have Vaio Control Centre installed at all, so I'm struggling with this error. Why can't it proceed anyway as an option?I managed to download a few historical versions of Control Centre to which one version did install, and then allowed the current version to install from there. However it is missing options, such as Input Device, which allows me to choose the keyboard backlight settings. Also missing is Image Quality, and I feel others are missing too.So my keyboard backlight is always off, which with silver keys are hard to see, plus I'm missing components of the Sony Control Centre.I feel that for premium PC manufacturer, Sony should make the effort to make adjustments to their drivers, especially for machines one off current model, so users can effortlessly install Windows and go. I've never encountered such a ****** requirement to 'upgrade first.'I'm very frustrated, does anyone have any idea's on how I can force Control Centre to install properly and give me my backlight control back? Many ThanksJohn

    Hi zunnun,
    Welcome to Sony Community!
We're sorry to hear on this inconvenience. Have you try installing this update on Safe Mode. If it persists, thoroughly search for the Vaio Control Center and delete everything , then go to Sony website and install the original version of this Vaio Control Center.
If you created a recovery disc of the orignal operating system, please use it to make sure you will get the factory setting of the computer then upgrade to Windows 8.1. I hope this helps.
