Cannot install itunes 10.7 access to config.msi message error writiting to c://config.msi/155b7cb.rbf. verify if you have access to this directory
Ok so I'm not a regular doofus, but I can't seem to install itunes 10.7!
I have tried to install through iTunes and it has an error, I therefore tried to install manually and get the following error message...
error writiting to c://config.msi/155b7cb.rbf. verify if you have access to this directory
I have no idea what the problem is! Please help!!!
THANKYOU in advance!
Danny
Doublechecking before proceeding. Do you have Kaspersky security software installed on the PC? (There's been a couple of reports of this in recent times being associated with Kaspersky interfering with the installs.)

itunes error writing to file: C\Config.Msi\165996.rbf verify that you have access to that directory
That's the error I get when trying to uninstall or reinstall my itunes. The application no longer works and I just purchased a new Ipod touch 4th generation that requires I uninstall and upgrade to 10.6.I had this exact same problem just now, trying to upgrade to 10.7.
I even got that error msg when trying to UNINSTALL iTunes!
After hours of frustration trying everyone's different suggestions, I downloaded Revo Uninstaller http://www.cnet.com.au/apps/revo-uninstaller-10610875/ which solved the problem.
Use it to help uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order and then restart your computer:
iTunes
QuickTime
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support
Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Then you can install iTunes from scratch.
Good luck -
When I attempt to install Itunes on Windows 7, I get the message "Service 'Apple Mobile Device' failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services." What does this mean?
So many people are having this problem! Doehunter's instructions here worked for me! Hope this helps. https://discussions.apple.com/message/23824640#23824640

I am trying to update itunes to 11.1.1.11 and keep getting message at the end ' error writing to file :c:\Config.Msi\301ded48.rbf.Verify that you have access to that directory'. What does this mean and how do I fix it?

Every time I try to update itunes i get an error that says: error writing to file C:\Config.Msi\1c16cb7e.rbf. Verify that you have access to that directory.
I've tried uninstalling and I the same error. Help! Are you running Kaspersky security software on that PC? (There's been a few reports in recent times of Kaspersky interfering with iTunes installs, with that message being produced.)
If there is Kaspersky on board, we should try some general-principles getting-past-security-software-interference troubleshooting.
Download and save a fresh copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (32-bit installer file) or iTunes64Setup.exe to your Hard drive. (Don't run the install on line, and don't start the install just yet.)
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Restart the PC. After the PC restarts do not open any applications. Disconnect from your network and/or the internet. Now switch off all your security software (firewall, antivirus, antispyware).
Now start the install by doubleclicking the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) file you downloaded earlier.
Reenable all security software prior to reconnecting to your network and/or the internet.
Any better luck with the security software shut down? -
When downloading iTunes 11.0.3 I get an error 'Error writing to file C:\Config.Msi\1c6fd5.rbf. Verify that you have access to this directory' what do I do?

I am trying to re-install itunes.
I removed all Apples software, and restarted.
still get error message: "Verify that you have access to that directory"
(as administrator)
now what? Thanks so much. This definitely worked. I'm sorry I did not think of using IE. I use Foxfire exclusively so seldom even think of IE as an alternative.

Itunes will not install. I get the error message "Error writing to file: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\com.apple.IE.client_main.dll Verify that you have access to that directory."
That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Vista instructions in the following document: Check your hard disk for errors
Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards? -
Can't install itunes, "verify that you have access..." message
I already had iTunes installed, but when I tried to open it just now it was as if it was installing for the first time, and before it could finish I got this message:
Error writing to file: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\SyncServices\Clients\com.apple.Safari\Contents\Resources\da.lproj\locve rsion.plist
Verify that you have access to that directory.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling it and I got the same message. What does this mean and how do I fix it?+Error writing to file: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\SyncServices\Clients\com.apple.Safari\Contents\Resources\da.lproj\locve rsion.plist+
+Verify that you have access to that directory.+
That's looking like file or folder damage (in one of the sets of the Danish languages resources, I believe).
Try running a chkdsk over the C Drive:

Does that find/repair any damage?
If so, will iTunes open for you now? -

I keep getting this error when trying to update iTunes: "Error writing to file: C:\config.msi\3a3043.rbf. Verify that you have access to that directory." iTunes will not work. Any time I try to apply settings iTunes locks up. Anyone know how to fix this?

Every time I try and update to the latest version, I get an error messages saying to manually do it from tools menu. After doing that, I get an error message saying "error writing to file c:\config.msi\22be9d65.rbf. Verify that you have access to that directory." I am the sole user on this computer and have full administrative rights to my computer. Why am I getting this? I REALY don't care if I upgrade or not but want to get rid of the stupid apple update crap that comes up everytime I turn my computer on. If there are no suggestiong on how to fix this issue, is there a way to turn apple update OFF?! I have Windows 7 Home Premium.
