Cannot install Itunes 8 on windows - please help

I had an issue with Itunes re-installing each time I would start Itunes, so I deleted off computer via add/delete feature on windows.
I also deleted Bonjour and everything apple so I could start again.
Now trying to install from scratch the Itunes 801 it now states "Service (Bonjour Service) failed to start. verify that you have sufficient priviledges to start system services."
I have tried to install Bonjour again but there is an issue with that too.
I just want to play some music, any suggestions?
Windows XP home premium edition

I get a very similar error message and cannot install version 8
Any suggestions as to what can be done ?

  • Cannot install iTunes on windows 7 64bit

Okay, I like so many cannot install iTunes on Windows 7 64bit.
Now Orginally I got a message saying something to the effect of:
There was a problem with the install you do not have permission for something...
Through some investigating my iTunes was being installed and removing all my permissions to view and/or modify files within that folder. Even if I was logged in as admin and installed as admin all the permissions would simply block me out.
This kind of had a familar feeling as in the last few versions of iTunes I had to run as admin just to open it (this is really annoying by the way)
So I searched the net and many people were saying to uninstall everything "Apple" and try again.  So I did that.  Now I have this new message:
there is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.
And again I scoured the internet for a way to fix this.  I apparently am supposed to goto Control Pannel/Programs and Features and select Apple Software Update and select repair.  The problem is that no longer exists in my programs list since I removed it in the earlier step. iTunes still refuses to install spitting out the same error forever. I tried the Microsoft "fix it" tool which is supposed to remove the Apple Software Update incomplete uninstall (which is apparently the whole problem) but it doesn't show up in the list for "fixing".
I am at a loss.  Why doesn't Apple fix this.  I cannot update my iPhone to the latest software in fear I may need to restore it. With no iTunes that is impossible.  I cannot change any of my music or do anything until this is resolved.  If/when iPhone 5 comes out I cannot get it either unless this issue is taken care of somhow.
I searched for an installer for just the Apple Software Update program But it seems to not exist as a standalone thing (it would be useful if it were though). If it were perhaps I could install it again and then successfully remove/repair it and iTunes might install finally.
Now I have had previous versions of iTunes working perfectly fine.  I do not recall which version I was using before I tried to update and fell into this abyss however.

Yes b noir. I've tried running just "iTunes64.msi" from the command-line and while it didn't produce the same error "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vender." it produced a different error in bold-type "iTunes Installer Completed" then "The installer encountered errors before iTunes could be configured...Errors occurred during installation. Your system has not been modified...Please run the installer again, or click Finish to exit". However, I discovered a wealth of options from the Windows Installer to try after typing "iTunes64.msi passive"...So I'll experiment some more when I have time.
P.S. I'm becoming more convinced that Apple is putting new software out there to get it debugged which was a trick that MicroSoft always seemed to do:-)

  • I cannot install iTunes on Windows 7 I receive the Error 7 (Windows Error 193).

I cannot install iTunes on Windows 7 I receive the Error 7 (Windows Error 193).
I have uninstalled and reinstalled a few times but with no luck.  Does anyone have another option?

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If the above steps haven't helped try installing:
    iTunes 12.1.0.71 for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) - itunes64setup.exe (2015-01-28)
which is a 64-bit installer for a 32-bit core program, similar to previous 64-bit releases of iTunes.
    Or roll back to:
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (32-bit) - iTunesSetup.exe (2014-10-16)
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (64-bit) - iTunes64Setup.exe (2014-10-16)
    as appropriate.

  • Cannot install itunes on windows v8.1 64 bit

Cannot install iTunes on Windows v8.1 64 bit.

The old blue iTunes worked fine on my pc, then along came the new red iTunes, which initially refused to install from an auto-update notification, saying it didn't have permission to access one of its own folders (self access to all its other folders was ok).
I then tried a manual download and install as suggested by the auto-update failure dialogue and that was exactly the same - failed at the last hurdle and had to reset itself.
I then tried download and install from iTunes site and this installed without problem, but the application will not open, neither from the desktop icon with user or admin rights, nor from a direct open or run as admin from the iTunes folder .exe file.
I have tried a repair install and an aggressive uninstall to ensure any TSR components are purged followed by a clean install - no difference.
My other pc is no problem and iTunes installed and runs on there fine, so it must be a configuration problem on this pc only.
I disabled my antivirus and malware detection during the install and made an exception for iTunes, to no effect.
When selecting the app I get a blue circle for a few seconds then nothing, no dialogue or notification of problems.
    Any suggestions welcomed.

  • Cannot install itunes on Windows 7 Windows Service Installer could not be accessed

I am having trouble installing itunes on Windows 7.  I keep getting a message that says that Windows Installer Service could not be accessed.  This is driving me crazy.  Any help would be appreciated.

I managed to get iTunes downloaded, but now it won't install because it says a newer version of Quicktime is installed, and iTunes cannot proceed until that is uninstalled.
We're still making progress. That's damaged QuickTime installation configuration information (which also seems to be associated with some-though-not-all reports of your initial error).
Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any QuickTime entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try installing iTunes again. Does the install go through properly now?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)

  • I cannot install itunes on windows 8.1

I cannot install itunes on my Toshiba Laptop with windows 8.1. I kept getting error 7. So i removed all of the itunes files from my computer, and did everything the install troubleshooting page suggested, but it still will not install, but now instead of error 7, I am getting error 2.

I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer?

  • I cannot install itunes on windows 7

I have been trying for some time now to install itunes on windows 7 so that I can put music on my ipod touch.  I am told by the Apple shop that I must have itunes to put music on although when I first bought my Ipod touch (it is quite old) I was able to transfer from CDs very easily.  Now that I have Windows 7, this seems to have changed.  I do not particularly want Itunes but it seems I can get nowhere without it.
When I download Itunes I receive a messate "There is a problem with this Windows Installer Package.  A program required for this install to complete could not be run.  Contact your Support personnel or package vendor."  I have looked at different messages and it seems quite a common problem although the Apple shop said they had never heard of it.  However, none of the solutions suggested work for me.  In fact one suggestion was to remove from the Control Panel all reference to Apple which I did but was unable to remove Apple Update when the same error message appeared.
Any suggestion would be gratefully received as the Ipod is becoming useless without some more music and I have an audiobook I wish to transfer from Windows Media also.

You might have better luck if you posted in the iTunes form since you have an iTunes problem, not an iPod problem.

  • Cannot install iTune for Windows

Hi, I just bought an iPod nano and I tried to install iTune for windows 64 bit but I always get an error message concerning a Boujour service that it seems I don't have the rights to start.

  • Cannot delete itunes .msi not found and cannot install new one! please help

Please help me awhile ago i tried deleting then reinstalling th new version of itunes / quick time and after going through most of the installation process this comes up:
The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.
Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'iTunes.msi' in the box below.
    Use source:
    C:\Documents and Settings\Jordan\Local Settings\Application Data\Apple\Apple Software Update\
    I made a picture of it here:http://i196.photobucket.com/albums/aa233/djjordie/cannotfindmsi.jpg
Then i tried uninstalling it (somehow it says its installed in add or remove programs) and the same message came up.
After ages of trying to figure it out and deleting heaps of things, when trying to install now it says:
1.run or cancel (thats not the problem) i click run picture here:http://i196.photobucket.com/albums/aa233/djjordie/cannotfindmsi.jpg
2.then it goes to this picture here:http://i196.photobucket.com/albums/aa233/djjordie/preparingtoinstall.jpg
    3. then straight to this picture here:http://i196.photobucket.com/albums/aa233/djjordie/preparingtoinstall.jpg
without the the rest of the installation process...
SO i need to be able to delete it complety (the problem there is the .msi not being found).
Then install itunes / quick time without the .msi problem or the skipping of the installation process with it saying errors occurred ect...
Please help it would be much appreciated!

WHen you get trouble with msi files you usually need the Microsoft Installer cleanup utility.
Here is a method for removal of iTunes and related programs with clean up and reinstall.
Download a fresh copy of iTunes and the stand alone version of Quicktime (the one without iTunes)
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install Microsoft Installer cleanup utility, there are instructions on the page as well as the download. Note that what you download is the installer not the program – you have to run it to install the program. The installer doesn't give any message to confirm the installation.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/
(To run the program – All Programs>>Windows Install)
Now use the following method to remove iTunes and its components:
    XP
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925
    Vista
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
*If you hit a problem with one of the uninstalls don't worry*, carry on with the deleting of files and folders as directed in the method.
When you get to deleting Quicktime files in the system32 folder as advised in the method, you can delete any file or folder with Quicktime in the name.
    Restart your PC.
Run the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility. (Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up)
Remove any references you find to the programs you removed - strictly speaking you only need to worry about those programs where the uninstall failed.
If you don’t see an entry for one of the programs that did not uninstall, look out for blank entries or numeric entries that look like version numbers e.g. 7.x for Quicktime or 1.x for Bonjour.
    restart your PC
Install the stand alone Quicktime and check that it works.
    If it does, install iTunes.

  • Cannot install iTunes on Windows 7

    Hello
I had uninstalled iTunes from my laptop few months back and now I want to install it again. But I can not install it due to the error "key not valid for use in specified state". I had also uninstalled all other related Apple softwares but not sure of their order of uninstalling (I just happened to know that there is some order of uninstalling these softwares to avoid unintended problems). I moved RSA file from C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA to C:\RSA. Now I am getting another error "Access is denied". Can anybody please help me getting iTunes back on my laptop.
    Thanks and Regards
    Sachin

For "Key not valid for use in specified state" errors try moving the folder RSA from
    C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA to say C:\RSA
(just in case there should be a need to restore it) then try installing again.
This folder appears to act as a cache and should be rebuilt automatically as required.
