Cannot install itunes, itunes already installed

I uninstalled iTunes in XP - but it appears it hasn't done it completely - as I keep on getting error messages.
I tried to download the latest version of iTunes off the Apple site, but after clicking the DOWNLOAD button, it takes me to another screen stating that I have downloaded it.
This is not the case, there's obviously some remnant of it in the registry. How do I get this software completely off my machine?
Regards
D.E.

Try this link Microsoft Program install and uninstall a troubleshooter and remove iTunes related installer files.  Then download iTunes and install again.

ok so the download problem with my iphone.. what could be the cause of that? ive restarted and deleted the "undownloaded app" over 10 times already. and restarted the iphone 10 times... next thing i know i cant install itunes on my laptop.... geez man..
obviously there is a fix which someone will help... but why should i have to go through all that crap to install a so called uncomplicated software... when you think about it this really shouldnt even be an issue.
normally if the thing dosent work. normally with most programs you just uninstall the uncompleted software and just reinstall and everything is usually good to go.. help!

ive never had any problems with ap[ple products in the past... this is a first and a stupid problem if you ask me

iTunes 9.0.x is certainly compatible with Win7 64 bit since I use that exact setup on 3 different PCs. Two suggestions for your installation problems:
1)Download a new copy of the 64 bit installer from Apple then, instead of just running the itunes installer right click on it and try 'run as adminstrator'. In my experience that clears up a world of problems with program installation in Win7 and Vista. This is necessary even if you're already logged in as an administrator.
    2) Try the previous version of iTunes (9.0.3). You can get a copy at http://www.oldapps.com/itunes.php?old_itunes=54 again right click on the file and "run as administrator"
    Good luck, hope this helps.

  • Cannot install itunes on new laptop

Cannot install itunes on new laptop, even when security software is disabled.  Downloads fine, goes through install and then says it can't install on my system.  I have admin priviledges and already have Quicktime running.  Help!  I have itunes already running beautifully on 3 other computers and an ipod touch with home sharing - but my new laptop just won't intall itunes.  Can anyone help?

Many thanks. Quite often with the 0x800736B3 on the iTunes install, there seems to be an 0x8007000b in play for Windows Update.
Let's try the following document first:
    [Windows Update error 8007000b|http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Windows-Update-error- 8007000b]
Next head to Windows Update and try stocking back on Windows Updates again. If you're a long way behind (sometimes this has been going on for months for people), you may need to do it in several batches. Basically, keep going back to Windows Update until it stops offering you new updates.
After you're stocked back up on Windows Updates, try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?
(If you can't get Windows Updates to install, post back to let us know the error codes you've been getting on the most recent attempts at updates. Sometimes things are in such a snarl that we have to try a few different measures with them.)

  • Cannot install iTunes: Access denied

I cannot get iTunes to install on my Windows 7 PC. I have uninstalled iTunes and QuickTime completely, as well as all other Apple software (in suggested order) and downloaded the newest versions. On installation, I receive an "access denied" error for both. I am on an administrator account, run as administrator, deleted my temp folder, everything. I cannot get either to install. Any suggestions? Very frustrating.

What worked for me was on another post:  When trying to update iTunes I receive a "Object already exists"
For "Key not valid for use in specified state" errors try moving the folder RSA from C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA to say C:\RSA (just in case there should be a need to restore it) then try installing again. This folder appears to act as a cache and should be rebuilt automatically as required.
I had tried removing all the ITunes programs, deleting temp folder, etc., and nothing worked until I moved the RSA folder per the instructions above.  I hope this helps someone else because I have spent endless hours trying to get the latest version of ITunes to install and it was very frustrating.

  • App store cannot install iTunes 11.1.4 - but says that it has done so

    Bizarre behaviors
    1. Cannot install iTunes 11.1.4 - App Store says that the update is available, but it also shows that it HAS been installed 3 times before! Actually it is NOT installed; 11.1.3 is installed.
    2. When I clicked "Update" (for the fourth time in the last few weeks) nothing helpful happened, I could not access "About This Mac" and the computer eventually froze.
    3. iWork - App Store says updates to the three ".1" versions (e.g. Numbers 3.1) are available, and also that they are installed. Actually they ARE all installed.

There is apparently a new installer that should update smoothly. On the other hand you may wish to wait for an update that has a perceived benefit, or at least until you've seen how others get on with it.

Apple has released a new build of iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows which resolves the install/launch issues some customers encountered after updating.  If you are updating from iTunes 11.1.3 follow these steps on how to install the latest version.  If you have already attempted to update to iTunes 11.1.4 and are encountering an error, see iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows: Unable to install or open

I'd mark this as a Solution, but for some reason, I often do not see the option to do that (I posted about that sometime ago, nobody could figure out why -- just another weirdity). Anyway, apparently the new build here has fixed the problem, at least for Windows Vista folks. Thanks to both turingtest2 and Eric W

  • HT1692 Have recently installed itunes and outlook on a new computer.  Have multiple email accounts set up in Outlook tho only use contacts and calendar in relation to one of these. Cannot sync itunes with the correct contacts and calendars, Help!

My new computer is 64-bit running Windows 7 pro, SP1 and Microsoft Office 2010 Pro Plus 32-bit
My phone is a 4S runing iOS 6.1.3
Very frustrated now that I have recently installed itunes and outlook on this new computer.  Everything worked perfectly ok on my laptop which was also 64-bit Windows 7 and running 32-bit Microsoft Office 2010 Pro.  I have multiple email accounts set up in Outlook tho only use contacts and calendar in relation to one of these. Cannot sync itunes with the correct contacts and calendars, when I sync the calendar and contacts are empty.  Not sure if there is any way to point itunes to particular address books and calendars.
I have installed and uninstalled itunes 3 times and thank goodness have a backup
    Can anyone help please?
    thanks in anticipation

I had my home computer set up to sync to work's Exchange server. It worked well, but I didn't like seeing work email messages and other programs trying to sync with my default Outlook folder, which was then the Exchange (& work related) .ost file. I know there are various ways to manage those problems using filters, view, subfolders, etc., but it was a hassle for me. I think it could work well for many other folks.
For now, I have published my work calendar and subscribed to that calendar on my home computer. So I have view only access to my calendar on my home computer (and I can add/edit calendar items on my iPad (or Outlook Web Access) when away from work). This is not quite what I wanted, but it may work.
It almost makes me long for the days when I used my Windows Mobile Treo to sync back and forth between exchange at work and outlook at home (but had many sync conflicts as a result).

  • TS3212 I cannot install iTunes 10.6.3 on Windows 7 (64 bit). I redceive the following message - "The installation package could not be opened..." Tried opening in safe mode - no luck. Anybody have a solution?

I cannot install iTunes 10.6.3 on Windows7 (64 bit). I keep getting the following message: "The installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows installer program." Anybody have a solution?

I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:

If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer?

  • I cannot install Itunes 10.1.1 on Windows 7 x64...

    Hi all!!
I bought my ipod touch two days ago. But I cannot install iTunes on my pc.
I downloaded Itunes for x64 pc and I ran it as admin. So it starts and it stops ends the installation process and saying me -in italian language- "Si sono verificati errori prima che iTunes potrebbe essere configurato. Il sistema non è stato modificato". In english language it means: "Troubles occurred before iTunes could be set up".
I tried to delete "Temp" folder in appdata/local.
    I'm a bit sad...

It will work with Windows 7 32 bit.  On a 64 bit you will have to install Windows XP Mode.  You can download it from the Microsoft Website.  The XP Mode will run Windows XP in 32 bit.  Microsoft has easy instructions on the download.  One download at a time.  Install the first download then the second download.  You will have to copy your icon from all program and paste to the desktop if you are going to use it often.
