Cannot Install Logic Express 9.0.1 Update

I tried to install the 9.0.1 update but I keep getting a message "An eligible Logic Express Version was not found in the Applications Folder. This Update requires Logic Express version 9.0." when I try to install it.
I have a copy of Logic 9 Express that I bought from the Apple Store & there is a copy in the Applications folder that I installed as a default location.
This was an upgrade from Logic 7. I may have shortened the name to "Logic Express" & I also have the copy of Logic 7 still in my Application Folder.
Any help would be appreciated.

Is your version 9.0 registered and functioning properly? If so, I see no reason why the update installer does not recognize it . . . as long as you installed the original application to the default Applications folder and did not move it later, and did not rename the file. Also, be sure you have not moved or renamed any support files (Library/Application Support/Logic, etc.).
Having both LE7 and LE9 in your Applications folder should be okay. I have "Logic Express 8" and "Logic Express" in mine ("Logic Express" being version 9) and I was able to update to 9.0.1.
Unless somebody else has a solution, you might try reinstalling LE9 and then the 9.0.1 update again.

  • Can you install logic express on more than one computer

can you install logic express on more than one computer ?

Be sure to read the End User Licensing Agreement for questions of this nature. You are allowed to install Logic on two computers that you own, for example an iMac and a MacBook Pro. You cannot, however, use the two computers at the same time if they are on the same network. You can use one computer as a Logic Node to shift some of the processing load (which you would likely do with an ethernet cable) but you don't need to have a full installation of Logic on the Node  machine, just the Logic Node installation. The idea of allowing two installations is so that you might take advantage of a portable  computer in the field for on-site recording then later transfer those files to a desktop studio set up for further editing.

  • How do I install Logic Express without CD

Just got a new mac and it has no CD drive. So how do I go about installing Logic Express that I own? I only see updates listed in the downloads sections of apple pages.

Thank you, this is a good suggestion. But for some reason I coulnd't get it to work. I followed the steps as described but the drive never showed up under "devices" on the computer without the drive.
Anyway, I created a disc image of the installation disc and all ended well.
    Thx.

  • Installing Logic Express 9 on a new macbook

    Hello,
I bought Logic Express 9 pre-installed on my Macbook back in 2010, and would like to install it on my new Macbook Pro retina (it's running the latest version of Mavericks).
I still have the install DVD and serial number key that originally came with my Macbook, but since my Macbook Pro doesn't read DVDs, I'm a little confused as to how I could install Logic Express there. I looked for it in the App store, but it seems that only Logic Pro is still available there, and since I have never downloaded Logic from the App store before, I can't recover it from there either.
Is there a way to transfer Logic Express 9 on my Macbook Pro instead of having to purchase Logic Pro?
    Thank you for your help

If you still have your old Macbook you could use Remote Disc to install Logic to your new MBP. Here's a video to demonstrate.
If not, you might consider getting an Apple USB Superdrive like I did. It comes in handy and is quite affordable.
BTW, be sure to run Software Update immediately after installing LE9 on your MBP because it will not work with Mavericks until you update it to 9.1.8.

  • Installing logic express 8

im installing logic express 8 and my serial number is not working. it asks me for my original xs key number?
i never had logic or any kind of recording software on my macbookpro. do i need logic studio to install express?

You do not need Logic Studio to install LE8. Are you sure you have the full LE8 version and not the upgrade? If it's asking for your original key number, that implies an upgrade.

  • How to install Logic Express 9 without disc

    Hi,
I am awaiting arrival of my Retina MacBook Pro, I have logic express 9.1.0 on disc, I was just wondering how I am able to install logic express (as it is not in Mac App Store) and use my serial??
    Regards,
    David

If you have another computer with an internal drive you can enable "DVD or CD Sharing" to install to your RMP:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5287?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
You could also use an external drive, e.g. Apple's Superdrive:

  • Logic Express 9.1.2 update Wont Install on 9.0.1 version

I'm getting an error message when trying to update to 9.1.2. My current version of Logic Express is 9.0.1. Here is the error message displayed:
    Alert
An eligible Logic Express Version was not found in the Applications Folder.
This Update requires Logic Express version 9.0 or h*igher.

OK, I really dislike reinstalling when an app is working perfectly. But having trawled through user groups and Apples help files - it became evident that this was the next logical step. So I reinstalled version 9.0.0. It worked! It then accepted the upgrade to 9.1.2 without a hitch. So i guess this is the solution

  • Logic Express 7.0.1 Update/Upgrade

    Hello,
I have Logic Express version 7.0.1 and never did get the "paid" upgrade to Logic Express version 7.1 (or was it version 7.2?). I'm wondering what the latest version of Logic Express 7 is and how I would go about getting the update/upgrade to 7.1 (or 7.2)?
I use GarageBand most of the time and don't use Logic Express a lot so I don't really want to fork out the cash to move to version 8 but it would be nice to see it updated somehow. Logic Express 7.0.1 seems to work fine on 10.5.6 for me, by the way.
I just can't seem to find any info on Apple's website about the version 7.1 (or 7.2) update/upgrade.
Can anyone shed any light on this?
    Thanks so much,
    Gerard

I don't see any problem with trying LE7 in a Leopard environment. Usually newer OS have backwards compatibility with older software. However, just in case, have all your valuable data backed up before upgrading. With all bases covered you can easily revert to the old setup if something goes wrong under Leopard. The only thing you can lose is time spent to re-install Tiger and LE7.

  • Installing Logic Express from Logic Studio Package

Does any user, or Apple, know if it's possible to performa a Logic Express installation from my Logic Studio package, i.e. not the whole Studio installation, but the limited version?
    TIA,
    -gg

In the installer simply untick everything you can untick and you should be able to do a "skeleton" install of about 7.5 GB. It'll still be Logic Pro though, not express. But installing the app only is not possible, some content +cannot be deselected+ in the installer.

  • Cannot open Logic Express - process but no app showing

Hi, it's been a few months since I used Logic Express - 9.1 something. I had reason 4 installed but upgraded to reason 5 a few weeks ago. When I open Logic Express, the icon bounces around and when I go to activity monitor there is a process, but the app never shows... Ran software update but there is no updates for Logic...
    any ideas?
    thanks,
    dan

I am still having the problem. A few days later, I tried to start Logic and nothing happens, even though there is a process in activity monitor. Should I try uninstalling and reinstalling logic? Or are there log files to see what is going on?

  • How many Macs can you install Logic Express on?

I upgraded to LE 7.1 from the Logic Audio 5/6 Big Box. I needed the XSKey to authorize the LE 7.1 upgrade -- I'm wondering, how many installations of LE 7.1 does it allow? Just for utility's sake it would be useful to install it on a desktop and a laptop, for instance.
As the XSKey still has authorizations for those previous Big Box versions, I presume I could still install Logic 5 and 6 on as many machines as I wanted, I'd just have to always have the XSKey plugged into the particular one I wanted to use at that time...right?

The agreement can be found here
    http://images.apple.com/legal/sla/docs/logicexpress.pdf
    Section 2 first para
Simply you can install it on one laptop and one desktop (See the para for specifics) at the same time, but you can only use on one of these at a time.
You cannot therefore have the same license on two laptops, you need two copies.
How does it check? No idea. I don't have two apple computers.

  • Cannot install Logic from DVD version 9.0.0. because it is not compatible with the latest OS 10.8.3

As I tried to install Logic 9.0.0 the OS comes out with a message saying that the OS is not compatible with this version of Logic.
I have Logic conventional DVD Software package.
How can I get this done?
    Any help, I appreciate!
    Thanks!

No, the message prevents me from installing.
Now, I took the App Icon from my Laptop which has the latest Logic Update installed and throw it in my new iMac's Application Folder. It seems to work OK.
What I havent installed are the Additional Content and all the DVDs that come with Logic.

  • How many computers can I install Logic Express on?

Simple question...can I buy one copy of Logic Express and install it on both my Macbook Pro and my new iMac when I get it? I can't see anywhere on Apple's site any info on the software product licences. I also need to know the same information for Final Cut express.

    Christian,
Thanks for that, I was beginning to think I wouldn't get an answer to this question. I will be using only one of these computers for music production at a time so that will be fine. I will probably use the iMac at home and the Macbook Pro when away and I didn't want to have to buy two copies.

  • Cannot install OS X 10.6.2 Update or Hewlett-Packard Printer Drivers

Error message #1: "Mac OS X Update can't be installed on this disk. This volume does not meet the requirements for this update."
Error message #2 (regarding Printer Drivers): This volume does not meet the requirements for this update.
Disk in question is the startup volume. It has 164.35 GB free. OS X 10.6 was just installed about two hours ago, and the two updates were downloaded right after 10.6 was installed.

Is the drive partitioned using GUID and formatted Mac OS Extended, Journaled? Have you done this:
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger and Leopard.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
Are you installing the 10.6.2 Combo Updater (not the incremental one?) The latter is slightly larger and has the word "Combo" in the title.
Did you update to Snow or did you install it on a freshly erased hard drive?
