Cannot install Logic on a G5 Dual 2.0 Ghz with 2.5 gigs of memory

I am attempting to install My Logic Pro onto a G5 Dual 2.0Ghz CPu with 2.5 gigs of memory. I've tried it twice now, both times with the same result. It gets through the Audio Content Discs, then asks for the Logic Studio Installer Disc and promptly quits. A generic message comes up stating that there might be a problem with my DVDs and I should contact the manufacturer. I know these install Discs are good, I just did an install on my primary computer with no problem. This is a used G5 bought form a third party. It's running everything else okay. From skimming through these threads, I get the sense that there are too many possibilities to easily narrow this down. I also have not found an exact replica of my situation with a positive solution. Could it be memory? Everything seems to check out okay. I have a big enough hard drive - 160 gigs - mostly empty.
One other specific explanation of my installation attempts. I am installing the application to the internal hard drive but I am directing all the audio content to be installed on an external firewire drive - this drive has plenty of room available - approximately 300 gigs. I did no direct it to a specific folder, just to the drive itself - could that be an issue?
Any thoughts? Thanks.

So the Audio Content is installed?
Let's start with the bleeding obvious (the "empty petroltank"): have you thoroughly inspected the disk for scratches or dirt? It is always possible that your disk was damaged or soiled after the first successfull install.
It is unlikely that there is either a memory or a diskspace issue - the installer would have reported so much earlier. So clean your disk and try again.
Another possibility is that your drive is at fault. So try other disks to see if they perform ok, or hook up an external drive (if you've got one) and try it from there.
Good Luck!

  • Cannot install Logic 8 Studio due to lost v7 USB key

I am wondering if someone can point me to the correct Apple support email address to address my problem. I have scoured these boards and can only seem to find email support for iTunes and iPod (sigh).
I have been a Logic user since the early Emagic days and have upgraded to every major version.
I have all my receipts dating back to Logic 5 from Emagic.
I bought the Apple Logic 7.2 crossgrade in February 2006, and the Logic Studio 8 upgrade in September 2007. At the time, my house was being renovated, so things were in boxes and life was in turmoil.
When I got Logic Studio 8, I installed it successfully on my MacBook Pro using the v8 serial number and the USB key.
Now that my renovations are finished and I've moved back into my house, I need to install v8 Studio onto my G5 tower which has been optimized for my music production. When I went to install it, it asked me for either my earlier serial number (none of my old Emagic numbers worked from earlier Emagic receipt emails) or it asked me to insert my USB key from v7 which appears to have been lost in my move (I have turned the house upside down looking for it).
So I am currently stuck. I cannot install v8 Studio and I would like to contact Apple via email with all my receipts and order information to see if there is anything they can do to help me out. I registered both v7.2 and v8 online during the installation process, but unfortunately (unlike Adobe or Native Instruments) there doesn't seem to be anywhere on the Apple site where I can log in to look up serial numbers for previous registrations.
This is really frustrating. I've spent hundreds (maybe thousands) supporting Logic over the years and I'd be really ****** off if I have to go and buy the full version of Logic 8 again.
So, if any can advise me the best path to follow in contacting Apple about this for assistance, I'd certainly appreciate it.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I just got off the phone with Apple support and they were extremely helpful. I explained my situation, and luckily I was armed with every Apple invoice for Logic that I had since it took the product over, and all my earlier emails (circa 2002) with Emagic. I was also 'showing up' in Apple's system so they were able to verify my purchases from my Apple Web Order numbers.
The support agent asked me for my old Emagic XS key number, which I luckily had in a very old email. He then offered me two options: a) I could buy a new Logic 7 dongle for $90, or 2) if I wasn't going to be using Logic 7 anymore, he could generate a new full retail serial number for Logic Studio 1.0 (v8) for me. The latter was my choice, and I do not need to have my old XS key, or any old serial numbers to now install Logic Studio.
I did wait 30 minutes for my call to be answered and about another 10 minutes while the agent went off to check some stuff and generate the new serial number - a small price to pay instead of having to go and buy the whole thing over again!

  • Cannot install windows 8 on Pavilion Elite M9600T (KX745AV-ABA) with Vista 64 BIT

I cannot install windows 8 on my computer. I contacted Microsoft and he worked on it for three hours and said I had a graphics card driver problem.I am using a Nvidia GeForce 9800GT which came with the computer.  When I try to update to the latest driver (306.97) Which is on the Microsoft update site and also on the Nvidia site The screen says no signal and goes to sleep. I have been working with a Nvidia rep for a week now and he says it is not their driver that is causing the problem and that I should contact HP. I don't know what else to do. I removed the working Nvidia driver (SP41066) also and Tried to install windows 8 and recieved the same message "Windows installation was not successful" and returned me to Vista 64 Bit. I don't know what else to do. Can someone please help or am I just out of luck. Thank you,

    You're welcome mrchips108
By the way up for one more go. I was finally able to find someone with a possible solution for you. the user yashoshah on the tomshardware forums had the problem:
"Windows installation was not successful. Your previous version of windows will be restored. Please do not switch off your computer during this time"
    SOURCE: Windows installation not successful
He fixed it by removing the HDMI cable and connecting to the monitor through DVI. After it was installed he went back to using HDMI.
How is your video card connected to the monitor: what cable and what interface is on the monitor and what interface are you using on the video card? Perhaps the Microsoft rep you spoke to was partly correct about the video card being the problem. It might be that the driver built into Windows 8 has a problem with certain configurations.
Don't forgot to say thanks by giving "Kudos" to those that help solve your problems.

  • I have been using Logic Pro 8 on my Macbook OSX 10.5.8  Recently I purchased a new Macbook OSX 10.7.3 but cannot install Logic Pro 8 on it.  Do I need to purchase a new Logic Pro 9 or can I upgrade my Logic 8 to logic 9 and then install?

Is there anyone out there who is having the same problem.

    UPDATE:
The photo posted above is Logic Pro 8 running in Snow Leopard virtualized in Parallels 7 in Lion.
I just attempted to install it into the Lion Macintosh HD from running the Logic Installer in Snow Leopard virtualized.  The Installer application does NOT see the Lion Macintosh HD in its Select a Destination window.  More work needs to be done for this approach to work...
    Any ideas?
In the meantime, someone will have to work out an installation method using Pacifist (as CCTM suggests above), similar to this approach to installing GarageBand Jam Packs into Lion (which installer also requires Rosetta):

  • Cannot Install Logic Express 9.0.1 Update

I tried to install the 9.0.1 update but I keep getting a message "An eligible Logic Express Version was not found in the Applications Folder. This Update requires Logic Express version 9.0." when I try to install it.
I have a copy of Logic 9 Express that I bought from the Apple Store & there is a copy in the Applications folder that I installed as a default location.
This was an upgrade from Logic 7. I may have shortened the name to "Logic Express" & I also have the copy of Logic 7 still in my Application Folder.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Is your version 9.0 registered and functioning properly? If so, I see no reason why the update installer does not recognize it . . . as long as you installed the original application to the default Applications folder and did not move it later, and did not rename the file. Also, be sure you have not moved or renamed any support files (Library/Application Support/Logic, etc.).
Having both LE7 and LE9 in your Applications folder should be okay. I have "Logic Express 8" and "Logic Express" in mine ("Logic Express" being version 9) and I was able to update to 9.0.1.
Unless somebody else has a solution, you might try reinstalling LE9 and then the 9.0.1 update again.

  • Cannot install TEMPRO on a Satellite P100-488 error 1603 with Win installer

    Hello,
I am writing this post as I have an issue to install the Tempro software on my Toshiba P100-488.
Indeed, on the first screen, I get an error message reading "installation stopped prematurely".
When I check in the events manager of Windows Vista, then I can see that error 1603 is there.
Can you help me please ?
    Thanks in advance ! ;-)
    Fred

    Hi
I searched a little bit on the Microsoft page and found this knowledge base article:
+*You receive an "error 1603: A fatal error occurred during installation" error message when you try to install a Windows Installer package*+
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/834484
Microsoft article says that the error message appears because:
+- The folder that you are trying to install the Windows Installer package to is encrypted.+
+- The drive that contains the folder that you are trying to install the Windows Installer package to is accessed as a substitute drive.+
+- The SYSTEM account does not have Full Control permissions on the folder that you are trying to install the Windows Installer package to. You notice the error message because the Windows Installer service uses the SYSTEM account to install software.+
I recommend checking this document and try the workaround provided by Microsoft.
    Maybe it helps
    Good luck.

  • Cannot install Mac OSX Snow Leopard on Macbook Pro Unibody with a new SSD

Hi, I just bought a SSD (OCZ Vertex LE 120GB) to replace the stock SATA HDD. The problem is that the Mac OSX installation fails. I tried a lot of times with no success. Both clean install from DVD or restoration from a Time Machine backup fails.
The problem doesn't happen if I put the same SSD into a PC to install a Linux or Windows. I've read something saying the problem to be at EFI 1.7, SATA bus and even SATA cable in the Macbook Pro. Can anyone help in this issue?

    IgorOzz wrote:
Hi OrangeMarlin, thanks for answering and trying to help me in this issue. Well, The SDD is well formated by Disk Utility and GUID partition as well. I tried to clone my HDD to the SDD by using the Disk Utility RESTORE option. By doing this I could boot up from SDD but somethings didn't work well (iPhone crashed at every start), Finder sometimes, and other apps...
Maybe the disk utility restore option isn't the best way to do that. I'm gonna try the following steps:
    - Carbon Copy to clone my HDD to SDD;
    - Update SDD FW to the last one (but I need to install it on a Windows machine first);
    - Downgrade EFI FW back to 1.6 (not sure if I'll proceed to this step).
I was thinking about SATA bus and cables because I've read some issues pinpointing to this as the culprit, since the Macbook's SATA wouldn't be able to handle 3Gbps SATA II speeds.
Now, a little question: Why you say to be not recommended to install the new drive internally? What if, after using the SSD or HDD for a while and the system crashes I need to reinstall Mac OSX? I think it's supposed to be installed from the scratch by the DVD installer. Isn't it?
Again, thanks... and waiting more replies...
Do one step at a time, and I highly recommend not "downgrading" the EFI. The unintended consequences might make you throw your MBP out the window.
Yes, use Carbon Copy Clone. Then try to boot from the cloned drive. Hold Option at startup, and it will give you a choice.
If it works, then put it in your MBP. If it doesn't boot, then go to step two, repeat clone, and try again.
My 2010 MBP runs at 3Gbps. I think prior to the 2010 models, Apple had not qualified any drives, other than the ones they put in the MBP's, that could work with 3Gbps drives. You may have one that doesn't.

  • I cannot install the everio component for quicktime using quicktime 10 with MacOs Lion. With Leopard and a previous version of quicktime it was not a problem. If I don´t do this I will not be able to see the .tod files from my hd camera

Does anyone know if this is a problem of Lion/Quicktime 10?? I kind of have that feeling, which is quite annoying, because I will not be able to edit my hd video files in my new iMac until the problem is solved... and I would rather prefer not to use conversion... Any suggestion??

    1. You did not get an error message telling you that your iPhoto library was getting full. You got a message telling you that your HD was getting full, right?
OS X needs about 10 gigs of hard drive space for normal OS operations - things like virtual memory, temporary files and so on.
Without this space your Mac will slow down as the OS hunts for space on the disk, files will be fragmented, also slowing things down, apps will crash and the risk of data corruption - that is damage to your files, photos, music - increases exponentially.
Your first priority is to make more space on that HD. Nothing else can be done until you do.
Purchase an external HD and move your Photos and Music to it. Both iPhoto and iTunes can run perfectly well with the Library on an external disk.
Your Library has been damaged from being run on an overfull disk.
How much free space on it now?

  • Cannot install Adobe Acrobat Pro on Windows XP

    Good day,
I cannot install Adobe Acrobat Pro on my windows XP machine with SP2 and the latest updates.
The error says that the software cannot be installed on the Operating system, please see minimum requirements. I meet all these but cannot install
I saw a similar question posted on the forums but it is unanswered.
    Please assist me.

    Hi,
This link has the minimum system requirements for Acrobat 10 Pro : Acrobat X Pro Tech Specs
On Windows XP, the minimum requirement is SP3 for 32 bit. I would recommend that you update to SP3 by running Windows Update and then reinstall the application.

  • Cannot install CS5 on 64bit os!

Hi. I dunno if this is the right section but I'll post here (move it to  the right section if I'm wrong). I just got my new PC and built it.
Now  comes the problem. I cannot install any of the 64bits adobe programmes.  This would be After Effects, Premiere Pro and Photoshop x64.
I get the error message "OS requirements not met" or something simlair to that.
I  can START the installation (which you cannot do on 32bits OS) but then  after a few seconds it stops and gives me the error message.
    My rig is:
    AMD Phenom II x6 1055t
    Corsair 16000mhz: 8GB RAM
    Gigabyte Motherboard: GA-870A-UD3
    Gainward GeForce GTX 460 768mb
    Samsung 500g Spinpoint 3
    Samsung 1TB Spinpoint 3
    PSU: Corsair VX 550W 80+
And of course I'm running a 64bit os (Windows 7 Ultimate)
And here you can see the system requirements for Adobe After Effects CS5:
    # Intel® Pentium® 4 or AMD Athlon® 64 processor (Intel Core™2 Duo or AMD Phenom® II recommended); 64-bit support required
    #  64-bit operating system required: Microsoft® Windows Vista® Home  Premium, Business, Ultimate, or Enterprise with Service Pack 1 or  Windows® 7
    # 2GB of RAM
    # 3GB of available hard-disk space plus  2GB of space for optional content; additional free space required during  installation (cannot install on removable flash-based storage devices)
    # 1280x1024 display with OpenGL 2.0–compatible graphics card
    # DVD-ROM drive
As I can see (and probably you aswell) I fulfill all these requirements but still unable to install the appliactions.
Anyone that can help me? Thanks in advance
    CS5 is original, not cracked.

I  can START the installation (which you cannot do on 32bits OS)
The installer is a 32bit app, so this is not a qualifying criteria. Do you correctly run as administrator/ default user? Anything going on with virus scanners, firewalls and all that? Is your hardware all listed as correctly functioning in device manager? Do you have all the latest Windows updates? Otehr Adobe software on teh system? On a whim, you could install .NET runtimes 2.5 and 3.5 or MS Visual Studio Express. Incorrect detection of the host OS often points to missing DLLs or other programs having overwritten sepcific DLLs. Running those installs should fix any such issues...
